Screen won't turn on when wifi hotspot enabled - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello,
I have a problem with my galaxy s7 edge (SM-G935F, Android 7.0 stock). When I enable wifi hotspot my phone starts to lag and after few seconds screen becomes black. Notification light works but nothing else. Phone shows no signs of life and I must do a hard reboot (Power + Volume down). Sometimes it happens randomly without wifi hotspot enabled.
Do you guys have ever experienced anything like this? Do you know what could be the problem? Any answers appreciated!

Reinstall the firmware from Sam's mobile. Sounds like a file is corrupted. I had the s7 edge but I upgraded to s8 plus.

Screen won't turn on!

I got my Nexus 7, and it's beautiful. I turned it on and plugged it in, and the nexus logo appeared, super-dark. Then the screen went blank and the nexus logo came back, brighter...and vanished. My computer was still detecting it and even lets me load files, but it won't show anything on the screen! When I hard reboot it, I get the same thing; dark Nexus logo, bright Nexus logo, nothing, computer still 'sees' it.
What am I doing wrong?!
I have the same problem. I've been charging it for over an hour. I press the power button, google logo shows up, goes dark then Nexus logo appears for 2-3 seconds. Nothing after that, I connected it to the computer and it recognized it and I can transfer files.
Did you guys try to unlock the bootloader and install CWM? Same thing happened to me afterwards. Turns out the only way i could get it to work was to flash superboot then cwm.
It looks like something causes the backlight to turn completely off while it's booting. Otherwise mine works perfectly.

It happened to me before I tried to root it, so it's not something caused by a root attempt.
here's what happened to me:

Weird thing, I try the flashlight trick and I could see the Welcome screen. I press the triangle icon and it took me to pick a wifi network, after that i turn of the flashlight off and press the power button,Press it again and the screen came back to life. I think its the light sensor, disable the automatic feature. Or try and put it on bright light and see if the screen comes to life. If you also go into the the display menu and you messed with the manual control below halfways the screen shuts off completely. Weird.
The flashlight trick worked for me!
Does your nexus work now? I think its the light sensor set on automatic
I'm having the same issue with the Nexus 7 I just picked up today, however, even with shining a really bright flashlight on it, I still can't see enough to get past the setup. Is there any other way around this, or is it back to the shop?
Guys its the auto screen brightness!! Take it to somewhere where its really light out and it'll turn on. Its something weird going on with auto brightness. The lowest it goes is turning off ur screen eventually. Just turn automatic off

Wifi option set to NEVER be on during sleep/lock mode.. but still on?

We just picked up a Nexus yesterday and I noticed that when I turned the Wifi option on, to turn the wifi off when the screen is locked, it appears it is not doing that. I would still receive email (Gmail) and other app (Facebook) notifications when the screen was locked and if I would press the power button to turn the screen on, I could see the Wifi symbol as if Wifi was still going. I do not have many apps on at all, so I do not believe there is an app causing a problem when it comes to ignoring my settings. Has anyone else had this problem? I have seen some people have problems with Wifi turning off when this setting was changed to keep on always, but never the other way around. Should I consider exchanging for another? I know that I can simply use the power widget to turn it off before locking, but I always found this particular Wifi setting to be most useful.
If I need to provide further information, simply let me know. I appreciate the help!
I don't think that is a hardware problem, must be in the software, no need for exchanging
Are you setting the option in the advanced Wifi settings option? Mine was the same until I set it via this option. It still looks like the wifi is on when viewing the battery usage screen, but I don't receive email notifications and the wifi definitely wakes up when the device does.

Yes I am setting it through the advanced Wifi options. I noticed within the last hour that it was not pushing notifications and when I pressed the power button to unlock, it showed the Wifi was not on, and once I unlocked the screen it reconnected.. It would make sense if it were simply a problem within the software.
I have the same problem but the other way around, i.e. while the device is at the lock screen the wifi does appear to disconnect, and once I return to it and unlock it, it the turns of the wifi and reconnects.
Does anyone know where this setting is and how to alter it... one way or the other???

Bluetooth won't turn on

Called tmobile for slow Internet. They had me restart my phone twice to flash the network settings. Now Bluetooth will not turn on. Tried everything, apps removed cache for Bluetooth files share, safe mode, cache deleted.
I'm going to wait for the new security patch for December to hit. Maybe that will fix this.
Black nexus 6p 128gb
I fixed it the problem I went to >settings>backup & reset>network settings reset>reset settings
Bluetooth won't turn on.
Yes, this is happening to me as well. My 6p stopping allowing me to turn on the bluethooth about 3 days ago now on 12-9-15. I hope it gets fixed soon!

I went to setting and did the settings>backup & reset>network settings reset>reset settings and it didn't fix it
Same end result from me after reseting the settings. Bluetooth will not fully enable and just flips back to off.

I got tired of no bluetooth, so I did a factory reset, which as many have mentioned before did fix it.

Owners of the Lg Stylo 2 for Virgin Mobile were treated to a nice present as of this morning they were just updated to Android 7.0 a rare experience for Virgin Mobile owners as usually you need to upgrade your phone to get the latest updated OS. do a A carrier reset is almost always necessary if you’re activating a device or if you’re having trouble receiving voice, text, or a data connection. This reset sends your device’s new information to the network so that you can get service.
Note: If unable to perform reset over WiFi, disable option in settings and connect to mobile data.
Android Phones
Connect to Wi-Fi (if available)
Go to the dial pad or phone app
Enter ##72786#
Confirm the reset
Allow the device to restart and go through the activation processNote: Certain legacy devices may require an MSL code. If your device requires one, we recommend submitting a ticket to Support to obtain the code.
Looking for some help
I think this is the right place to post about this. I have an lg stylo 2 and I have not received the update for android 7 yet. I have tried restarting the phone and turning the phone off and taking the battery out for ten seconds. Im wondering if anyone here has heard of this happening or what I can do about it.
I also did not receive the update. Standard methods to accelerate the receipt of the update does not help.
My update went flawlessly. However I'm underwhelmed. I don't see a lot of difference other than notifications.
I just received this update Tuesday. Installed no problem.
Changes I've noticed:
Move "most" apps to SD Card
Ability to change themes
Alt Tabbing recent apps
Multi-Window and resize apps
More customization for Quick Settings
Increase Display density
New Emojis! 72 I think?
Day Dream is now called Screen Saver
New Improved File Manager
Do Not Disturb option
"Noob" Section to highlight important tabs
There's a bunch of other stuff as well. So far I like it.

I feel you @Jralph21
On my Boost Stylo 2 I did the 7.0 update a few weeks ago and all was well then 2 days ago this update popped up so I installed it and BAM! my phone was stuck in "SERVICE DISABLED" ESN was "unknown" and..
After calling Boost and LG I had to send it in under warranty. Luckily it was still under warranty.
Be careful guys! This has never happened to me before.. I now fear updates
Just thought id say my stylo 2 received the the android 7 update today. Update went flawlessly. If you haven't received the update yet, give it another week or two.
Hey since I upgraded almost NONE of my apps are sending notifications. I saw something about cleaning the system cache in recovery mode but I can't get there. Only hard reset and safe. How the hell do I get the notifications back?
Off Screen Memo
So I have been using the off screen memo a lot lately and its really cool. Very useful for writing notes, milk/eggs reminder, getting that hot girls (or guys) number or whatever you need. Or just draw to pass time.
Go to settings > pen > screen off memo. Turn on.
Now, with the screen off, remove the pen/stylus. A black screen will pop up and you can now write or draw right on the screen. You can change the pen style and color too.
Just thought I'd share for those who don't know about this function. :good:

Try this:
No guarantees though...
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold Volume Down and Power simultaneously until you see the boot screen
3. Use Volume Down to navigate to Recovery Mode
4. Press Power to confirm
5. Wait until you see the Android robot then hold down Power. Press and release Volume Up
6. Navigate with Volume Down to the Wipe Cache Partition option
7. Press Power to select
8. Use Volume Down to highlight the Yes option
9. Press Power to select
10. Press Power to reboot
or you may have to uninstall and reinstall the apps that aren't cooperating.

I updated to 7 a couple of days ago. I like the update, except that I seem to be having more power drain than before - "Call Services" being the main culprit. I've tried looking up what that is, but really haven't found much of anything on it. Just tried clearing Cache Partition - will update if that seemed to do anything.
Any suggestions?
I should also add that my Voice Search icon and "app" disappeared completely - but I can get them back if I switch from "Home" to "Easy Home", but lose again when switching back. The work around was to download a shortcut making app to create a shortcut for it.
Ever since I updated my LG Stylo 2 to 7.0, my phone's brightness keeps dimming or adjusting, and I cannot adjust it back to 100% it says. "Unable to brighten due to high temperatures, please try again later."
It never did this before, but after I applied the update, it's now giving me problems. Is their a way I can remove this, it's annoying.
Thank You.

Trusted Voice Ok Google Detection

When using Ok Google with screen off, the phone hears me and wakes, but gets stuck at the unlock screen. Anyone else?
Happened to me and there was an issue getting into smart unlock settings so I reset my entire phone and started over and everything worked again

Mine did it again. I did what it says but smart Lock is still blank. Does it take a minute?
This happens on a regular (one a week for the last month) basis for me, it isn't really annoying except when I need it to work like when I'm at home and I'm carrying around my baby. lol In addition to @rignfool's post you might need to go back and check that Smart Lock is NOT in the menu before turning Smart Lock ON again in trusted agents. That has worked for me everytime versus toggling it on then off in the same time period.
Recurring issue
I constantly need to toggle on-off the security -> trust agents -> Smart Lock (Google) to make it work again.
Any suggestion to eliminate the issue?
It seems I have to do it every morning after I left it charged over-night.
Thank you
There's a normal security feature that if the phone has been idle/unused for 4 hours that you have to manually unlock again before using OK google. Verified with multiple users! My Mother is having the exact same problem though, that it keeps locking it over the course of using it via bluetooth in car (Yes I've read there's already issues) and having it in front of her during use. Literally happened hit or miss right after activation. Maybe I'll reset her phone and start over again.
