Nlpwackelock and Nlp.collector.wakelock - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Google play services is kepping my device awake more than before (like 1 hour). Never had this kind of issue. The wakelocks are the ones from the tittles. This started happening after the upgrade on google play store. Don't know if them upgrade play services too or it is related to a particular app. Stock room, latest version.
Any ideas? Someone is having the same problem?
Thanks in advance

"Google Services" High Data Usage

I'm very confused with my wife's N4. "Google Services" has used ~1.5GB of data in the last 3 days. My wife uses her phone for facebook and texting. She doesn't have any data heavy apps. Any ideas on what do to stop this from continuing?
Maybe try turning off location services or maybe try backing up everything and do a factory reset?

That was my next option, but I'd rather not have to go through that. Anyone else have anything? Are there apps that could tell me which "google service" was the data hog?

I am having the same problem. I just tried disabling app data sync under Google account settings. Let's see if that helps... I use Titanium backup to back up apps and app data anyways...

I tried doing that, and disabiling background data for it through battery manager, but that eliminates all google sync. I eventually just backed things up and moved on to a newer rom. Like I said, it is my wife's phone and didn't feel like trying to figure out the root cause. If it were my phone, I'd be more patient. Hopefully you can find an answer. 500MB a day is nuts. Glad we're on "unlimited" with StraightTalk.
My brother and I just got the same problem as well. He has been on Paranoid for over 3 months and just yesterday Google Services used up 1.5gb out of no where (in a few hours). Just today, im on Carbon, my Google Services used up 500mb (in a few hours). Thankfully, I noticed that my battery was going too fast so I went in and turnd off background data for Google Services.
Any one have an idea of what is going on?
I noticed this problem on my phone a couple of weeks ago and asked about it here. Unfortunately no one knows what's really going on.

System Update Issue
I've noticed this same issue since i updated all my Google Play applications last 07/30. Before the update, I did not have this high bandwidth consumption.
Anyways, i've been researching in my phone and tried the following solutions:
First, I restricted Google Services background data, this did not work, it was still consuming my data. So I kept researching and found something interesting, i went to About Phone - System Update, and noticed my phone was consistently trying to update to 4.3 JB (which is 183 MB), and after the download was complete, then a "verification failed" error message was displayed.
At this point, i thought, This is probably the cause i've been losing all of my data. I am running ParanAndroid along with franco kernel for some time, maybe this is the reason the update is failing.
So, a rough solution i did to this meanwhile: Go to Settings -> Apps -> All and disable Google Services Framework, this will ensure that the update is not constantly being downloaded, however, many Google applications will have issues.
Guys I am facing such extremely annoying Google Services (DownloadManager in BBS) battery drain + mobile/wifi data usage issue and I have been searching for some hours.
First of all I have tried the most answered solution - clearing the data of all those stuffs related to Google Services - well it did not work so well.
Then I don't think freezing download manager / factory reset / restrict background data / disabling google services framework are good solutions as I myself did not make changes related to this recently so a factory reset should not be needed, plus the other mentioned solutions would cause syncing issues with Google and this doesn't suit my lifestyle of heavily depending on various google services.
Many of you have proposed that the massive download / repeated downloads are related to downloading the 4.3 OTA and that might be possible according to the similar file sizes as well as logcats you have found. But on the other hand one of the solution - disabling Network Locations settings has also stopped the "download" triangle from constantly staying there when my wifi is on. Therefore we can conclude that it is partially related to the 4.3 OTA download which cannot be disabled on our custom ROMs, as well as partially about the stock Network Location settings.
Fortunately after many posts that do not provide a feasible answer I have found this xda post which addresses the issue related to the Google Play Store 4.1.6. Some of the users have reported that 4.1.10 has fixed the issue and some even said the newest version 4.2.9 is over the internet since 25/7 together with 4.3 update.
Not sure why such critical update did not roll out to the unluckily bunch of us from Google, but I have found the Android Police source about 4.1.10 fixing the "Network Location bug which hogs the battery" and hopefully this will stop the DownloadManager wakelock as well as the crazy battery drain + data drain by Google Services.
I haven't tested this thoroughly because I will probably need a day to check out whether it stops the crazy behaviour but I would just like to share with you guys my founding as soon as possible so you guys can try it out together with me. The latest Google Play Store 4.2.9 apk can be downloaded from Android Police here.
Hope I have helped! Good luck to you and me!

Hi and thanks for sharing your investigation and findings so far. I looked at my Nexus 4 tonight and saw that it had downloaded 500mb over 3G so I disabled it and started searching for an answer. Definitely looks to be the OTA 4.3 issue, but installing Play Store 4.2.9 has done nothing for me. My phone has just sucked down another 500mb over WiFi under the "Google Play Services" heading and shows no signs of stopping.
I'm running CM 10.1 stable - really need a fix for this because otherwise I can't enable 3G without burning my whole quota in short order.
Darn, had this same problem, in one day 500mb over 3G.... Thats not cool.
Recently installed a new ROM, Cyanogenmod 10.1, and I think I found the problem. The gallery app was synching all photo's on my G+ account it seems.
Hope I nailed it, because we just went on holiday today and I need my data for finding information etcetrea. But I think this is it, as I can view photo's from vacations made decades ago whoile phone is in airplanemode...
Hope this helps others with this problem...
This is exactly the root cause. I've just lost a gig on 3G today. I'm on wifi now and update just keeping download & verification fail loop. I'm on PA Rom.

Here's how to disable the OTA download on any ROM
Install Autorun Manager from the Play store.
Then enter its recommended advanced mode.
Go into the settings and enable the following : system entries and system app disable.
Disable com.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService$Reciever under Google Service Framework
It would be great if the OP could be updated with this

Find "Disable Service" application from Play Store.

You can try this
It is definitely something to do with the 4.3 update. I was on PA 3.6 (Android 4.2.2) and had this problem. After upgrading my phone to Android 4.3 on the latest PA, I no longer have this issue. I think it is a problem in the ROM where they tried to remove the OTA feature, but instead it still tries to download the ROM via 3G in the background. Don't quote me on the above, but that is the only thing that makes sense to me!
Since I've reached my limit for the month (and I'm not even half way through doh), I have had to disable Mobile Data otherwise I would have had a hefty bill come through!

Google play services Crashing Repeatedly

Has anyone experienced Google play services stopping unexpectedly and crashing repeatedly since Google pushed the new update for it on 01/16/2014? My Google play services keeps crashing and from what I read in the reviews on the Play Store for the "app," it seems to be doing the same thing for a lot of other users. I have already tried wiping cache and even factory resetting my phone, but it does not fix the problem. Uninstalling updates for the app on the phone immediately generates a message from Hangouts, stating that the newest version is required. Anyone care to comment or let me know of a workaround for this? I am wondering if Google will release a fixed update soon again or if maybe waiting until KitKat will make it more compatible? Thanks!

Try clearing data for the app itself, in the "App info" area.
FYI the new version 4.2.42 of Google Play Services fixed all crashing issues. The issues were only with v4.1.

How to unlock bootloader on 183.46.15?

google play store stops working?

Ever since I updated my N10 to the Nov patch, the google play store stops working --- I *can* start the play store app, look up new apps and be told about updates of existing apps, but everytime I try to install a new app and/or update an existing one the play store will crash.
My N10 is rooted and I locked it down pretty tightly using xprivacy etc. I also have titanium backup of an older play store (5.9.12 -- the current one is 5.10.30), and when I restored 5.9.12 I can resume installing new app and updating old ones, so I don't think it is an xprivacy issue (?). But play store updates itself very quickly and it gets tedious...
Does anyone else run into this problem? Solution? Thanks!
Bump: Am I the only one with this problem? It seems that restoring play store version 5.9.12 has stopped working...
I'm about to post a message on the google support forum, but first I want to see if I'm the only one affected by this (I have another phone running 4.4.2 for which the play store has stopped working as well)
I solved the problem by clearing the cache of the play store and reboot. Stupid mistake

How I got "OK Google Everywhere" back on Kitkat

What I did was download a rooted stock ROM that I was already running (cnk2). I dirty flashed it onto my tmobile s5. Surprise! OK Google Everywhere! This confirms for me that Google has deliberately killed this function on their updates, I don't know of course which updates, but I would guess very possibly the search and Google App itself.
At this point I will continue to use the un-updated Google Apps, and report back on whether this adversely affects my use of the Play Store and so on.
Anyone not using Kitkat may be able to locate a ROM that contains Google Apps old enough not to have been damaged by Google. You of course flash that at your own risk. I was already using a stock ROM and flashed the same exact ROM, original version, over my running system.
If anyone would like, I can list whatever version of system app I am using that you think might be of interest in this situation.
Update
Yesterday my phone was getting really hot and the battery use showed that Google Apps was accounting for 16% of battery usage. I did some googling and found others were having this problem. I decided to see if updating Google play services would make a change. I updated:
Google app
Google play services
Google play store
Google text to speech
Google+
Afterward with testing, I still had Google Now Everywhere. My theory now is that an update of some kind that I have "leapfrogged" in this manner may have caused the loss of Google Now Everywhere. I can go into the Google app, select settings, and under voice/"ok google" detection/ I can still retrain the voice model and select "from any screen".

5.9.028. google play services and google play problems and errors

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Le Pro 3 X720 which I bought about a month or two after it was released. So, the problem is that one day (I don't remember when or what was it) I started getting notified that google play store has stopped working. I, stupidly, just ignored the problem because it didn't cause anything bad to my phone except that annoying notification, everything worked as usual. But after some time, my play store really stopped working and I couldn't download anything from it PLUS now I get notified that google play services stopped. Something like: "Sorry, Google Play Services stopped.", and when I try to enter my play store, I only get this: "Couldn't sign in. There was a problem communicating with Google servers. Try again later." I tried various solutions: deleting cache, deleting data, uninstalling and reinstalling, I tried dozens of stuff and then decided to factory reset my phone, but that also didn't help, furthermore, now I dont even have Chrome, Youtube, Snapchat and stuff which are all connected to google play services. I have seen somewhere that I'm not the only one with that problem, and that especially happened with new EUI update 5.9.028s (Stable). I BEG YOU to help me A.S.A.P. because I can't afford buying a new phone right now and I need some google services for my job.
Hmm, I wonder if this has to do with the new uncertified Gapps mess. https://www.xda-developers.com/google-blocks-gapps-uncertified-devices-custom-rom-whitelist/
Basically, phones that are not certified for the Play Store will not be able to use Gapps. But you can whitelist your phone if you register its GSF ID. The x720 isn't certified for Google apps because it was never released internationally. It was only released in China. So the original stock ROM doesn't have Google apps. However, vendors create their own modified versions of the stock eUI ROMs with Google apps and less bloatware. Which means the phones aren't certified for Gapps since Gapps weren't loaded by the OEM, but a third party.
But all of this is speculation. And probably has nothing to do with your problem. The Gapps uncertified issue only affects ROMs with an Android build date of March 2018. If your build date is older, which is 100% the case here, you shouldn't be affected at all.
My x722 is "uncertified" according to the Google Play Store (see Play Store > Settings in Play Store menu, scroll to the bottom). Yet I can use Google apps just fine. I'm on 20s, unrooted with a locked bootloader. Basically, if you're certified you can pass SafetyNet. Which means you'll be able to use banking apps that detect root (and don't function if your device is rooted), you can find Netflix in the Play Store (as opposed to finding its apk elsewhere and installing it), and so on.
You might have to flash a custom ROM like LineageOS. Doing this is really easy. All you have to do is unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP (literally just a few commands) and then flash the ROM. LOS most likely already includes Gapps. Rooted devices can use Magisk and Magisk Hide to bypass SafetyNet. eUI is pretty terrible and I don't recommend it unless you need to keep it until your warranty runs out (like me).

Just manual download google play services and update them.
If it will not let you get rooted and delete old google play services.
