Hi there
Topic says it all.. when I take the phone off the charger after it has got to 100%, it will stay awake until I start using the phone.
This might sound insignificant, but I normally charge my phone at night - and if I wake up at say 2am and it's charged I just unplug it. The next time I use the phone around 7am, the battery will be down to 93% or something. This is because the phone remains awake for this 5 hour period.
As soon as I start to actually use the phone, it will begin to sleep as normal. I know phones stay awake while on charge so it's almost like this continues when unplugged. Has anyone else noticed this or can someone test to see if theirs does the same? Basic test is:
1) Charge to 100%
2) Unplug ONLY - don't unlock the phone
3) Leave it idle for 30 mins
4) Check the battery stats
Phone is on stock NPN25.137-33
Thanks
James
I can confirm this.
When you check the battery stats, what thing consumes the battery there?

It will just say "phone idle" which is absolutely useless. I'm not rooted so trying to find a wake lock is more difficult... my guess is it would just classed as a charge wake lock even though the phone is unplugged.

Have you ever made any progress on working out what is causing it? I installed wakelock detector but nothing is jumping out at me.

I am not rooted so it is impossible for me to find the reason.

This happens when battery level is below like 30% on my HTC Evo. I am using a customized ROM (Supersense). Whenever the battery reaches 30% remaining, it doesn't drop. However, if I use the phone for a while and restart it, the battery shows only 10%. Clearly, some of the battery management program does not work properly. Is it a bug related to battery itself (hardware) or ROM (software)? Anyway to fix this?
You could try charging your phone up fully then go into recovery and delete the battery stats(Under Advanced in CWM), unplug your phone and use it until it discharges fully and shuts off. Finally, recharge the phone fully again once it has died. I believe this will calibrate the software that monitors your battery or something like that. You can find more specific instructions on the net if you want. Some people like to bump charge and everything else to try to get it perfect but I never found the need to go to that extreme.

Download "battery left" from the market and it will recalibrate your battery. Also yes, I would reset battery stats as well but battery left will actually recalibrate it. Battery stats is how long the phone has been on, what's using the most battery, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Just boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
I had this problem once.
All I did was download "Battery Left" as VICODAN said and I flashed this zip that I got from somewhere on this site but I forget where. I had to change the updater-script and the binary but either way it works on our Shift. Charge to 100% and flash this, then with Battery Left install use the phone till it dies and after that, you should be golden.
battery calibration
U can try the app battery calibration also in the market. If you're rooted.
*Since we're talking about batteries.
I wish our phones would beep or set off an alarm when charged to 100%.
I was keeping battery calibration just for that, it has that option but only worked maybe 1 out of 20 times the alarm went off.

Love the app, so when i got to sleep or I am going to calibrate, I just open the calibration app throw it on charge, it beeps I hit calibrate unplug and done. That way I don't have to open the app when It's 100% or with early morning fuzzy eyes and fingers that don't work right

I just put wp7 mango 7740 on last night. I charged my phone overnight, when I woke up it was only at 60%, I rebooted the phone and then it said 100%. I assume its showing the correct percentage now, but if I were to start charging the phone, the percentage would be incorrect unless I reboot it after charging?
should I use this guide to fix the battery status?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933751
if I dont fix it, how am I suppose to know when to charge the phone and adjust my usage so I get through the day?
Was the led indicator green when you wake up,and battery shows only 60%?

yes. then I rebooted the phone and it showed 100%. I'm getting the percentage from the battery saver in the settings menu.
That happens to me,only i got like 80,85%.I unplug phone and plug it in again on charger, and it gets 100%.Try that, maybe it helps I got 1 day max battery life...

does it go to 100% instantly? or do you have to wait like 30 minutes or something?
I let mine run down to 93%, and plugged it in for about 30 minutes, and its at 100% now and green light is on. maybe I don't have any issue with the battery then, maybe the reboot fixed it? I thought I read that all the hd2 with mango read the battery percentage incorrectly though?
It doesnt go to 100% instantly,it takes some time.Yes Mango have some issues with battery, but i dont know exactly which. As i understand,it don't let battery to fully charge, but not sure...Maybe someone will be able to explain that
One I wish for battery fix. Its the biggest wp7 problem
Hi, today I went to office, I can see the battery reading is 84% after one hour of use in the transportation. When I plug the phone to the charger it shows 100% immediately (Charge so quickly isn't it ? :laugh. It remains 100% even I reboot the phone. Did anyone meet this bug?
Have never encounterd such a thing. Are you rooted?
Sv: Incorrect reading for battery after updated to 4.2.2
Never seem it but try a factory reset. I always do one after a system update.
Skickat från min Nexus 4
It's likely nothing is wrong. After every ROM flash, the battery calibration always messes up a bit. Just use the phone normally and the calibration will fix itself after a couple charge cycles. If you want to fix it sooner, run the battery down and charge it again.

That will happen with any/all N4's at some point. More commonly the battery will lie to you, forget to update battery level during deep sleep, etc... Your phone isn't "broken".
Mines just did that today.. Was at around 38, plugged it to the laptop to transfer stuff, took it off showed 100.. reboot fixed it but now I have to recalibrate

i had the same problem with you guys..because of the TWRP... my phone charged 100%, rebooted in recovery and then i saw only 92%.. i change twrp with cmw,and everything is cool now...but i see my battery to do the following :82,80,73,74 etc...wihout heavy use.. is our battery a little wonky or i just my idea..?
you can calibrate your battery with the following app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=el
not 100% sure if it really works, but you can have a try "gonna need to be rooted'
Thx Bros! Let me try it. :good:

i tried it on my old phone and it worked. So far my N4 is still fairly calibrated.
batterystats.bin has absolutely nothing to do with the battery level your phone is showing you. Its a per charge battery history file, i.e. what you see if you go to Settings>Battery.

As far as am aware it doesn't really work? So your saying changing recovery for you helped with your battery, coz like i take it off charge and its 100% then it jumps down to 97% after a few minutes and am not even doing anything.. and i just got this phone this week. Am tempted to send it back, i don't know what to do?

That is because you left the phone plugged in for so long that it hits 100%, then it starts discharging to prevent overcharge.. so it drops to 95%, then charges again. You took it off at 97% (yes, it might still have shown 100% for a little while so you don't go and plug it in again).

So how do i charge it so it doesn't drop, i am getting severe battery drain, i take it off at 100% after checking instagram, twitter and chrome for 10 mins its dropped to 70%.. matr1x kernel with CM10.1..? thanks!
Hey Guys,
this morning I woke up to a dead phone again. Which was odd, because i charged it to 100% a couple of hours before I went to sleep.
When I turned it on and plugged it into the charger I immediately went into the battery usage log and took these screenshots.
Now, I heard of problems with the N4, the battery not being the best and all, but is it normal for the phone to discharge in that time by just lying around?
Also, when I plugged it in, the displayed battery level climbed somewhat fast. It had 1% when I plugged it in and 10% a minute after that. While I write this, it's at 20% already.
Is this anything out of the ordinary or am I just imagining it?

Have you installed any new apps lately?
I'm betting you have a wakelock that is preventing your phone from entering deep sleep.
Download Better Battery Stats and see if it's wakelock causing it

Let's see... I installed UCCW (not used yet), Light Manager (changed LED settings slightly) and Fast Reboot.
Could the Light Manager be the problem? I'll go ahead and check those battery stats anyway...
EDIT: Oh, I also recently set up face unlock (stock feature) Should not be a problem though, since it's not an additional app, right?
So, after running on battery for a while I took these. Can you make any sense of it?
EDIT: Wanted to check the stats again after I had on battery for the night and it was dead again. Unfortunately the stats seem to be deleted when the phone restarts (or maybe when it's plugged in).
Subject of this thread is listed as a major kernel wake lock at times for me. Anyone know exactly what that is?

I just started getting it since updating to 6.0.1 PN. I switched to AK Synapse and it drastically reduced it, but it is still there. Only info I can find is much older phones. I am using an LED manager...wonder if that could be it. May freeze it this week and see.

I believe that wakelock is from charging. I don't know why but the device doesn't seem to register as deep sleep with better battery stats when fully charged and then idle but still plugged in. Likely an issue with the program and not the phone.
However if you want to test this simply charge your phone over night. Once it hits 100% it will stop charging at some point and go into sleep mode. The device is still plugged in but won't charge anymore. Device will use power, mine is usually around 95 or 93% when I fire it up and use a little juice in the morning. During this time the device uses battery quickly until it drops to 89% or so then normal discharge rate. This is normal of most android devices I've had and most everyone here is aware of this:
http://phandroid.com/2010/12/25/you...is-lying-to-you-and-its-not-such-a-bad-thing/
Getting back to the wakelock issue, f you check better battery stats this wakelock shows up under the above condition. You'll notice the time on this wakelock is usually the sum of the device on but screen off time and your screen on usage or pretty close to it.
Now charge your device to full while waiting for it (as in not going to leave it for 4+ hours on the charger after it is full). Once it stops charging at 100% pull the device. Use as normally.
Now the device is fully charged. Really this time and not just the UI telling you it's full. When you use it throughout your day and then check better battery stats you'll notice the wakelock is no longer there or nearly so depending on how fast you got the device off the charger after it was full.
End result is this seems like a reporting issue with better battery stats or the device not fully going into deep sleep while being plugged in. I would tend to lean on a reporting issue as discharge time seems about normal at 1% or so per hour while idle and that tends to hold true to my regular doze discharge.
TLDR:
This seems more like a reporting issue than actual wakelock. Any significant battery drain when fully charged can be explained by the link above and testing as I have explained in the post.

The only thing is this wakelock doesn't start until after I unplug it and leave for work. It grows during the day..so is it faulty reporting? Something is using my phone when idle for about 2 hours a day with screen and sync off at 384 Mhz and that wakelock usually shows at about an hour and 10 minutes or so. I have also done as you said and after it dropped to 97% charged it back up and pulled it off immediately..same wakelock and similar time. Also this wakelock was not there with 6.0.0. So Google changed something with 6.0.1 that brought this to life for me. Also interestingly, this wakelock was at about 4-6 hours with stock kernel. I changed to AK kernel and that is what made it drop to about an hour and doubled my standby time.
OK, I froze Light Manager with TB and this wakelock went away. This was the only new thing I added to 6.0.1 to get the battery fully charged light to not change until 100%. Stock changes it at 90% for some stupid reason. So if anyone is using an LED manager, try removing it for a day and see if that makes this wakelock go away.
so here is the source. Are you guys all using the stock charger that came with the device? Only reason I ask is because I didn't start seeing this until I started using a samsung charger with a micro to c adapter.... I think
Reported at 93% it's my highest wakelock. Stock charger and no LED manager installed. Other causes or fixes?
I too have this at the top of my wakelocks. Did anyone else find a solution? I don't have any led managers
