i have used lg g2 for a couple of years and switched to g6 both att phones, in lg g6 it looks like we cant just copy ringtones to internal memory and then apply but go into settings and click + button and then add the coped ringtones but they are not sticking and default back to original ones and also trying to copy ringtones or other stuff via usb connection with PC i am not able to copy to rtones folder as it gets stuck and i was only able to add to downloads folder. another issue was after installing lg bridge on PC and i was able to see rtones folder but after a sync it disappeared and it appears there is some kind of write protection which the G2 did not have, any recomendations.
Not having this issue. Maybe it's something in the permissions you gave(or not)?
Try to create a folder mnt/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
This is the path on my H870.
thank you and i have tried but there was a media folder but it has whattsapp stuff and i created subfolder as advised and its still not sticking, i am not rooted so i might have to do a factory reset i think.
Did a factory reset and its working now but the strange part is if u copy any rtones make sure its only .ogg format and make sure to create new folders on downloads as it does not seem to recognise them elsewhere, lg bridge seems to be glitch at least for me.

Howdy all,
I'm planning on testing out some of the newer ROM's and updates since my last adventure, and I'm backing up my tablet accordingly. Normally, when I connect it to my computer I see all the files on my tablet and I'm able to drag/drop them to back them up, primarily the TitaniumBackup files and my CWM nandroid backups.
Recently, however, when I plug in my tablet it shows almost all the folders as empty. All the files are visible on the tablet, and I'm going through the painstakingly slow process of backing some of the important ones on my tablet to my MicroSD card atm, but I want to get back to the way I used to do things.
Can anyone guide me through this, so I can get back to the normal way?
I have a TF300T, rooted, unlocked, CWM for recovery, and running CM9 (Stable) atm. I haven't made any changes since CM9 was released, that was the last change I made.
Any help is appreciated

try this:
- plug the tablet to your computer,
- create a new folder, name it whatever you want (like "temp" for temporary,...)
- unplug the tablet
- use a file manager on your tablet, all backups files you want to copy to your computer - copy them to the "temp" folder you just created
- plug it in to your computer, go to the "temp" folder and i think you should see all of your files, so you can back up them.

Yea I basically did that and with a combination of AirDroid got the majority of my important files copied over. I don't care about much else but I got my nandroid backups copied which took quite some time.
Hi, I downloaded a big iso file (say file x) on my nexus 4. weird thing is I can't see the file from my pc when I connect my phone to my pc. I can see the folders on my phone but can't see the folder (say folder f1) that contains the file..
Even more weird thing is when I moved some file in the f1 to a folder (say f2) using Astro file manager that can be seen from my pc. I can see the file in f2 on my phone, but it's not on my pc.
Then I renamed a file (file y) in f2 in Astro. Both fy and f2 can be seen on my pc. But on my pc I can't see the name of y changed.
In short what kind of changes I made to my files on my phone, nothing happens on my pc. I have unplugged the cable and repluggd it but the situation is still the same.
Also, I can create folder/file from pc and they can be seen from my phone.

All right, it's suddenly just fine. No idea why.
Was going to say it could be due to the horrible MTP that Android now uses instead of Mass Storage.
MTP Limits large files from being transferred to and from the device.
(and only shows some folders, usually the basic Music, Downloads, Pictures, etc - and folders that were created on the device via the computer)
But since it just showed up, I have no clue...
I have no problems with MTP, all my folders and files show up on my pc. Can also transfer large video files without a problem. The size limitation by the way is 4GB.

Sometimes you may have to reboot the phone to be able to see the files. Works for me. After download some files I can't see them immediately, have to reboot phone then plug in and files will be there.

I've had trouble with MTP, unable to write certain files... So I have to Zip them, copy them over, then unzip them from within Android. And I made some Backups of my Apex Settings and such, before uninstalling the app, when I plugged the N4 into my computer the location where Apex saved the file did not show.. Once I finally just saved them to my Google Drive from the phone, I was unable to copy them back over to the N4 (hence the reason for needing to ZIP them) - Also I recreated the Apex settings folder myself via Windows Explorer in the Android Folder of the n4 but Apex was unable to find it. When I clicked Backup within Apex, it normally will inform you of an overwrite if backup files already exist, but this did not happen.
I have the basic folders appear in Windows Explorer (Alarms, Android, DCIM, Downloads, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcast, and Ringtones) ... The Android Folder (where Apex saves its backups) would only display a few select folders (those related to media) so the Apex Backup folder is not visible in Windows Explorer...
Anyhow, I'm certainly not a fan of MTP... but will read the article you posted and maybe it will help/change my view
First, LOVE the "similar thread" search results, pure awesomeness. Sadly, they didn't have the answer or question related to the problem I'm seeing.
Regardless of whether I'm on my PC laptop or MacBook, the files I see in windows explorer/android file transfer aren't the same as what's on the device.
For example, I wiped my titanium backup folder to create fresh backups. After deleting all the files I used Root Explorer to go in and verify that the TitaniumBackup folder in "/sdcard/" was empty, and it was.
Plug my phone into both the PC/Mac, it's still showing files in that folder from before I deleted them. Same with my text/sms backup, I use rerwares mybackuppro and it saves everything as zip files. Saved everything, went into the folder in we/aft, didn't show the zip I just created, showed zips from the previous days.
Now, if I wait like a day or so, and then go back into the phone, it's like it finds them then, like what I'm seeing on the phone isn't up to date or something with what I see on computers (this makes me miss external SD cards, very very badly).
Anyone else notice this? Happening with both N4's I have right now (one's a replacement, going back). Very frustrating in trying to transfer all of my info over but can't because it's not finding my backups that I just created.
Thanks for your time.

Try copying smaller groups of files at a time.
Ex
The Android folder will cause this issue when trying to copy it and all sub folders at once by simply selecting the Android folder and copying it.
Instead, create an Android folder in your destination folder (where you are copying to) then create each subfolder as well (data, obb, etc). Then just copy each folder within data, obb, etc, individually. It's a PITA, but this is how I've always bypassed the problem.

did it work ?
I just had the same problem. It may be some sort of corrupted folder. Here's what worked for me:
I think it started when I tried copying multiple folders instead of just one at a time, as I usually do. I cancelled because it was taking so long.
After that I constantly got the exact same thing you describe ... Had to kill Windows Explorer over & over.
What I noticed: Windows Explorer could surf into other folders, but clicking on one particular folder always hung Explorer.
So, I went in on the phone's My Files app, and did the following:
1. Looked at the folder - It appeared fine.
2. I copied all the files out of the folder
3. Deleted the folder
4. Recreated it
5. Copied the files back in
It took a few tries, but after that everything is back to working normally.
Ive done this on g2 g3 g4 now the stylo. I use root explorer. But i guess any file explorer of your choice.
goto system/media/audio. Change each sound as u see fit. System uses .ogg flacc files for boot sounds keep em under 10 seconds or will lengthen boot time and chop clip off.
Rember make backups first always always always. Slight edit so theres no confusion new sounds must have same name as original examp.ogg. i think ones called twinkle.ogg new file must be named twinkle.ogg i move origes to a new folder first for backup and so theres no overwrite conflicts. But can confirm it works on ls991
New edit beforw hand u have to mount system rw.
