Adapt sound setting? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

My adapt sound setting feature isn't working. Has anyone else tried theirs? Any ideas on how to get it working?

Solved
Found a fix for me on Samsung user forum. Settings apps system apps adapt sound force stop clear cache clear data. Then when using adapt sound I get the hearing test and can use the custom setting.

[Q] N910H Camera Shutter Sound

Hi,
Does anyone know which country N910H ROM has native option to mute camera shutter?
I am hoping to avoid root. While taking pictures of birds and animals I would like to turn of shutter sound. So I would like to flash such official ROM
you can mute it with enforced stream silencer.
Thanks for the reply. I would still like to know about the country with that option available.
you can mute it on all models of the note 4.
To my knowledge, there is no option to mute camera sound in any note 4 version in default. It's only available in custom rom, or custom camera software. Or you can just silent your phone, and the camera will also silent

Do you see his question? He is asking that if note 4 has native option to mute the camera sound or not. He is not asking what application used to mute the camera sound. I believe you that you can mute the camera with enforced stream silencer. But once again, check his question man!
I included screenshot of the option if you still doesn't know what he meant.
i know what he meant. he wanted an option to mute camera sound. enforced stream silencer gives you that option. you can turn sound on. you can turn sound off.
what is so difficult to understand ?

Not true. My stock Verizon Note 4 (SM-N910V) has an option to mute the camera shutter in the settings. It didn't at launch, but a subsequent update added it in. Some carriers in the U.S. had it in the settings for the Note 4 at launch. I didn't have to download any additional or custom software.
It's not included by default on all versions of the Note 4, but it is on some.
My understanding is that in some countries is illegal to take silent pictures (S. Korea? ) and there is no option to turn off sound in camera settings. My tmo version has ot included. I think that easiest way is to just turn off phone sound from notification panel right before taking picture or press and hold power button and mute phone from device options menu. It is not permanent solution but will do the trick.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
EVERY note 4 can silence shutter sound. there are some which do not have the option IN THE CAMERA MENU. in those devices you download and install this application (attached) and click to silence it. in the others you click on the camera menu which does the same thing.
there - how complex is that to understand ?
you do not need root to silence it.
you do not need to go to silent mode.
you do not need to flash a rom.
you do not need to change countries.
all you need is to expose the enforced stream toggle option. which you can do without root by installing the enforced stream silencer app.
While I appreciate everyones response. I would still like to know CSC of 910H variant which has this option available as default. Any 910H variant user who has it, kindly reply.

Serious Simple Audio Improvement (?)

Ok I'm an audiophile musician, as many of you I think
and, though stock audio just works I'm trying to look at audio mods here
I looked in many threads and I can see that ARISE is very well known, supported and loved, but looks like is very customizeable and confusing....
dolby atmos in apps section doesn't work well, it lowers volume and...well, I can't feel any improvement
viper4android should be nice, but I never tried it
now...what are you using? things that work nice and stable, with quality enhancements....don't need thousands of profiles or eq since I'm a big fan of flat sound (the way is meant to be listened)
Thank you for your attention, once we'll have some satisfactory answer I'll make a poll and a general AIO audiophile thread with all working options as referral.
EDIT: ARISE audio system simple guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709
go to this thread, don't be scared, just search for lastest deuteronomy zip and flash it
you will find a nice app called viper4arise that will let you manage settings separately for every audio output with simple and nice UI
you can also import presets and plugins, but it's secondary.
Im going to tune in on this. Would like to install ARISE on my nexus (comes with Viper4Android) but there are so many versions to choose from, it gets a bit confusing.
Any tips on which ARISE works for our phone on 7.1.1 ?
ARISE is the right answer. It's customizable for true audiophiles but simply flashing it seriously improves audio quality without you having to tweak anything. Seriously. I know there are several zips for ARISE. Just make sure you get the most current stable release (Deuteronomy 2.3.3) and I usually go for the smallest zip file because I don't need all of the extra stuff like Dolby Atmos and whatnot. It comes with a modified version of the Viper4Android app that allows you to tweak settings to your liking. The app, by default, is setup for novices or people that don't need to get too specific with any settings so you can boost bass, enable clarity options, spectrum extension, etc. by toggling the switch next to it. Simple as that.

so. you suggest to flash deuteronomy (lastest) and...just that? what about plugins, the prop editor that comes with hell of documentation...profiles and stuff...none of that?
if you're sure it works, is stable enough, simple and it has graphic (not text editing or changing files on system) settings through an app....I'm going to test it right now....

I never did any of that. I just flashed, booted up, went into the ARISE V4A app and toggled the options I wanted. There was an immediate difference in audio quality. You can toggle the options while playing music and hear the difference.
EDIT: Oh. Make sure to disable MusicFX or whatever that nonsense is. Settings > Apps > Show system apps > MusicFX and disable.

ok! so this is a solution. I'm going to try it right now....
for anyone else who pass here, if there is any other thing you are using please reply here! we want options!
EDIT: Ok guys I tried ARISE and it works damn well, I can manage audio settings without profiles since I know how to tune that, but main mportant thing is that it works.
Now, regarding higher bitrate? or anything else?

Really depends on what you're playing the music on. I usually enabled Spectrum Extension (0.4 strength) as a lot of my music is 320kbps MP3 and Bass Boost (default settings) for Bluetooth and Headset (3.5mm jack) while enabling "Speaker Optimization" for the speaker. I mainly use the bluetooth audio in my car and while my car stereo isn't that great but I did throw some Kickers in the front doors. Spectrum Extension is awesome, but make sure to disable it if you're listening to any FLAC files.

I really only listen to music through headphones/AUX in the car so I edited some of those to the audiophiles info in the post. I turned on the spectrum extension and will see how I like it since it's all streamed from spotify (no flac).

Why do you disable MusicFX?
And it's necessary on stock too?

Because it interferes with ARISE / V4A. If you're completely stock with no audio mods there's no point to disabling it.

Hangouts Dialer Call No Audio

I'm having a unique situation where everything is working with the Hangouts Dialer app except no one can hear me. I can hear the person on the other end, but its like I'm on mute. The audio is not choppy, just not transmitting at all. I have tried uninstalling the Dialer app, disabling Hangouts and clearing the cache for both. I receive a notification for incoming calls. Does anyone know a fix?
ROM - Ressurection Remix 7.1.1 RR-N-v5.8.20170303-clark Weekly
Dialer - 01.100944346
Hangouts - 17.0.148298972
Wild guess here, but check the app permissions. Make sure it has microphone access.

I have the same issue, but can get around it immediately by connecting by Bluetooth headset and using that for the call.
********* mic
I'm same like OP, but the difference is that it appears on ANY (even stock) ROM I've tried so far.
However, some roms allow to bypass this issue, by simply turning the speaker mode on.
Sadly, the Resurrection 7.1.1 doesn't (for me at leasts).
Tried everything that I knew, which was:
-Changes in build.prop for the echo cancellation/noise reduction
-Cleaning the mic hole
-Changes in audio_platform_info.xml file (which contains the input/output devices list)
-Setting permissions for dialer/audio effects app
-Change to a different dialer app
-Disable audio effects app
-Various different stuff like service menu settings (*#*# etc)
-Reflash everything using CORRECT device images (5.1.1, 6.0, 6.0.1)
-Use different kernels
-Other things I forgot due to "fix attempts" ammount
I'm wondering if I shouldn't start my own thread to get visible, so
HELP PLEASE
#Edit - I didn't said, that the mic is WORKING - checked it using call recorder app and service test menu (not on the speakermode ofc).
Things I say are CLEAR TO HEAR on the playback, just the call receiver cannot hear me. Where is the devil hidden?
~~Regards

Yes. I did check the permissions. All for Hangouts are checked, there are non for Dialer. One thing I did notice is that when it is not working on a ROM for me Dialer is not having the popup after the first instance after installation. I've gone to a Marshmallow ROM for the time and it is working.

Mute specific App on Nougat

Hey,
im looking for a solution to mute a specific app.
I did that with the xposed module "app settings" before but right now i updated to Nougat (superman Rom, Magisk installed and rooted) and Xposed is not existing.
Im a diabetik and im frced to use a specific app to read my bloodsugar (librelink). It makes extremely loud sounds as soon as i read the data and has no mute option in settings.
Does anybody has an idea for that?
Kind regards
*push*
Hi there
I believe this app will solve your problem
"MegaSound"
It lets you set a custom sound for each app
Also it lets you set it to silent alternatively
just install it and give permissions when asked then press the + sign and tap your irritating app and choose silent.
Hope this helps :good:
If that does not work for you then its possible this app will be able to help.
App Volume Control
hey thank you so much for your recommendations! Megasound isnt working. And "App Volume Control" is doing half the way ^^. this librelink app is making a horrible 3 beep sound and its blocking the last 2 ones. do you have some more recommendations?
Hi again can you try instaling this apk? you might have to uninstall the previous version to install it.
im not sure how librelink stores your data is it backed up on there side with an account?
if not make sure to backup the app before you uninstall it.. i dont want you to loose any important readings..
i edited the current librelink apk and replaced the sound files with silent ones... so hopefully it will fix your problem.
Here is the App download
hope it works
Edit: i just gave it a listen and that sound is so loud and annoying!
hey i will but need to wat 1 more day so i have a new sensor, to avoid reading proeblems
ok i tried it and it looks like its not compatible! There is a message pooping up saying somthing like: You can't use this sensor with this version of librelink.
@twinko Try Autoset, I use it for the exact same usecase as yourself. Select the app, then choose "Silent" within Sound Mode. When you exit the app, it takes you back to the last used sound profile.
That is, if the phone was already silent, you will be taken back to silent, and if sound is on, you'll be taken back to that.
Works every single time
(I had tried to use Tasker for this too, but there is a delay with Tasker switching to a silent profile, also I never could get Tasker to return to the last used sound profile)
If the above method does not work upload the version of the apk you use for me and I'll edit the sound out of it and re upload for you.
Make sure to post @EasyAndroidPro so I get notified of your reply
@EasyAndroidPro here is tge export of my actual librelink apk https://www.file-upload.net/download-12604431/com.librelink.app-1.3.2.2.apk.html
I didn't tried auto set. Its an paid app and i only have bad experience with other apps trying to. Mute librelink (aside from xposed. Appsettings)
@twinko
done
https://mega.nz/#!5FIXAYTY!Kvm-z9r4ZWeY7DDDB-FW4-_v0FKtfk04Kj9ZXMvZ09k
i left the success sound in there but removed the error and alert sounds (3 beeps)
or if you want a full mute use this one
https://mega.nz/#!1BpBWCrZ!JO633OPnyHOJFbgVVFoNRAb-8znObfJfQDe8Mrd85aQ
@EasyAndroidPro file not existing
ah ok full mute is there wait ill test
@twinko my bad... when i uploaded the full mute version is overwrit the previous one
fixed now both should work
@EasyAndroidPro full mute with be absolutely perfect for me, the vibration isgood enough. I tried this version: https://mega.nz/#!1BpBWCrZ!JO633OPnyHOJFbgVVFoNRAb-8znObfJfQDe8Mrd85aQ
and it brings up the same error as the first version u made.
"You can't use this sensor with this version of librelink."
@twinko
sorry bro it must have some sort of protection against using a modified APK with the sensor . its the exact copy of the one you uploaded just with muted sounds.
im afraid i can't help any further... can only suggest to use the previous method to block half of the annoying sound
---------- Post added at 03:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:01 PM
@twinko
try using an app like Titanium backup to backup the original APK data where the sensor is already working and then intstall my modded version and then restoring the data with titanium backup
maybe that will work for you
@EasyAndroidPro i tried it with tb no succes, same error.............. i start to hate them :S
damn
i understand why lol it seems ridiculous that you can't simply mute the app with the volume rockers like every other app.
especially when the sound is so loud and annoying!
i see you understand me. The dev of this app seems like he never tried the app outside of his office

Re: S10+ auto volume adjustment

Re: S10+ auto volume adjustment
This issue started occuring since day 1 I had the phone. I'm using a radio app to listen to my favourite radio stations. I usually leave the radio running in the background and go to Instagram. After playing a video on Instagram the phone automatically increases the volume of the radio which is really annoying. Is there a way to fix this? I don't want to flash a custom ROM until the warranty is up. I'm willing to root the phone if there is a way for Knox to remain intact.
Not a fix exactly, more of a workaround you could try using this
http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.soundassistant
You can enable volume levels for individual apps.

Yeah something's not right, i just installed and set separate sound volume for Spotify and poweramp, yet they both start at the same level.
The idea is that when you start an app its preset to a particular level.
I will continue tinkering.

Strange. Mine now works as intended but now I get the exact opposite after watching a video. The sound of the radio goes down after I finished watching the video.
One more thing. It also happends if I don't have the Sound Assistant app installed. When the phone is about to increase/decrease the sound it makes a beep.
