.Missing keyboard - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Has anyone had this happen yet? This is happen twice in about a week timeframe where I go to respond to a message and the keyboard space opens up but there's no keyboard there . You think this is a serious issue or possibly something related to Nova launcher since I'm using that And not the stock launcher ? Otherwise the phone performance is outstanding .

Weird. I've never had that issue on messenger. I'm also not using anything stock though...
Nova launcher (paid version)
Android Messages (by Google)
Google keyboard
I did have a similar issue on Samsung internet (beta). However, In that case it simply wouldn't pull up a keyboard when I clicked in a box that I can input text in. I replaced that browser with chrome and have had no further issues.

I'm using Nova Pro and SwiftKey. Never had that happen in any app either.

When I've come out of Galaxy VR and switched the resolution back down I've had the missing keyboard issue. Changing keyboard to the Samsung and back to Swype fixed that.

I'll go and see about the browser. I do prefer chrome so I'll make sure that's a default

Tmobile had me wipe the cache and believes that will fix the keyboard and other issues

Google notifications

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. Every once in a while I get a pop up notification from Google. Opening it, it directs me to Google settings. Is it telling me I need to change something? I didn't think so. Everything seems to be working fine. More annoyingly, I can't swipe it away. It seems the only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone. Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on here?
Thanks very much for any help & here is screen shot of what I'm talking about.

See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3366469 It seems to be something to do with Nova launcher.

Thanks very much for that. Narrowing it down to something to do with Nova launcher is a start at least. I'll research further. It's still very annoying though!

Hmm I occasionally get this pop up when I say ok Google from the lock screen with ok Google always on enabled. It appears for a couple of seconds then goes away, I thought it was to say Google now is recording audio?

What apps have you added recently? Some app on your phone is applying a screen overlay. You'll need to disable or uninstall that app.

Any easy way to tell?

Not that I know of. But apps that affect screen brightness, like Lux, frequently use overlays. So if you've installed something like that it would be a good place to start.
I believe apps that appear on top, is where to play with overlay. But with 500 apps reset to default works best, and i have yet to have that problem even after using all the apps again.

Ok I installed the version currently available on samobile.. it worked!! Now if I wanted to revert to my s6 version of touchwiz I thought I could choose the option to uninstall updates under apps??
Uninstall updates isn't a button as you can see?!

I know you're looking for previous versions of the Samsung keyboard but there are far better ones available.
The best one overall is Gboard (Google keyboard). Gives shortcut straight to Google search, allows a moderate amount of customization (themes) and allows slide typing.
Swiftkey and Flesky are two other ones that are pretty close, Flesky has some serious perks in terms of screen estate and theming (you can customize the look to virtually anything you desire). Both of these are free as well.

Anybody received the customizable Google Search widget update?

Hello
I was looking for the customizable Google Search widget update when I first heard the news about it.
I have realized that I am now using much more recent version of the same. .
But I still could not get the overflow menu in the widget to customize it.
Did anyone got luck with that?
I am in the Google app beta and have it

Are you using stock launcher ?

Am i using incompatible version ?
I am not getting the overflow menu.
It seems to be tied to the main account on a phone. I just set up my partner's new S8 and the custom option appeared. Not on my S8 or G6. I don't think it's phone specific, but rather tied to an account that has it activated. Very frustrating.
