Lg stylo 3 m430 cricket - LG Stylo 3 Questions & Answers

Isnt any threads on this device.
Figured Id start one.
At first glances. No root. Oem u lock is in dev options. No fastboot does have dl mode. I doubt root will come anytime soon.
I do really like this device. I have averaged 6 to 8 hours of sot time
Been attempting to pull a stock image for restores with lgup and flashtool

So everyone knows the cricket version is downgraded. Only has a 1.4 ghrtz quadcore i stead of the. Octacore. And only 2 gb of ram verus the 3 i see everywhere else.
Camera reminds me of the g2s
Kingo kingroot and all the one clicks dont work. Next will be zeroing the laf to see if i get fastboot. The no root debloater app doesnt work on this device either. So finding root is a must.

Im assuming as owning many lg phones the bootloader is not locked but signed so without the signing key and a modified laf partition to enable fastboot with accepted unlock commands or an engineering bootloader
Unlock will be highly inprobable for some time. Or unless a exploit such as bump or loki or something very similar

Just got this phone 2 days ago and it's pretty snappy and I am quite pleased with it honestly. The fingerprint scanner was the selling point... And price lol. With root this device would be no doubt a beast.

thats funny my finger print scanner has yet to reconize my finger i registered both my pointer fingers twice and still nothing.im a mechanic so my prints are pretty trashed but i tried for like 4 or 5 hours and just switched it back.
all im waiting for is a stock firmware as of rite now no atni roll back is implented or 0. so first firmwares usually is first rooted or moded takes a load of messing with laf and recovery partitions

My fps works great, I'm sorry you're not sharing the same experience there was an update yesterday morning, it took a while to install but I'm still at 7.0 so it couldn't have been anything too major

I very much enjoy it, and this phone. It's funny, when I tried kingroot I think it was it read my phone as a G6 I wonder if there is a rooting method for the LG G6 we could try?

ive been all over it trying and trying ive started looking into other lg methods with locked bootloaders and nougat
the v20 just got nougat to so hopefully between the g6 and v20 root methods that may come to be we can adapt one to us
sucks the old root injection throws secure bot cause nougatchecks system to see if modified its gonna be mnore of a systemless root from what i see and know

The v20 uses the dirty santa exploit to obtain root.
The LG G6 doesn't have root yet.
If the bootloader is signed, Safestrap is how we got around it on AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 n900a. Still have to have root first tho.
It looks like boost, cricket, T-Mobile, Straight Talk all have the LG Stylo 3 so far. So alot of people will own these because their cheap.
I'd like to get one myself but without root and ROMs no thanks.

Help
Has anyone found a solution to the root of a lg m430 yet???

Off thread device;
Anyone currently looking into the Stylo 3 straight talk bootloader unlock? (Does it just come down to lg bridge recognizing the device?)

I did not. I gave the device up pretty quickly

Please excuse me if this is a silly question. What would running "fastboot oem unlock" do, if anything, to this model? Apparently, unlocking the bootloader on the LG Stylo 3 Plus is this simple (assuming OEM unlock is turned on in dev options, of course). I realize the non-plus model is different, and Cricket's LG-M430 even more so, but has anyone tried running this command and can confirm it doesn't work? I wonder why LG would freely allow the Plus to be unlocked, but not this model...Perhaps Cricket had some say in this?
Also, (another noob question) am I correct in thinking that rooting without first unlocking the bootloader will NOT trigger some unwanted mechanism of the bootloader? From what I've read, a locked bootloader only verifies the integrity of the kernel and recovery, and will not check for "illegal" root access. Are there any built in mechanics that check for root? I ask out of curiosity, as I am aware there are currently no root exploits for this phone. It seems like you all agree unlocking the bootloader is the most logical first step. Is there any benefit to figuring this out first over trying to simply root the device? Thanks in advance. I'm very interested in understanding all this, and am hopeful that I'll be able to somehow contribute in getting this model rooted.

The way that they locked the bootloader prevents you from getting anywhere close to fastboot. LG has this locked down severely.

Root for SM-t377a (ATT Galaxy Tab-E)

Is there a way to root the galaxy tab E that comes from AT&T? I've found a TWRP image for the SM-T377P version but nothing for SM-T377A which is what I have. I was thinking they might be cross compatible but if they were, I'm sure TWRP would have listed it on their site.
The option to OEM unlock is in the dev settings list so I'm thinking I can flash the recovery but I'm not sure on that.

Kingroot can't root my Galaxy Tab SM-T377A runnning 6..0.1 Marsmallow, I just want to uninstall or freeze those AT&T bloatware but I guess I have to wait coz I can't return it anymore...Thanks ..
Worst tablet ever. Att can't even get their software updates right. I can't use this as a phone because the stupid number sync software keep giving an error and no one at att knows how to fix it. I've tried different dialers and freezing them. Nothing works. Now I have com.android.phone is not responding and their is no firmware download anywhere to fix it. Now I have to factory reset the whole damn tablet lol. I'm going to sell the and get a Sprint unlocked version. What a shame. This tablet had potential too

You can Google "replace Kingroot with supersu". There is a 4 step method for replacing the temp Kingroot with chainfires SuperSu. Even if bootloader is locked. Just found one of these in Facebook marketplace for $50.

I think this tablet sucks, too. AT&T hoodwinked me into getting this thing, and now I'm stuck with it for 2 years. It's slow and choppy--I'd rather have an iPad. My "Next" contract is just about up, and I can't wait to dump their ass for another carrier.
Agree. Hoodwink is exactly what they did. This tablet is SLOW and the bloatware is chewing up RAM. I'm about to dump it for something else. Was hoping to be able to root it so I could kill off some of the bloat, but no joy....
-Z
I knew I should have checked here first... but at least I can return it... I figured a device of its age would for sure have custom roms and root. Stupid at&t! Guess I'm back on the search for a LTE tablet that works on at&t for under $300
Hi, recently I bought a cheap AT&T Tab E. It has only 4GB internal storage instead of 16, weird? The tab is almost useless because it has almost no space for new files/apps. Anyone knows what's wrong with the tab? Thanks

Totally new to rooting in general, and researching isn't going well as I don't have any context/experience yet...and the vocabulary is new. I have (literally just bought a few days ago) this version of the Tab E...and I'm trying to root it so I can use it more effectively as a head unit in my 03 F150. I'm finding out I bought the wrong unit to do this reasonably easily.
Would you mind posting a quick walkthrough of how this works? Install KingRoot and then replace it with Supersu to get the tablet permarooted?
Thanks!

Not a big fan of youtube instructional videos, first one available, not sure if its good........
https://www.google.com/search?q=rep...0j7&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=1
This is a guide with a one-click .bat file to supposedly do this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/a310/general/how-to-remove-replace-kingroot-kinguser-t3308989
Directions for manual replacement:
https://missingtricks.net/replace-kingroot-kinguser-with-supersu-superuser-android-guide/
Remember, this is for you replacing "TEMP ROOT", not when a device is permanently rooted! This means being in the position of Kingroot barely getting temporary root that will be lost when device is rebooted!!! It involves using Flashify (by Chainfire as well) and authorizing it's root ability to flash.
As in every OP on XDA, do so at "YOUR OWN RISK".........

Unless you have an unlocked bootloader there is nothing you can do about it unfortunately.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime (SM-J727T1) Metro PCS Variant

Hello everyone, this is my first post so please take it easy on me. I have read a lot of threads regarding this phone but haven't seen or heard much about this specific device. From what I read was our BOOTLOADER is locked by the manufacturer & so far that's the major issue? Anyways, id love to see this phone get rooted and enjoy the perks of root.
Model Number: SM-J727T1
ANDROID VERSION: 7.0
BUILD NUMBER: NRD90M.J727T1UVU1AQG1
I can't find any root method what so ever.
Is anyone working on it?
Wondering if there is a similar method like the root on my j3 (cricket) granted that was a touchy root but worked aside from flashlight button not working and changing setting in build.prop to save wifi pass.
Love to see this j727t1 (metropcs) rooted and hopefully a twrp.
Dig in. It's going to be a long wait...
So I can tell. We aren't getting anywhere but I don't know what or where to start working on something. I'd like to develop or study how rooting works or just how to be able to be active in this community. If anyone has pointers please let me know.
Adb might work
I read something about using adb to unlock the bootloader. Only ever used adb once to root LG Stylo 2 it did work but there's a few steps and I don't have access to a computer long enough to find out if that would work on this phone. What about looking at other Android devices that have locked bootloader and see how they got past it.
There's no root for this device. Also, I doubt we will ever see root for this device. It has very small user base. I got mine for free with a free Amazon 1 year activation key, so no complaints.
When turning it on in cold weather, the task switch menu pops up and stays there for couple seconds, which is kind of annoying. Only happens when left in a cold environment. I was looking for root to disable soft-keys and enable on-screen menu key, but no luck.
Completely blown away by how they seem to neuter this j7prime phone which is suppose to be the successor? Hope to see root but it also doesn't seem likely as well.
Anyone know what case works on this phone? seems the ebay listing for j7prime doesn't exactly fit this phone; not surprising anymore since a brand name seems to be different across providers and regions!? Gonna have to buy a non carrier phone from now on.
Umm cases are sometimes difficult to come by but I know they sell cases at the mall near my house at some kiosk, also at Metro PCS, but I bought my case at Wal-Mart maybe about 2 months ago. It was actually an otter box and fits like a glove. This phones decent, sometimes can lag but otherwise I gave up on root hopes.
Only thing that could work
Ok how to do it, but some one could download the firmware from sammobile or what ever. Open the files and find out what codes to put where to have rooted firmware zip back up and upload to the internet that could be the only way around not having oem unlocked. I have downloaded firmware like this for other devices but Idk how to do the to do that exactly.
I made a thread about this already, I searched but might not have used all of the correct criteria to come to this thread at that time but this is what I found.

It's pointless, whoever posted that obviously doesn't own the device and hasn't got a clue.
All it's likely in succeeding to do do is soft brick the device if it even flashes at all which is unlikely.
I see unlocked US version has OEM unlock option after 14 days of first activation. There may be a hope to root with Magisk as long as getting correct ROM and boot.img from there.

Nope not gonna happen. Bootloader is locked.
So i subscribed to this thread just to see if people really like this phone. After going to Metropcs and seeing what the latest phones. Turns out that i can't find a good reason to upgrade from the J700. No super Amoled, no front flash, still the same screen size and after playing with it. It just feels like a downgrade, i don't know. The only good thing about it is that it is black and has 32gb of storage which i thought it was going to be different from the 16GB version. Nope, same hardware with 32gb. I suppose the cpu is faster than the J700, but by how much faster?
Sent from my SM-J700T1 using Tapatalk
Picked up a J727t1 as a backup phone for my note 8. So far it seems fairly decent. I only want root so I can get rid of the MetroPCS splash screen and some built in apps. Aside from that, it runs surprisingly smooth. It's odd that there's no fingerprint reader though.
I'll just have to keep my eye out in this thread. Hopefully someone finds a way to root
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
You can debloate, just downgrade to aqg1 and use a root package disabler cause they don't work on current firmware from my tests cause Knox kicks it for me. With it debloated, it eats on average 20% ram idle. You do lose restore from Samsung's side doing it which is a bummer.
Also, I use substratum and Google apps to get a black theme all around (swift black) with Nova launcher and 523 dpi. Sure paid apps, but worth it looking like stock Android.
No root, but there are work arounds if you only Google how to's and what not's
So you're telling me the j727t1 can be downgraded and rooted ( you mention the root package disabler )?
I was just researching to see if there's any unbranded firmware we could flash but I've seen where some have tried in other j7 models and lost 16 of their 32gb storage ( likely wrong pit file? ).
Id even be ok with stock TMobile firmware flashed but it seems all theirs are 16gb models too ( j727t vs j727t1 ). Didn't want to try using Comsey Odin with the TMobile package until I see something more definitive as to whether it works or not.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Sorry, just a package disabler. Just so use to calling them "root" blah blah. Downgrading does work, I'm just not to sure how far back you can go. Plus all our firmware is 7.0. I'll download the first fw sammobile has to give a few root methods a try if it flashes
Yeah I've heard about flashing other carrier firmwares do work, just haven't tried myself as the 16-32 gb mess is in my way.
I know what I did was a pain, but I feel it's worth it. I only miss root for flashing roms when I needed breaks from the same old
where's the link to root SM-J727T1? This phone does not have oem unlock option so bootloader is locked. Unless an oreo update changes that; I wouldn't mess with it.
I am watching this thread even though i do not own this phone. The fact that there is no oem unlock on this phone makes me wonder if this is how it is going to be on future phones. I was reading regarding about anti-theft security on phones. By not having the option to toggle to oem unlock makes the phone more secure by forcing frp to be enabled once you link your google account to your phone. But this still does not explain why international phones do have this option available though.
In a nutshell, no oem unlock=no root or anything custom. If this is where Samsung is taking things from here on out. It is going to be a long time before anyone can figure out how to force unlock. Otherwise, no more root on Samsung devices.

Trying to root an Lg Stylo 3 Boost (NOT LG stylo 3 plus)

Hey guys/girls,
I'm gh0st.
I am an amateur/beginner Python 3.x programmer so although I'm not extremely knowledgeable, I can follow along with any kind of instructions you would be gracious enough to share.
My native OS on my main machine if I need to utilize that to manually unlock the bootloader or something like that is: Linux Ubuntu 16.04 (LTS version.)
I'm not sure if that matters but anyway... I am just wondering if anyone has had any success rooting this particular phone or simply rooting LG devices in general? LGE G Stylo 3 aka Model LS-777. The LG Stylo 3 plus from boost has been rooted successful day. However, I can't seem to find a way to unlock the bootloader.
If you could please help me root my LG Stylo 3 I bought from boost, I will pay you no problem if that's what it takes. I will absolutely pay you for your work if you can pull it off. I did buy it as a "Boost" phone so if I'm stuck with Boost, I'm 110% okay with that.
If you can assist me in gaining root access to this LGE LS-777, and Flash some custom roms and stuff like that to it I would be so appreciative. Like I said I'll pay you for your efforts.
Thank you for your help in advance.

I haven't heard anything on it. For some reason LG locked down the bootloader. Without access to fastboot there really isn't any way to get it unlocked if I understand it right. I remember trolling around the f few threads there are, and it seemed like no one was trying anymore.

I would think if you search around and find the right info you could modify the bit image somehow. I know when I got the S7 edge right when it came out there was an engineer kernel out and that was the only way. Now chain fire had an auto root for it. I hope you find it. I'm sure the person that does will appreciated by many that's for sure.
Or if it's on your budget I heard that metro PC's is giving the 3 plus as a promo if you Port your existing number over to them. Just have to buy three months of unlimited service and it is 40 a month I believe. After 90b days they will unlock it for any carrier. Not a bad deal

I wouldnt know about king root, but one click root said it was rootable. i just dont have the 40 dollars they wanted to do it
One-click methods do not have the capabilities to root the Stylo 3. Systemless root is the only viable option and requires a modification of the bootchain (/aboot), and then pushing a patched boot image by use of the engineer version of LG-UP. Custom recovery doesn't seem to be an option at this time.
I wouldn't know. I hate how locked the boot loader is though. I'm trying to find a way into it. Currently, you get into factory reset mode by holding either power up or down (I don't remember currently) but you can get into an IMEI/Serial display mode by holding both volume up and down on bootup. I wonder if there are any secrets to be found there?
Bootloader blocked.
I know either cricket or LG blocked bootloader access. But you can get Dev options by tapping the Build Number. Setting>General>About Phone>Software info.
Also idk if this will help, but Nugent does the most peculiar thing when you tap on "Android version" within the same menu. Take a look. I'm not sure if this is like a "Ha,Ha!" From the devs but it definitely had me scratching my dome.

LG-UP is basically a firmware flashing utility which is actually used in LG certified stores and service centers. Very similar to Odin for Samsung devices. Yes the utility installs to a PC or laptop and flashes the firmware to your LG device via a tethered connection (and your device being in Download Mode).

I've got a tough one for any of you!!!! Snapdragon S8. Easy right?

I have two galaxy S8's. One is sprint, one is Verizon. Both are legal. I have read and been fed so much crap , I am told there isnt a way to root g950usqs3CRE2.. I have two that started with different build numbers and have ended up the same . Last patch, May 1st, OUCH!! Oneclickroot says that I cant get root because of lvl 3bootloader, other xda guys saying you dont need an unlocked bootloader. Anybody want to help? Im doubting peoples abilities a little bit with what I'm reading. Hope not. I got one of these rooted and unbricked already. Lets see who really knows. I will follow you graciously. Lmk. Please!!! Jeff
Here's a definitive answer: We don't have root for bootloader rev. 3, so just sit tight for the next few weeks or months.
Also, the only way for us to get root is through engineering files, because the bootloader is rock solid. So we've been getting root without an unlocked bootloader. Pretty impressive, right?

Hopes never lost. We all I'm sure have done some testing. Just every which way been patched on ours. And we can't figure out what's different with the +model.
