Hello. I wanted to return to stock ROM of Chinese x720 model. Saw few guides about x727, but it uses TWRP recovery files that I don't have. Also, there is a US ROM installation that I do not want. Saw image of stock x720 recovery here;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...s-released-t3588370/post71892261#post71892261
Also stock ROM is avaiable on megatrend reuploads or bbs (not working for me). I have TWRP 3.1.1 and AICP ROM. Last time that I tried to return to stock I had stock recovery, bootloader and no OS. Dumby method;
go to TWRP -> do standard wipe -> install stock ROM -> install image of stock recovery -> wipe cache/dalvik -> reboot phone into system
Will it work? Wipe data won't erase my image and OS if it will be in default /sdcard/ folder? Stock ROM can be installed through TWRP?
Try this.

Hello,
I did have CM13 installed on sm-a500fu and wanted to go back to stock rom. Downloaded right version (TWO-A500FUXXU1BOJ6-20151119145810 - 5.02. )) and flash process was without problem (ODIN) .Then i wanted twrp back and i cant do this no matter which version of twrp i use(twrp2.8.7.0-a5ultexx-19082015.tar,twrp-2.8.7.0-a5ultexx-20082015.tar). Recovery flash goes ok but cannot enter recovery.
Phone is always on Samsung logo
My suggestion is to flash again stock ROM, boot in stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset. Reboot to stock ROM normaly and after that you have to follow the steps to root and install twrp as mentioned in the other thread dedicated to it (I assumed you did that once when you flashed CM13).
In fact that's what I did on my phone...
Flash full stock and once done do a factory reset in stock recovery, do this 3 times, then flash twrp.
From the giver of stock roms
I have reverted back to MIUI 8(8.0.3 malmidg),for some reasons, but I was unable to install the OTA for 8.0.8.0 via twrp.so I mounted the system part read only in twrp and installed mi land recovery available in mi forum...Now when I am installing OTA it shows "Installing MIUI update",but nothing updates.Pls help me to solve this problem..any one here with same problem??pls reply how you recovered..Thanx.
yea for some reason installing OTA's even with fireflash is a issue, id like to install otas on my stock miui v8 weekly with root and unlocked BL
first, you should have 2 things:
1. Stock recovery.img, (taken from fastboot rom)
2. Stock Rom (Stable/ Dev)
How To:
1. Copy it to internal storage
2. Go to TWRP, wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik/art cache.
3. Flash Stock Rom and then reboot.
4. @ home, reboot to recovery again (go to updater app to do this), after on TWRP, flash stock recovery, then reboot again to system.
5. @ home, goes to updater, flash again stock rom with it. (open option, choose choose update package)
6. Well, you should have OTA right now.
It works on mine.

Once you unlock the bootloader, it stays unlocked. I've switched back and forth between MIUI, CM13 and RR but my bootloader was never locked.

Better stay at china dev, it has native root. So if you want to get twrp, root, than flash twrp.img via flashify.
Or, if on global/stable, flash twrp via fastboot
Sent from my Redmi 3X using Tapatalk
Last working state :
1. Android O version WW-15.0410.1803.55
2. Bootloader unofficial unlocked
3. Rooted with magisk
Reason for flashing :
Update to latest Oreo then re-root but flashing failed due to magisk not being uninstalled first
Current state :
1. Able to enter fastboot
2. Twrp is intact
3. Magisk uninstalled using twrp
Actions already taken :
1. Uninstall magisk via TWRP
2. Re-flash WW-15.0410.1803.55 via TWRP
3. Wipe dalvik/cache
4. Factory reset via twrp swipe
Still stuck in bootloop
I'm thinking of flashing Oreo stock recovery prior to reflash Oreo firmware via Asus flash tool. Found Oreo stock recovery image from 15.04.10.1711.6. Is this usable? (Edit : found suitable version and bunch of other versions, big thanks to Iceboy91 on following thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/help/request-stock-recovery-boot-img-stock-t3763381 )
But before I do anything even more stupid, I need your advise on correct next moves, guys.
Flash raw oreo via Asus flash tool and all will be fine.

Will Asus FT run properly on TWRP i/o stock recovery? Last time I did it booted to TWRP and I can't proceed. Kindly confirm if it's possible and I'll give it another try. I am left with another option which is flashing corresponding stock recovery and boot image.
To save your time from trial and error recovering from similar problem, here's what I do.
Issues :
1. Flashing raw on stock with TWRP stuck on eternal 'unzip image'
2. Flashing raw on stock ROM with stock recovery and wipe data OFF was successfull but could not enter system (stuck on Asus logo with circling progress).
Also unable to enter stock recovery at this point.
Steps taken to recover from bootloop :
1. Flash corresponding recovery and boot image to replace TWRP (BE CAREFUL WITH SOFTWARE VERSION)
2. Firstly, flash basic Oreo RAW firmware which can only boot to fastboot found on this post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/how-to/updated-unlock-relock-bootloader-t3749456
3. Flash full RAW Oreo firmware found on the very same post mentioned on #2, but with WIPE DATA SELECTED.
Note : Step 2 might be skippable, up to you to try
Hey ,
If you wanna upgrade to latest Oreo update, just follow these steps (most of the users did not report any kind of bootloop)
1) Flash stock recovery
2) Sideload the latest firmware .zip
3) Reboot and flash TWRP & Magisk
Link for stock recovery/boot images by @shakalaca :
https://mega.nz/#F!lw02CLpA!hpetR2-Sec1F__gHPNRE9Q!E09B3BbA
If anything happens, RAW firmware is there for you
Note: Do not remove/uninstall Magisk via TWRP. Flashing latest update will remove Magisk automatically.
Thanks for the tip, my problem has been solved, but better solution is certainly welcomed. Will do when caught in the same situation.
Here is what I do:
Skip automatic update and do it manually through TWRP.
First flash update then reinstall latest magisk in order within TWRP.
Reboot.

AFT just needs working fastboot.
Flashing raw via aft will restore all stuff to stock state.
Twrp will be replaced by stock recovery too.
I wouldn't recommend flashing stock zip via twrp.
Another way to get back to. Stock is to replace twrp by stock recovery (after wiping data, cache, system). Then flash boot.img and finally use update via SD card option from the newly installed stock recovery.
Also you can take twrp backup of stock rom (system, data, boot) and restore whenever you want to go to stock (after wiping system, data and cache).
All methods tried and tested.
So, I searched the internet for a method to flash a CustomROM on the OnePlus 6T. But somehow none of them worked, so I worked on one myself that at least works for me.
There are 2 methods, use Method A if you don't have a custom ROM installed and still use OxygenOS. Use Method B if you are using a custom ROM and want to have another one:
Method A: From OxygenOS to CustomROM
1. boot in twrp
2. in twrp, do a factory reset
3. flash latest oos zip(flashable ota, link will be below)
4. flash twrp installer zip(i recommend mauronofrio´s twrp, link wil be below)
5. check current slot, then reboot in twrp
6. check if slot changed, then do a factory reset
7. flash latest oos zip
8. flash twrp installer zip
9. reboot recovery, and check if slot changed
10. factory reset
11. flash custom rom zip
12. flash twrp installer zip
13. reboot twrp(check current slot)
14. check if slot changed(if yes:it worked, if no:repeat)
15. additional: flash magisk&gapps
then, your rom is ready to use
Method B: From Custom ROM to another Custom ROM
1. reboot to twrp
2. in twrp, do a factory reset
3. then select advanced wipe: wipe system, cache, data. DON’T WIPE VENDOR
4. flash custom rom zip
5. flash twrp installer zip
6. check which slot you´re in
7. reboot twrp
8. if slot changed, everything worked
9. flash gapps and magisk if you want
then, your rom is ready to use
So, I hope I have spared you many problems and wish you much fun with your Devices.

Some of those steps are unnecessary. Like doing a Factory Reset each time you boot to TWRP as that will mess up your Encryption. And in Method B, you mention to Wipe System. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WIPE SYSTEM ON THE 6T. IT WILL MESS UP YOUR DEVICE. This is the method I use to flash ROMs.
1. Boot to TWRP
2. Flash the latest version of Stable OOS for your Device and latest TWRP Installer for your Device. -> Reboot to Recovery.
3. Flash the latest version of Stable OOS for your Device and latest TWRP Installer for your Device. -> Reboot to Recovery.
4. Flash ROM + TWRP ,Format Data (Go to Wipe, in the lower right corner Format Data, type in 'YES' and hit Enter) -> Reboot to System
5. After first Boot, You can Reboot to Recovery & Flash Magisk (Optional).
These are for EvolutionX that has Gapps built-in so you don't need to flash Gapps. Otherwise you can Skip the Format Data after ROM flash in Step 4, Reboot to Recovery, Flash Gapps and then Format Data. I use these and they have worked flawlessly for me. Also when switching from one AOSP based ROM to another, it's generally recommended to flash OOS Before.

NOTE*- READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU START TAKING ACTIONS. I WON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR DEVICE IS BRICKED. I AM ASSUMING YOU'RE ALREADY ON A CUSTOM ROM AND YOUR WARRANTY IS VOID. AND IT IS STRICTLY FOR TWRP USERS. AFTER FLASHING THE STOCK ROM YOU MAY GO BACK TO ANY RECOVERY YOU WANT.
As it happens I have come across many solution to the problem. Flashing 19s or 21s bootloader, changing IMS settings and other stuff which don't work most of the time. So below I'm giving you the permanent solution to the problem. I won't dive into details assuming you know how to flash recovery image through TWRP or over ADB. REMEMBER THIS IS ONLY FOR TWRP USERS!!!
BUT BEFORE YOU START JUST FLASH THE 21S BOOTLOADER+MODEM TO SEE IF IT SOLVES YOUR PROBLEM. IF NOT THEN...
Here are the steps:
1. Download the stock ROM.
Link: Stock 26s
2. Download Chinese TWRP.
Link: chinese_twrp
3. Download Lazyflasher (Important)
Link: Lazyflasher
4. Download 21s Bootloader+modem.
Link: 21s Bootloader+modem
5. Download any ROM you want to use or you can stick to the one you are using (Just make sure you have the ROM flash file).
6. Now boot into recovery. If you forgot how to then just press the power and volume up button until the recovery flash screen appears. And yes, make sure you have fully charged the phone.
7. Go to install. Select the "IMG" option at the bottom right corner. Flash the chinese_twrp.img to Recovery.
8. Then reboot to recovery from the REBOOT option in TWRP. You are now booted into Chinese TWRP which is only for Stock ROM.
9. Now it will ask for a password sort of thing. Just press the back button. If it doesn't show up then even better.
10. Now flash the stock rom. Wipe cache/dalvik. DON'T REBOOT TO SYSTEM. IT WILL GO INTO BOOTLOOP.
11. Now flash Lazyflasher. Wipe cache/dalvik and reboot to system. Now nostalgia wiil strike. You would see your old EUI up and running.
12. But there is a catch. Check if your wifi is working and if your SIMs are getting identified. If not then reboot to recovery and flash the 21s Bootloader+modem. After that all should work fine.
13. Now you can flash the latest TWRP (THIS STEP IS VITAL BECAUSE CHINESE TWRP IS RECOMMENDED ONLY FOR STOCK ROM) and then flash any custom ROM you want. That's it. Your VoLTE should be working all right now.
