Can the OEM Unlock toggle be triggered by a Factory Reset? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So a Question,
Can the OEM unlock be toggled back to Disable by any other way, other than doing it manually in developer settings?
Like from a Factory Data Wipe, ODIN Rom Install, Smart Switch ROM Install or something?
I've just enabled it, and I used a Deodexed settings apk in my rom to use a few mods. Now after a ROM update, the SecSettings.apk is odexed again, and that part of the settings is no longer accessible. So wondering whether the Rom would surprise me with a "Custom Binary locked by FRP" someday...
Thanks!

The answer is no. Once you turn on oem unlock, you can do what you want... No way to turn it off automatically, just only by yourself...

Hi,
Yes.
And wipe data and cache.
So backup first
Ok thanks.
I'd 4 backup of my device. One on CM, one on MIUI, one with Google Edition and One with stock ROM.
I don't understand, he say "job done" but I can't update him. He always say that the device has been modified. And if I launch Triangle, flash counter is on 0 and binary status on "Official". Do you have an idea?
Up please

Unroot for apply OTA

Hello,
I'm French sorry if my english is not perfect.
If a OTA arrives in my rooted Zenfone 2, I know I won't can apply it without root.
So I will need to unroot, and I think this is easy with the option in SuperSU app.
But I installed many apps like Xposed and modules which need the root.
So if I unroot, will them be deleted or just be unusable ?
And if I unroot, can I apply the OTA without make a bootloop, then apply a second time the root?
Thanks
Envoyé depuis mon Zenfone 2 ZE550ML
When an OTA comes just do this things:
1. remove xposed framework files using uninstaller.bat by connecting phone to pc
2. uninstall xposed installer.apk
3. unroot from supersu.apk
No need to uninstall xposed modules
4. now you are good to apply ota.
after successfull updation. u can again root, install xposed framework and installer
Thank you for your answer.
When I will reinstall Xposed, the modules will be install automatically or I must do that manually?
(or better they won't be uninstall? )

Oh yes I'm idiot I forgot that they are in an "apk form"
So yeah it's classic, just pick and reboot.

Apps which basically can't be deleted without root, like Asus ZenCircle, My ASUS...

You have to completely remove all the mods before applying ota or else you might get a bootloop or brick .

I should be ok for mm update... I checked through stock apps... Maybe I didn't delete anything but I'll make sure I move those third party applications out of system and then unroot via supersu.. Update ota and then re root and move them back.. Can't be that hard. First timer though, a little scared

So we need to have all bloatware system apps, unroot and also flash the stock recovery before OTA.
What if we download the full firmware and dirty flash the zip file?
Or, if we're on TWRP, wipe (system, cache, data...) and then flash?

You cannot flash full firmware via Twrp. You have to be using stock recovery and kernel

Help us to get Marshmallow beta - How to do a backup if you are a beta tester.

So, the general thread about the beta is a real mess, so here's one who will talks ONLY about the backup.
Only the people who have been selected as beta tester are supposed to reply in this thread, other don't have anything to do here!
Here's how to backup the firmware for us:

Ok guys,
I managed to get recovery and root on this beta
Now it's late here, so if someone else want to dump through a TWRP backup, here is how:
1) Unlock the bootloader
2) Flash the last TWRP via fastboot
-here is the recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3313889
3) Enter recovery -many thanks to @shoey63-
- Power off the phone
- Restart holding power button and volume down
- Release power button when you feel the single vibration whilst still holding power down
- Phone should enter recovery
4) Make a backup of system+boot and share it.

If you haven't already installed the beta BUT have been selected, do a backup of your TA partition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
If you have already installed the beta, you can still backup your TA partition but you will have to flash an old Lollipop ftf first, root your device and then backup the TA.
Once done you can unroot and wait Marshmallow OTA who will come back
If something isn't clear or if you need help for any parts, just ask
Soooo, I wrote a nice tutorial...
For me
But it works, I just backed up the boot and system
Jajaja... xDDDD, you know we all appreciate it anyway
Humm, we will need a special TWRP build to do a better backup...

Terminal command to backup a file or partition bit for bit
Should work from TWRP using it own terminal or ADB.
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system of=/sdcard/system.img
Look it up :fingers-crossed:
(e.g. here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368121)
EDIT: Or if you are rooted you could even try it from the running system.

Im not sure if you have tried this but you can hotboot twrp, the screen will stay black but you should be able to use ADB

s7 edge problem

hi
After the failure to pass one of the custom roms to my G935FD and the non-response of the device i installed an official Rom with 4 files and then the Recovery. The problem is that the device no longer accept any custom rom and i was forced each time to re-pass the official Rom through Odin which is cumbersome process.
Please help solve this problem. Thanks
i tried to restore my last rom from the sd card but i have these messages in recovery mode
