Hi,
My galaxy S4 decided to poop itself yesterday. I was browsing my emails and the phone restarted by itself. . but then it kept restarting over and over again (Boot loop). The phone felt hot, so i took the battery out and left the phone for a while.
Once i put the battery back in, the phone kept boot looping. I managed to get it into safe mode and make sure all my photos were safe – I've just returned from a holiday in Hawaii, so this was very important to me.
After i was able to make sure photos were backed up on the computer, i cleared the cache partition and even did a hard reset. The phone kept boot looping. My phone now gets stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT I9505" start up page. I read about issues with the power button, so even atempted to open the phone up and wiggle the power button around a bit by squeezing it with some tweezers. This made no difference. I've even swapped batteries and tried charging it.. this also doesn't work. Currently my phone has the "Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505".
I have been on whirlpool forums and it was suggested that i reinstall the firmware through odin.. i did, but with great difficulty and many attempts. My phone was able to boot up and i was able to send one message and make one phone call before it went into bootloop again or just switches off and doesn't want to be switched back on again. When the phone was on, no sound was apparent when a phone call/text message came through for testing. I've retried dowloading the software on odin, but when i try to switch my phone on it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
I've also tried putting the phone on the charger and no sound or green battery coloured animation comes up on the screen now.
Please somebody help
It was the latest stock firmware from sammobile.com that was flashed to the phone? Was the phone factory reset from stock recovery before booting the phone after fllashing with Odin?
As far as I know it was the latest unbranded firmware from sammobile.com.
A factory reset was one of the first things I did after starting the phone up in safe mode and trying to recover files.
The phone has never previously been tampered with. I've only ever upgraded the software through WiFi or Samsung kies. Using Odin was a learning experience for me.
Maybe the factory reset needs to be done from the recovery screen rather than from the ROM settings?
The factory reset was originally performed from the recovery screen. I can no longer get into recovery mode though. It only seems the phone wants to get into download mode
Have you tried flashing a ROM designed for a particular carrier in your country?
This is going to sound silly.. But I thought that's what I was doing when I went through Odin and got the firmware from sammobile.com
Which version of Odin and firmware was flashed?
What errors occurred during the flash process according to the Odin log?
Tried flashing with a pit file?
Hi guys, i have a problem. im trying to revive a phone that has crashed, in the begining it just crashed and wouldnt boot other than into download mode.
So i flashed it with the latest firmware, and it did boot up after that. all the way to the part where it was asking for the old google account.
So i put it in my pocket and drove to work caus its my collegues phone so he could log in, but when i took up the phone it had gone into download mode again.
So i took it home and tried to re-flash it, but now it takes ages for odin to start the flashing part. and it gets to the set pit file part and then it fails with "re partition operation failed". ive tried many different firmware and odin versions but no luck.
does anyone have some ideas?
Hello everyone, this has been a major problem for many so i hope to gather all the developers to find a common solution to when the phone wont turn on or go to recovery or download mode. I am having this issue and odin doesnt help. Ive even erased and repartitioned my entire nand and am still faced with this issue. If anyone can help us all please respond. I have PIT files for odin if anyone would like them. Lets solve this very common problem together.
This next part is what Ive done in case anyone wants to help me specifically
I have the s7 edge tmobile snapdragon variant, So i got the BSOD on my device and was led to factory resetting it from the recovery menu. Later it seemed to not to boot into the recovery menu unless placed in very cold temperatures . I re flashed the os in odin and it almost booted up and my computer recognized it then it went back into a bootloop again. I erased my nand and re partitioned it with a pit file, this didnt work either. Now im left with a brick seemingly caused by samsung itself.
Hi i recently got a g7105 from my friend which was stucked at Firmware flashing issue. It was not detected by samsung kies so i downloaded odin flashable file and flashed through odin. But mistakenly i placed that single .tar file in BL section instead AP.
But flashing was a success and phone boot and worked few hours W/O any issue. Aftet few hours when i checked phone it showed samsung stating screen with small blue text on top of the screen saying " "Recovery booting...." Then i pulled out batyery and tried to power on but i didint proceed beyond that screen. When i try to boot into reciveey same blue text appears. Download mode works normally and i tried flashing fileagain but putting in right section but no any luck.
Can anyone pls help to identify what has gone wrong and a way to make this phone work again
Hello community,
A good friend of mine asked me to support him with his "bricked" Note 4.
I tried now for a few hours (usually im experienced with stuff like that) without any success.
Downloadmode is accessable. Odin (3.09) says most of time 'pass'.
I flashed the following stock roms:
N910FXXU1DRI2_N910FOXA1DRI1_DBT_(Germany) [We are from germany] 1 File.
Odin tells me: pass, Phone reboots in recovery mode, installs a system update, processbar filled half, "earasing", reboot into recovery and display stuck on black after retry to install a system update.
I already tried to debrick - after reflash the PIT file, the Note4 stuck in the Note4 Splashscreen with a blue LED blinking but nothing more happens. [Debrick XDA Thread] (should it?)
I tried also the N910FXXU1ANK4_DBT_4Files Firmware but same behavior (black screen after system update - the phone must turned on since the power button doesnt react - I need to pull of the battery for reboot).
Any hint for me what Im doing wrong? This devices drives me crazy ...
Is the device hardware broken maybe? What do you guys think?
Thank you for reading
Best regards

Have you tried to install a custom recovery instead first?
