I know that i have retin channel what i want to know is firmware file i dnlded from lolinet mirror link provided in forum is correct to flash?? I am talking abt fastboot files. File doesnt mention retin or reteu nor it mentions which modem its gonna flash? So bit skeptical.
I dont want jump bandwagon for rooting before i am sure that i have correct files and i can go back to stock if anything goes south. Same thing i used to do with my Xiaomi phones in past.

ROM given in OP is reteu. I know it is for TWRP, but if you want root you need to flash TWRP so this one will be fine.
If you want fastboot for any reason, there are also files on the xda for reteu.

Do you know if it wipes data?
No Data Wipe at all, just works like the normal OTA update.
I flashed that, and reflashed my kernel, then wiped dalvik and cache.
phone was up and running in 2 minutes or so, from reboot after install to working
*NOTE* if you install it, it sits on the "Installing System" step (or whatever the text is, for 2 minutes or so, so dont get worried.

Hello,
I've found a link to the supposedly OTA, but it didn't work with the same method for the 5.0.2, I mean copying to the memory of the phone and trying to update from the settings. I don't know if it is really the 5.1 OTA but feel free to give it a try. I've found it on a comment in a brasilian site: http://www.androidpit.com.br/moto-x-android-update. Goto the Confirmed Android 5.1 thread, around page 16, there is a mega link of a nadroid backup of 5.1 Brazil for twrp. Download it, extract it to the TWRP/backup folder, boot to recovery, backup your present ROM. Then restore the downloaded nandroid, wipe data, cache, and davlik cache only, reboot into system, profit. This way gpt and boot partitions remained in touched, and no need to revert to Brazilian KitKat, then to 5.0.2, then to 5.1 painful process.

Please don't! Many people bricked the device when trying to roll back from 5.X... If you install the soak test, it is better to wait for the final OTA update...
How to update
Yesterday I found out why in some cases when you place the file in the internal memory it doesn't work, you need to follow the updates sequence to make it work.
So from 4.4.4 you update to 5.0.2 (AKA .31):
Blur_Version.221.41.31.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR
Then you apply this small patch that still 5.0.2 (AKA .38):
Blur_Version.221.41.38.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR
And finally you apply the update to 5.1 (AKA .2)
Blur_Version.222.21.2.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR
Happy flashing.
Kind regards,
Johnny

Yes. All OTA's have been incremental so far, and have a pre-flash validation check to ensure your phone is on the correct level, and if your phone isn't, it wont flash.
It doesn't surprise me that this follows that pattern especially based on its size

Thanks a lot for the kind warning. After posting this comment I went through many other posts, especially the one by KidJoe. Chances are quite real that one can hard-brick his device by downgrading then upgrading through OTA again.

For those were invited to the MFN Test or Soak, Moto has their IMEI, knows what is on their phone, and will push them the appropriate update to 5.1 final, hence this file's preflash check looking for a particular 5.02. Since we know of two different 5.02 versions (one for the Brazil xt1058 and one for the XT1053), there will be at least two different 5.1 versions that Moto will push to those on the MFN test/soak list.
For the those NOT invited, as in the past Moto will likely compile and push a 4.4.4 -> 5.1 OTA zip for each carrier/model which will have a preflash check looking for the 4.4.4 for the particular carrier/model.
For those that manually applied the 5.x leaks because they were NOT invited to the MFN test/soak, Moto will NOT have their IMEI to push a special version, they will be off stock 4.4.4, and so any 5.1 push from the carrier/moto will fail to install due to the preflash check. They'll either need to revert to 4.4.4 (where GPT.BIN/Motoboot.img have been the cause of many bricks in the past when downgrading, so its expected to continue to be risky going forward), or wait for a leak of the OTA zip they need, or wait for a leak of the 5.1 SBF for their carrier/model.
That is why some suggested if you're not part of the MFN invites, you should wait on installing the 5.x leaks.

Hey guys, i'm downloading the MM ota file to xt1078 (brazilian version). Once the download is finished, i'll upload and put on this thread.
Cheers!
EDIT: The download ended. Only for knowledge purposes, the ota file is storaged on /data/data/com.motorola.cc.ota/app_download/
Link to the OTA File: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwray3U603G8UlE0a3JPQTNvMkU/view?usp=sharing
Mega Link: https://mega.nz/#!EktFAAZC!zg5_8jVagLh_NUosFbfAJlT35D9PvkRCf-v4tEmKO78
Tutorial:
1 - Download the file above and put in the root of your internal storage.
2 - Go to bootloader mode, choose recovery option. Once in recovery option, you'll see NOTHING. Don't worry, press the power button and click in Volume +. Will appear some options, choose "apply update from Sd Card" (or anything like that).
3- Your phone will reboot and you will get the 6.0 Brazilian Marshmallow
4- BE HAPPY!
PS: If there any modifications to the system folder (Root, xposed, any system app removed) won't work. You have to be on a 'clean' stock version.
Nice to know.. awaited!

For those of us using the MHA-L29C636 version, I noticed here that a new firmware has been released in the last few days: MHA-L29BC636B183
Firmware Finder has not picked this up yet, but is it because it is listed as for MHA-L29BC636 whereas all of the previous firmware for this model is listed for MHA-L29C636 without the extra 'B'??
Does anyone know what/if there is a difference and should it be available/possible to load on our phones?

Because the naming of the file is a little different so FF doesn't detect it being compatible with your phone. There's an extra B in the naming.
Tap on the three lines on top left corner in FF and click on " Tap to change your model" and type
MHA-L29BC636
Then it'll show up.

The most recent update PPWS29.116-11-13 has OTA downloaded, but failed to install (even after factory reset). All previous updates had always installed without any problem.
I have XT1926-7 "Evert" (from Amazon) with unlocked BL, but otherwise stock un-rooted, unmodified PPWS29.116-11-11.
Could unlocked BL be a reason?
The unlocked BL can't be the reason for this. Try flash the 116-11-11 FW and just boot your device without any changes. Then you will be able to install the update.

Moto OTA update s have been failing for many model s
Seems like the only solution is to reflash the current version of firmware that phone and try OTA again
Or see is new version is posted on
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto
Just download the correct software channel version.
Flash with Rsd lite or fastboot.exe

Will EVERT_RETAIL_9.0_PPWS29.116-11-11 be good for AT&T and T-mobile frequency bands?
I do not care too much about LTE though

I flashed "EVERT_RETAIL_9.0_PPWS29.116-11-11" with fastboot and then device OTA updated to PPWS29.116-11-13.
It works OK.
However, if go to System updates, I get the following:
System integrity is compromised
Android version: 9
Current version: PPWS29.116-11-13
Security patch: November 1, 2019
As your device system integrity is compromised is compromised, it is no longer eligible for software updates

So I am wondering if it might be because of (possibly) incorrect software channel? My original device software channel was and still is "retla".
Or because of the unlocked BL?
I have not made any other FW modifications nor did I root

I'm not sure.
Someone else posted same warning, that had unlocked bootloader.
It's not a normal warning.

Install Magisk and this message will disappear.
This a normal warning screen caused by a corrupted AVB due to your unlocked bootloader. Magisk will fix it by the AVB 2.0/dm-verity option.

Yet, there is no such warning with earlier FW versions, for example, PPWS29.116-11-11

Yes, there is. Everytime I flashed a new FW and Magisk wasn't installed the system showed me this warning. As soon as Magisk is installed this error will disappear. Just try it.
Since the moto g6 plus was updated to Pie you got this error.
