How can i root my SM-G900v 6.0.1 Verizon? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900V with android 6.0.1 kernel 3.4.0, Build number mmb29m.g900vvrs2dqd1. Now i have read and read threw many posts here and i don't have a HUGE knowledge of what some of them things to do are. I Have rooted many phones before tho.
Is there a safe way to Root this phone? Can you please explain it step by step for me? Thank you very much guys!!!!

You might want to start here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=71202995 . Though I am not sure if there is a rooted version of the QD1 update you have. You might ask around for that.

[Q] AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 Root

I have read at least 15 threads, all of which reference each other and many of which later turn out to be outdated. I have been trying to figure this out for days and I am finally too frustrated to keep it up.
Can anyone please help me? I am so frustrated I am about in tears.
Model number: SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
Android version: 4.4.4
Baseband version: G900AUCU2AOA1
Kernel version
3.4.0-3116194
[email protected] #1
Fri Jan 9 19:01:27 KST 2015
Build number: KTU84P.G900AUCU2AOA1
I just want some basic step by step instructions please. I have gathered that my only choice for rooting is downgrading to a firmware that towelroot will work on and then upgrading again with ODIN, but there are literally hundreds of different firmwares listed in 10 or more threads, all of which refer to other threads and some of which are outdated. I just want some help guys. Please.
It's been two days with no replies. Is anyone at all willing to help me out?
Have you read the general forum of the att s5 section at all, its literally one of the first posts.

Are you referring to the second thread for rooting all versions? I read most of the thread. Can you point me towards an "ODIN flashable recovery?" This is my main confusion. I don't understand what the differences between kernels, firmwares, and android versions. I don't know why there are so many of each and why each carrier has its own.
Im referring to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3021120 its literally the first one in the att s5 general section.

Rooting Help

Im new to android and would like to root my Galaxy s5 running 4.4.4. I have tried the towelroot application and it says device not supported. I have tried the various modstrings and none of those work. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You didnt specify your model, but it seems like you are on a verizon or at&t model based on your android version, theres model specific forums for those with plenty of guides, please let us know of your model, and i can give you the link if you cant find it.

Verizon Galaxy s5, I'm new to rooting. What should I know?

I know the s6 is out, an I bought a S5. I'm arriving fashionably late to this rooting thing.
I have never rooted any of my devices ever, and by what I here.. Shame on me.
I need to get the most outta my phone and clean it up from factory crap. I love the ability to customize my phone, but I have no clue where to start.
An very nervous of "bricking?" my phone or messing it up. I'm tech savvy so I think it wont be to hard...? What would I be able to do with my phone when it is rooted? Will it void my warranty and can it ever go back? I remember when I first heard about rooting and people where "Bricking" phones left and right... Kinda the reason I never ventured into rooting. Well I put my big boy pants on and ready to go.. lol I would appreciate any help.
More than likely you purchased your phone already running lollipop, and if so, you can't root. Not yet, anyway.

Verizon says it will be running 4.4 kitkat, the site and the verizon rep said the same thing.

FYI :
My version was OC1 or something (Lollipop) but fortunately not latest version, so I downgraded my one to NCG(Kitkat), and then rooted and upgraded it to OG5

Like the OP I, too, just bought an S5 but I bought it from a guy, NOT from Verizon. SO it's running Android 5.0 already. That's Lollipop, right?
Even though I have used Android for years I don't know all the terms (and am new to the XDA site). Is there a FAQ or something listing the basic stuff?
I got my old phone repaired -- a Samsung S3 running Android 4.4.2 -- so I presume it will be easier to learn to root, and I might want to start there.
UPDATE -- partly answering my own question by going to the xda-developers.com homepage and then scrolling to the bottom to see "root any device." I can see I still have a lot to learn, but there's some good info there

Bootloader is locked and there are no known vulnerabilities that would allow root. I doubt anyone is working on a root process considering how tightly locked down the bootloader is.
Help ROOTING Samsung S5 Verizon
I have rooted a few phones all have been Samsungs. It is really bad when you give your hard working money to someone to buy something and they can control how you use it. ,,Can someone please help. I have read for 3 days about rooting this Samsung Galaxy S5 5.0 and it seems to have the latest updates and the knox thing is 0x0, Anyways I did the Kingroot on one phone and the one click root on one. I am not into doing all that different stuff with my phone that most people do when they root it,,,My only purpose for rooting is getting all the extra bloatware off...I have read that the S5 5.0 can not be rooted. Can someone help me..All I want to do is remove the bloatware...Please if you know how to root it let me know

So you read in these forums that the S5 5.0 cannot be rooted, but then you ask if anyone knows how to root it. Trust me, if someone had figured out how to root 5.0 on the S5 it would be very prominent in these forums. No one knows how to root 5.0 builds of OE1 or newer on the Verizon S5. Not sure how much clearer that can be stated like it was earlier in this thread.

I'm having the same problem anybody find any useful tools? I found a YouTube video from someone from XDA developers with a rooted straighttalk s5 but it was not the SM-S903VL and I tried exactly what he said and downloaded the required files tried to flash through ODIN and still nothing. It fails everytime. I have rooted many galaxy phones but on the t mobile network and am wondering if there is some kind of code modification that needs to be done like that of t mobile's. Please need help!

I've tried just about everyway of rooting this S5 from straighttalk but have had no luck, no other S5 root works. I believe this is the newest model and nobody has a working root yet. I really hope soon someone figures one out for the SM-S903VL on 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Come on developers!

Umm, I'm fairly new to this, have down this a few times but in order to downgrade, don't you have to be ROOTed? I will have to look into doing this I guess. My problem is I just bought the phone brand new and it is my only phone. I have had much luck with other Galaxy S5s and Notes on other networks and am pretty familiar with ODIN so this was the first thing I tried. Could you explain a bit more the root.bat method? If it has to do with ADB, that doesn't seem to give me authorization when I connect it and use the adb devices command. It gives the serial number and says unauthorized. I have USB debugging enabled in the phone but still no luck with that either.
The first post in that thread I linked has directions. Read it carefully a few times. I don't know if it will work or not. The first step is to flash the pb1 firmware in that first post with the Odin version in that same post. If that works the rest probably will to. Read the section called 'installing pb1'

Try it. It's for the g900v. The s903vl has the same fcc id as a verizion s5 with a busted digitizer I have,so I think it is a 900v just with straight talks firmware on it.

Unfourtunately, no joy. Couldn't downgrade to lollipop. Odin says auth-fail. If we can figure out how to downgrade than maybe that method will work. Anyone have any other ideas?

How to root a Verizon S5 for a complete beginner

Specifications:
Android Version: 6.0.1
Model Number: SM-G900V
I need to root my S5 by Monday. I learned that 6.0.1 can't be rooted yet and may never be able to be rooted, so is there a way around this? I tried all of the online rooting apks but they didn't work. I don't know much about rooting but I've been trying for a while, can I get some help?
A few questions:
1. Why do you have to have it rooted by Monday?
2. What is your phone's CID?
3. How familiar are you with rooting, flashing, and the like?

1. going to do some stuff with my phone with a friend and it has to be rooted
2. sorry, i'm not sure what that is
3. i watched some videos but none of them worked, i tried odin and everything so ig i'm somewhat familiar but not completely, when i read what other users post i get confused. i'm not really interested in flashing though, just rooting
For #2, go get eMMC Brick Bug Check from the PlayStore. Run it and it will tell you the CID of your phone. I will only need the first two digits. To keep it simple, this will tell us who made one of the chips in the phone. In order to be rooted on 6.0.1, you have to be able to unlock your bootloader; that requires that you have a CID that starts with a 15.

Sorry to say but you will not be able to root, 6.0.1. The most recent update you would be able to root would be whatever the final version of Lollipop was and root that; I want to say it would be build PB1.

sorry just clarifying, so there's absolutely nothing i can do with it, like no way to maybe downgrade or work my way around? will a root be released soon?
You can downgrade to the Lollipop (5.x.x) build PB1 and root that. But you cannot root that phone on Marshmallow (6.x.x)
Also, you would lose root going from 5 to 6.
