Hi, i was using CM7 for a week, then suddenly, the mobile network begin to be freaky, cant stay on a network, cant make call and anything, I already cheked the apn settings and everything..
also switched to wcdma prefferred, to gsm only, or to wcdma sometime got signal, but after 1 or 2 minutes, cant connect to a network...
anyone can help please..
I'm having this as well ever since the update.
Gingerbread is half-baked if you ask me.
it seems to make and receive calls only in EDGE (in GSM ONLY mode), but when i change it to preferred wcdma or to wcdma only to get 3G, sometime get full signal but cant make any calls and also cant use data and sometimes got no service.. only in EDGE mode..
all this happen after using CM7 for a week... anyone please help..
baseband and radio are 32.50.0032U_5.12.00.08...
I also restore it to stock to FROYO FRF33 and the same issue, dont know what cause it..
I'm not sure it is fully related to gingerbread. I'm still using CM6 and had this issue on and off for about 3 days. It seems to have cleared up for me (knock on wood)
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
yess im having the same problem, i also noticed it after flashing to either honeycomb alpha or the new gingerbread update [i did both within an hour] but i cant fix this problem...:/
still cant connect to 3G, only in EDGE mode...
cant connect to a 3G network, already changed the radio to 5.08, 5.12 and downgrade it to 4.06 and nothing...
anyone know this issue??
if I cant solve it, I might gonna sell my Nexus One..,
Network issues have nothing to do with the phone, if they're constant with different ROMs. Check with your service provider.

is not the service provider, I change the sim card to another phone, and the 3G works flawless.
Also, put another sim of other carries with the same band, changed the APN settings, and it's the same problem with 3G, only work on 2G...
In that case, 2 options:
1) Wipe and check again.
If still doesn't work -
2) Hardware failure. Use the warranty.
I've been recently (1-2 months) battling with Data problems also and I don't know what the issue is. I know it isn't my Carrier because I just spent the whole month on the phone with them and they actually sent a Guy TO MY HOUSE to test the connection. I've never had problems before until around CM7 and me switching plans (which is what I thought it was).
My problem is that it works, but data just stops and doesn't want to reconnect. I have to toggle Airplane mode or reset to jump start it. I think changing towers while driving might do this too.
I've done the same tests. Changed Sim, Swapped Sims, etc. EDGE seems to be stable for me but 3G is wonky. I've flashed a PASSIMG and started from scratch that way back to root and CM7. I've downgraded my HBoot and reupgraded it. I've wiped and changed radio versions.
Right now I plan to swap to a few other Gingerbread roms and see if that fixes it. My N1 being my only internet connection it is hard to download other custom roms but I grabbed a few from work and put on my SD card.
I'm not blaming CM7 but at this point I'm really thinking about changing phones.
Ive read that there are issues with the Nexus One gps. Is this true and if so, what issues have you experienced?
PS. GPS doesnt have anything to do with the carrier does it?
well... my nexus already have 1 year, I'll sell it in a very cheap price, and buy the INSPIRE 4G and root it...
thx for your help guys..
I have purchased a used Note 4. It was already rooted so i went ahead and installed Nameless ROM and the appropriate bootloader_modem.
Now, i have no data connection and can't make any calls. Even if the bars show that there is coverage. WiFi works fine.
My first idea was to revert it to stock so i downloaded the N910GDTU1COJ3_N910GXSA1COJ3_XSA stock rom and flashed it in Odin. Full wipe and cahce clean after the flash.
I am still facing the same problem that the phone doesn't have data or voice service. Any ideas what else to try or what could be the problem?
TIA
Anyone?
for me...i always lost signal... i dont know why...910f
Same issue
Went back to stock ROM a few months ago, but this has just started with me. 4 days and not able to connect to any data service.
Tried new Sim and manual network selection, just refuses.

Hi @dosada, i guess I.have the same problem as you, I can't connect to any 3G or 4G anymore. Now, I only can use 2G and Wi-Fi. so try to put network mode to 2G only, because if you put network mode in 4g or 3g or 4g/3g/2g automatic or 3g/2g automatic you will always end with Emergency calls only or no service. I already asked help for that but no one can solve it. I already tried everything I know but no way, no one can solve it. So just courage and let us know if you get solution somewhere.
I think that it is the last time that I use or buy a Samsung phone, they really suck recently. it's better to spend our money to buy other phone than Samsung, they lost the trust of their customers. They were number one but now...puffff...

Hello,
I've had this issue across more than 1 device and more than 1 carrier.
Here's what happens:
I enable WiFi, and for a while everything works as expected. I can send and receive MMS messages. I can disable WiFi and go back to my 4G connection.
The problem is, after an unknown amount of time, the phone drops the 4G connection in the background. I only know when I can't receive/send MMS messages anymore. At that point, if I disable WiFI there's no 4G data connection, and I have to turn Airplane mode off and turn it back on.
This is really annoying. It happened to me using Sprint and a Galaxy S4 (both stock and custom ROMs) and it's happening to me with a Galaxy S5 from MetroPCS. (I've used the stock Metro ROMs, Stock T-mobile ROMs, and Custom T-mobile ROMs).
Right now I'm using a Stock T-mobile ROM with the latest firmware, carrier is MetroPCS.
What can I do so this doesn't happen? It's really frustrating.
Thank you for your time.

Hello.
That's already disabled.
Should I enable it?
I tried with "smart network switch" enabled and disabled and problem still happened.
My S5 G900F Android 5.00 (Smart Network Switch disabled, Power Save disabled) on EE UK has had this problem for 9 months after phone upgraded itself to Lollipop (EE win the accolade to being the SLOWEST ON THE PLANET to provide Android updates.....). Since Jan 3, my wife's G901, a couple of weeks after it upgraded from 5.0 to 5.02, has developed the same problem. Neither phone has ever been rooted or other.
I have fruitlessly searched everywhere for a solution without success. EE Customer Services Tier 2 & Samsung's own service centre have failed to fix it. EE & Samsung blame each other for 5.1 or 5.1.1 not being available for download. Neither is prepared to resolve the issue despite hours on the phone. Have tried Safe Mode, Factory Reset, clearing everything, reloading APNs & Samsung even reloaded Android. All a waste of time: Many many days of it!
After approx half an hour connected to Wi-Fi, only way to get the mobile data to connect, is either reboot, enter & exit Air-plane mode or flip the 4G > 3G > 4G connection under More Networks. Have tested the fault in different cell areas countries and continents; fault is same everywhere.
It seems there are quite a few sufferers of this problem.
Samsung S5 keeps losing data connection
I have the same problem. My new Samsung phone loses the data connection (even though data is turned on) and I can only re-connect by restarting the phone. The first EE shop I took it to couldn't help at all. The second gave me a new SIM - that didn't work. Then I tried online support and after 3.5 hours of my life, in which I was passed on from one person to another, they completed a factory re-set - which didn't work (and additionally lost all the personalisation of my screen and some of my contacts). So I now have a not-very-smart phone which I have to re-start every time I want to use data. This is a business contract and the phone is less than two months old, but I'm not getting any effective support from EE. Android version is 5.0.2
me too, since last update. and app 'phono' shows "mobile data off" not got a time on it, but when i leave wifi coverage, it wont reconnect to cell data 2g/3g/4g. flightmode toggle to restore.
Abandon hope if you have this intermittent mobile data problem!
...at least until there is a software update, though I have no idea if that will help.
I have now tried a new sim card, a factory reset, and a replacement phone - which was provided only because I'm a business customer and I found a sympathetic member of staff. *By the way, I was told that if you are personal customer they won't consider replacing your phone if it is more than a month old - even if you started complaining about the phone as soon as you got it, the chances are a month will have elapsed by the time they put you through the hoops of a new sim, reset etc - and then it is too late to insist on a replacement phone.
In any case the replacement phone didn't resolve the issue so I have reached* a dead end. My phone fails to connect to data after having been connected to wifi - you have to do it manually each time you move away from a wifi connnection. At first I was doing it by restarting the phone, but am now following the advice of someone else who has the same problem and am going into flight mode and out again. *
This is not satisfactory, and it seems from reading forums that EE are to blame for the problem rather than Samsung, but I'm not 100% sure about that.*
Possible solution that works, for me, at the moment!
Having suffered this issue of my S5 (SM-G901F) not connecting to mobile data after being on Wi-Fi for a while unless switching airplane mode on/off for a few weeks; although it has probably been happening since the update I received late December; I have tried all of the turn this switch off, factory resets (x2), etc, etc, etc. and Googled the issue without success.
I have found this thread interesting, and I even tried calling EE support only to be told "you have tried everything that we would tell you to do" and "it wouldn't be a sim card, or handset issue, sounds like software". The reply was basically that like-it or lump it until the 5.1 update is released "by Samsung not EE because EE do not release Android updates". [Perhaps EE don't release the updates, but the stock rom is tested by them and their bloatware added before they eventually release it!!!]
Following my last reset I tried selectively re-installing the apps I used incase that was causing the issue. No Luck!
One last thing I tried was to look at every system 'thing' that I could find which used/switched any part of the mobile/mobile data/wifi - in addition to the settings I had already tried (all of which were mentioned in this thread previously). One thing I could not find not mentioned here, or anywhere, was the VoWi-Fi call on/off which I had always set to on as I do not live in a great reception area. Calling over Wi-Fi is great when you don't have a strong mobile signal.
Having 'played' with this setting for the last 24 hours I have found that the VoWi-Fi on/off appears to be a possible cure - for me anyway.:fingers-crossed:
When VoWi-Fi was set to off and leaving the phone connected to Wi-Fi overnight, the S5 immediately switched to mobile data this morning when I turned the Wi-Fi off . It continued to switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data all morning whilst out and about in and out of Wi-Fi connections - Woop Woop!!!
I then tried switching VoWi-Fi on (with Wi-Fi on and at home), leaving the phone for a number of hours, only to find that when I turned Wi-Fi off the phone refused to connect to mobile data even with a 'decent' mobile signal. The only way to get it to connect was to go back to switching Airplane mode on/off.
Switched VoWi-Fi off again, left Wi-Fi connected, left the phone for a couple of hours, etc. and hey-presto immediately switched to mobile data when I turned the Wi-Fi off. [Dances around the room because he's got the S5 automatically switching to mobile data again. Even though I'm at home with a great fibre internet and strong Wi-Fi connection!!!]
I do not know if this could be a solution for the others who are suffering from this issue, but it appears to be a solution for me at the moment. I thought I would share as your previous posts have helped me and you all seem to be pulling your hair out; like I have been; trying to find a solution.
Try it, it may work, but don't shoot me if it doesn't!
It's encouraging to know that I'm not crazy. I've had this issue across two devices and carries.
John,
Thank for your suggestion about WiFi calling. Unfortunately, I always have it off! I never used it, so maybe I should try turning it on? We'll see lol.
At this point, I think this is going to be my last Galaxy line phone.
Is it wi-fi calling that's causing the problem?
I have wondered if there is a link with wi-fi calling, but haven't tested it properly. I signed up with ee and bought the Galaxy phone specifically so that I could use wifi calling, as the town where I live (in the Scottish Borders) doesn't get a mobile signal strong to work reliably indoors from any of the networks. I'll try turning off wi-fi calling to see if that sorts the data thing (though I see that for one person above it did not). That would mean I wouldn't get calls or texts when I'm at home so it would not be a permanent solution for me. But in fact the wi-fi calling is not reliable anyway....

still no change and its a pita.....
I'm gonna make a post here since NOTHING seems to be working. I'm a T-Mobile customer. Yesterday, I purchased a great condition nexus 6P from someone because my LG G5 is cracked and I was getting tired of it anyway so I opted to just buy a nexus instead of using my insurance on that phone. Everything is all good except for one major issue. VOLTE and WiFi calling just refuse to work with my sim in the Nexus.
I've called T-Mobile twice. I've factory reset from back up and reset settings twice. I've hard reset from stock recovery once. I've wiped network settings and restored default apns. I've manually changed the apns from what I see on Google, reddit and here. I've copied my apns from my LG G5 where VOLTE and wifi calling work perfectly fine. I've cleared cache. I've cleared the cache of the project fi and hangouts apps just in case there's something left over from the previous owner. I've gone into the *#*#4636 menu and tried a bunch of different stuff several times but no matter what I absolutely can not get wifi calling or VOLTE to work with TMobile on my nexus 6P. LTE it's self works perfectly fine for data.
Yes, all settings for wifi calling and enhanced LTE calling and VOLTE are turned on lol. I've tried the trick where you toggle wifi preferred on and off and restart the phone. Nothing happens. I don't even get a wifi calling reg error. It never shows as active in the data toggle in the quick settings are nor the status bar or dialer. It just isn't active. Same for VOLTE. I AM getting band 12. I can see it in the LTE discovery app. VOLTE just isn't working though. Whenever I make a call I can see LTE switching off and it switches to HSPA therefore making calls really difficult in my shoddy signal area at my house which is why I really need it to work.
I'm fairly certain I can root and install a ROM which will fix these problems but I don't own a PC. . I thought MAYBE the previous owner had previously had the phone rooted and tinkered with something somewhere that may have messed something up but that doesn't appear to be the case. Bootloader is locked and recovery is stock.
Can anybody help and tell me what in the world is going on here? I don't want to have to sell this nexus and revert back to my cracked screen G5. I would just switch carriers but I still owe money on the G5 so I was just gonna ride it out til I payed it off.
O and one last thing, after scowling google and forums for hours on end yesterday and today I did see one post mentioning something about this stuff being related to IMS provisioning and settings which are tied to a phones IMEI on T-Mobile and not the sim card and how that person simply called T-Mobile and got a hold of wifi calling technical support who was clueless but created a ticket for him and within 72 hours the issue was resolved. OK well I did the same exact thing and they refuse to create a ticket for me because it's not a T-Mobile phone and because according to them they are not allowed to create a ticket because wifi calling works fine in my G5 and therefore it's the phone and not them or their network lol. What a crock. I'm willing to bet if I put the sim in another unlocked phone with 7.1.1 and wifi calling fully available that it isn't going to work either. There's some sort of communication error going on between the sim being in this phone and their network it appears.
Check these screenshots out. T-Mobile is clueless

I can only suggest;
1) Find a PC and re-flash the latest factory images from Google. Both "fastboot flashing unlock" and "fastboot flashing lock" will wipe all data, so backup first. Also confirm it fully boots correctly after flashing before you re-lock the bootloader.
2) Get a new 3-in-1 SIMM from T-Mobile. You can use their web site to switch cards and give it 24 hours to be fully provisioned.
3) Confirm your E911 address is correct on T-Mobile's site and wait 24 hours after any changes for Wi-Fi calling to actually start working.
I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS YOU POSTED!!! GONE THRU THE SAME PAIN. LOL I'll attempt the ticket thing to see if I get anywhere. Did you ever get it resolved?
EDIT:
My theory is that since the phone was used in Project FI, they specifically turn off this feature in the back end for the specific phones, by Imei or something since project FI uses T-Mobile as well.
EDIT 2:
they wont' create a ticket for me either. I guess I will just have to ride it out.
EDIT 3: I FIXED IT!! NEXUS 6P VOLTE AND WI-FI CALLING FIX T-MOBILE
I flashed back to android 6.0 Build#: MMB29N (I used the Nexus ToolKit 2.1.9: google it. BTW, your phone will be wiped, so backup first) VOLTE just started working with this version of android 6.0. Then I upgraded using the OTAs and now i'm on 7.1.1 build#: N4F260 with VOLTE and Wifi calling working as it should! I hope this helps someone out there!
For what it's worth, reverting to the build you mentioned fixed it for me on my two Nexus phones coming from Project Fi to T-Mobile as well! Thanks for the help!
You only need to install the radio from build MMB29N. I did this by downloading the build from the android website. Extract the radio from the zip and install it (I used nexus root toolkit but you can also just use flashboot if you wanted). This means you don't even need to revert your image and lose your data.

wish I had seen this sooner. cheers!
Had the exact same issue and this fix worked for me. Wasted a couple of hours with T-mobile (they were actually very helpful and debugged everything on their end to confirm the provisioning was good) and then 2+ hours with Google support. Actually had already filed for a device replacement which I canceled after finding this post.
I'm so glad I found this thread - my VoLTE and WiFi calling has not been working on T-Mobile and I'm anxious to give this a try. Numerous phone calls and support tickets with T-Mobile haven't resolved the issue. I don't know much other than how to follow detailed directions. My phone isn't rooted and bootloader is locked. I'm on Android version 7.1.2. Is there a way for me to install the MMB29N radio on my Nexus 6P without losing my app data given that my bootloader is locked?

Flashing the radio -sadly- requires an unlocked bootloader.
Did you resolve your problem?
In android 7.1.2 did you notice in Set preferred network type is set at " LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) "? 7.1.2 has been giving me issues with sms/mms. I noticed Android 6.0 has this set to correct T-mobile bands.
All works for me in 7.1.2. Make sure you don't download the Verizon version of the stock ROM. That was my issue why I couldn't have volte and Wi-Fi calling
Hi all,
I grew tired with the lack of VoLTE and WiFi calling on my unbranded, bought direct from Samsung S8 - there's no sign of Three enabling either on unbranded phones.
So I did the unthinkable and flashed the H3G branded firmware - all went fine.
Only trouble is - I have no VoLTE - the option isn't there - and I don't get VoLTE in places where I know I should and have had in the past on my S7.
Three are useless and haven't a clue what I'm talking about. So I wondered if anyone here knows how VoLTE is actually supposed to work with the S8 on Three. I don't have the VoLTE on/off toggle like I did in the settings on my S7 and I don't get VoLTE in places where I used to get VoLTE on my S7. I either get nothing or a very low H/4G.
Is this expected behaviour and are the options just hidden now? Do you still get the little VoLTE indicator as with the S7 when the S8 is using VoLTE?
I was in the same situation, unbranded from Samsung, had to do a full wipe + H3G flash through ODIN and both VoLTE and Wifi calling work.
I had trouble getting them both, until I re-partitioned the phone in ODIN, which was a pain.

Hi,
Does it now work as described with the on/off toggle in settings? Three basically told me that this is just how it works, any options are hidden and it won't go near VoLTE unless there is literally no other signal of any other kind. Where as on my S7 I had the option to switch on and off plus I got the VoLTE symbol in a lot of places.
Is there a guide to link to regarding the re-partitioning you did?
I'm reading some pretty scary things about the re-partition button in Odin!
Yes, re-partitioning was a pain, I got some bootloop issues as a result so wouldn't recommend it (no specific guide from memory)
I actually cannot see any on/off toggle in settings, VoLTE icon appears on most 4g areas.

I went for it - no problems, carried out exactly the same process only this time I ticked 're-partition'. I've just restored all my apps and had to reset my Gear S3 again.
I also downloaded the small (40MB-ish) OTA update that comes down after the re-flash, which I assume is the VoLTE settings from Three.
So far, all I've noticed is that WiFi calling is a lot more stable - before, the WiFi calling icon was appearing and vanishing all the time. Now it's solid.
No sign of VoLTE - or any VoLTE toggle. I'll see what happens when I'm out and about later, hopefully it'll have worked.
(Although I'm sure I got VoLTE at home on my S7, I might be mistaken. Checking the coverage checker I'm in solid VoLTE territory though.)
I must say, factory re-store/re-flashing is so much better now that the Samsung back-up and restore app actually restores everything properly! Right down to the shortcuts and widgets on your homescreens. I was dreading it.

i was hoping you could share your copy. of course i am downing from sam mobile but its taking an AGE.
i flashed it... no problems wifi calling there but no volte for now.
I've been doing some reading, it seem that the way they have it set up is so that VoLTE is a last resort when you lose all other 3G and 4G signal. So if there's 3G available you'll never see VoLTE (or WiFi calling for that matter).
Also explains why you have to have their firmware and they've blocked access to it on unbranded phones? Because surely with regular firmware, if it's there - the phone will log on to it and they can't control that on an unbranded phone. Or is it controllable by the network?
I wonder why they've done this? Seems odd. Also odd that there's no switch, one of the reasons I hate branded firmware is that they can mess with stuff like that, I hate the idea that they're hiding functions and messing with stuff on my phone, that I paid £650 for! - along with the horrible boot logos and bloat.
Wish they would allow it to work on unbranded phones, I'm running dual sim so no chance of ever being able to install

If you decide to unlock your device and go down the TWRP and Custom ROMS path then feel free to use the attached ZIP to flash the H3G Three CSC to enable WiFi Calling/VoLTE and Call Recording.
I took the CSC utility posted by Tkkg1994 and created a flashable TWRP zip with just the relevent files removing the APK that Three put on when first setting up the phone as well as the Three boot animation leaving the Samsung stock one in place. I did this to save having to have a 1.5GB file on my phone with CSC's that I don't need. All credit goes to Tkkg1994 for the CSC Utility.
I have only tested this on the single sim SM-G950F however and I also recommend making sure you have an EFS backup beforehand as I know the CSC Utility does do that even though this zip doesn't mount and do anything with the EFS partition.

That is really silly. EE do the same thing in terms of needing their firmware to use VoLTE but they do not limit it only when you have bad signal lol that is foolish. Funny how things are with different manufacturers. On my U11, VoLTE works for all UK networks with stock unbranded firmware and it even has a toggle, unlike the S7/S8. You'd think there would be more options on the more popular phone.

Use updato.com. no download speed limit
I spoke to three over twitter and they advised they do plan to release this to unbranded phones but there is no date in mind at present
I had to do the same to get Volte on EE.
Does work everywhere though.
WiFi calling worked out the box on BTU unlocked.
Only issue is EE is **** slow at releasing updates.
Is there a file I can flash to enable WiFi and VOLTE on EE when using a custom ROM? Works great on the stock EE firmware but I would like to use another custom ROM.

You have to edit csc files to enable them
