On any Lineage based ROM, whenever I play a YouTube video (specifically within the YouTube application), after about thirty seconds the video begins to get very choppy and appears to start streaming at 10-15FPS. The audio also slightly de-syncs from the video when this occurs. Upon pausing and resuming the video, the issue disappears for approximately thirty seconds before coming back.
Is anyone else running a Lineage based ROM having issues with YouTube playback stuttering? Anyone have any potential solutions?
I've tried wiping data and installing older versions and beta versions of the YouTube app. I've done numerous clean installs of LOS ROMs. So far nothing has seemed to work...

Since the 3.2 update I have been seeing an issue with flash videos in the browser. The video starts playing but then after about 2 mins it freezes even if the video is fully loaded. It has happened on several sites with embedded youtube clips and also on the BBC news site.
Anybody else seen this?
nop.. no prob for me
I have narrowed it down to an issue with the Wi-fi. I have opened this bug on Google code:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=18648&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars
Please star it if you notice the same issue.
I thought it was my router but it seems to be fine now and the DHCP error is still being logged.
Hi,
I face the same issue, the video stops after a few seconds but the the data is still streaming in, the audio still continues but the screen freezes. Trying to restart the video does not work when you press stop and resume.
Shifting the play bar to another time starts the video but it stops again after that.
Any idea how to over come this problem? Strange thing is that it is random, meaning some videos from the same web site are okay while others are not okay.

Im on 3.2 and I cant play flash video above 480p on any site. Its just super choppy.
I have searched and can't come up with any other threads that describe my issue. Any time I play video it freezes for a fraction of a second about every 15 or 20 seconds. The audio isn't interrupted, it's just these tiny video freezes. This happens with Netflix, my downloaded Transformers movie and DroidTV. Basically any video, whether streaming or downloaded.
I did a factory reset and even exchanged my N7 for a new one but I'm still getting these tiny freezes. Anyone else experience this? I thought maybe it was the DroidTV app messing it up but I uninstalled it and my Transformers movie still freezes. Not sure what else to try. Thanks.
Hi everyone,
I recently flashed the 2014-10-18 Kit Kat nightly on my N9005 using TWRP, and believed the process to have gone well. However, whenever I attempted to playback video using MX Player or VLC, the phone reboots to the AOKP boot animation. Additionally, when listening to long podcasts and the like, I begin to hear a muffled/noisy sound after five or so minutes, which, upon rewinding, disappears and then reappears in a couple of minutes. My largest concern is very much the lack of video playback.
Should I attempt to reflash the same ROM, flash a different ROM, or is there something that I can do to perhaps fix these problems?
Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
For the past couple of days now, whenever I try to play a video, I hear the audio fine, but don't see any video, just a black screen. At first I thought it was trouble with my YouTube app since that's basically where I only watch videos and read on several forums that the issue was caused by having the official twitter app (which is weird since I don't have twitter). I also tried restarting my phone, uninstalling/reinstalling youtube, installing older versions of youtube, all of which never worked.
So I decided to swallow my pride and just download a fake youtube alternative. To my surprise, the videos still show a black screen and only play audio. This had me thinking, so I tried to play a video in my camera roll I downloaded... Same problem, however, if I play a video I recorded myself on the phone it works... The even weirer part is though, that if I play a video through youtube via the Chrome browser it works (despite it looking like 140p and horrible audio) but it works! I've also tried smart cleaning, deleting cache and data but to no avail.
Is there a problem with my phones flash player, or whatever extension it uses? I know Chrome uses its own built in player which could explain why it sorks in Chrome but not anywhere else.
This all seemed to happen randomly, I didnt do anything. Games and other media including music still seem to work fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Also I am rooted on 12A and have been for the past 6 months.
I'm also having the same issue with my vs995 running on rooted 12A
Hi, so mine is MaxPro M1 3/32 variant. Few weeks ago i flashed DerpCaf ROM with Pico gapps. Everything went great, i have no issue. I decide to install Youtube Vanced via Magisk and it's been working flawlessly. Until recently, it started to force closing without any reason. It doesn't have any notice like "Youtube has stopped working" or something like that. The video just freeze for a few second, and the screen goes full black then i'm back my home screen. I tried re-installing it but no luck. The weird part is, now it's also happening when i'm playing video with other app like MX Player or my browser like when i'm playing a video on facebook. (i'm using Mint browser btw).
I have the log when the force close happen in Youtube Vanced if it make any help to identify my problem.
Exactly same problem persists in my phone running on Havoc OS. Yet to find what is causing it.
try non-root method of vanced youtube
