Seems like maps is consuming much battery. Haven't even started it since I disconnected from charger (4 hours ago). Even though it stands for 30% usage. Battery now is 83% and have been.
Any suggestions?

Nope. I love the app. Didi'nt use this much battery on Froyo.
same problem here, only on GB roms, so I hope it will be fixed next roms or the next version of gmaps.

I have also experienced insane battery drain on ALL SGS rom's I've ever had (froyo, ginger). As if its typical for this device. If you turn on latitude, don't expect more than half a day on battery... especially if 3G is also turned on.
I also have a ZTE Blade. It has I believe a 1100 mAh battery, easily taking 2 days on battery with normal use + latitude + 3G.
Yeah, I loved latitude until the day I got GB, then I had at most a full day of battery life. Now, without Latitude I can manage up to three days. So, hopefully Google can find a fix.
Battery drain is caused by Latitude in GB. If you turned it off but battery drain didn't stop - simply check off/on Use wireless networks in Location and Security Menu. It should help.

I can confirm that the "Use wireless networks" option in the "Location and security" menu in the settings is draining battery. I think Google is using this to create a worldwide map of wireless networks to be able to use it for position estimation when GPS is off or unavailable. They are warning you when you switch it on, so it's not spying on you without your knowledge. The problem is that it seems that the software is not well written and drains your battery. I've switched it off and the battery use improved a lot.
Hello everybody
I have problem with battery drain when my WiFi is on. During night my battery drain 1-2% which is great and WiFi is off, but when I turn my WiFi on and just read news with some app it goes down 5-10% in like 10-15 min. I'm not rooted because he is still in warranty and I don't wanna lose it just yet.
I've searched the forum and I have just found that people have problem when WiFi is off and battery drain like is on but that's not problem here.
Any suggestion?
Thanks.

To diagnose this you would need an app that monitors what it is that is draining the battery.
Try installing "Better Battery Stats," open the app once then close it. For a few hours, use your phone like normal or in a situation you want to diagnose. Then go into Better Battery Stats and post a screenshot of "Kernel Wakelocks," "Partial Wakelocks," and "Other" here so we can take a look.
Better Battery Stats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2411941&d=1385305325
Other apps which are good to see what is draining the battery are GSam Battery Monitor and Wakelock Detector.
GSam Battery Monitor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm
Wakelock Detector: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector
Do the same with these apps as I said with Better Battery Stats and post screenshots from them.
Good luck!
Thanks for quick replay. I'm using GSam Battery Monitor for 2 weeks now and here are the images I think it could helps.
If you need something more just ask.

Those pictures look pretty alright. I'd say you aren't suffering from the Android OS bug a lot of other people are suffering from. What is your screen on time? 32% battery left after 6½ hours is quite a lot of drain, it seems as though you must have had the screen on almost the entire time. Looks as though Facebook and Google Services are the ones draining your battery. You could uninstall or deactivate sync for Facebook for a while and see. Google Play Services issued an update some day ago which is rolling out which should fix battery drain as well. You'll have to keep a lookout for that one.
Hey guys. First proper charge from around 3% too 100% and I'm getting battery drain already, I thought this issue was resolved in lollipop? Not the mention the emense heat that comes off of this device
Check out the picture and get back to me. Thanks.
Jack
Same thing is happening to me... I don't find that the drain is really so bad, as I still get pretty great battery life, but does appear that this issue is still present in lollipop. Seems pretty wide spread among Android users.
I had an iphone for about 5 months. Went back to android and the problem still persists I got 3.5 hours of screen on time yesterday. Take a look at this
Also getting battery drain, the main offender seems to be the "mobile standby" which is always around 50-65% for me.

I think this was an error in reporting in the stock firmware, I haven't had a problem with the battery, in fact it's been really good. Since updating to B132 (GRA-L09) the battery usage seems to be reported correctly.
Interesting, I'm not sure what the normal drain should be then. My HTC One had a pretty good battery life, but it seems with this phone the battery drains quite fast when I'm using Chrome and WhatsApp etc. The power saver reports Chrome uses a max of around 10% but the rest use very little %, yet it seems I'm using around 30-40% of the battery in around half an hour.
Do you think using a custom rom (when they become available) would be any different?
Not sure if a custom rom would help. Are you rooted? If so you should have a look at betterbatterystats which should show you what's using up the battery.
When I'm mostly on wifi I can get 5 hours of screen time with 32+ hours running time.
i have the same problem with the "mobile standby" batery drain
i did a clear data/cache then factory reset, and now it's ok
androyd system still drain batery pretty much
sorry for my bad english

Was going to wait for a few roms to be released before rooting, but the battery life seems so poor I think I'll do it just to find out.
I've had the same Problem with the battery drain and analysed this with the Wakelock Detektor (needs root). Cause was the "NlpWakeLock" thats part of the Google Services. Then I disable the Google Location History everything went well. They are a lot of of useres, who have the same problem. The only real solution (If you want to use the Location history) is a Xposed module for that you need a working Xposed framework.
I have now disabled Google location history, hopefully this fixes the problem for me too.

Its lolipop, i think 6.0 will fix this.
I have a bluesleep wakelock stuck on 100%. It won't allow any deep sleep, always awake. It will stop only when I turn off Bluetooth all together. Bluetooth and wifi scanning are both off. I have a watch, even turning it off won't help. Also froze Android wear apps. No change.... Maybe something to do with missing kernel binaries?
Here are some better battery stats. Thurs is obviously after a fresh reboot, makes no difference really.

Kylo R19 kernel?
UPDATE: I dirty flashed Pure Nexus rom and wiped cache and dalvik then flashed Kylo R17 kernel with the same results.
Bluesleep is the kernel telling the device not to go to sleep because a bluetooth connection is active. If it wasn't for this wakelock you could only stream bluetooth audio when your display was on for example. So I'm guessing you have a bluetooth device nearby with which it's communicating ?

No cause for concern This is just how it was meant to be: with an ongoing bluetooth connection the device wont cut off the connection when the screen goes off and hence keeps the phone awake.

And there's no other device it's connected/trying to connect to ? Without an active bluetooth connection the device should go into deepsleep when you turn of the display.

Yes, no other devices... The only way I can stop it is by turning off bluetooth on my phone.
Maybe you have bluetooth scanning on ? If so try to turn it off and see if that helps.

I'm also noticed that my phone is "awake" all the time (except for when in airplane mode). I'm using Huawei Watch with Android Wear 1.4.0.2470307.gms and still have Jawbone UP 4.12.1 installed.
I have a massive battery drain from this. Does your device have bluesleep wakelock constantly on and won't go into deep sleep? My device won't go into deep sleep or doze
i'm having a similar issue. scanning is off, but android os wakelocks are draining battery. i'm connected to moto 360 and everything is stock
Is there an official bug report filled with this issue? It ruins battery( and no doze mode(
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I'm having the same issue with the stock kernel. This is killing doze.
So I switched over from my OP3 to S7 Edge as it was supposed to be an overall upgrade. I used to get through a day of work (7:30am - 5pm) and still have ~40% battery. With the S7E I have to top the phone up before leaving work and keep it on battery saver. I changed the firmware from EE branded to unbranded and I am un rooted.
I was absolutely loving the battery life of my s7 edge until a couple of days ago when it started discharging at a ridiculous rate. I tried getting rid of a bunch of apps that I wasn't using but that had little effect.
Yesterday, I wiped the cache in the stock recovery (I'm also unrooted) and I'm back in business! I doubt I'll ever know what was going on (Android system was using 32%) but wiping cache is an easy fix.
My next step would have been a factory reset which I was planning on doing after Noughet lands officially. I'm happy to put that off as it's a bit more of a PIA for me setting up my watch and other peripherals..

I've wiped the cache in stock recovery and unfortunately it didn't help. As with you, a factory reset would be too much hassle at the moment, so I'm trying to avoid that route. It really is a nightmare to try and solve!
Is this battery life normal? I'm always on 4G with minimal gaming. Please tell. Thanks.

Those two alone will make a good impact on battery life/Android system drain and also turn off any reporting in Google settings also

2% drop, I don't use AOD, I have the sd820 btw
If you guys dont care about warranty and stuff. I would recommend going to apc8 firmware of apf2(has some security issues like being outdated and such but if those dont matter to you then apc8 or apf2 is the way to go!). Im on apf2 rooted with prometheus kernel v.1.4 and here are my stats. Light usage like netflix or browsing but the standby is great!
I have 5h 30min screen time
I'll report my screen shots later tonight to see if it's improved. It was at 100% two hours ago and now it's at 80%, so a loss of 10% an hour still seems quite high? I've just checked and Android system is still consuming 23% compared to 9% for the screen. It's frustrating how some people are effected by this and not others.
So my battery has almost died and here are my stats. Any other tips to fix this?

I recently started using a pebble but the problem has persisted since before then. Today I've sent about 10 whatsapp messages and sent about 3 snapchat. I've used the recent apps and used "closed apps" to shut them all. It's as if my phone won't go into doze.
