I've noticed Firmware Finder has been updated 3 or so times in the last few days due to some bugs, it now no longer shows B180 as available at all, just B181. Previously both the full and smaller versions of B181 were showing as authorised, now just one smaller sized version of B181 out of the 4 it shows are available are showing as authorised....but still fails to authenticate after downloading

Firmware Finder was updated yesterday and I checked authorization of full OTA B181 (with IMEI), FF answered YES! I started the "send firmware to updater" and changed wifi to Server=Localhost + port=8080 and the download started slowly. Then I paused the download, changed the wifi back to normal and restarted download again.
After downloading all night: I AM NOW updated from B172 to MHA-L29C636B181 and on 5th May 2017 security.
Good luck

Hi Tex!
Two questions:
1. are you on the same code C636?
2. did you chose the FF option of sending your IMEI? I suppose that you updated FF to the latest ver.
Good luck

Hi Kurt,
Yes, on MHA-L29C636B172.
Yes, sent my IMEI and got the message saying it is approved, also running latest version of FF.
This has been so frustrating!

Hi Tex!
You are absolutely right about the "special peculiary" update policy - or rather very irritating policy - from Huawei's side. They are selling the mate at at rather high price, telling lies about which type of ram they include, at start mending the phone at a very slow and unpredictable way. In my case the touchscreen have not been working properly before this B181 update.
I sincerely hope you get your proper update soon. So you have to keep trying

Yes, definitely have been choosing the 85027 file (the other full OTA which is 85049 is showing as not approved when I check it anyway), have tried twice now and wasted 5GB+ data doing so!

You are not alone, no joy here in NZ either.
Given it's the same hardware with the same software build, I'm wondering if they're checking against the MNC/MCC of the installed SIM card(s) when authenticating. May be worth trying without a SIM installed.
A previous update (156?) passed auth when a new Huawei ID was created for a region that had the update approved, so there may be several components at work here. Keen to find out the common elements between devices that have and have not passed the auth check for the update to make this easier in future.
EDIT: Nope, removing the SIM (and switching regions) achieved nothing, still fails auth. Must be server-side.

Is there anyone out there that knows how to update the Mate 9 Pro (Lon-l29c)? The firmware finder app seems suspiciously unable to supply an "authenticated" update package, & paying funky Huawei every time I need to update is a bit to much for me. I have the files for the update, I just have no idea how to go about making the phone use it even recognize the files. Are there any methods available other than the two I mentioned?

Not to be rude, but I posted to find another method other than funky Huawei. Even with the fact that it's just $30 for 5 updates is way more than I would ever spend for something I've done for free. I plan to have this phone for years, and I'm pretty sure there'll be more than just 5 updates in a year (there's been 3 in the 2 months I've owned the device already).

Do you need to do any extra steps on the Mate 9 Pro? Is not having an external sd card in our phones a problem?
Currently considering rebranding to C636, since that versions seems to get updates fastest.

Did you use FF ?
Did you use the OTA-MF or the FullOTA-MF?

Tried again. I just kept getting that incremental stuff where it keeps wanting to download another patch.
So. I cleared the folder specified in FF, rebooted the phone and then it kept saying the connection was unstable.
So, I uninstalled FF Proxy and then reset the connection. File downloaded. Phone rebooted and said it couldn't verify the file and now.....
"Your device has failed verification" on boot up. It will work if I press the power button, but something is clearly wrong. It suggests I use 'ERecover' which states it will download the most recent build over Wifi.
Balls. Will give it a try - but I fear I've bricked the bloody thing!

Ah. Thanks for that. That's how you get around that problem!
Onto the new problem - "Your device has failed verification." Huawei's own solution failed. I presume it only works in Asia or China. It appears to want you to use 'ERecover' and wifi*not fully booted phone) to download a system image. Doesn't work. (Funky Huawei use this method, but they change your DNS so presumably ERecover points at their servers for a fee.)
Apparently factory reset doesn't work either and I didn't wanna start from scratch again.
I Googled about and this does seem a relatively common issue and someone else got the issue on a Huawei Mate 9 (not pro) doing the same thing. The OTA updates can cause this, he flashed an older firmware. I tried to flash the older firmwares, two of which got 'not authenticated' messages. So, going for broke, I had a go at installing the newest B182 firmware FULL again through FF. By some miracle - it worked and fixed the "Your device has failed verification." issue as well!!
Phew. So managed to get B182 on L29C636. :victory:
Only weird thing I got was Google Drive didn't want to work post installation(kept saying no network connection) - so I deleted all data from Google Play and this started working again.
Now that I know the critical point in using FF - "Download latest full package" as stated above. This shouldn't be such a ballache.
Can anyone confirm the benefit of converting the C636(Asian) to the European version- C432?
Which is the last official OTA checking from update system for this model VKY-L09C432?
I have had only the OTA 123. But I see with ff also 125 and 130 but not from system update.

Which region / location are you in?
Just Unboxed my unbranded P10+ , and out of the box its on 120.. but no b130 OTA.. ... Im in UK, which is c432 region.. but as Goranock pointed out.. Huawei do OTA via location..
You could try downloadiong Huawei's HiSuite and trying an update
Im a little cautious about manually flashing Hauwei roms... I used to have a P9, but flashing a stock C432 Rom on a stock C432 device changed it to a C900.. which renders it useless to Stock OTAs and Android Pay.. according to some XDA modders.. the C900 on the P9 was a test / safe mode rom.. not a consumer rom,, so be careful .. although I cant say what the P10+ would do, but Im net messing with any Hauwei roms.. Ive even read of folk flashing a stock rom.. and bricking their P9.... just a word of caution
Hope UK gets it soon
I am a bit puzzled that the updates are not more of an issue here. I think it's really annoying that currently there seem to be no other ways for manually initiating the update than to use (the way too expensive) funkyhuawei or to unlock bootloader. Did anyone manage to successfully initiate an update by using a VPN and if so what location do I use to do so?

Yes, thank you, I know about that way though but the thing is I dont want to even have to unlock the bootloader in the first place, even if it ends up being locked/relocked afterwards. Personally that's just too much of a hassle just to install updates in my book. But since you said you are from Italy and you obviously already have received the update I'm gonna try and use an Italian VPN to try and see if I can at least upgrade to B123 then. Even though I feel that's a bit ridiculous now that not only B130 but also B133 seems to be out already. By the speed they are distributing their updates OTA I'm probably not gonna till B133 by autumn or something...
Edit: nope, tried several European countries, obviously VPN doesn't help...
Just wondering : what's the changelog for B133 ?
Pretty new to Huawei's firmware here... on the russian FF site I don't see it.

No it doesn't invalidate the warranty because those updates are the official ones. And because of that, it does not need to be rooted to work. I went 12 rounds with that app and finally figured it out so if you need any help with it, I would be happy to help you save some time.

Use HWOTA or FunkyHuawei to get updates. Even Firmware Finder will allow you get C432B162.
Thanks all for the advice, I used Firmware Finder and now have my P10 Plus running B162.
One upside of the upgrade is that I can now use the full 220mbps available from my Virgin Hub instead of the 30mbps I was limited to before.
Seems I've run into a little trouble updating to the latest firmware version on Firmware Finder. B175 is available but when I try to install it shows as unauthorised. I've tried this with both the proxy enabled throughout the upgrade and disabled after the initial setup. Any ideas?

This happens a lot with Firmware Finder, it's not always possible to install f/w even though it's available. In this instance your two options are HWOTA method (search these forums) or Funky Huawei's pay service.
The only improvement in B175 is Android Security Patch dated 5th October.

If you have September Security Patch then I wouldn't worry too much, I think that's the one that fixed the BlueBorne vulnerability...
HWOTA requires backing up, unlocking bootlader (which wipes device), updating then restoring. That's too much bother for me so I chose to pay for the upgrade. Each to their own. Firmware Finder is great but it requires Huawei authorising the update, which they don't always do.

I have this problem with b175, all the others work.
I contacted firmware finder and they couldn't really understand English. If you notice though on ff there is a few other updates that are not compatible too listed above,to be fair I'm not sure b175 is even out on the p10 plus yet? It's only mentioned for the p10 when you Google search but it's annoying me now because I want another update just to verify that my phone can be still kept up to date via the app
hi all,
I am really struggling with this. My P10+ is on B120 and I cannot for the life of me upgrade it. I tried Firmware finder in proxy mode or download mode. I tried downloading it on the pc and copy to the sd card , still no luck.
I seem to be getting, this firmware is not verified or that the download isn't verified. i also now have to press the power button whenever i restart the phone. is there any solution to this ?

Any idea why I've not had any updates on my Sim Free UK P10 Plus? I'm still running VKY-L09C432B120. Have updates been released in the UK for this phone? Also, not sure if it's related, in About Phone>Certification: it says Serbia.

I did make an attempt but it didn't work for me. I'm not that confident going through the process either. Was kinda hoping there'd be an OTA waiting for me. Huawei Twitter support says B162 is the latest authorised release from them but can't seem to tell me much else.
Anyone resolve this issue yet? I will get in touch with huawei and ask if needed. im b120 still running march 2017 update. it a shame. i bought from amazon uk
Good news guys! I figured out the way to download the software updates! Go into the preinstalled app on your phone called Emui Software Updates, click on the three dots on top right of your screen, and click on download latest software packages.. Voila! Hope this helped! Im currently downloading B171 for my UK sim free p10.
A new Firmware is showing up in Firmware Finder, changelog:
This update optimises settings and prompts related to Mirror reflection to select better selfies.
Optimises settings and prompts related to Mirror reflection to select better selfies.
Integrates Google security patches for improved system security.
Although it's not yet approved for installation :/
And at this time No Full Update ROM in Firmware Finder. I Hope Huawei will enable IT soon.

I'm wondering if the manual update will work after it's approved. I have a bad experience with flashing otas. Only full otas have worked so far...

Full updates can be flashed manually but OTA can not. PV versions can be flashed via twrp and FullOta-MF via dload.

We can. If there is ota update oushed to your phone, Download from FF and put in HwOuc folder and check the updater, it will be 100%. No real use though

What do you mean no real use?
Did someone manage to manually install any of the available otas?
Update success
The update is now approved for installation!
Make sure you download the OTA with the biggest file size, the other OTAs failed the installation.
I got the October security patch and EMUI was updated to 5.0.1

Hmmm, can't install update 390 on my Nova...
Neither DNS nor changing proxy helps. Which one have you been using?

I just setup the in app proxy and downloaded it from the system updater
Good evening, are you using the proxy to the end? I have to remove it once the download starts otherwise it says "unstable connection". The download is going well but do I have to give the proxy for the installation? Thank you and good evening

If I do so it downloads the OTA, then Patch 1, Patch2, Patch3 and after Patch 5 I gave up...
Then I downloaded all files manually and placed them into the dload folder of my SDCARD, started update with 3 button method, but this didn´t work either...

Can you please tell me what is your build number ?
I just tried the HFF proxy method with the three OTAs on my L51C432 but all failed after 15 % of installation (after the reboot).
Did anyone else succeeded ?

My build number before the update was NEM-L51C432B355 then it updated to B357. Are you sure the update didn't work? When my installation went to 50% I got the installation failed error then it rebooted, but I checked the about phone page and my build number changed so the update was applied successfully even though the installation failed.
Check your about phone page to see if it updated.
BTW im using Elite ROM V6 now.

You need to leave the proxy on during a firmware finder download. You can change it back after the update is applied.
Thank you it worked perfectly. I didn't need to reset the proxy. On the other hand the download took hours!
Works perfectly, but I had to re-unlock my bootloader.
Maybe not related, but I can't update the Google Play Services to 11.7 after unlocking because of different signature. I had to restore a backup from Titanium Backup to get the last version. Is it just me ?
Got this 513MB update yesterday (about 20 hours ago).
6 November Google security patch,
Build number changed from MHA-L29 8.0.0.321(C636log) to MHA-L29 8.0.0.360(C636) - log removed from C636,
Also, beta notification gone from dropdown.
636 is better 432 ??

Yes OTA, I just got a notification in the update center and ran the update.
Here is a guide to install the b360A and do rebrand to c636 https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...e-oreo-rom-c636b360a-installieren.857223.html

That depends on what variant you have, the official Oreo is out for the AL00, C636, and C432 regions, it's not out for the rest of us yet. You can rebrand to a C432 variant and install the European version (C432), or one of the others. Otherwise you'll have to wait on the official version to come out for your region
I am in Europe (Greece) L29 C432 B198 and Oreo is not available yet..........

Use FF to update. It doesn't need any rooting, unlocking and so on.

Btw.. I noticed that.. After upgraded my mate 9 to oreo through OTA... There's something missing.
1: Vulkan api no longer supported.
Performance issues.
1: 3D mark scores with Oreo are worse than Nougat.
2: 2k and 4k downloaded videos and movies, lagging and stuttering while playing.. Especially with 60fps ( idk.. Perhaps 3rd app not optimised for oreo)
And i didn't face any of this problem with Nougat.
Btw.. I love the EMUI 8..
There isn't an Oreo update on FF for C432 or C636

You should have added a model (MHA-L29) in FF. Usually you will find your model in parentheses; MHA-L29 8.0.0.361 (C636), for example. You'd better check firmware access before any updating or downgrading.
Yes, after upgraded to emui8, i found my mate 9 is terribly hang and lots of the apps crashed or spent more than 3mins just for ran it.
The interface is nice but the phone is too slow or taken too much of time to load.

Had the same and was steadily getting worse. Had emails not displaying, apps not opening etc.... Few days ago i wiped data and factory reset and so far its blisteringly fast once more and zero issues. Probably worth doing that for you.

Thanks, I wonder why they changed the naming convention.
My OTA update came in yesterday. Several important (to me) apps stopped working. I need to go back.
I'm not experienced with Huawei methods, so I need some pretty specific instructions to go back on US version. If anyone can point me to that it would be appreciated.
I am tempted to wipe and reload apps, but I have so much setup to do with that, I hate to take that time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the two main apps I want working and they just won't work.
