How-To UNLOCK Verizon Desire 530 Boot-Loader - HTC Desire 530 Guides, News, & Discussion

As I had anticipated the SD Card I came up with for unlocking the Desire 526 Verizon is working on the Desire 530 Verizon.
@supermaxkato has created a tutorial in the 526 section to do this. (See the last page of the thread below)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/de...oader-root-t3587118/post72408625#post72408625
Follow the Instruction for making the SD Card in the beginning ot the thread Here.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/de...oader-root-t3587118/post72408625#post72408625
Then Follow the instruction posted by Supermaxkato to unlock your desire 530. VERIZON.
When I get some free time I will Re-Write here the instructions for the 530 only.
@supermaxkato
Verizon HTC Desire 530: unlock bootloader, custom recovery, root, xposed
I'll put the tutorial here since it's related to the 526, and then eventually start a new thread in the 530 forum.
This won't include every step, just the main ones, so this assumes you've unlocked an HTC phone before.
Do I have to put the disclaimer about not blaming me if something bad happens to your phone?
You should know this already!
*All credit goes to @BigCountry907!
*Thanks to @jcase, @Chainfire, and other xda folks for making all of this magic possible.
Verizon HTC Desire 530 prepaid: unlock bootloader, custom recovery, root, xposed
UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
1) Create the SD card as described earlier in this thread (I used the exact SD card he purchased, not sure if it works with other brands)
2) Power off the 530 and insert your created SD card
3) Boot into download mode (black background) with volume down+power
4) Connect to your windows PC (I did all of this on a laptop running XP)
5) Login in to htcdev.com and follow the steps to unlock the bootloader (choose HTC Desire* just like you did with the 526)
6) Open a command line window and type: fastboot oem get_identifier_token
7) Follow the rest of the instructions on htcdev to finish unlocking the bootloader
It should now say "unlocked" instead of locked
Done.
CUSTOM RECOVERY
1) Remove the custom SD card and replace with any other one
2) Download the custom recovery created by @jcase from his non-verizon 530 root thread
3) Put it wherever fastboot.exe is on your PC
4) Open a command line window and type: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (or whatever the *.img is named)
5) Hit the phone power button as instructed on the phone to complete
6) From the 530 download mode menu (black background) choose: reboot bootloader
7) From the 530 bootloader menu (white background) choose: reboot recovery
It should open TWRP.
Done.
ROOT
1) Place the superSU.zip from @Chainfire on your sd card (make sure it's one for android 6.0)
2) Boot into TWRP recovery and install it
3) Reboot
SuperSU should now be in your app drawer
Done.
XPOSED
1) Place the xposed-v87-sdk23-arm.zip on your sd card (this version is specific to android 6.0)
2) Boot into TWRP recovery and install it
3) Reboot and install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4
Open the installer and you can now install and use xposed apks.
Done.
Finally your Verizon HTC Desire 530 can be all you want it to be!

Bigcountry. Thanks to your freaking amazing work. And everyone else who took the time to accomplish this. And the wife's add girlfriends who tolerate us lol. I have the 530 from Wal-Mart. Prepaid. I've gotten better at rooting over the past year of just reading teaching myself. So if you could please message me or post on exactly how to go about unlocking or running this off my SD. I did read everything and attempt the SD card but I believe in going to have to get a new SD card like others. Any chance when you get time to give me detailed instructions on how to do this. Like baby steps lol. So excited to see this thread. Can't imagine the work it takes so I appreciate each and everyone of y'all. I got few more questions as well. Hope you guys continue on this Verizon phone. Thanks guys!

Bootloader
i did something wrong trying to unlock my bootloader vzw 530. Now it says software status modified locked s-on. I try to reboot and it flashes some wrong build type and i cant get past bootloader/ download mode. I can get to recovery mode i just cant get into phone. Have no idea what i did or how to find a way to get my phone back to stock. I have been trying for three days. Please please help. Thanks!

Worked great tyvm

Non-prepaid?
Does this work/has anyone tried this with the non prepaid version of this phone? If it doesn't work then what's stopping it from doing so? Thanks.

I gave it a try, any advice?
So, I made an SD card from the HTC.img file, placed it into my Verizon 530 and booted into Download Mode. But using "fastboot getvar all" still shows all my original info and using "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" returns the same error as before..,
I did notice one strange thing though., Everything that Ive seen regarding the Desire 530 says that the device is an htc_a16ul but my device reports as being an htc_a16wl I am assuming this is a problem.

When i insert my special sd card and boot into download mode i still can't get an identifier token. When i try to boot into Android the system hangs at the HTC logo and i have to eventually force a power down. Any suggestions??
My system info:
Verizon HTC Desire 530 Prepay
Android 6.0.1
A16_WL

This makes me think you didn't build your sd card correctly. I would try following @BigCountry907 instructions again and be sure you are using the same sd card type he mentioned. Good luck.

I guess it could be the sd card. I'm using a PNY Prime Performance 32gb. The site says that it's rated at 85mb a sec...
Dunno how i could have did anything wrong writing the sd. I formatted and created the sd with the tools he used and it's a really simple process.
When i try to do a full system boot it does try to boot from the sd card but it seems to just hang on the white htc logo. Although oddly enough i can detect the phone using adb while it's in this state. So it's def doing something. But booting into download mode just seems to boot from the phone. IDK. I'll keep messing with it cause i can't abide a non-rooted phone.
I'll keep you guys updated...

@BigCountry907
Do I need to flash the RUU in the your 526 thread before I start with the SD card creation in @supermaxkato 's guide? I assume no but I just want to double check
---------- Post added at 03:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:20 AM ----------
Ok well now this is a problem, I burned the SD card with is supposedly rated at max. 95 MB/s and booted my phone with that in, and now it's hung up on the white HTC logo in a fashion very similar to @ericzollman
Holding the power button does nothing, and it was at almost full charge before I started. Guess I have to wait till it dies? No way to get info from ADB either, the device is detected but logcat and other commands return missing path errors. Anything I can do?
Here's the card I had:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...ts32gusdu3_32gb_ultimate_uhs_i_microsdhc.html
Sorry about the double post
EDIT: holding power and volume down rebooted me into download mode, so I guess the card I picked was ok? I'll stop for now until I can get some more info on what the heck just went down...

Can't get identifier token for htc dev site
In the guide you say to follow instructions on the htcdev site to get your bootloader unlocked, except I can't get the oem identifier token to put into htcdev and I can't turn oem unlock on, and therefore I can't unlock my phone. Am I missing something or is this tutorial not working?

[Q] Really could do with some help from those with experience... Please.

Hi Guys,
I am a noob to xda so please bear with me...
Hoping someone can help me out here.. I will try and explain in as much detail as possible and provide you with as much Info from my phone as I can.
Firstly my phones details
Motorola Atrix 4g (UK version) Second phone as busted the last one. Bought outright as a retail sale.
Orange UK
System Version: 45.31.0.MB860.Retail.en.GB
Android Version: 2.3.4 (After UK released update)
Baseband Version: N_01.100.00R
Webtop Version: WT-1.2.0.133_38
Kernel Version: 2.66.32.9 [email protected]#2
Ok so, decided to root my phone. To do so I used petesMotorolaRootTools_V1.07 found on the website psouza4.com/bionic/
This worked fine and an app installed from the App Market confirmed that the phone was Rooted and had Superuser permissions.
Next I downloaded ClockWorkMod Rom Manager from the Market Inc Premium, SetCPU, Rom Toolbox & Titanium Backup Free. I had a quick look at these apps once downloaded but didnt really do a lot,
However, when Rom Manager opened it promted me to Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery, Which I did and then selected Back up current Rom. I also did this, (bear with me it gets a little vague here as to what I remember seeing)
Now I'm sure it said something like Nandroid Backup, which I selected. It proceeded to say something along the lines of, Backing up or phone will now reboot??
Anyhow, what ever it said, it started to reboot. The Motorola Red Circle logo came up but then at the top it said reboot failed and something ilse that didnt make sense then froze. I pulled the battery and rebooted. Seemed to work fine. Maybe a touch laggy but nothing to bad.
Next did my research into what ROM I'm likely to want to try. Found a few but seemed from what I have read on various forums that they dont work well for uk phones. Then decided perhaps then flashing should be left alone and went back to PetesMotorolaTools and unrooted. before I unrooted however i removed all apps that required root access first. Possibly a mistake?
I noticed that a few preinstalled apps werent working, nothing important or anything I use but there icons were like Blue settings icons all the same.
Did a factory reset through the handset also, in an attempt to return to factory settings.. not much changed really. Also tried to update software though the Motorola website but it said I was all up to date.
I thought maybe that something went wrong so I rooted again. This time the unroot failed. I then dowloaded all the rooted apps that I had before and then unrooted. This worked. Not sure if coincedence or not but it worked and when unrooting it said unfreezing apps about 6 times, before the complete message. Then uninstalled the root apps again.
Most, not all but most of those preinstalled apps were then working ok.
I read a little bit more bout Roms and decided to have another bash. Found and downloaded a few to comp. Then I place an SD card into phone and Flashed it. then tranferred a copy to its root.
Rooted the phone in the same way as before. Downloaded all the apps again opened CWM RM, Flashed CWM Recovery again as was unsure that the time I did it before would work. Then selected back up Current ROM. Without any message this time the phone started to reboot.
It came up with the recovery screen (Android man and !) From what I have read the next step is to tap the bottom right of the screen to bring up the menu.
This did not work nor did anything else happen. After waiting about 25mins with nothing more happening I pulled the batt again.
Decided I'd boot into recovery mode manually and see if the bottom right of screen would work that way. turned off then held On and down Vol. Fastboot showed at top, Scrolled and selected Android recovery. Same Android Man and ! came up, tried tapping the bottom right of screen again.... It didnt work.
Read more on the forums where someone said that pushing up and down on the Vol buttons works. Tried this and hey presto.. a new menu appears. Shown as follows.
Android system recovery <3e>
Android system recovery utility
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
No back up options so rebooted....
Anyway thought I'd try a few times to use CWM RM to flash a rom to device. Each time it took me throught this same process.
Eventually I though what the hec just try and flash it...
So I selected the apply update from sdcard option.
Then selected the ROM I saved to SD Card.
Then the following text appears on screen in yellow.
--Install /sdcard...
finding update package...
Openeing update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation abborted
I tried this a few times to no avail. even tried downloading the roms from CWM RM with no change.
Read some more on the forums and somewhere read to rename the ROM update.zip
Did this and tried again.... No Joy!!!
Selected Fix permissions in an attempt to clean up and thats as far as I have got...
I'm at the end of my tether and dont know what to do...
Please, please, please someone help me get to the bottom of my dilemma..
Thanks for reading and any help in advance.
Just a little more info to help diagnose
CWM RM Details
Rom Manager Premium v4.8.1.3
Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0
Latest Recover;ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0
Thanks again peoples for taking the time to at least read this..
No where in there did I see "I unlocked my bootloader"
That's fine that you're rooted, but to use CWM Recovery, install ROMs, make Nandroid Backups, etc. you need to unlock your bootloader first! See the international part of the Pudding thread (since your in UK) in the dev section.
Sent from my CM7 Atrix 4G
Ah Hah! You are correct at no point did I unlock my Booty, Thank you I shall give that a go and report back...
Ok so, I have trawled the forum and many others this avo on my research quest to unlock the bootloader as advised above but have been unsucessful so far.
I used the Pudding thread as you said.
when downloading the files advised I noticed that some were downloading as unrecognised files. I still proceeded to follow instructions as written.
Some of them like the RSD Lite I managed to unzip and extract with a programme I have however the next one needed said it was Undefined File type.
Anyway I deleted those files and tried following the other method listed underneath the driver via the link at "Guide for beginners provided by..."
This was unsucessfull as the "fastboot oem unlock" command was not recognised.
Pulled the batt and rebooted into normal mode and I'm back at SQ1
Bit stuck if anyone has any ideas..
Ok, here goes...
1) Make sure you have the drivers installed on your computer. (Available in Pudding Thread)
2) Go to pudding thread, and grab the Unlock Only IHOP sbf file (assuming your not on AT&T).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
"Unlock:
Unlocker only SBFs - These small 1mb SBF files will get your phone ready to fasboot oem unlock. They are the files most people should use.
ATT ONLY - Unlocker for 1.8.3 and 4.5.91 ATT firmwares
Orange/Bell/Telestra/Latin America/International users ONLY - Download IHOP"
3) Download & install RSD Lite. (Available in Pudding Thread)
4) Put phone in RSD Protocol Mode.
a) Power off phone
b) Upon Powering ON, hold Power Button + Volume UP
5) Connect Phone to computer via USB
6) unzip the IHOP sbf file to root of your C:\, open RSD Lite program, and drag sbf file onto File Name Box. Make sure RSD Lite sees your device connected to it, and then flash away.
7) After the sbf has flashed (hopefully without any errors), reboot your phone into fastboot mode (Power Button + Volume Down; when you see fastboot, press volume up to enter fastboot mode).
8) Re-connect phone to computer if you disconnected it.
9) In the folder where your fastboot files are located (if you don't have fastboot files, go download them from sticky in General Section), press Shift + Right Click, select Open Command Window Here.
10) With phone in fastboot mode, connected to PC and command window open in fastboot file location, type:
fastboot oem unlock
*This will give you your device #
Then type:
fastboot oem unlock [insert your # here]
10) Bootloader should unlock, then type fastboot reboot to reboot the phone. Should say Unlocked on boot screen now, if all went well.
11) Install Rom Racer's Recovery or Rom Manager, and you're good to go.
Think that about cover it... if you have any problems, give details of what is happening and at what step. Also, check the Pudding thread for possible solutions, as most problems have already been solved there.
Thank you for your explanation... I will give it a go when I get back from work tomorrow...
I appreciate you taking the time to help..

A BIG THANKS!!!
Thanks so much for the advice and instructions... Unlocked beautifully... Now to find the ideal ROM....
Dont suppose there are any suggestions for International (UK) Atrix users??
Really appriciate the help..

I would recommend that you flashed TWRP 2.0 through CWM direct link. It lets you have touch screen in recovery; much easier! Then if you like CM7 you could try this or if you like the MIUI style (like me!) you would want to try this! It hasn't in-game audio yet but it's much cooler in my opinion. But Neutrino CM7 is really great!
Im not sure, maybe someone else can confirm. You should be using moto-fastboot to unlock & not regular fastboot, right?

People have had problems with TWRP.............stick with Romracers CWM, it's tried and trusted. If the touch screen in CWM gets you off, so be it, but I'd rather have a recovery that works with all ROM's, and not just some.

[Q] wont flash StockRom.zip or Find it in bootloader

I have done a lot of searching, and since i cant post on the topic in the development section because i am new to the site, i am now here.
I followed this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912&highlight=cant+use+ruu
I managed to get temp root no problems, everything seemed like it was going perfect. I got to the 2 steps at the bottom for Manual and fastboot downgrades. Neither method worked. It wont find the PD15IMG.zip in bootloader, and it will not flash StockRom.zip through fastboot gives me the error "FAILED data transfer failed to many links"
I have tried this with and without the sd card.
With sd card : it will tell me that on its own after a couple minutes
without Sd card: it hangs and wont tell me till i unplug the cable.
I cant find much help, besides people having said try without the sd card for this problem.
I cant run the stockRUU because the version has been switched to 1.00000
Im mainly doing this to try and see if a custom rom will fix the "NO SIM CARD" problem on the phone. I also cant htc devunlock because of my version.
What can i do?
Please help!
Format / use different SD card for PD15IMG.ZIP.
Verify that the name is right and you have extensions showing in Windows.
And above all - assume that you're doing something wrong. Unless you don't have an HTC Glacier, your phone is no different from other phones, and once you fill all the prerequisites - everything will work. Make sure you're on HTC phone!
Custom ROM won't fix anything. If your phone doesn't recognize SIM after factory reset - custom ROM won't do anything for it, it's most likely HW.

Thanks for your reply, I tried that after posting, I factory reset, formatted the sd card, redid every step .everything worked like butter as for the sim card, you are right, it did not fix it, was just hoping it was a firmware or software problem. Thanks again and happy holidays!

If you want to be on the safe side and go through fastboot instead make sure you did this (for the future)
1. the zip file "stockrom.zip" is in your platform-tools folder
2.make sure Usb debugging is on , fastboot is off, and don't mount sd card
3.connect your phone to ur pc and install the drivers for your phone (they should be in your sd card called HtcDrivers.exe (tell me if you need it)
4.next download this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=756000&d=1337721761 make sure to extract it extract the file from the associated with your operating system and place it in platform-tools directory.
5.command prompt, type the following command to reboot into bootloader: "adb reboot bootloader"
that will automaticly reboot you into bootloader
6.Make sure your device is recognized by typing the following command: "fastboot devices"
if your device is recognised it should return your phone serial number
7. type: "fastboot oem rebootRUU" after you type that your phone should reboot with a silver/grey HTC logo on it if that happens your golden!
8. then to actually flash the stockrom you type "fastboot flash zip StockRom.zip" a green bar at the bottom of the htc logo should appear indicating how much its done
9.Sometimes you may get an error dont worry this is very rare if it happens type "fastboot flash zip StockRom.zip" again
10.After its done type "fastboot reboot" and it should reboot into new rom!
ENJOY! (im not responsible for what you do but i've done this to my mytouch4g over 7 times so it works for me)

[Q] Screen cracked and unresponsive but display still visible. Need help getting data

Hi guys,
I recently dropped my Nexus 4 on the floor today and the screen cracked. As a result, the screen is completely unresponsive now but I am able to see its display when I press the power button. Could you guys help me/point me in the right direction regarding how to get the data I have on the phone (music, photos etc.) please.
My Nexus is unrooted/stock version. I tried connected it to my laptop via USB, but all it does it charge. I think I might have the USB debugging option enabled (as I remember enabling it before sometime ago). I'm running the latest firmware (5.0.1 I believe). Also the bootloader is locked.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
EDIT: I should note that I have a Password (PIN) for the lock screen.
I installed android sdk and tried to enter commands, but it didn't work. When I typed in 'adb devices', no serial came up (I checked sdk manager for the google usb driver, and it says it's installed). Also, when I tried typing in anything i.e. 'adb shell' it said error no devices found. I was attempting to follow a guide to set up adb for any other steps required to get my data from the internal storage. Bear in mind, I don't have much knowledge on these tools, all I'm doing is following any guides. Please can you help me how to get my photos or the contents of the sdcard.
The pin is not letting you boot into the os and that's why adb isn't working. Can you get into the bootloader? If so boot into twrp then try adb
fastboot boot twrp.img. Where twrp.img is the full file name.

Thanks for responding. I can enter the bootloader (if that's the Volume Down + power button menu). Quick google search shows that twrp is for customer recovery. Bear in mind that I haven't unlocked the bootloader or installed anything like recoveries before (it is basically a stock N4). Would I need to install it? If so, please could you direct me to a tutorial or guide me step-by-step on what to do as I don't have too many ideas on what to do to get the data from the phone.
Just to clarify: My N4 is completely stock, Bootloader is locked (says 'LOCK STATE - locked' in bootloader menu) and it is unrooted. I remember having the USB debugging option enabled the last time I was in the dev menu on the phone.

We'll you've got a problem. You'll have to unlock the bootloader to run fastboot commands and that'll completely wipe your device. And with the pin and an unresponsive screen you can't get into the os. There really isn't anything you're going to be able to do to save your files. Sorry about that.
Edit, just one more thought, are you still on 4.4.4? If so there may be a hope. Shoot, you'll need to boot into the os though. So my idea isn't going to work.

We'll you've got a problem. You'll have to unlock the bootloader to run fastboot commands and that'll completely wipe your device. And with the pin and an unresponsive screen you can't get into the os. There really isn't anything you're going to be able to do to save your files. Sorry about that.

Ah that was what I feared ... I'm running the latest firmware (5.0.1). I wouldn't really care about the phone if it weren't for a few images (should have had it backed up!).
Now I need to decide whether or not to change the screen etc. for £35 or just look in the market for a new phone. If I did buy a new screen/digitiser/frame thing, would these be suitable (where I won't need to use heat guns or glue and stuff)?
ebay (dot) co.uk/itm/LCD-Screen-Display-Touch-Digitizer-for-LG-E960-Google-Nexus-4-Frame-Replacement-/331224787829?pt=UK_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4d1e892b75

Also, if I did change it using the above, would dissembling the phone and reassembling it cause my data to be lost?
Thank you for your help
Edit: I managed to save about 80 photos which were probably in the default images folder in the SD card using AndroidLost. I'm guessing the other images which were in other folders i.e. WhatsApp Images etc. aren't recoverable using the site

Root Solution for Honor ShotX/7i

Hey everyone, think its a bit sad that we dont got our own phone section since ShotX/7i and the regular 7 doesnt share the same cpu architecture so forgive me for cluttering down but just wanted to try and help our fellow honor comrades
The files to do this is taken from the chinese huawei forum (http://club.huawei.com/thread-5761110-1-1.html) and thus I take no credit for the files, im merely making a english guide with chinese files to hopefully spur some development.
The root itself was made for Honor 7i which is the asian market version (I believe?) but ShotX is the same phone but for international market (with LTE 800Mhz band, not sure if there are any other differences) and root was performed and confirmed working by me on my ShotX with Lollipop 5.1.1/B130 firmware so no guarantes if it will work on other firmwares. Im also not responsible if you brick your phone or it catches on fire etc.
First you need to unlock your bootloader
and to do so you will first need to turn on the "allow bootloader oem unlock" so enter settings, about phone, and then press build number 10 times to activate "developer mode".
Go back one step into main settings and the open developer settings, find and enable "allow bootloader oem unlock" (if you have fingerprint or any other code activated then it will ask you for that code) and while you are in here make sure to click "enable usb debugging" aswell.
You will also need a bootloader unlock code from huaweis site by filling out the necessary information on this page http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
Product model: HUAWEI ATH-UL01 (settings->about phone->model number)
Product serial number: EGQ7Nxxxxxxxxxxx (settings->about phone->Status->Serial number)
Product IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (*#06# IMEI1 or settings->about phone->Status->IMEI1)
Product ID: xxxxxxxx (*#*#1357946#*#*)
So once youve got the code, make sure to write it down on a safe place, next you need adb toolkit. May I recommend Minimal ADB? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Now when you´ve come this far, remember that as soon as you unlock your bootloader, the phone will factory reset and you will loose any data and settings made unless you make a backup before
Insert usb data cable into pc and phone, open command prompt and be in your adb installation directory.
Start with typing "adb devices" to see if your phone is detected and make sure to check on your phone when it asks for permission that you allow your pc. I was running windows 10 x64 when I rooted my phone and I didnt need any driver but your mileage may vary if on w7 or w8. Remember to use "adb kill-server" if you experience issues when trying to connect phone with adb.
If phone is detected then you should get something like
Code:
EGQ7Nxxxxxxxxxxx device
Then all is good and you can type
adb reboot bootloader
Now to check if phone still is with us you type
fastboot devices and you should see something like
Code:
8b0dd496 fastboot
If you are still with us then type fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where the xxxx´es represent your bootloader unlock code which you should have retrieved earlier from huaweis site.
To confirm that your bootloader is unlocked, simply type fastboot oem get-bootinfo and you should see
Code:
(bootloader) Bootloader Lock State: UNLOCKED
Congrats! Now youre ready to root the phone
If you recently unlocked bootloader then you need to activate developer settings again and turn on usb debugging aswell.

https://mega.nz/#!9hQi2I7A!JX121sJ2vChMuxrx1puxf-L1rP9LSPaJW-JnqvEAzIg Root
Put the EMUI3.1 Android 5.1 ROOT补丁(不要双清不要解压.zip file somewhere on your phones memory storage where you can find it.
Unzip the 荣耀7i TWRP recovery.zip and open it up and then you press the second button which says TWRP REC and it should flash twrp. Power off phone and then press vol+ and power where you keep pressing vol+ but let go off power as soon as screen is lit and you should be in recovery in a bit. If you still got the default huawei recovery then redo the procedure (I pressed TWRP REC at first but didnt see any twrp installed so I then just pressed REC just to be disapointed again but 3rd time with TWRP REC it worked so not sure what goes on but just so you know if you also fail to get TWRP installed)
Once youre in twrp you will be greeted with chinese again but buttons are located on same spots so just compare it to a english twrp image https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWRP#/media/File:TWRP_2.7.0.0.png
Just press top left button and select the root file you should have putted on your phone earlier and flash it, when its done just hold the physical power button to reset incase you´re unsure of the reboot button and you should be good to go
Grats on your rooted phone, after some cleanup (possible with root) this phone is flying like never before
Some highly recommended root apps
Rom toolbox lite, so you can flash roms/mods without knowing your way in the chinese twrp and uninstall apps etc
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&hl=sv
Kernel adiutor, great for getting a bit more performance out of the phone by tweaking cpu and gpu speed
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=sv
And lastly the great snapdragon camera which is pretty fast and nice to use which you need to flash in twrp (or with rom toolbox)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64410821&postcount=44
Its for one+ x but it works as expected for our ShotX/7i aswell (Obvisually dont use this if youre on a regular Honor 7 device since it doesnt have snapdragon processor)
thank you very much , I'll be trying my XShot
Theres a translated twrp now for those that wants

Did you tried russian forums? 4pda or others, often they have good devs there for some devices, which are not supported here on XDA.

Good Point, I know my thread shows up first on Bing whenever I search for my phone and rooting help.
I have another XT and followed all instructions fine but no SuperSU when checking the phone. I tried flashing it twice (the one from the OP in main thread) and nothing. Am I missing a step?
I had installed fine on the first phone. this new one is 100% stock, unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP successfully but no supersu and root checker confirms no root.
Is it B140 or what? If you are missing a step, only you can check that.

Ya same. I got angry since I spent hours trying to find it so I just paid $4 and had DC-Unlocker unlock my bootloader.

If you follow this guide there should be no issue. The rootmygalaxy link should be pretty straightforward at unlocking the bootloader. The guide should be stickied in the OP.

Yes use a different browser. Not working with chrome but working with edge. Go to the same link, it will bring you to EMUI 5.0 page, towards the top click on "download" then on the following page under the search bar click on "unlock bootloader" and it will bring you to the unlocking page. Just confirmed working. Updating the guide and will make a new post for root and twrp

Unlocked the boot loader, now adb/fastboot-15 Second won't work
Hello guys!
I used the 15 Second minimal adb/fastboot package from this site to unlock the boot loader. All seemed to go well, a screen message said success or something like that. It's been over 2 weeks since I had to put the phone down and take care of some other business. Now, after turning the phone off and then back on again when I am ready when I type in "fastboot devices" in the elevated cmd window in the adb directory the only message that comes back is "waiting on the device." Or the equivalent. I have tried what I could find from searching with Google to no avail. I am pretty sure that I am using the same cord, laptop, and everything that worked when I unlocked the boot loader. So, I am at a loss.
My goal originally was to use madvane20's slim downed version of b180 just to get it working again as my almost 2 years old P10 was stolen. I have no money in my budget for a new phone until Feb. 2020. I last talked with him in a series of PM's ending around May of last year, when a reply stated he had to get back to work on the last part of it. I have since seen a post referencing that it was ready in a package that after I had successfully unlocked the boot loader, it would root and install everything. This would have made me a happy guy... but I also noticed a custom ROM is now to be had based on Android 7. In order to get my Bank App's updated version of it's Mobile App to work, I have to install Android v 7 or higher. That's the main app that needs v 7 or better that I use daily. Several times...
But, now when I power up the phone, the first message is, "Your device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted... Press the Power Key now to reboot. Or the device will automatically reboot in 5 seconds." Which it does, the first time walking me through the Set-Up process, now it just boots into Huawei's EMUI 4.1. But, I cannot get adb to find the phone to follow the remainder of the instructions in the guide, "AT&T Huawei Ascend XT H1611 Feb27, 2017 update all things Root and TWRP (guide)"
Nor, can I get into the Recovery mode using the Vol Down/Power Keys.
So, where have I gone wrong or what is my next step? Since the phone can not be found and I can not get into Recovery using the proper keys what do I need to do and how do I do it?
I want to:
Root the phone.
Install the custom ROM I mentioned.
Or, Install an upgrade, if possible, to Android v 7... But,
can not get the phone recognized to get into a Recovery mode (is that right?) to push TWRP to it as well as the other files
it needs and to do whatever the Guides tell me to do.
Specs on the phone:
Model: H1611
Build: H1611C07B180
EMUI v: 4.1
Android v: 6.0.1
Security Patch level: September 1, 2017
Baseband v: 20234
Kernal v: 3.10.49-g03b627c
Sorry for the long post, but I thought it might answer some questions that came to mind before replying back.
Thanks in advance. I'm not here often, but when I am I am always relieved to get out of some jam I have gotten myself into!

I just now found a new(er) USB cable for the phone. I also uninstalled the H1611 under Portable Devices in the Device Manager and rebooted the laptop. Where before, under Events the message was ".... needs further installation..." it now showed a successful install.
At the "adb devices" command, nothing happened, no response. I went and found the directions and explanations for the use of the top 30 commands. It told me to reboot the bootloader. A screen on the phone had me confirm the RSA command. Afterwhich the Fastoot&Recovery Mode screen with the little green Android guy with the message Phone Unlocked, FRP Unlock messages.
I went back to the elevated cmd window and at the adb directory command prompt entered "fastboot devices" and Voila! There were some letters and numbers, five or six spaces and the word "fastboot."
So, am I good to go with the rest of the steps in the guide from here? A question, about him saying to flash the Superuser zip file using TWRP. Is that suppose to already be on my SD card to flash it or can I flash it from my laptop without having to touch the phone or current USB cable? It seems stable but I am a bit gunshy and don't have much faith left in the old equipment I am having to use. A very old, refurbished HP Elitebook 8460P which is running really wonky, a not too new USB cable, the last of five I dug up and have used and finally works but is a bit loose, and Windows 10 1903 etc., which has disappeared all kinds of things I am having to run down) Can I use the "push" command to move the zip file to the SD card? And is that a fastboot function or an adb function? I seem to have read somewhere along the way to this point here that "push" is what I want to do, but powerserge1's Step 7 states to flash it using TWRP. I just want to check. And should questions from here on out be placed in his 184-page thread? I still haven't managed to read the whole thing, it seems to go off in so many other directions that I don't think I need to travel down. But, I will follow your advice.
I want to say a hearty thanks for your help. I was stuck, confused and frustrated at getting no results from Googling and reading for hours and getting nowhere it seemed. And I think I am good to go now.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Just to be clear, The SuperSU zip file is currently on my laptop in the adb directory. Not on the phone.

Okay, I somehow screwed this up I think. I was a little distracted by a friend dropping by. After telling her to give me a minute, I looked back at the phone after following Step 6:
Step 6: Confirm phone goes to FASTBOOT & RESCUE mode.
a) fastboot devices (to make sure your device is recognized)
b) fastboot boot TWRP.img (boots TWRP.img from Step 3)
c) The phone will boot into TWRP. Always select Keep Read Only from the first screen every time you go into TWRP.
Peek around a bit if you want to, then use TWRP to backup your stock recovery to external micro SD.
d) Reboot bootloader from inside TWRP to flash this custom recovery image (no adb command this time, you are rebooting to the bootloader from TWRP, you will see this option under "reboot" in TWRP).
e) fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img (now flashes TWRP recovery to the phone)
I then went to Step 7:
Step 7: After phone reboots, get into TWRP recovery repeating Step 6, a and b or hold the power button and volume up button from power-off state, then release when you see Huawei logo.
But now, the phone isn't being recognized again. And when I shut it off, hold Volume Up and Power buttons, I get a screen that asks if I want to: Reboot system now; Wipe data/factory reset; Wipe cache partition. Not the Recovery Screen with the options I got used to seeing in little green characters.
I tried the Reboot system now option and I'm back into the Huawei EMUI with everything appearing unchanged. Powered off, did the Vol Up + Power buttons and am back with the screen offering the three options I mentioned above. And the phone not being recognized after the "Devices" command.
Can you clarify my confusion? What am I doing wrong? Or not doing?
Thanks.
