Can a new kernel fix drivers for the Mali GPU? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Just came from the Dolphin emulation website, which sheds a little light on the fact that emulation is extremely poor on the Exynos S8 (while it shines for most GC games on the Snapdragon) is due to poor implementation of the Vulkan driver on the Mali GPU.
This means that while most benchmarks show that Exynos (marginally) outperforms the SD version for GPU tasks, emulation is impossible (at useful rates) on the former.

I'm nowhere close any level of proficiency in that area that would allow me to help, but I'm curious to know if it would be possible to rewrite Vulkan drivers for the Mali GPU so as to improve emulation performance!
Thank you in advance,

Or wait a bit for new Samsung Firmware with new Changelist, it will fix a lot of problems

When the developer tells you to buy a PC instead of using an Android device that says something.

Not surprised, as it can't even run tekken on ppsspp due to DVFS and kernel throttling, if the experience is the same as with mine previous S7E, it won't be fixed.

i did a comparison between the Hermes and Kaiser for video playback, and WOW.....
both using coreplayer,
both playing the exact same music video in Xvid format

Vs.
Can't help but notice that one has cleartype on, one does not, one has phone functions on, one does not.
What other elements make this an unfair test? It's inconclusive until they both are running identical roms with the exact same settings under the exact same conditions?
Still, I own a TyTN so I shan't argue much.
I read something about the drivers for the kaiser's graphic card werent taking full advantage of the hardware acceleration.
This might be ONE reason.
Another is simply random results. Both have similar specs aside from the RAM (which has no impact on such benchmark, since the hermes wont run low on RAM for the test anyway).
The phone services and cleartype are turned on on the higher result benchmark. I'd have assumed they would LOWER the results and not boost the results, especially considering the hermes shares the CPU with the phone services.

DOOM 3 on Xperia Play: Tips for a better performance?

Hello guys,
I got the version RC2 of DOOM 3, and i tried to run it in my Xperia Play, but the game performance is a bit slow and with lag. The visuals is very ugly with low settings, and gamepad dont work. Then, i tried set the graphics to High, and put a very low resolution of 340p. The visuals were great, but the game was unplayable.
What is your experience of this game on the Xplay?
Who have any some tip to get a nice performance, share, please...

Yep. But no success. This game need be optimized for Play. The Wolfenstein, run smoother, with all effects and default resolution.
I didn't even know you can play Doom 3 on Android.

This is the Antutu score. Used the BETA motherboard yet:
Looks good but you never know how well the software will be optimized to the device. The stick has fewer inputs as opposed to the consoles. You also never know how well the WiFi work...The stick are usually a better price. I think I will hold off until a few reviews from actual owners come in. (Not just reviewers)

[Q] I9506 3DMark benchmark scores.

Greetings, I'm looking forward to buying a new phone and I'm seeing that S4 LTE gets the best scores in budget phones. Even beats normal S5. Is this true? Anyone have 3Dmark benchmark installed on their S4? This is very important to me, if anyone could help me out I'd be very grateful. I'm looking for best performing phone in games/emulation and I'm thinking of getting either LG G2 or Xperia Z2 but it seems S4 LTE beats them both and I want to know if it's true. S4 LTE has even lower clocks on GPU compared to Z2 but it performs better so I'm not trusting it very much.

Those scores were from android 4.2.2.
A lot has changed since then.
It also depends on how much the price difference is.
They are all pretty much the same in terms of specs. They use the same chipset, except for the Z2 which uses the 801 chipset.
In this case it mostly depends on how well the software is optimized for said device.

My nexus 9 is basically a cheap laptop!!

Here is my setup: Android nougat stable, exkernel with cpu clocked to 2499 and gpu at 918. Got the Taskbar app, freeform window mode in enabled, a chromecast (Though I might get a mhl cabable). Got an otg cable along with a usb hub and mouse/keyboard in the mail rn. Tv is 32" 1080p. Let me just say second screen completely blows andromium or any other cast app I've tried out of the water. There is a slight lag but it's surprisingly really low. Check out the photo I took

You just saved me from wasting my money. I just assumed it would be supported because for it not to be is the most lazy ridiculous crap I've encountered from a Google product. Now I'm disappointed
@tdct12 I highly recommend you try underclocking it(cpu). The performance is actually better for me, even in benchmarks. Try it!
