How to go back to stock from custom ROM? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

So the last time I had a custom rom installed I bricked my phone when trying to get to stock. I remember that Lineage OS changed my device name to "axon7" and the stock rom wouldn't flash. What should I do if I wanted to get back to stock? Would a full backup be enough? System backup?
I'm not on a custom ROM right now but wanting to try one. so i can do a backup. Otherwise what should I flash/wipe

You can put your phone in EDL mode and flash a full stock using MiFlash.

[Q] why do i always have to reflash a recovery image after reboot

so yes my phone is rooted and all. i've always been flashing roms over and over. but ever since i flashed the AOSP 2.2 OTA my recovery image goes back to stock after reboot. so i have to use ROM manager to keep reflashing a recovery for me. This is the first rom i have that is doing this. Is there a way to fix it or just make it permanent?
fixed it. i just flashed another rom.

oh crap

have metcilus twrp on phone tried to flash beanstalk would not boot so went to go into twrp to recover the screen only flashes black help lol

Seriously, flash this one and flash CM https://www.gizdev.com/twrp-root-huawei-p9-lite/
Wait so do you still have TWRP access or not?
Which ROM did you have on the phone before flashing Beanstalk? Stock? Or CM?
Some more info on what you did would help...

Had stock on it I managed to flash the.twrp that comes with one of toolkits and than flashed the stock rom to get me back up and running
Meticulus TWRP recognize only stock ROM and CyanogenMod, if you have no system on the phone (wiped in recovery) or another rom like Beanstalk, I suppose it does not recognize the system so it just wont boot.

Back to stock Nougat?

I have a Moto X Style XT1572 Indian version. I updated it to stock Nougat 7.0 via OTA when it was rolled out in India. Later in January I unlocked the bootloader and installed unofficial TWRP recovery for flashing custom ROMs. I did take a full backup of stock ROM immediately when I installed the recovery. Since then I'm using custom ROMs built for Nougat modem.
At present, how can I go back to stock Nougat? I did do a full wipe (except internal memory) and tried to restore the stock Nougat backup which I took in January. The backup always gets successfully restored. However, when the phone boots up completely and reaches the language selection screen(the first screen when the phone boots up), the phone reboots and goes into a bootloop just displaying the bootloader unlocked screen. The only option I have then is to flash any custom ROM again and they do work perfectly. So what must be restricting the stock backup to boot? Also, is there any other way to go back to stock Nougat?
anyone, please?

This thread looks like it has the nougat full firmware package for your phone. Try fastboot flashing all of it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/xt1572firmwareclarkretasiaindiads7-t3735257
If that doesn't work out, here's another trick I've seen work on occasion. Restore your TWRP backup, but do not reboot into it. After restoring the backup, use TWRP to flash stock recovery, then reboot to recovery and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Then reboot into the stock rom. That can clear up some internal storage problems that hang things up. There are other ways to do it, but this is easiest.
