I'm really desperate for help and am hoping someone can help me please.
Background :
I am having issue with my Nexus 6P where I would get "no service" (network/SIM) following a factory reset of the phone which is still under warranty. Same as here https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/nexus-6p-service-message-t3539100
Following advice on forums, I successfully rooted and installed TWRP and SuperSU before trying flashing the Chroma ROM to change bands etc, but to no avail as the problem persists.
Current issue:
Something has consequently gone wrong when playing around in TWRP as installing ROMs as I seem to have stuffed up the "mount" and partition.
The phone is currently ROM-less and I can no longer factory reset nor flash any RAM as I get the error :
"Failed to mount '/vendor' (Invalid argument). "
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=97la9x&s=9
Internal memory now shows as 25566MB not 32GB.
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=23li3py&s=9
Intended outcome:
Please help me restore the settings and memory mounts to default, so I can return the phone to factory defaults with original ROM before sending off for warranty repairs

First thing is try to flash the latest vendor image for your device that matches the roms version. That should let the vendor mount so you can do stuff again.

Manually (fastboot) format your partitions and then load a (stock) image normally.

Any attempts to flash the vendor image are unsuccessful as keep getting the Mount error.

Thanks.
I'm only seeing one partition of 25GB. Can't see the missing 7GB as a separate partition
Also would appreciate if you could step me through the fastboot format process.
Cheers!!!

25 GB is normal, after formatting and the installed OS, that is all that is left. You will never have 32GB. Use fastboot from the bootloader to format your partitions. Then flash a full image using flash-all.bat.
fastboot format system
fastboot format cache
fastboot format userdata

So, I'm at the airport and had a few hours to kill. Thought I'd try the PureNexus rom. I wiped everything besides internal storage and flashed away.
Wasn't happy with it and decided to go back to my CM13 backup. Wiped all besides internal storage again, restored and noticed my lockscreen graphical password wasn't working.
I then went back into TWRP and was presented with a password prompt. I've never seen this before.
Google'd it and tried "defualt_password" or even the numbers that my graphical password would be. (123,456,789)
After a recovery reboot TWRP said "unable to mount '/vendor'". I tried to wipe all and then re-install CM13. Got stuck in a bootloop.
Nothing worked. I then rebooted into the bootloader and used fastboot format userdata, system and cache.
Also tried to format vendor but im presented with the following:
fastboot format /vendor
Formatting is not supported for filesystem with type ''.
and:
fastboot erase /vendor
erasing '/vendor'...
FAILED (remote: Permission denied!)
finished. total time: 0.023s
What can I do? I've got a spare phone with me but this is extremely frustrating.
Since the phone can boot into recovery and bootloader, I assume the phone isn't bricked. It just seems as if my vendor partition is messed up or encrypted and I have no idea on how to restore or decrypt it.
I might just have fixed it with

Worked just fine. I guess the original Vendor partition was damaged or encrypted and I had no access to it.
Doesn't it have something to do with making the backup with screen lock enabled? I was told when making backups, always disable the screen lock or something (like above) bad happens. O__O

Will take that into consideration. I'll have to re-flash CM13 again as something makes BT audio stutter when CPU is under load. Happened before and worked after flashing again.
So... I'm having this problem now. Do I understand correctly that I need to flash completely back to stock every time before recovering a backup? I'm down for trying whatever, since this spinning CM13 logo thingy isn't very useful to me.

You might not know this, but every device has its own different system partitions. The thread you were referring to is for Asus Transformer Pad. Following that might make the problem worse.
But this is ASus phone it works on lenovo a6000

In that tutorial mmcblk0p8 is being formatted because that memory location has the /data directory on Asus Transformer. But, in our device the /data can be in any other partition, and doing that might brick the device permanently
Delete the recovery log from twrp folder and flash another twrp from flashtool or rash..what version are you using? If it is indeed a corrupted partition, you can reflash your phone using qfill
Try using the Fix Permissions in TWRP recovery...
It may help.

Is the problem resolved??
I have solution
Bro don't take so much tension , thats not hardware problem its only your Recovery's reading cache error . you can simply fix this by flashing old version of recovery and from that old recovery again wipe what you want to remove but man don't touch your mount section column , after wiping data and anything else simply flash new twrp.img then simply reboot recovery . wollllaaa you got your partion cache back now again you can simply flash you favorite roms. I hope you understand what you have to do now . But please follow these steps carefully :good: .
Remember don't flash KitKat recovery over lolipop recovery otherwise you got bootloop. Old recovery means suppose if you have now twrp v 3.1 just simply flash v2.8 then after wiping things you want , then simply flash twrp v 3.1 .
If you still have any doubt you can contact me via WhatsApp - +91 9205097520 (indian no. ) or simply reply me on xda or simply mail me at - [email protected] . And at last don't forget to tell me about your device problem .
im using ASUS Zenfone 5 as my daily driver since it was came out. before everything screwed up, im using XOSP 6.3 it was stable, but recently bugging. first time i unlock bootloader with ASUS official unlocker. My history of custom rom are CM12, Ressurection Remix LP, DirtyUnicorn, Cleanstock, XOSP. long short story. im trying tanks0412's stable Ressurection Remix, follow the precise of the instruction which is wiping System, dalvik, cache, data and internal. wiping internal which leads me to this problem, this problem has been occured 1-2 times when i did it and i succesfully fix it by flashing RR LP or somehow it fixed. but this time, it wont. its been 3 days.
- it shows error 7 when flash rom, tried to remove asserts line in the rom. wont work
- TWRP shows internal storage 0 MB. tried to remount system with terminal. wont work
- tried to update TWRP, flashing via flashboot. wont work
- tried to downgrade TWRP to 2.8.7.0 with Zenfone Asist. wont work
- tried to flash CM13.1 system image with Zenfone Asist. says okay, everything fine in bootloader. reboot to recovery, says no os installed. Cant boot to system.
Device info =
ASUS Zenfone 5
- 8 GB internal storage
- 32 GB external storage
- 2 GB RAM
- ASUS T00J/F (i forgot)
- A500CG
- TWRP 3.0.M2-0

I tried that also stil facing the same errors.
Try this steps carefully :
1. Wipe cache, dalvic cache, system, data and internal storage.
2. After wiping press format data and then type "yes" .
3. After formating data, now go to install and flash the ROM you want with gapps.
4. After flashing rom and gapps now reboot system.
5. First boot will take some time.
(Note: keep in mind that after wiping cache, dalvik, system, data, internal you have to do format data (which you will see in bottom right corner of wipe section) )
Whenever I install new custom rom, i use only these steps. I never encounter these problems as i always format my data.
Try this things, hope you will use your device.

Okay.
First check weather its mounted or not.
To do this go to twrp recovery mode, select Mount and check [√] every option. After that try to flash the rom again. It seems like your system, data and cache is not mounted. See if that helps or not.

Hi all,
Yesterday I managed to root my phone all fine with TWRP and SuperSU. Then after incorrectly uninstalling the security log agent and getting a million errors I foolishly deleted the stock OS.
I have download the correct version for my phone and location but now TWRP fails to launch.
I get the follows errors when booting to the recovery.
Failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder
Unable to mount storage
Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
I have googled a millions things and am still stuck.
Interestingly tho, If i install the Indian version of the OS, it loads and roots no problems (I'm from New Zealand).
Any help greatly appreciated.

Use twrp wipe option select internal memory then format to fat32 after that again do same thing. This time choose its original format type.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply.
Iv'e tried this option, I installed the Indian OS which works with TWRP, formatted the Data drive to FAT (Fat32 isn't an option) and then back to EXT4. I then used Odin to Install the carrier firmware I want to run and the same errors occurred. Could it be a problem with the actual OS?
Edit** When I install the Carrier firmware I can't get TWRP to open, these errors occur as soon as it opens, and then it crashes and reboots

Hi hi, tried that several times. Would still like to find out what is causing the issue but have now installed Nemisis and all is working perfrctly which makes me think it's the OS as opposed to my file system, considering I have installed multiple other versions and ran TWRP no problems.
Got same problem here. Installed TWRP to flash a custom rom, TWRP can't mount /data.
Google doesn't give me any solutions
This fixed it for me:
- download stock firmware from sammobile & flash with Odin
- go into stock recovery
- wipe data and cache partitions
- flash twrp using odin
After that, TWRP was able to mount /data and function normally again
This error comes when a file system is corrupted. i have faced this error and fixed it by using the following method.
in twrp
select wipe
select the partition that is corrupted
tap on repair file system
select ext4
all done
Hope it helps this method also works for yunique(jalebi) yuphoria(lettuce)
thanks

Does this method removes or wipes the current OS? I have Lineage OS installed and as on installing the OTA update through TWRP. there is this error which states unable to mount storage. I really don't wanna format wipe my data. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
Have anyone wipe everything before proceeding new installation.?
I had this Mount issue few minutes back and luckily i found this thread..And yeah repairing the mounts did worked out for me.
Thanks to Hitler_72485.
And yes! It will format everything.
I fell into this when i was doing normal wipe of partitions to install new rom, strangely it got struck while doing format..So i removed the battery and came up with those mounting issues. which ever partition i tried to wipe, mounting those failed afterwards. Then i tried this repairing thing with EXT4 FS. now everything is fine.
I did faced problems while repairing few but i did a normal repair swipe and then selected EXT4 swipe. (Don't know exactly what i did)
Hope No one will have this problem again. unless its a diff. case..!!
See ya.!!
