Help! I can't fix my Nook Simple Touch! - Nook Touch General

Hello Nook Simple touch community! I recently pulled out my old pal the other day, and am having a lot of issues trying to get it to work! I would like to remove the root on the device and restore to stock firmware, and am using clockworkmod rc2 128mb on an SD Card with Alpha format 2 .zip
Whenever I try to flash the ZIP I get a "Installation Aborted error" I tried removing the get assest build prop line from the install script file, but still received the said error! I can't restore the device no matter what I try, and don't know what to do
Please help! I really want to fix this device so I can use it without buying another device.
The stock recovery has been overwritten by CWM if that's a problem then I dont know what to do
EDIT: I FIXED IT **MAKE SURE** that you disable Auto Unzip on macOS! That allows the restore to go through PERFECTLY!

Um...this is not a Q&A thread...

[Q] [Help Request] HTC Wildfire wont boot into android

Ok, I've managed to successfully root my phone a couple of months back using unrevoked (no problems there).
Recently Vodafone UK (my carrier) has released an OTA android 2.2 update which i was having trouble installing. I decided to attempt to un-root my phone and in my wisdom used the clockword Recovery mod to "Partitions menu > format boot"
believing that the factory default "boot" would be restored (big mistake) To make things worse i didnt make a backup of the boot partition using the "nandroid" option within clockworkmod (it seams obvious in hindsight)
anyway my current problem is that i'm stuck with a phone that wont boot into android and only my self to blame. Bellow are the current screens/options that i am able to access.

After doing some research/googling i came across this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-807509.html
which in turn lead me to this file:
http://rapidshare.com/#!download|38l34|419254202|PC49IMG.zip|126004
The file which it says is missing. Once i have an SD micro card reader (going out to purchase one tomorrow) i am going to attempt to place this file on the sd card (in the boot partition?!) and use it to try and boot from.
My question(s):
Will this work?
Do i have any other options?
Is it possible to find and download someone elses backup file and use clockwork to restore from that?
Any and all help will be much appreciated!
EDIT: Apologies for posting this thread twice, I didn't know which forums to post in.
I would advise you to install a new rom via recovery. Download wildpuzzle or something. You do not need to buy card reader. If you cannot do this, I advise you to goto the stock roms website and download the 2.1 ruu and flash that then re root using un revoked

so all i have to do is simply run the RUU while the phone is connected? no need for a "gold card or similar?
Flash the wildpuzzle rom first try that and it should work.
thanks, this worked.

Hi,
I am getting the same problem that my Wildfire doesn't get pass thru the splash screen after the OTA update.
I tried this steps.
any advise you can give me?
thanks.
1st, You need a wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 (V0.6 gives 165mb) Wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 download page
2nd, Make sure that you BACKUP your SD card (copy whole SD card to computer).
3rd, Move wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 that you have already downloaded to the SD card (DONT delete the copy in computer).
4th, You need to WIPE ALL THE DATA (wipe/factory reset) in your wildfire and make sure that you have already made a backup of your rom before wiping.
5th, Make sure that you backup your SD card with your BACKUP (backup-ed rom).
6th, Run in recovery mode and select wipe/factory reset the data.
7th, Choose install zip from SD and install your wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1.
***I only get
"E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation Aborted

[Q] Is there anything to fix my phone?

I rooted my phone today. And everything was great.
I installed Clockwork. And applied CM 7.
I of course backed up my previous rom and everything was going smoothly until everything was completed.
My phone boot up as normal and then it got stuck in the CM logo.(now when I see a blue android skating I might puke)
So I tried to restore my previous rom but clockwork is defective. I selected 'backup and restore' and then nothing shows up in the screen..
Is there anything I can do to fix my phone?
I love this phone so much I really wanna fix it.
Any ideas?
since you are rooted, download the CM7 rom again (zip file) and put it on your SD card, then flash it from the recovery
Do all your flashing and backups from recovery, not from rom manager. You can confirm your backup exists by going to sdcard/clockworkmod/backups. If you did your original backup through rom manager, there's a good chance it's corrupted. Reflash cm7 from recovery if you can't restore your backup.
Sent from my HTC Glacier
I'm having basically the same problem. I just downloaded the cyanogenmod rom and put it on my sd card but I'm not sure how to flash it. Do i keep it as a zip and install it using the install update.zip thing? cause that gave me an error. Or do i extract it and put it in my backup folder and try to flash it using the restore option? Or is there some other option Im missing?
Thanks in advance
Ah ok I figured it out, I was trying to use the .zip for the a different model phone. I got it all working, thanks for the help guys!

clockwork recovery and nook 1.4.1 update

My problem is at one time or another I must have accidently installed clockwork recovery on the emmc of my nook. I can boot into the nook's software just fine, but when I tried to apply the update it boots into clockwork mod and gives an error and won't install the update.
I normally always use cm7 off the sd card, but I want to have the new update on the nook when I want to boot to it.
My question is how do I get clockwork recovery off the emmc so I can install the update? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dude, I'm in the same boat. I didn't think I had CWM on there, but alas, I do...
The problem is that when it tries to execute the install an error comes up saying that the ROM is unsigned. Weird cause it came from the Nook website...
This might help
I had the same problem. This thread solved it for me. I used the file to remove CWM.

[Q] nook color CM10.2 update problems CyanogenROM_Downloader/TWRP

Hi all. I have a Nook Color running CM 10.2 and am trying to upgrade it without success.
I have Superuser, CyanogenmodRom_Download, and TWRP downloaded.
Using CyanogenmodROM_Downloader configured to use TWRP I can successfully download a new Nightly. When I select Flash it takes me to Cyanboot. I select Internal eMMC Recovery and it brings up a notice saying that the Install Failed.
I tried using TWRP->Install->CyanogenROM_Downloader->cm-10.2-20131009-NIGHTLY-encore.zip. I'm not Wiping anything. Cyanboot into Internal eMMC recovery and the existing release instead of the update is installed.
Also, the only way I can tell which build is installed is with the CyanogenROM_Downloader. I looked around the web for something that would tell me where to look and didn't find anything. I also looked around /etc and didn't find anything obvious. Is there an easy way to tell what nightly build is installed?
I've been beating on this step for a couple of days now and looking around this site and the web and haven't found anything that helps although I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve S.

Go into system settings / about tablet (at bottom of settings)
About 3/4 down list you'll see the ROM installed. Also kernel info plus other info.
For updates ;
I go to this link and download directly.
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=encore
Also I copy and paste the md5 sum into MD5 checker (free in play store), run the check.
Reboot into recovery using power button menu and install in TWRP there. I had too many problems using cm downloader, goo manager, etc.
nook color cm10.2 update problems
Thanks. That helps. I can determine the version now.
But I still can't get update to work. I downloaded from the location you gave using the browser and can see the file using TWRP and selecting install. This boots into the cyanoboot loader, there are two options enabled: 'Internal eMMC Normal' and 'Internal eMMC Recovery.' Normal seems to reboot -- which makes sense. Recovery re-installs the currently installed version. Also, using ADB I can see the new cm-nightly zip file in /storage/sdcard1/Download.
I don't see TWRP during the reboot. Should I??
I also don't get an option to select a new image to install. Should I?
I also tried copying the cm-nightly zip file to the /emmc directory and that doesn't seem to make any difference.
Sounds like a problem I had a while back

You may be having partition problems. I have had either lost the ability to install new nightlies or the ability to backup. Read the instructions through completely first. Get the info together and then start.
If you have a backup App like titanium backup, backup all files and data before anything else. Also if you can, do a backup in recovery before doing the following.
Check this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28457126#post28457126 by Leapinlar
I set up a 2Gb sd bootable card to run these from using the CWM recovery (If you need help check eyeballer's link below).
I put the partition repair files on it. Also the 1.4.3 Stock rom, the TWRP open recovery. zip 2.4.1.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37554712&postcount=129), and the latest Rom you want to install and Gapps.
After following leapinlar's instructions including installing the 1.4.3 Stock rom (fixes other possible problems), then follow eyeballer's install for the Rom, Gapps and recovery here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227&highlight=install+cm7+to+nook+color).
After booting and doing the initial CM setup return to recovery and VERY IMPORTANT ***restore only the data*** Not boot or system from your latest backup. This should get you back up and running. If you have a backup like Titanium restore "newer versions of apps" if you had to use an older recovery backup. Once you have everything set reboot into recovery and do another backup for safeties sake.
Including my wife's Nook I have four units and have needed to do this 4 or 5 times. Takes a little time but has always worked great. I keep the card available and update the Rom, Gapps or whatever else needs changing.
This link also contains a lot of helpful info. I have all these bookmarked on both my PC and Nook.

Phone stuck in bootloop

Good morning everybody.
I have a rooted Galaxy xcover 2 with link2sd installed in order to solve the classic memory issue problem. The program gave me troubles in moving apps to the sdcard, so i read on the internet that i should format the sdcard properly in order to use it.
Afer followind the procedure of the tool, my phone got stuck in boot.
I can still use download mode and odin works, but
-If i flash the stock rom, i cannot anymore access cwm recovery
-if i flash cwm recovery, the boot sequence let me access ONLY the recovery (like there is no rom inside).
when i try to wipe from cwm, it says it can access to cache and data partitions.
I think that the tool damaged somehow the partitions of my phone. How can i fix that?
I've been oversecure while flashing and i didn't make any nandroid of my phone. Can anyone give me one?
your help is veery appreciated,
Thank you!
PS: if you need to looki inside the tool code, there is a file called "dos.sh", but i didn't find anything particular
I have this problem when flashing to the stock rom. Maybe try this :

For those trying to install this or another rom and having the no signal(no smallband) problem. This worked for me on 2 xcovers.
Install cmw: http://theunlockr.com/2014/02/27/install-clockworkmod-recovery-samsung-galaxy-xcover-2-gt-s7710/
Root it: http://theunlockr.com/2014/02/27/root-samsung-galaxy-xcover-2-gt-s7710/
Now normally you can install the custom rom now(vanir). If you do you probably get no signal.
Start odin and flash this file : S7710XXAMB6_S7710OXEAMB3-20130713.tar.md5
I found it on this site: http://www.ulozto.cz/xHADj5PD/samsung-7z
If its dead you can pm me and I can send it.
After I flashed this the phone would just go in a bootloop.
Don't be afraid this is normal.
Now install the vanir rom in the cmw recover mode.
After this it should work fine.
Add a microsd card with 2 partitions and install mount2sd and you have a fully working phone with(almost) unlimited space.
I'm using if for an year now and it works great.
Better then most €500 phones which break after 1 fall .
