Front facing camera lag - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
My front camera is really really slow, it takes about 2 secs for each shot. It's significantly slower than the rear camera. I have tried to tweak with face options and that didn't help, the only thing helps is to enable face stickers then it's super fast. Is anyone experiencing this issue?
Thanks

Lag
My front camera has lag every time I use it in low light places like my bedroom or at nigth.

Exposure compensation lag

Hi all,
Automatic correction of exposure is slow and in stages.
example if you record a video of the sky and ground, we see that AutoCorrect is slow.
Do you think this is software? or hardware?
Thank you
It's annoying and let's the camera down. I've also noticed pixels are block.
It'll be software based due to compression and refresh rates

I keep getting blurred pictures, it looks fine on the screen, then it focuses in, still looks good and just as it takes the photo it does something weird and the picture comes out blurry. I hate this! It looks really amazing and then just before it takes the picture it blurs it!
Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, I experience the same problem sometimes, but it's with a cause.
This is probably because you don't hold the camera still enough when you shoot the picture. It is absolutely critical to keep it super steady, because the shutter speed isn't incredibly fast, hence more exposure, and thus more susceptible to motion blur.
Do you think it's the lens or the software?

Maybe both haha..
I found that lowering the ISO to 100 made the pictures look much better..
It still needs sorting though, the light to dark exposure sensor is plain dumb.

It's either the camera module itself, or the software, or both.

Camera Delay Taking Photos.

Anybody else getting this. It's about a 2 second gap. I'm thinking it's only relatively low light but it's annoying and misses photos.
All camera apps seem to have the same delay between pressing the shutter and actually taking the photo so it has to be hardware.

hmm that's weird, mine only takes 0.5 secs even when it requires focusing. If I had focused before I pressed the shutter button, it takes the photo almost instantly.
If you have hdr on it has additional processing...if you have IA intelligent autofocus it had a delay to focus when you click shoot. If you just use manual focus and no IA it will fire as expected.

Try to tap to focus on anyhting you want to focus,it will be faster.

As the others said, be sure to tap to focus first.
Also, you can hold down the shutter button to force a focus and then let go to instantly take the shot. It locks the focus.
Mine does the same in low light situations. If tap to focus it still takes the same amount of time all together as I have to wait for it to focus still when I tap. And when I pan around its really slow. In normal or bright lighting I have no issue.
I think asia cnet's camera comparison just solved this.
They think there's post processing going on under certain low light conditions.
I have'nt checked being I'm still reading the article. If the shutter speed is stripped from the EXIF info we can be almost certain that's our delay.

Autofocus problem

Greetings!
Before I think about opening and exposing the guts of my beloved Note 3 I had a question. The problem I'm having as of late is with my autofocus. When I open up the camera app I feel the camera vibrate as its focusing. Sometimes it will focus in on what I'm looking at, sometimes it doesn't.The autofocus will vibrate for long periods of time sometimes with no luck and will just be blurry. I'm thinking I could just replace the camera but what I need to find out is if it's the camera or does something else control the autofocus? I've also tried another camera app camera fv-5 and the problem with the autofocus is still present. Many Thanks
I had a similar problem. My camera looked like crappie blurry fuzzy, not like before 4.4.2 so I tolerated it until battery life was a disaster then I found xda and rooted and instslled jasmine rom and that fixed my camera and battery. Now the camera is s5 camera big difference in quality battery is great as well. I double checked my camera by installing a different rom and wow it looked so bad I could not see anything but blur so I went back to jasmine the newest version.

Hello,
I've installed the Lenovo Camera.apk and it works great.
With the samsung camera, maybe try to turn on the flash, It did resolve my issue with the autofocus.

I noticed that yesterday...and I think it was due to the fact that Beauty mode was on by default.
I dont think its that . it helps it but it still has the lag on snapchat and slightly on the normal camera still. but sometimes its fine i wonder whats triggering it

snapdragon
when i move the camera. its fine to shoot and even when you actually start to record it goes really smooth like it should. but otherwise moving the camerais lag if i took a picture of myself it would be all blurry its that laggy.

Yes i just test it on my Exynos version and it lags a lil. I even compared it to my note 3 and the note 3 was faster.
Wideselfie seems way faster for some reason, which makes me think its a software problem.

Even using any filter effect makes it way smoother. I think the problem is because of the face detect (the yellow circle).
I was like damnnn my skin looks nice... then I realized it was the selfie slider set at 4 rofl. But yeah no lag here. Just tested.
Front facing camera does lag when moving the phone but no lag at all when applying effects. Even if selfie mode detection is off camera still lags.
I have this problem too. Put the selfie to 0 and it still has this weird lag.
So nobody has a cure for this yet? I noticed you can fix the lag if you put it on wide selfie mode, but thats obviously not what i want it to do. And it still doesnt help me on apps like snapchat. obviously some stupid processing doing it
Try accelerator and reboot your phone. Mine was lag too. I did it and it's work.

Any tips for better photos?

I get some distortion or blur if there's any movement when I take a picture. Im not talking about anything high speed, just my dog or my 2 year old. If she moves her head just a little, the picture doesn't turn out and her face is half or completely blurred. If she sits still, no problem. I've rarely had this problem with my xperia zl.
I'm using the latest marshmallow update. I had the same issue on lollipop. I've tried playing around with the hdr and quality settings. I've tried setting the storage to Phone or sd card.
I love this phone except for the disappointing pictures. Has anyone had any success with another camera app or any tips? Is this just a limitation of the phone? I would like to try a few things before I look into getting another phone.
Have you tried using manual mode? For movement, you want the fastest shutter speed possible, and likely the flash to get enough light into the sensor.
Actually, I haven't. I'm guessing the manual mode is the "control focus & exposure" setting? The slider with what looks like a little sun, would change the exposure and shutter speed?
Better lighting
Open Camera works really great
Take pictures then get a little help with PhotoDirector/ you finally feel happier with it.
Thanks for all the tips. I've got a few days off coming up and will be testing them out.
No ois builtin?
