Hello all, I haven't seen anyone else have this problem as yet, maybe my S7 Edge just hates me?
As stated, I'm using S7 Edge G935f with Android N (G935FXXU1DQC4)
Just last week I noticed that when I take a photo using the stock camera app, it'll take fine but when I tap on the thumbnail in the bottom right of the screen, which shows the correct photo last taken, it opens with the last video I took, I've tried this numerous times & it still does it?
When I go into the gallery, the photo is there in the "camera" folder.
Really don't understand what's going on?
Just to update, I've removed the video I last took from the gallery & took another photo, again, tap the thumbnail & it shows the last but one video I took??? so, it appears it'll only show videos instead of the last photo taken, very odd
Did you try cleaning the cache on the camera app. there maybe a settong that has not been properly optimized after the last update. Also check the camera settings in case something is wrong.
Hi Cosmic Blue, yep, just cleaned cache & data & still the same, it's very odd because it defaults to showing the last video recorded & not last photo,
It's got me baffled, it wasn't doing it until the last week or so?????

Under some conditions, the LG camera app will take a picture, but not actually save it, if you exit the app too quickly after taking the picture.
If you take a picture using the flash in either Simple or Auto mode, and exit the Camera app (hitting Back) before the thumbnail in the lower-right corner updates to show the picture you just took, then the picture will not actually be saved at all.
I noticed this issue a few days ago, and was able to confirm it last night. With help from a user on another forum, we helped narrow down the conditions where this happens. I have Verizon, he has Sprint, we both have Camera app version 4.52.34.4. I reproduced the problem even if saving to the phone's internal memory, rather than my SD card.
If using Auto mode, for instance, and the flash is not used, then you immediately try to exit, the app will pause, giving a "Saving" message. And the picture will still be saved. But if the flash does fire, then it will let you exit the app immediately, and the picture will not be saved, if you exit before the gallery thumbnail updates. Simple mode will also let you exit without actually saving, if the flash fires.
In Manual mode, this apparent bug does not seem to apply. It saves correctly whether the flash fires or not, even if you immediately try to exit.
This is the thread I made exploring this over on AC:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/561112-picture-not-saving-when-exiting-camera-app-immediately-after-taking-picture.html
Something to be aware of, as it could cause a lost picture, especially if taking it quickly then going back to something else.
I actually noticed this myself and thought I was going crazy. Twice I've taken a picture and then been unable to find it later and both times I know I took it because they had the flash go off.

So, I have just upgraded myself from G3 to this Beast phone (love it)
Native Galaxy Gallery App there is a Story Mode/ selection that puts together all the pictures you have then in a given day or location and adds background music & some effects but, in doing so it cuts the pictures so you end up with half the face or picture to see.
Are there any settings the I need to change to make the pictures show in full or is there any fix for this.
I tried searching the forums but found nothing. In case I was wrong please direct me to the correct post
I'm finding that I have the same results and can't find any settings to change the way it seems to zoom in on each photo. Really nice idea but poor execution...

No one else seems to have this issue or care for this feature
or they are too busy rooting/ unlocking the SD version of the phone
Can't say about others, but in my case: 1. easy enough to do it manually just the way I want it 2. it almost never works properly, besides cutting off the frame. Case in point, my phone created album called "at the beach", after we went to the beach. Well, most of the pictures in this album are not from anywhere near the beach and since I have location embedded in every picture and phone already correctly identified I was at the beach including particular field, not sure why it added pictures taken at home and many other locations. Bottom line: useless function personally I don't care about.
So I posted this over on Reddit, but then realised that here is probably a better place for more tech users.
I needed to root my OP5 and went through the process.
Now after I've got everything up and running, all my apps installed, and Backups restored - I've noticed something very bad and annoying.
If I use the stock app to take a photo it will take the picture and show it in the gallery preview. But as soon as I try to view that photo using the gallery preview shortcut, or the gallery app, the photo instantly turns completely green.
All other apps take photos fine.
Using stock app Photos work on:
Depth Mode
Normal Mode with HDR Active
Photos are fully green with:
HDR Off
HDR Auto
HQ Mode
Anyone else experienced this?
I really dont want to have to wipe again because it takes over an hour to set up all my accounts and 2 factor auth stuffs...
Just after I wrote this someone on reddit said they had something similar with OP3 - They had to re-flash because of a corrupted build.prop. I rooted to change a bunch of stuff, including editing the build.prop.
I did a little digging and found that if you change the permissions of build.prop then it works.
Changed them to:
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Other - read
Will leave this thread as a reference to others in case anyone else comes across this issue.
... whenever I try to open a freshly taken picture from within the camera app...
Before I start: the people over at reddit couldn't help me and it's been a couple of weeks since I asked for help there. I hope you don't mind me posting the exact same post from there.
I can open the gallery app just fine though but I am unable to delete photos with it. I wiped my phone half a dozen times already and this always happens after using the phone for a while. Tried safe mode and it still didn't work. What is happening?
When I use Open Camera as my Camera and QuickPic as gallery everything works just fine. I even can delete the photos I've taken within QuickPic.
This behavior started just recently, after I did a software update I guess... Bought The phone in November
Phone: Galaxy S8, SM-G950FD, UNROOTED
Software version: Nougat, Phone says, I'm on the latest version. When I hit software update this is what I get:
G950FXXU1AQL5 / G950FOXM1AQL5 / G950FXXU1AQL5
Gallery version: 5.3.05.301
Camera version: 7.1.10
ALMOST FORGOT: Instead of the most recent picture thumbnail next to the shutter button this appears: https://imgur.com/ZuXco4x
Edit: lol I can't even change my wallpaper because of this stupid Gallery App...
Edit 2: Google Play Music is able to play my local sd card files again - let's see how long that lasts...
Edit 3: When launching the camera from lockscreen I can access the gallery just fine... strange things are happening here :/
Hi,
When I launch the camera app, on the thumbnail is showed the last picture taken with the phone, this include each pics in the gallery (from download, whatsapp etc.). I've never seen this behavior on any other phone. This is very annoyng and senseless!:silly:
There is some fix for this? (also with root)
I hate this
