The one and only way to change your notification bar is root. The notification bar is part of the framework-res.apk in the system. To modify this file in anyway you need root. Sorry your out of luck
Check out G.O.T's Openrecovery......it will allow you to root if you haven't already and has a nice theme included with a black notification bar!
Am using it right now and looks good...although I would suggest not installing the fonts as they are slightly messed up on the new update.

It doesn't work for the 02.38 leaked build from GOT Team...or rather, it works but it mess up all the text, because Motorola have made some changes in framework-res.apk on that build. With the past build, 02.31, it works flawlessly.

You can try to remove got theme, in OpenRecovery folder delete "fonts" and retry applying theme. It should go
I wasn't referring to the GOT Theme (I've tried it and it works, even if I don't like it that much) but to the SenseUI/Black notification bar linked by iamdarren on droidforums.net, it confuses some texts on the Shols_2.38. For example when you want to shut down the phone, it shows "airplane mode" instead of "shut down phone" and other things like that.
I know it's an old thread, but ia am also looking for a black notification bar.
Using Telus build 3.11.
Anyone th files?
does anyone know if this works on milestone xt720 eu ver? and 2.1 upd-1
The ss evo theme for droid (has to be installed over simply stunning 4.7) has a nice notification bar. Dunno if u can install just the bar though. :/
Hi
I have a galaxy S2 and I want to be able to trace out gestures on my lock screen that will then trigger specific actions.
I'm looking for the same functionality that apps such as gesture search have, but on the lockscreen rather than inside and app.
Could anyone please tell me how I could achieve this?

You'll need CM7 for that
If you are looking for an app.,
1) Gesture Lockscreen,2) Gesture Lock,3) MyGesture on Android Market.
Plz be very careful while using them.I really doubt if they work efficiently

Hmm yes you are right, the apps seem to have poor reviews.
Could you please explain how I could get CM7?
I know nothing about modding, is it difficult/dangerous? Do I lose all my current configurations and settings when I mod?
If those questions are too much for this thread then I will ask in the actual mod thread.
Just download Rom manager from market . Flash recovery, go to download rom, look for cyanogen mod , tap , then download the latest version if u want or just look up on comments if that version dint work, then when finished flas decovery wipe data and cache + dalvick, then install rom from zip, it should be on downloads or clockword mod , then scrooll to yes
Try "Widget Locker" on the market.. It may be what your looking...
Hi i want to use aosp mms app on my N9005. I had s3 and was using aosp transparent mms app. It was awesome. I found this link which is working on S4.

Is there anyone can port this to N9005? Please make it for aosp loversâș
hi is there anyone can help me?
porting the text messaging application is a complete $#@!%^ nightmare... just use 8sms, it nearly exactly the same thing but with more features.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkleft.eightyeightsms.mms&hl=en
"Stock messaging app with useful updates and enhancements.
The latest and best from Android and CyanogenMod.
No bloat. No fuss.
Just a better stock app.
8sms is a port of the Android stock messaging (sms and mms) app with a few extra useful features then added on. The current version is ported from Android "

Try this one. I use on n9005 with Temasek 4.4.4 and works brilliantly.
Rename original mms.apk in system priv app to disable. Copy this one in and set perms to rw-r-r and reboot.
Switch to messaging in settings more and your good to go.

Hey xda People,
can someone teach me how to enable native call recording on the s7 edge please? I rooted my s7 edge few hours ago and I'm done setting it up how I want minus the call recording... can someone help? also can maybe someone help getting App Lock to work? anyone out there knows how it's done?
cheers
I don't know if anybody else has this but after i have finished a phone call, all my conversations are in the Voice Recorder app on my phone inside the recordings tab. Very clear sound on both sides of the conversation. Try that.
Since you have root, get Xposed Framework, then get xTouchWiz Module, its in the settings. I have call recording through this.
Get Xposed here, then flash it AND ALSO get the APK for the Xposed app there,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960
Then get the xTouchWiz module inside Xposed framework, the phone recording can also be configured to on/off toggle or auto record every call.
Both Mods in CSC/Others.xml

Use what I've suggested. This is a small mod which doesn't have to go through Xposed.
I prefer system inbuilt mods rather than depending on an app or xposed.
Mental pleasure of making the rom lightweight.

YAAAAAAAAS!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! And I'm 100% on board with u on the Mental pleasure of making the rom lightweight.
I did what u told me. Added the lines in others.xml in the csc folder and and created a AppLock folder in System/Priv-App/ and copied the AppLock.apk in there and set the right permissions.
After reboot nothing.
read thread and installed busybox via playstore and installed busybox from within app. Do I have to keep the busybox app after installing the "framework" or whatever busybox is?
After reboot nothing.
looked at the "code" says something about SmartManager in the beginning. Does this depend on SmartManager? Because I deleted it whilst de-bloating....
trying to get SmartManager to work again right now. In the meantime can someone maybe point out something I could have missed or done wrong please?

It's a Samsung native app which allows to lock apps individually. For example you can lock Gallery using this app with fingerprint, pin, password and have to enter one of those to get access to the app. Very good security measurement.

For those who can't find Applock - Go to Smart Manager and Swipe once to Left. It's on the Second Dashboard Bottom Row named as App Behavior.

ROM is stable and battery life is better. Pixel blue is the stock color of this ROM and fingerprint works nicely. No random reboots and SuperSU works with no problems
But the ROM does not have some features or options which other ROMs offer. No option to turn off screenshot sounds and there is no option to disable voltage and temperature text which is shown on lockscreen. Also there is no option to edit power menu and no pocket detection.
No pixel lock and unlock sounds are present in this ROM.
Also some more problems I have encountered here are-
The bottom part of status part where settings, user, etc tabs are located don't open whenever I tap on them. I had to restart the device to make them work.
Whenever I restart, shutdown or restart to recovery, com.qualcomm.shutdownlistener has unfortunately stopped working comes up in back.
When I go to battery to check the battery consumption, there is an app called 39999. I don't know what is that.
