Hi. Bought yesterday in the UK. Love it.
I was poking around in the secret code menu via Engineer Mode Test Tool. In the menu there is an option to change the radio band, the only choice though is United States. Figuring I could change it back to Europe at some point, I hit ok. Now my phone doesn’t register with any network and there is no option to change the radio band back to Europe.
Have I bricked it? Or do you think it did nothing and there’s another reason?
Wifi still works fine, and I can do a manual scan of the networks and they show - I just cannot connect. This tells me that the unit is seeing the networks just fine and the radio band hasn’t changed, and that for some reason I’ve been locked out?
I tried another sim - same problem.
And of course I have tried turning off and on, factory reset too.
Currently in Dublin, phone was roaming just fine beforehand.
Any ideas?
[UPDATE] I re-flashed the firmware and it's fine now.

Dear All,
I've bought a RAZR M in the states a few weeks ago and was using it with net10 after unlocking the device for other carriers than VZW. I found the instructions on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542) and it worked like a charm.
Two days ago I went back home to Germany and in joyful anticipation i popped my german O2 sim into the phone. To my surprise the phone did not connect to the O2 network. Since I've read about Germanese experience with O2 in Germany (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017987) I was positive it'll work. However, when I set the network mode to "GSM/UMTS" and try to select a network manually, the list of available networks is empty (see screenshot).
@Germanese: Am I missing something?
I continued fiddling with the parameters available in the hidden radio menu (dialing *#*#4636#*#*), tried all options on the "preferred network type" parameter and changed the radio band from "USA band" to "Cellular". Still no connection.
Then I've proceeded with unlocking the bootloader and installing CM 10.1 to check if I get a few more options. Surprisingly in CM 10.1 I wasn't even able to choose a network provider manually, the option simply doesn't exist. In the hidden radio menu (which can be accessed in the same way as in the stock system) on the other hand the list of radio bands looked slightly different: I was offered to choose between US band, Japan band and two other options (can't exactly remember what it was and already reverted back to stock), while for all of them the actual frequencies were displayed. It caught my attention right away that there wasn't an option for a 2100Mhz band (which is the frequency all German carriers use). Needless to say I didn't get it working on CM 10.1 either.
Anyone can point me in the right direction?! Maybe flashing the AU radio from xt905 firmware? Although Germanese pointed out it works just fine with stock ROM?
Any help is super appreciated!!!
All the best!
Henry
Dear Henry,
My Girl is actively using Razr M (Verizon Model) In Germany Munich.
The stock Rom works but has very Poor signal as you see yourself.
We got her working nicely with the Australian Radio.
The other way was to modify some codes with the RadioCom But not advisable if this is your first run.
So yes the best thing to do is to do the AU Radio Flash Mod.
Hope this helps...
Thanks for the fast reply! Do you have a link to the RadioComm Mods you're talking about? I've used RadioComm for the "00" NV tweak to get the phone working with net10 in the US - so I have a little experience
Wooohoooo!
AU radio is working! What a hike
Can't say anything about data for now as I don't have a data plan activated yet. However, signal strength is good and call quality is absolutely fine.
Cheers
Henry
data working, but only egde/gsm
Dear All,
Got myself a data plan with O2 two weeks ago and it works on EDGE/GSM. However, I can't use UMTS/CDMA network.
@Germanese: How did you configure your girlfriends phone to make 3G work?
The NV value @8322 is still 00 - the factory reset I performed after changing it didn't have any impact on this setting. I've tried to change the preferred network type in the *#*#4636#*#* menu without any success. The radio band selection holds only one option: GSM/UMTS band.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Cheers

Hello dear XDA Community,
I have an american Nexus 6P (used with Verizon) which is currently used with a Russian cell carrier "MegaFon"
I had troubles with connecting to their LTE, for some reason my phone just wouldn't connect to the LTE and only stick to HSPA or HSPA+ even though an iPhone near me gets LTE signal just fine, the SIM card is fine in the other phone as well. So I started messing with my phone to find if I could fix it, first I started with going back to full stock, that didn't help, the phone still only accepted HSPA signal. Then I tried multiple ROMs and Stock Images but the issue of not connecting to LTE persisted. Then I found out about *#*#4636#*#* menu (aka Phone Info menu) and I started messing with it, which again did not do any good until I hit the menu button and pressed Select Radio Band (P.S. please don't mess with those settings) where I tried selecting all 3 different "GSM/UMTS" Bands. I tried USA band, Band mode 6 and Band mode 7, but this just broke down my signal completely, I cannot connect back to the carrier network no matter what I did. I've tried factory resetting, flashing radio img's, flashing stock/custom. NOTHING HAD HELPED/WORKED
I'm now stuck with a phone that doesn't work at all, and I'm on business trip so I'm just pulling out my hair for messing with those settings in the first place.
Does anybody know a possible fix to this? How could I go back to what I had before even though I tried all kinds of forms of factory resetting the phone
I really beg for your guys' help
Thank You
EDIT: Found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/recovering-usa-band-to-auto-mode-4636-t3271347 gonna try that right now
EDIT2: That modified ROM helped! But I still don't get 4G
Have you tried removing the SIM card, rebooting the phone, then going into the Phone info menu and setting the preferred network type to LTE/GSM auto (PRL)? Maybe afterr another reboot with the SIM inserted the phone will connect.
Also check the APN settings -- they might have changed.

I think I've tried it, I'll give it another try after seeing if flashing this one ROM where you can select Auto Band in 4636 menu that I linked in the edit would work.
APN settings were fine.
Thanks
EDIT: That ROM helped! But I still don't get 4G
Looks like the post you linked should do the trick. Good luck!
code in Huawei *#*#4636#*#*
I have the same problem. My Huawei is Portuguese and the sms work and the internet to but no signal radio. Wen I dial a number tells me no radio found. Can somebody help me? Thanks
Good day
I am currently in Venezuela and I just received a Moto X pure literally just get it out of the box. When I plug the SIM on the device recognized it I could receive SMS and Calls but no data, no 3G no H+, no 4g. I double checked the APN and nothing. So I look some Info and found this app from the store called "Network" which i think its just a shortcut to the *#*#numbers#*#* anyway below there was an option "lte/gsm/cdma auto (prl)" i change this to other options to try to force LTE but nothing worked. So going desperated press the three dots menu on top and click "select radio band" and by mistake selected USA Band. Inmediatly lost signal and now the decvice doesnt recognize the sim card anymore. I tried to go back to this menu (select radio band) but the only options i see are "USA Band Cellular and PCS" none of this working for me. I ll really appreciate any help you could bring me cause i dont have a phone to replace this one. I also ask the moderator to move this post if this is not the right place for it, I ve been seaching for help but there is just too much information concerning radios, modem, and bands that i can really understand.
My carrier here is Digitel working with this bands
LTE 1800
3G 900
Hopefully you unlocked the bootloader and made a backup before messing with such things. If not, factory reset is probably your best bet.
thanks for the reply
I just did a factory reset and still the same... could flashing a stock rom help with this?
Likely reflashing the firmware will put it back to where you originally had it. If it asks you for a password for anything, it should be all 0's (00000).
Hi there,
I have encountered a strange problem. I was fiddling with the preferred network services in the *#*#4636#*#* menu. Now, no matter what setting i use, i can't do any outgoing phone calls anymore, neither can i be called by anyone. I tried to set the menu back to the original setting which didnt help.
Restarting the phone, resetting the sim-settings nothing has worked so far. Does anyone have a clue what I should try to be get my telephony service back?
I am on E-Plus / LTE in Germany.
Thanks a lot!
Try to insert the sim-card into the the second slot.

Have you tried downloading the ZTE A2017G software and installing it? Not too sure about the European model but that has saved my butt with the North American model more than a few times
The phone is stuck in "LTE only" mode. It doesn't connect to 3G or 2G networks anymore. And since my provider does not support VoLTE, there is no telephony service for me. I just found that out in a place where there is no 4G connectivity. The question is - how do I get my phone to connect with 3G and 2G networks again? I tried all preferred network settings in the service menu as well as all settings in the sim-card settings. I formatted the cache. No change. I will try your suggestions and see if that helps. I still find it weird, that I am able to set my phone to 4G only but I am unable to set it back to normal. Btw. the phone is stock and unrooted.
Thanks so far!

I re-installed the A2017G Nougat Update, but that didn't change anything. So I downgraded to B10 (6.0.1). The integrated backup process went bad, so I ended in recovery doing a factory reset. From there things started to get better again, the phone finally connected to 3G and 2G networks! So I updated to Nougat and right now I am setting up my phone again, hey but it works!
I want to warn A2017G users to mess around with the info menu *#*#4636#*#*, especially dont touch the "frequency selection" menu. It gave me two choices "United states" and "800 cellular", both seemed to be wrong for me living in Germany, but I had to choose between the two. I suppose that got me into the trouble in the first place. Stay away from that menu. I learned that the hard way.

Hi,
I am new to this forum so welcome everyone!
I am struggling a little with my A5 from 2015. The problem is that I was not using it for two years and now pulled out from the box. All works like a charm except 3G/LTE. What I did so far:
Installed latest ROM from updato
Checked SIM card in other phone - LTE worked fine
Checked another working SIM in A5 - again no LTE
Restored factory defaults 3 times
Funny thing that I have once seen 3G connection - well at least the icon for few seconds. Also when I bought it in 2016 it was loosing network when I was in a tunnel or underground parking - so I sent it to Samsung at that time and they said all is working as expected.. i then switched to other phone.
Looks pretty much as a hardware issue to me but before I will take it to service I thought someone could have some ideas.
Also if this is hardware shall I replace the modem or antenna or both?
Thanks, Simon
If it's just the 4G/3G icon, set up an APN.
If band locking or selection is applied, set it back to the defaults.
Run a manual network search, and check the status in *#0011#. If it looks normal, it's probably not hardware.
Hi @Bryan48765, APN is fine as I tested the SIM card with same APN on other phone and all is fine - LTE/3G is there. Neither band locking nor selection is applied. I did a search for network providers and it works correctly but still no 4G/3G.
I will check the network status using a code in few hours when I have access to the phone.
