SIM Unlock via flashing Canadian firmware? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I know that all USA (and Canadian) carrier models are the same hardware, with different firmware, and that Canadian firmware can be flashed to the US carrier models to be rid of carrier bloat. But does flashing Canadian firmware to say, a Sprint or Boost Mobile model allow you to use an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card?
(Relevance: The Boost Mobile version is on sale for $600, without tax, by far the lowest price available.)

As far as I know Canadian models are SIM locked too. But if you pay full price they will send unlock code with the phone.

flashing different firmware wont sim unlock it AFAIK.

[Q] international galaxy firmware on T-mobile

so, I've surfed the forum looking for answers, I did find many conflicting answers but no firm ones. I am considering the TMO variant so I'll have 4G connectivity in the US and 3G where I travel frequently to in Europe. Assuming the TMO note 3 is SIM AND bootloader unlocked, can I flash international firmware on it while keeping TMO's modem settings ? I will only consider the TMO variant if this can be done, otherwise I think i'll sacrifice the 4G connection and get an international variant as usual.

If you are paying the full price for the phone, it wouldn't matter where you get it from, it WILL be sim unlocked. my question is, knowing that the phone is SIM unlocked, and assuming it will be bootloader unlocked, can I flash any international firmware on it ?

I don't see why not since Tmobile/ATT version is identical to the Euro S800 version, as long as you keep the Tmobile modem. My at&t S4 is identical to the euro version and I can flash any euro ROM. Just hope it will be bootloader unlocked .

umm negative. Apparently our carriers suck like that. For example, t-mobile which is generally more lax than ATT will not unlock your phone until you've been with them for 40 days (or is it 4 months?) but yeah. No immediate unlock even if you purchase outright. I think you'll have to purchase it from someone else that explicitly states it is sim unlocked. Negrielectronics was a good example.

AT&T Branded Note 4 (Unlocked) on T-Mobile -- firmware flash?

I recently activated my SM-N910A on my new T-Mobile account. The phone was out of contract, so I asked AT&T to unlock it, and they did. The phone is working properly with my T-Mobile SIM card, albeit on the AT&T firmware.
Is it possible to replace the AT&T firmware with a stock Samsung Firmware, or, at the very least, with the T-Mobile branded firmware (for SM-N910T)? I understand that the bootloader is locked on these AT&T devices. Is it possible to unlock the bootloader and load a different firmware onto the device?
AT&T firmware has SO much bloatware, and I've not had any luck finding a way to root the phone on this firmware, so I'm stuck with all that bloat. What are my options here? Thanks!
EDIT: The phone was updated OTA to Marshmallow (6.0.1) when it was on the AT&T network. Build number is MMB29M.N910AUCS2EPH7

Are all S7s regardless of carrier the same spec wise? Flash custom AT&T on Verizon

Are all S7s regardless of carrier the same spec wise? Flash custom AT&T on Verizon
As i understand it the verizon s7 is sim unlocked and if you flash the unlocked kernel on it you can get the LTE bands working
Based on that i would assume i can flash a custom at&t rom on a verizon s7 edge, but i figured i would ask
I am planning on buying an s7 and the verizon models are the cheapest
I will be using it on a GSM based carrier
I'd also like to know this as related to: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/comments/a2lxjr/skype_boom_red_pocket_data_only_alternates_for/
Theres probably info in the verizon forum

Lg v20 us996 ucl

I'm thinking about buying a used US996 UCL (locked to US Cellular) to use on T-Mobile network.
Is there a service selling the unlock code for this phone? I haven't found any service that specifically say they do US Cellular phones.
If I root the phone, can I sim unlock it myself? Are all versions of this phone root-able, or will I need to check for something specific (security software version, firmware version, etc.)?
These are really noobish questions, but I hope someone can help me. Thanks!
According to their policy, all U.S. Cellular phones from February 2016 and newer already come SIM unlocked, so that's probably why you couldn't find any unlock codes/services:

Wow, that's really nice of US Cellular. It's a shame they have no presence where I am.
Thanks!
V20 are locked at OS level, flashing to a carrier-less firmware (US996), or a firmware from a carrier that doesn't lock their phone (everything aside from T-Mobile and Sprint), or an AOSP ROM (LineageOS) will unlock the device. Unless its a H918 or LS997, you don't have to worry about SIM locking

A question about firmware flashing due to recent ATT 3G shutdown issue

I have a S8 purchased as factory unlocked from samsung directly, which is U1 version.
Recently, I got notice from ATT about 3g shutdown, and I can see that S8 U1 does not support VolTE, but S8 ATT version does.
I know I can flash U1 to ATT version, but I have some questions
1) what is carrier switch?
I know there are 3 tutorial, flashing from carrier variant to unlocked, flashing from unlocked to carrier variant and carrier switch.
For my case, what is the different philosophy (not asking about steps) between carrier switch and flashing from unlocked to carrier variant?
2) can I keep my data while trying to resolve VoLTE issue? (carrier switch with Home CSC?)
3) Is there any way I can keep the bloatware-free OS while working with VoLTE (like unlocked AP + ATT CP hybrid)?
4) If carrier swithed to ATT with my S8, does it work with other sim card?
5) side question, I got a S20 from ATT, and I flashed it with U1 firmware, is it true unlocked version (I see ATT/ATT/ATT)? How can I make it true unlocked version. I am confused with the change of ATT/ATT/ATT and flashing firmware
