The Honor 8 Pro runs the feature packed EMUI system. This user interface has all sorts of hidden gems that can really improve your experience with this phone. Here are some of my favorite.
Screen Recording
The built in screen recording features saves you from having to install a third-party app. Hold the Volume up and Power button to trigger the screen recording feature.

Phone Manager
The phone manager app has many different optimizations to speed up your phone, as well as security features like virus scan and app lock.
Themes
The theme manger is easy to use while having plenty of customization options to get your phone looking exactly how you want it.
Home Screen Settings
EMUI lets you change the icon grid, screen animations, badge icons and much more.
What is your favorite feature of EMUI?
First thing to do is to disable "App suggestions".
I am totally fed up with being "suggested" what to do. I have a brain and intend to continue using it.
The whole business of looking at what we do in order to sell us more is reaching a point where the world gets divided into sheep who will do what they are told and people who still want to use their own judgement, investigate and find things by themselves. I aim to remain part of the "people" group.
Sorry about the rant but it's getting out of control.
Hii @DrGreenway
I think I saw you at Honor 8 forums
Just a question to ask
Did you own a Honor 8 and is the Pro a good upgrade??
And what is the diference between EMUI 5.0 and 5.1
Couse the things you said as best features of 5.1 are mostly present in EMUI 5.0 and Honor 8
Maybe from me to add that if you are on lock screen and swipe UP from the very bottom
you get some shortcuts ( on Honor 8 )
And it includes a default bar code scanner.. not much but I usually used to install it from play store

The enabling UI technology was Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). With WPF we could rapidly build something that looks a lot like iPhone in a very short time. I was playing the dual role of a Designer + Developer and tools like Blend and Design greatly helped in skinning the app. Below you can see a bunch of screenshots and a short video of accepting a call.

How was it built?
* Blend and Design were used for creating the skin of the app. The XAML UI was created in Blend and the graphics were developed in Design. I had made a post earlier about how the icons for the app were created in Design.
* The GlassWindow control was used for creating the window chrome.
* Although you cannot see in the screenshots above, the Drag 'n' Drop library was also used
* I missed out using the ElementFlow, but that can be easily added. I only need to find a business case for that
This example only goes to show how powerful WPF can be. With greater tool support from Blend + Design, lot can be achieved in a far lesser time. Now until I get my own iPhone, I will continue to use the WPF version
Didnt know you could get WPF on win mobile, would be nice to see it used to do something other than clone the iPhone though
iPhone is overrated. It was a fad, we dressed our pdas up for a while, but its tiring. I feel for iPhone owners who actually have to deal with it everyday.
If you look on the link you provided in your first post, you'll see a video that shows this is not running on a mobile but on a desktop. WPF is a component of Vista, and the app probably runs in an emulator of some kind (you can see a mouse cursor in the vid).

Hi, I'm a student in Queensland University of Technology at Australia. I'm developing a Sudoku game for Windows Mobile 6 Professional with WVGA resolution, I have a SE Xperia X1 but I need your help!!!
This is my second attempt in developing Windows Mobile application, last time it was a big failure, but this time I've put a lot of effort in this application in order to make it very graphical appealing, use-able, and powerful, y'know this is very hard in WinMo platform, either it will crash or it will take too much memory/processes to run it.
I've used smallest amount of custom build controls to make this happen in qSudoku, I want to make it user friendly, finger friendly, apply the concept of "a screen full of content", and graphically appealing. So far I've only tested it myself and I want to know what do you guys think
Please go to Faculty Of Geek for more information about this application (or me )
Email ([email protected]) to me if you want to provide feedback or just anything
(Download links at the bottom)
Current features:
Four levels to choose from (easy, medium, hard, insane!).
Load and save.
Multiple numbers in one square.
Clear all numbers in one square at once.
Check numbers in all square. (that's where the red 'x' appears )
Hint
Show solution
Check answer (the 'All Done!' button)
It's full screen
In this version.....
Only 6 puzzles available.
No settings available.
New Game and Load Game buttons will take few seconds to respond (which is obviously not good).
Will expire on 15 May, 2009
Has no icon and sounds :-(
In future versions.....
Will improve memory management
Will provide option to turn off full screen
Will make the application more responsive
Will support more screen resolution
Will support non-touch screen device
Will make the hint not so 'obvious' (you'll know why once you play it
Downloads:

WVGA device with .NET Compact Framework 3.5

Hello guys i just installed windows 8 preview to be able to see the progress made so far. I have a small question is it possible to edit the icon of a live tile to make it full resolution since it looks really weird like the image below

I dont thing so....i thing its down automatically
You cant do it with normal settings in Windows 8 ^^
i see oh well then thanks for the information mate
You can't but when Windows 8 hits RTM the icons will be bigger , they look a lot better
Hi, I'm searching a way for having live tiles too. I've done some kind of research in my thread, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707172
Unfortunately, none of those idea work yet
Currently applications living in the Win32 world don't have any access to the WinRT side of the system. As they don't know anything about the existence of Live Tiles they also can't feed them with data.
If that is what you meant by "Live Tile" - a tile that actually IS LIVE.
If you want to change the Icon only this might be what you're looking for: http://www.gohacking.com/2008/10/how-to-change-icon-of-exe-file.html
That solution might geht reversed whenever the .exe is overwritten during an update of the Application, some Applications (Skype for example or games) do an integrity check on launch which is likely to fail when the exe gets modified and lastly updates of applications might fail due to incremental updates and again a modified exe file. So my suggestion would be to create a backup before trying this out. Should solve your problem though (and if it still works like in XP were the first icon in the exe file is used this explains why you don't find a way in the registry, etc. to change it).
I probably explained it badly, the aim is not to have a live tile but a mere static one, making it more aesthetically coherent with WIN8 metro apps..
As somebody wrote above the Icons should be bigger in the RTM version as Microsoft is still working on parts of the UI - we'll have to see.
As for actually changing them, did you try my suggestion or didn't that lead to any new conclusions?
I can not change icon in screen
EMUI On Honor 8
For those of you getting an Honor 8, this will probably be your first experience with EMUI. EMUI is the UX that will ship on your phone, similar to Touchwiz on Samsung. There are a bunch of features in EMUI that I'm going to be going over in this thread.
Schedule Power On and Off
Scheduling a power on and off for your phone is an interesting idea that I've never thought too much about. I've seen quiet times and night modes but turning it on and off makes more sense to me. This will also save some battery power because your phone isn't syncing your data at night.

}
Motion Control
The motion gestures is something I've never found useful but more and more phones are implementing it, so someone must be using it. You'll have all of your basic motion gestures like flip to mute and all that. What's really interesting is the knuckles gestures. Somehow the scientists in China have figured out how to differentiate knocks from touches. This lets you use knocks for stuff like screenshots or screen records.
Floating Dock
The floating dock will put your navigation bar in a it a little circle menu off to the side. You've seen stuff like this before so there's not much to say about it. Features like this are usually found in custom ROMs. You might find that with all of the cool features in EMUI, you could be satisfied staying with stock.
Smart Key
Smart Key turns your fingerprint sensor into a physical button. Assign custom actions or apps to press, double press or long press. This is by far my favorite feature of EMUI.
As I'm finishing up this post, my Honor 8 has been scheduled to shut down lol. That means it's my bed time, but there are plenty of other cool things in EMUI. If you own an Honor 8, please share your favorites in the comments.
Does this phone have double tap to wake?

It does not (not that I have found)
Another Feature to mention is the ability to have your alarms come on, even though the phone is off.
While playing with the bootloader yesterday I saw you have the option to enable the device to sound if alarms are schedule.

yes.
usually not enabled by default. need to be enable in the settings under motion control
Hello all, after getting my LG G4 yesterday I have noticed the screen on my unit exhibits a yellowish tint, especially whites look too yellow for my liking. Now, because of Boot-gate I don't want to root it this early just in case ( although I have a 607 serial number so chances of that happening are significantly smaller.)
So I researched some fixes, tested some apps and came to the conclusion that https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.quickdoc.screenbalance app is the best solution if you are not rooted.
Because, unlike all other apps, it is not an overlay but rather uses the built-in accessibility service baked into android, it is much more accurate, is system wide ( so yes, the virtual buttons as well!) and is more energy efficient.
Now the problem is that functionality is pretty limited if you are not on the pro version. By any means , use ''your way'' to get the app because I love to support devs but asking 3 euros is just too much for a very simple app. Please support the developer however because without him we would not have had this amazing solution
My settings are as follows: (Please note that the screenshots are not INDICATIVE of the real thing, in real life it is much less blue.)

Before and After
Feel free to post your configuration as this is still not perfect, I would love to see them and try them out to come to that perfectly calibrated white balance
Tips and tricks: Use the LG G4's feature to pin the app, this way the app will stay even when you clear all
... ( add suggestions I will add them)
Hello Xdekker I got same problem too. Thanks for ur conclusion. I have SN 607 too and bought from Europe. Maybe our G4 production in same batch.
Then I downloaded the app, pin and block the notification. Its look much better now. I hope LG update the system to add white control in the developer option just like Nexus 5X.
Sorry for my bad English...
