As all we know, our*phone*only has one*speaker*at the bottom,*so playing music outloud without headphone is not always pleasant,
Especially compared to other flagship like HTC & iPhone 7 that utilize its earpiece as secondary speaker,
Coming from that idea, and based on what i already use and made for my other phone (OP3 & S8), i decide to create similar mod for this phone, since i love it much as well,
So
Here's the*file*mod you can use to make the earpiece (the one near your ear) of your*phone*to act as secondary*speaker, giving you more suround feeling, so that you can enjoy it more
Download attached*file,*
Flashed it through TWRP
Enjoy :fingers-crossed:

Is it no sound, or too subtle ?
I havent touch the mixer volumes, thus the output is quite low by default

We cant get same sound from upper speaker as from bottom one. You just get a bit better sound. Upper speaker is a lot smaller and weaker.
Try covering your bottom speaker, you will see its working.

It seems no sound at all permission must be rw-r-r i guess? Or maybe sound is very very low i couldn't know if sound is a bit from top or if i hear from bottom lol
Edit:it seems working but is there a way to have sound from top more high?
Mate, N or MM?
Path is vendor/etc/audio for N.
I would be happy to have a louder bluetooth with headset and Speaker.

@otonieru Have you a Solutions for that? Or should i insert level 5 volume for BT speaker?
I don't think it differs much from MM to N.

You can try to edit the default value of BT output in mixer volume
But in my case, for louder volume, am simply using dolby atmos, it boost all output and create good surround

System/etc/audio then search for mixer there will pop up 15 files one of them is it... unfortunately i don't know which of them because I'm not tried it on this phone...
(If you find which it is and edit dont forget to restart afterwards otherwise it won't work)
I suggest getting Viper4Android installed if you can.
It includes a Xtra Loud option that boosts the volume.

This is also possible with Viper.
For example by activating certain Convolvers. You can find suitable ones here on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216193).
Just remember to activate Expert UI settings in Viper to display all the options.
STILL NOT FIXED
I have rooted and unlocked my Axon 7 (A2017G) and edited the mixer_paths.xml file to make the audio output louder.
But there's a little problem (and I don't know if it's because of the mixer paths edit, I don't think so)
My top speaker sounds a lot more dull than my bottom speaker. My bottom speakers seem to be louder too.
How to check this? And are there more people experiencing this?
Thanks in advance.
Did not do anything to my A2017G, but I find that my top speaker is louder and "sparks" when near at full volume

Some say it's dust, but I don't know how. I haven't called with this phone much.
Bump. It's everywhere. Even on LineageOS, bottom speaker is almost twice as loud :/ It can't be dust.
BUMP
This problem is getting on my nerves. The bottom speaker is twice as loud and crispy as the top speaker, which sounds dull.
Anyone else had this and possibly fixed it?
Two questions
Did you try to reset your phone and test the speakers again?
Is there the same problem on YouTube and mp3 music files?

1. Yes I switched between roms to test modems and other stuff for ZTE.
2. Ofcourse. It's obviously the same on every output.
I guess it's just a hardware fault, but I thought maybe someone would have fix (clean it or something?)
Then I would say that this is an hardware problem indeed.
Having the same issue here, thought that other ROM will provide the fix but still zilch. Rooting the phone only meant the void of guarantee so not really good move there either.
I read somewhere online that usually bottom speaker is the one to go out first and that global version has the speakers a lot different then American and Chinese version). Any other possible fixes before replacing it? And where to find the replacement too?
Update: it should be software related since the sound in earphones has the same problem - only inverted. Which means there should be a tweak in binary or something?
I'm willing to pay to whoever makes this problem disappear. I'm beyond the point of helplessness here...
Fixed!
Fixed the issue finally! ??
Go to:
- settings
- advanced settings
- accessibility
- mono speaker output.
For the last trick to work, just try to disable it, then enable it and restart the device. Disable it again when device rebooted. Worked as a charm for me! So I'll be saving me some money ???

Omg! This problem was bugging me since day 1, but could not find any solution to this... But I've tried what you said and it works wonders! Can't believe I can now finally listen to music the way it was intented, since having a speaker with lower volume on a stereo setup is very annoying. Thank you very much for sharing the solution with us!

You're welcome buddy, I can imagine your happiness and that smile is thanks enough. Cheers.
Recently got a US F3521 and flashed over to the Euro firmware. I've really been liking the phone but noticed today that the in-call speakerphone only uses the bottom speaker on the phone. Does anyone know how to get both speakers working or increase the volume?
Also, the audio sounds great coming from this phone in general. I just wish it could be louder...
I believed the sound from either the bottom speaker or from both speakers is decided by the applications.
In youtube & music, I have both speakers output the sound, but the top one is giving smaller volume, however, Skype can only use bottom speaker.
I also flashed a US version with Euro firmware and updated with the latest Nougot Feb update.
Hmm, on both my Z3 Compact and Z5 Compact that was the stock behavior, but by modifying mixer_paths.xml you could force louder volume overall and dual speaker use always. I never made those modifications myself, so I'm not sure, but I bet the same could be applied to the X Compact for louder audio out of both speakers.
i would give it a try, where is mixer_paths.xml hidden ?
For louder audio you can download speaker boost app from play store. Works quite well!!

You can find it in root/system/etc, and if you end up modifying the file or replacing it, you must then set permissions back to rw-r--r--
Arjun in this forum had offered to modify the file (as I'm not sure what changes to make in it), but I haven't rooted and setup my new X Compact yet to pull the file and upload it:

Hi! I have problem with sound quality on the speaker. The sound on any custom rom is without bass. On Stock rom is very good. Is it possible custom rom does't have some audio drivers or frameworks ? Could someone do some MOD for this??

Use Dolby plus on magisk. Set the fx curve to U shaped in custom settings. It gives some quality sound; creates depth in the audio. However, if you want headphone-like bass, its not possible on this phone due to speaker hardware.

The stock ROM has amazing sound now after the .338 update.
I bought a Xiaomi Mi 9T and I noticed that the sound of the earpiece (frontal speaker) is really bad when I use the stereo mode (it's kind robotic or loud) expecially when I listen to bad quality audio. I solved this problem by setting mono mode but I don't think it's normal and I would like to use stereo mode in order to listen to music avoiding to switch between stereo and mono everytime I wanna listen to music. Is it a factory defect or is it normal?
Wut? Stereo Mode without mod? Earpiece was not made to handle this...

Maybe I said that badly. I mean that when I listen to voice message with a bad quality (with earpiece) and I'm using the Stereo mode I got a bad and loud effect. I solved this using Mono mode but if I set Mono mode, then I have to disable this manually everytime I wanna to listen some music with earphones. My question is why the sound is so bad when I listen to these vocals in stereo mode while it's better when I listen to these in mono mode?
Edit: nope, i don't use a custom ROM

You can try to download and (re)install "Full package update" of your current version via "Updater" app > '3 dots' options.
If it still not working properly, wait next update or an another answer from someone else.
EDIT: I use xiaomi.eu ROM (beta) MIUI 11 Android 10 (9.12.12), don't have this issue. Android 10 update for official Global ROM will come soon!
