play store uncertified - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Does anyone else see "uncertified" in the play store settings at the bottom

Same here

If your phone is rooted and/or you unlocked your bootloader, that will be the case.
Some apps will no longer run for you, ex: Netflix.

Go to settings, about phone, status and see the last entry, is it "Official"?
Also, go to download mode (Power down, bixby and power key) and see if Knox status is 0x1 or 0x0 (you can alternatively use a Knox check app from Play Store).

Device Status = Official
Knox Status = 0x0

That means your device is completely stock and not modified.
The Playstore should not be certified.
EDIT: Try this:
Go to the Playstore icon, long tap it and click info.
Force Stop the Playstore, click storage, and delete data.
Go back, DISABLE the Playstore application, and enable it again.
See if the status changes after launching it.

From what I read, Play Store can also be uncertified if you have unlicensed apps. In this case I think a couple of my Team Black Out apps may be causing the status change since they didn't come from Play Store.

But same. Please help me to solve it.
p.s. i did not open new thread i searched here and posted here. sorry if i am posting wrong.

I was having issues with netflix as it was avaiable in playstore ,but the apk didnot work too.
At google play store about menu there was device not certified so i knew this was the main reason behind all this.
Fix:
1. Goto developers option and turn off OEM unlock .
2. Restart
3. Disable Google Playstore and return to stock app.
4. Clear cache and data
5. Enable it
6. Happy Streaming. ?

You can download the Netflix.apk from the help section on Netflix.com . I just searched a bit about' can't download from playstore' and found it there?
No problems with LOS 14.1 rooted

Can someone plrease point me in the right direction to reinstall? Searched on here and Google but no luck.

Dinjin, managed to install that but no reappearance of the icon nor automatic launching of Play from in-app buttons in Google apps.
The only change is that I can adjust , within settings, a new app called Google Play Services. Is this what Play normally show as in the settings?

Hi, sambaselect...
You don't specify if you're rooted, have an unlocked bootloader... or if you're running unrooted factory stock.
There is one thing you could try... Boot your Nexus 7 into safe mode - LONG PRESS the SHUTDOWN TABLET option in the POWERDOWN menu. (or the REBOOT option if you're running a custom ROM that supports an extended POWERDOWN menu).
You will be given the option to reboot the tablet with all user installed apps (ie, from PlayStore) temporarily suspended... and just the core Android apps (Gmail, Maps, etc).. and hopefully PlayStore will be available in the app drawer. If it is, 'drag' a shortcut to one of the home screens and reboot.
Sometimes, if you have a lot of apps installed, it's easy to 'lose' an app in the forest of of icons in the app drawer - you can't 'see the wood for the trees', to use a phrase.
Safe Mode is a good way of quickly seeing those apps installed to the folder /system/app and what might be missing.
Hope this helps....
Rgrds,
Ged.
PS., if you are rooted, you can use a rooted file manager like X-Plore File Manager (http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore&hl=en) to check the contents of /system/app... you need to be looking for something called PHONESKY.APK - which is the PlayStore app.

[HOW TO] Disable Google Apps [and any other app] without Root in MIUI8

Hi All,
Since in MIUI 8 there is no way to disable the installed apps, here is the trick to disable Google Apps and other insalled apps for the devices without root access.
Things needed:
1. QuickShortcutMaker [Playstore link]
2. Phone with MIUI8 installed.
Stpes:
1. Download and open the QuickShortcutMaker app
2. In the search box type "Installed" and hit search.
3. Select the highlighted ($ManageApplicationsActivity)option and tap "Create".
4. A settings icon will be created on the home screen.
5. Tap the icon and select the app which you want to disable (for eg. Hangouts).
6. Tap Disable (it may ask to uninstall the updates, just uninstall the update and disable the app).
P.S. If you are using Nova Launcher, then you can create the shortcut of the activity by using the widget feature.
Edit: You cannot disable the MIUI apps by this method.
Here is the video Thanks @TheDj408
Nice tut ! Will help a lot of persons
You can directly go into settings and disable it. Then why do you need to make a short cut?

Something is wrong with your phone
I don't know about RN3 if but disabling either Google/MIUI apps in latest MIUI Global Stable results in a bootloop. And if you have not unlocked the bootloader it can be a big hassle as recently the EDL mode has also been locked. Learned this the hard way when my Redmi 3s got stuck in a bootloop necessitating a visit to service center. The Deep Flash cable method is only other way.
I somehow disabled the system's dialer from regular setting. Circuitous but I go there. This was where the quickshortcut took me.
Using quckshortcutmaker would be easier, can be quite a powerful app.

Since when the EDL mode has been locked for RN3? AFAIK it was for Mi5 and others but not RN3.
That is what I had mentioned in the beginning itself. And Xiaomi forums are full of contradictory/outdated info in this regard.
Stupid question:
Why can't we just disable them through Google Play help section, as explained on en.miui.com/thread-490604-1-1.html?
This way we don't need to install anything...
Doesn't work. Doesn't even create the shortcut as it's supposed to.
hey man can I share it to forums?

MicroG/Tingle Lineage OS installed; no push notifications but the errors for GPS gone

I have the MicroG apps, as well as tingle on my Moto G4 Play.
For apps that require Google Play Services (Protonmail, Nextdoor, etc), the "missing Google Play Services" errors are gone, but I still don't receive push notifications. Nextdoor app simply crashes with the error "Nextdoor has stopped - Open app again or Mute until device restarts"
This thread regarding Unifiedlp is similar to what I see occurring in Microg: https://github.com/ale5000-git/tingle/issues/23
The dev states, "This usually happen when you install the app as user app, on Android 7+ it should be installed as system app" - can any one point me to info on how to do that?
This is my first time installing a new OS to a phone.

I already installed microg & tingle on my device; I can uninstall the microg apps to use this, but how do I uninstall tingle (I don;t see any presence for it)?
Will this installer simply overwrite/ignore anything that already exists?
I think there may simply be a setting I'm overlooking, perhaps.. like, unifiedlp is all unticked in the self-check, but the app shows under settings, so it exists and is installed.
Not sure what else to check

Tingle isn't a thing that can be installed, it simply patch a file on the device.
It is needed for microG so if you use it, I suggest to NOT undo the patch.

Yes, the installer will simply overwrite anything that already exists (except if you have already installed microG on the /system with custom filenames but it is unlikely).
Thanks to the Signal messaging app, I clued in on what I was doing wrong.
If anyone else researching this issue stumbles across this, here's what fixed it:
1) Update the affected app, if updates are available
2) microG Settings -> Google Cloud Messaging: Enable, not sure if I needed Google device registration, but I enabled it, too; as well as Google SafetyNet
Today I received my first notification from one of the apps I was struggling with. Nothing for Protonmail yet, though.

SafetyNet isn't needed for most apps.
If you use Push notifications you must enable Google device registration and Google Cloud Messaging.
Reinstall all the apps installed before microG (it is needed to get the permissions); also in case an app don't have working push notification you must also delete its app data.

Mi App security scan.

Hi, I had to reset my phone recently due to an issue but now my apps aren't being scanned before installing from google playstore. I have checked the options is on in security settings in security scan to scan apps before installing.
Before the reset. When i donloaded apps from playstore, it was scanned then went to the package installer to install and prompted me to open. Now this doesn't happen? It just installed without scan and no package installer screen either.
Any ideas why? or how I get it to scan the apps again when i download new ones?

I never understood what these optimizations actually do.
Okay so before i was about to enable the developer option. I tried again and for some reason it started working again....If you leave it alone after a few days later, a new option to scan play store apps or not appears in the settings for package installer and this is where you can turn it on and off.
I also noticed this option isnt available for a few days when you reset your phone.

Memory leak ?

After working an hour or so, the android tv becomes sluggish or even frozen.
If I then use the remote to switch off, then it will no longer restart and the only solution is to remove and reinsert the power plug. Then everything is normal again.
Sometimes it works a few days without problems.
Cleaning cache and restarting apps does not help.
Not sure but I suspect only internet browsers cause it, not apps like HBO or Youtube, though they also become sluggish. I tried many browsers, and none made the problem disappear (some sometimes caused videos to severely blink)
Device is Thomson 43UE6400 made by TCL V8-R851T02, now v645 but tested many previous firmware versions.
Any help? Thanks-
You need to look at ram usage. If it's topped off, look at individual apps to find the culprit.
In Android I use Running Services in Developer options.
Thanks . My developer menu doesnt show such option, so I am looking for a memory monitoring app.
I will inform here in case i solve this.
If you can run the app DevChek, it does.
You need to be able to see ram usage, it's an important tool...

You have to remove system app which you dont use for example google music
How to do it?
Download kingo root https://root-apk.kingoapp.com/kingoroot-download.htm
install it, open it connect wired/wireless mouse, press get root, wait for it to get root, if it is stuck at 90%, press back and an error will appear, close the app, delete kingo root from settings app section. turn off and turn on again you will see superuser app open find app section then select system apps and select one of them which you dont use then press delete.

A trojan preloader wouldn't do anything at first...
Loading unknown firmware is high risk.
This one is already attempting to exploit known vulnerabilities to achieve root, not a good start.
