I would like to know; us 996 can flash other tot? For example, h915; f800 tot??
no in short
no no no in long lol, bootloader will turn lgup away showing its not correct device.
i would be very shocked if it worked and also booted after. Too much in the bootloader is protected and lg up dosn't replace the bootloader, just everything after it

Hi I tried to root my Lg F800s and install WETA rom (H918 version) now my phone does not boot and I can only access download mode. LGUP reads it as H918 , is there anyway to install modified kdz or using flashtool.
I just purchased a LG V20 for $150, but it has one problem. It says Firmware Update now waiting for any connection. It has an error code or something below it with 633A B50. I can only go into a few of the boot menues. I can't turn on ADB, and i can't access recovery or download mode. WHAT CAN I DO, PLEASE HELP.

If it says Firmware Update, then you are in download mode. If you have pretty much anything other than an AT&T, or Sprint model, you should be able to get a KDZ or use LG Bridge. If there is no KDZ for your phone, then it is a brick.

It is the sprint ls997 variant so no .kdz file as of currently. ADB is not connecting, but i can get LGUP with uppercut to recognize the device in download mode. I don't believe the boot loader is unlocked, but is there anyway i could use LGUP to push a .kdz file for a different variant (I tried the Verizon variant and it failed because it recognized i was trying the wrong variant) which would allow me to boot into a OS and turn on debugging and from there use Dirty Santa? Basically is there anyway to let LGUP push the wrong .kdz variant?
Have you tried the LG Flash tool? I know there are some patches that will allow it to flash without checking the model. Since you have a brick already, you have nothing to lose. If it were me, I would try every V20 KDZ that is out there in the hopes that one of them would boot. If you can get it to boot, then you can use dirty santa, and you will have a working phone again. On the plus side -- you got a great deal for $150.00. You can always hop on Ebay and find a system board to swap in.

what patches of LGUP will allow to flash without checking model?
I am having this trouble too. but i bricked mine trying to root it
there was a post on lg viet forums where they converted a ls997 to a Korean model, it had no service but after flashing the sprint modem,it worked perfectly. just look for patched lgup first.

Do you mean this? My LGUP never worked even before brick, so I already had to use this patched exe and dll file to even roll back to older firmware for dirty santa root in the first place.
Now after running step3.bat and flashing saved aboot img, the phone is locked out if recovery and download mode shows 633A B50 and patched LGUP / DLL no longer recognise device. Uppercut also doesn't recognise device. LG Flash 2014 also failed so did LG Bridge

well i can get into download mode, but there is error 633A B50 which stop it from doing much useful
i can also launch into fastboot, though it's locked and fastboot flash commands no longer work
I apologize ahead of time if this is in the wrong thread or place entirely.
For the past couple of hours I have been trying to revert my lg v20 to the 10j version from the 10k version.
This doesn't seem too hard, except everything, everything I've found, doesn't seem to work for some reason.
Some things I tried;
fastboot boot (twrp).img
fastboot flash recovery (twrp).img
*The two above did not work due to (remote : Unknown Command)
I tried LGUP but that doesn't launch for me due to not being able to load a model. Can get a pic if needed.
I tried lg's flash tool 2014 and 2016
*Both said that the server could not be reached and to check back*
Some extra info it helps
Windows pc running windows 10
The phone does not have root
The 10k update was insatlled using twrp with the flashable zip here https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h918-twrp-flashable-stock-firmwares-t3619671
If there is anymore info ask. I'm really stuck here and appreciate any help offered.
Actual model is ls997 but i flashed vs995 kdz with ls997 modem everything worked fine.Just very crappy battery life so i decided to flash a us996 rom. but it was not just a rom but the full us996 kdz twrp flashable without the recovery.I figured this as i was flashing in twrp it showed flashing laf and all other partitions. So now it doesn't even boot to any recovery or boot at all.but i still have unlocked bootloader and can get into download mode.Though lgup keeps saying "unknown model, US996".Im sure i can just flash vs995 kdz again since there is no ls997 kdz but lgup wont let me in lol.is there any way to bypass this unknown model pop up? or can i use flash tool or something.

lg mobile support tool says ls997 but the firmwire is like us996q or something.Lg bridge can't even connect to the device.

thanks for the reply Brian.
i thought i have the patched one, i downloaded it from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-patch-lgup-to-unlock-features-t3652222
but i wont even open because it says "you have to select a known model, please" " when i select unknown model,US996COM41" and if i try without any phone connected, it asks to select a model. So it does detect it just not correctly. Is there a way to patch it to bypass model selection?
I think the lg flash tool i have (1.8.x.x) is out of date for v20 that's why it may be failing download once it reaches "preareafterdload Download".Though the other version 2.0.1.6 or something fails to load at all.correct me if im wrong.
FOUND the fix.Used lg flash tool (1.8.x.x) but instead of using the dll from kdz i used the lg g5 dll provided in this fourm:https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/bring-lg-g5-to-life-download-mode-lgup-t3565508
and is flashed just fine!!

its for the g5 but this is the only one that worked for me, guessing cause g5,g6,v20 use same processor? you might want to change the name of .dll to you model number Ex. " LGUP_LS997.dll

Follow the instructions you mentioned, while I am ready to flash dz file, flash tool will stop at 10% and show download failed info. My device is v20 f800s and use dll file you mentioned, that is why I can't flash dz file? If so, which dll file I should use?

1st Step: select LGUPc.dll extracted from H910PR kdz and selected .kdz file. It failed because model mismatch (H910 vs H910PR (I have Lineage 15.1 for H910 installed)
2nd step: select H850 dll and select extracted H910PR .dz file > It failed right within 1 second
I'll try flashing H910_10r full firmware through TWRP and see if I have any luck with the phone to flash back to H915 again....
Mine cannot booting, always bootloop.
I try to flash via LGUP and UPPERCUT there's unknown model, so i cannot proceed.
I try to LGFlasfhTool 1.8.x.x with several dll, from extract kdz or from the latest LGUP_commond.dll the latest one, i try many dll, but its say download failed after 4% or sometimes it's say to many partitions and then error download failed.
I try to boot in factory reset mode (power + volume down), after doing factory reset (pressing YES twice) only LG logo appeared.
I was try to using fastboot mode, but I cannot run fastboot boot twrp.img its say <waiting devices>
Now my LGV20 (US996) cannot boot up normally, it's only can boot in download mode, factory reset and bootloader mode.
Anyone can help, plz.
Thanks before
If you have the correct version of TWRP, rename it to "twrp.exe". From a powered off phone hold volume DOWN and plug-in USB cable. Issue the following command from a prompt in the same folder that contains TWRP:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Reboot to recovery (Vol down, hold and release power), choose "yes" twice and wait a few seconds for a reboot into TWRP.

not much actual help, but fastboot boot doesn't work on ANY v20 models. you have to actually flash it and THEN boot into it.
Hi everyone,
my v20 h990ds ( stock without root ) is in bootloop.
When i tried the "DirtySanta" solution, i can do the steps on my device ( bootloop ). So i decide to unlock the bootloader.
I come from the nexus community, so i have searched for a solution by fastboot.
Now then i try to ask to the LG from my "unlock.bin" file, it says that my phone is not unlockable (wtf?).
Searching in to the forum, i read about the "download mode", but when i try to jump in, my phone reboot itself after 4 seconds. Is it normal?
Do you have another solution for my phone?

are you following the directions here > https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/dirtysanta-h990-t3624296
The dirtysanta hack is the unlocked bootloader, it installs the Eng Aboot specifically for devices that cant be unlocked.
