Hey I just got a T Mobile V20. Is it possible to downgrade to Marsh from Nougat? Reason is I'm looking to have Xposed.
Any responses are greatly appreciated

I see, but is it at all possible to get Marshmallow on a V20? I want to have Xposed. Had it on my G5 and now I feel lost without it lol.

You can't cause Marshmallow never existed for this phone. Since switching my G5 I feel the same way. Hate not having xposed but in reality xposed is going to be dead or done at some point. With a few tweaks here and there you miss less of xposed.
Nova Launcher has a few good settings in the absence of Xposed

You might be able to if you can make ROMs. Good luck talking a dev into doing it. They tend to look forward, not back.

U need to downgrade back to 10o and contact att for the q update. When you have the q update installed use the manual root method for 10o from autoprime. Skip adb step 5. Once rooted take the kitkat update and root will stick.
Thanks for the reply but that sounds like too much work. I'll just wait for an easier method. Thank you

Well thats good, atleast LG didnt do what Samsung did and create e-fuses that prevent you from downgrading firmware....yet another reason why I no longer have/ever will have a Samsung phone again.

even the s3 wasnt all that great.my wife got one i touched it for about 10min. instantly got rid of it. nothing spectacular.
I rooted mine on 4.2 via kingoapp.com. Root stayed with the 4.4.2 update but if it didn't I was going back to Kingo to root again. I've rooted 4 different phones with it, the last being a T-Mobile Nexus 5 with KitKat and it's always worked fast and easy. Some people bad mouth it but it works for me.
Just received a new 6P today. It is asking me if I want to update to 6.01. have read some bad reports for this update. Should I skip it for now?
read bad reports where?
Noooo!!! 6.0.1 fixes a lot of bugs in 6.0

I updated mine and everything seems fine...Howevber I've only had my phone for 11 days so I can't really tell you if the phone is running better or not....but I think it runs great!!
My signal strength dropped and that LTE issue is annoying AF
You could make a full backup of 6.0 then update to 6.0.1 and see how it goes. I for one am still on 6.0 because I am affected by the LTE issue.
Go for the update. If you notice any of the problems downgrade. Its quite strange but not all users are effected.
None of this issues, but I'm spinning a custom rom...

What rom are you using? im considering flashing a custom rom.
I'm having no issues with 6.0.1 at all. It depends on your personal usage and you should try it yourself. With a backup there is no problem to return to 6.0 if you should spot issues. Personally I would definitely update, just because of the security updates...

I think this is accounting for my increased battery between 6.0.0 and 6.0.1

If I update, do I need to be rooted to go back if I want to return to 6.0?

I believe you just need your bootloader unlocked, and you can flash the original system package and be back to 6.0.

You don't need to be rooted, unlock the bootloader and create a backup using TWRP. The tutorial for this can be found in the general section of the Nexus6P forum .

I'm new/never done an unlock. Does only unlocking (not rooting) affect Android Pay?
Does unlocking burn the 6P "fuse"?

Android Pay is not affected by unlocking the bootloader (or using systemless root). But unlocking will cause your phone to be wiped, so you should save important data manually.
The QFuse is not affected by unlocking the bootloader either, but it is popped by default during the fabrication process. There once was a thread about this somewhere here.
Regards,
I'm not a developer but would love to be able to install a 6.0.1 rom onto my S8. Maybe a custom rom could be made, or is there a way of downgrading the firmware?
Maybe I'm being backwards but I love Xposed so much I have given my S8+ to my partner until I can get Xposed working on it. Don't know how much longer I can cope with the s7e
Many thanks in advance
That's not possible. Well it might be possible but it's gonna take a lot. Samsung maybe released Nougat sources for the s8.Your best bet is to hope xposed comes to Nougat. I am also a S8 user and wishing I got xposed with all my favourite mods working.

Would it not be possible to take an s7 marshmallow build, and drop it into an s8 rom, basically replacing everything except the camera (there is a port of this already) and the kernel.
EDIT: we'd want to dl a tool to change the dpi(plenty on the play store).
Maybe if you could get aosp on the s8 and build android 6 for it, but it'll be a while before aosp is available, by then xposed will be available anyway.

amplify and a couple of others.
Marshmallow and lollipop were both horrible! No matter what modules were used. I don't miss using xposed one bit the newer android is taking care of a lot of the problems that xposed was needed for on those versions of android
Is there still a search going for another root method ? I'm pretty sure it's dead.
The S7 has already been rooted on 6.0.1 and 7.0
Are you talking about something specific?

I think he/she means a more optimal method of root, as the current root method isn't very good for a daily driver, at least imo.

runs pretty well for me.
no lag... decent battery.
only time i notice a lag is right after a reboot, or oddly enough, im updating from play store.
otherwise with the right tweaks runs as if it were stock

I hate the Oreo update. I'm on Telus in Canada with Snapdragon and I was wondering if I would be able to downgrade back to nougat G950WVLU2AQK7 with Odin safely without a brick.

Hey buddy, do you mind telling me what do you hate about the update?
Is it buggy?
I have a friend that wanted to update to Oreo on a Telus s8 but I told him about your post and he hesitated.
But, I wish you good luck finding a way to downgrade.

Appreciate your reply
How much worse is the battery life? Like what was the previous SOT (nougat) and the new SOT (oreo)
No mods and u didn't root right? No package disabled or anything?
I heard performance improved on oreo compared to nougat, can you verify that for us?
Thanks bro.
i also updated to 8.0 on SM-G950W Koodo how do i go back to 7.0 so can root my phone
