I am on stock Marshmallow rom with squids custom kernel.Using it from months.Suddenly today it started heating a lot.I don't do gaming neither i use any heavy app. Just got a new turbo charger 10-12 days ago. But today it's heating a lot even when the phone's idle and the temperature reaches 60-65Celcius while charging . And it's hanging alot. Formatted but not positive results. The charging speed has also decreased drastically.
I'm a noob so please consider.
Help.
Thanks in advance.
Check if media server is eating battery or not
Some times when we dnld a file and pause it in a middle then media server scans it over and over it may be a reason....
Yes, media server normally causes some heat on X Play, but 65 celsius seems like way too much. I have squid r19 but no overheating issues. Though, microphone recently refused to work. I'm looking for an answer before proceeding to replace it...

Dear All mate,
Do you have experience on Atom's Battery when playing the game or running the program(listen MP3) more than 5 minute, then you can feel the battery a little bit heat like abnormal.
I had experience usingthe o2 mini before, althought play the game or listen MP3 more than 1 hour, but didn't has this situation. Someone can share the experiece for this situation on Atom.
Thanks
yeah i am experiencing the same problem. if the phone is used for more than about 10mins of gaming or cpu intensive job then it starts heating up. just simple mp3 playback also causes it to heat up. if anybody could help out. my battery also drains in about 12hrs. i have the date/time, wifi/BT status, messaging n device lock on my today screen. could any of these be a problem for my battery drainage or heating up ??[/list]
hey by switching off the wifi/BT status item from the today screen, my battery consumption has reduced ten folds ! now if only someone could help out with the heating problem.
thank you.
I got my htc hd2 in April 2010 and now after 11 months its having some heating issues.
After recording video for 5 mins or more and using wifi for over 30 min the base of the phone starts getting heated up and it shuts down.
I changed rom, installed another radio but the problem remains.
Heating up slightly is normal during heavy use but shutting down is not. Do you have an aftermarket (non-genuine) battery installed, the phone inside a case or an overclocked ROM?
If none of the above then try installing the latest stock HTC ROM to test, but your hardware maybe faulty.
It happened to me 3 months ago. I did everything I remember, change radio, kernel, task29, official rom, etc. but nothing changed.
In my case, the phone rebooted everytime I did heavy usage.
I took it to the SAT. The result? Mobo issue=replaced for a new one.
How much is it costs?
Is it covered with warranty?
Mine does the same, can't even talk on the phone without it shutting off
I'm not a ROM/Radio specialist, but I do play with hardwrae. It sounds to me like your battery or power circuit is faulty. An overheating battery has to be caused by an excess chemical reaction which needs a catalyst like a faulty circuit (excess demand) or a chemical floor in the battery creating eddy currents.

Just use the search function. this issue was discussed last summer and it happens to ALL HD 2s when they are used heavily in hot weather (car dashboard in navi function) or in general heavy operation.
It is a fault by design and cannot be cancelled out by software.
Mostly it freezes or reboots at approx. 46°C batt-temp.
Install batt-temp app to check Your temp.
To be fair to the OP he only referred to heavy use, not hot weather, but yes using search would have answered his own question enventually.
was wondering if anyone notices a significant battery drain with 4.4 on dalvik.rebooting with ART to see if there is a difference.
looks like ART is holding up the battery nicely so far.
I had massive drain with Google Play service keeping the phone awake 98% of the time. This is no longer happening after reboot.
one thing i've noticed with ART besides the hopeful battery improvement, is i cant play games when using ART.that sucks. bsplayer also will not open, just lock up my device.
No problems here. 5 hours screen on time... Loving it.

I flashed factory image of kitkat and I noticed that my phone is getting very hot while charging even when I was not using it.
So I started investigating and I noticed that the processor, which should idle at 384 mhz,is actually staying at 1 GHz(only 2 cores).
I know it can be because of mp decision but then I changed screen off time to 1 mins and still it hovers between 1 Ghz to 1.1 Ghz(only 2 cores) which in turns increases the battery temperature (around 42 degrees centigrade) and may lead to slow charging.I cleared the stats and let system monitor record fresh stats for 30 mins and result was same. I think it could be a bug or some kind of background task which gets triggered only on charging(maybe processes like trimming etc) . I was not able to identify the process as most of the wake lock detector and process monitor apps are not compatible with kitkat.
I used system monitor app to monitor all this. Anybody else facing this issue???
Thank you
NOTE: I restarted after all this and battery level was at 70% and temperature was around 43 degrees after restart everything seemed normal and temperature gradually went to 35 degrees (checked when battery was around 95%).

I experienced a hot phone with my first 4.4 flash but don't have that after reflashing. I get really quick charges. And a nice batt. Life. Still with the same problem though.... I can't play zombie tsunami in ART mode. I'll try uninstalling then reinstalling to see if it works
After the Nougat 7.1.1 update, the battery backup is so ridiculous that, the charge even depletes even after screen goes off(depletes continously even when i dont use my phone). I have to charge my X play minimum 3 times a day and i doesnt feels good when having such a large battery of 3630mah with poor battery performance.I have seen my fellow friends using moto x play running the same 7.1.1 and having a decent battery backup and no charge depletion unnecessarily.
i am running stock android 7.1.1 with no root and locked bootloader.I have tried removing unnecessary apps ,switching off wifi scanning and locations.
Suggest me some better ideas to resolve this problem
Do a factory reset.

i even tried that bro. Still i am experiencing this problem
Root it.. Install xposed.. Install greenify through magisk.. Greenify all apps... Use interactive scripts by placing them in init.d.. I'm getting 3½ hours SOT on 4g...and 4½ hours (sometimes 5) on wifi.
Been having same issue with my x play. I have to put slight pressure on the micro usb
I have tried several micro usb leads and all the same effect I googled the symptoms and read up that a lot of fluff/lint gets into the opening at the charging port so I gave mine a bit of a clean and it had slight improvement a little squirt of WD40 helped a lot but still have to put a little pressure now and then.
I been using this lg v20 for almost 3 years, and this is my only problem it gave me after those years.
Sorry for my bad english
My lg v20 had this problem just recently... Every time i unplug it from the charger it freeze if it doesnt its so laggy you cant even do anything like navigating to settings or so on... But when i plug the charger it turns back to normal... What could be the problem? ... I was thinking it was just the battery but the other one i used is just almost a week even the original battery can still last a day normal use without gaming... Is there any case out there like mine? Does it have a fix?
Btw im running los 16 + gamma v15 f800s kv
Thanks in advance
Try cleaning the USB port?
My wife's us996 had an issue and cleaning the port fixed it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/absolutely-terrible-battery-life-t3531456/post78654160
Itried cleaning but no luck
It turns out that when my phone starting to heat up its lags but when I plug the charger it turns back to normal... And also I notice there are some flickering on the screen specially on the 2nd screen
Well, to rule out a hardware issue, I would go back to a stock rom and give it a week or two to see if your issue still exists. If the issue is still there with stock, there's definitely a hardware issue, battery or otherwise.
Have you tried a battery monitoring app, like Gsam, Better battery stats, or accubattery? That could give you a clue on what's running/causing the heat issue.
I'm using accubattery and it seems there's no problem at all. My phone won't heat up unexpectedly thou but every time I play games or even doing intensive tasks that's where the problem kicks in. I also noticed while I'm tweaking at kernel auditor the CPU temp is 78c but the phone isn't that hot. Im thinking the thermal paste isn't doing its job and maybe causing the problem
