NPNS Or NPN? What are the differences of being versions of the Firmware? I currently have an XT1687 US Version With the NPNS version (I installed it) but I do not know if something changes in those firmware versions

In general, all Moto's are like this:
XXX - Original factory flash or initial release
XXXS - OTA Update
The firmware itself is identical.

I know this thread is a bit dated but I just searched and found it, as I was curious what the difference in the file names where. Mine is a g5s plus, but it would still pertain to my curiosity. The file I'm looking at are nps and npss.
Thankyou for your simplistic and straight forward answer acejavelin. It clears things up good.
I didn't want to download an india version of the rom, so this helped me a lot, ty ty!
Please clarify. B13 or B16 which is latest one?

You're still not telling another thing. Are you referring to MiFavor 5.2 B13 and MiFavor 4 (or 4.2) B16? In that case the newest is B13 since it has been released after B16. Just like Marshmallow and Nougat, on the G they went from B1 all the way to B11, then N came out and they started from B1 again. They did the same with mifavor5.2 even if it was the same android version

Is Mi_Favor 5.2 a new update ? 'Cause I'm on B13(Mi-Favor 5.0) and it says I'm on the latest version.

I see. I thought numbering is irrespective of Android Version. I am on Noughat n A2017. So you are saying B16 is latest. Actually why I am asking is, I heard that Numbering is decreasing for one model and increasing for another as updates are coming on.

No, you got it wrong. MiFavor 5.2 is the latest, aka B13.
Numbering doesn't decrease for any model
as above, I know it did something as EMUI upgraded to 5.0.1 and security went to 1 Sept why why da hell did the version number not change?
Thanks to the gurus for any insight
How about I go for a 'update' to VNS-L31C440B390? Originally the phone was EE UK so should that work?
Cheers!
You updated Your phone to wrong version - if previously You was on B381 then You should update to B391.

I thank you Sir!
Now running on version B397
EDIT: For the A2017U USA model Axon 7, the TWRP flashable B35 modem file is available here || A2017G and A2017 follow the link at my last post in this thread to the Aroma ROM thread containing those modem files.
I have Baseband Version .2.0.c1.9-00090-M8996FAAAANAZM-1 which I believe is B15
I have seen reference to a baseband version 2.0.c1.9-00104-M8996FAAAANAZM in this thread and I would like to update the baseband to this version, which I believe is B35
I've not had much luck finding a flashable modem for the USA version A2017U. I have been on LineageOS since the beginning, so I didn't get an OTA update of these files. Could someone please help me?

you can just download the b35 update.zip and get the modem file from inside (which I believe is the NON-HLOS.bin)
I must have misunderstood things. I had read about those files but I thought these were for the Chinese version of the Axon 7. The Chinese version takes the "TH" prefix at the beginning of the baseband version, right? So I need the version not prefixed by "TH"?

I'm wondering why you are meddling with the baseband codes. Just forget about them and use U modems. Simple as that...
Think about this: The updates for all 3 models come with their own modem files. if you open an U update and get the modem from inside, do you really think it will be a G modem??

That certainly makes sense, but after reading many reports of battery drain, signal loss, and other issues related to flashing modems on the Axon 7, I decided to ask for some help. Lots of these people who have had these issues are probably smarter and more experienced than I. I have bricked phones from making assumptions before.
For anyone who finds this in the future, A flashable a2017u B35 can be downloaded here. I installed it on my USA version Axon 7 and it updated the modem to baseband version TH.2.0.c1.9-00104-M8996FAAAANAZM I'll update the first post with this link.
I found this file in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3744388

THank You for your topic. I was throughly confused about the modem issues when I got a replacement axon 7 and wanted to simply copy my install of RR 6 over. I had no luck doing that because of the damn modem files. Since this version if the one I have on my old axon 7, this should make the rom boot now. I hope. I'm still a bit confused about the universal bootloaders Ive found, they seem to be for a certain modem version. SO which bootloader do you use with B35? What the hell is a bootstack adapter? That adds to the confusion, all the damn alternative terms used for the same thing.
