Switching from Note 4 to S7 (non edge) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Hello community
I dabbled a bit into the Samsung Galaxy s7 xda section and didnt see any development going on there so I came to this one. Is it safe to assume that any development or roms from this section will work with a Tmobile S7 (Non Edge) device?

I have bad news for you. I make the same jump, from the note 4 to the S7E. The usa variants of the S7E all have locked bootloaders. So there is not root like the note 4 had. No twrp... The only root method is using a leaked engineer boot kernel. It's far from perfect, but it does give root access. Results vary GREATLY in the eng root camp. See my signature for the link.
To my knowledge there is only 1 rom, you flash with flash fire which is an app you flash on device.
The biggest upgrade from the note 4 is camera. The S7E camera is like magic compared to the note 4. Especially in low light conditions.
I hope that helps. The S7E is a nice phone, but root, like the note 4 (tmobile), simply does not exist.

From where i can get note 5 port rom

I m using at&t note 3 am n900a. I saw note 5 port rom but is for t-mobile and international varients of note 3. I want note 5 rom to be flashed in my phone. From where i can get for my at&t note 3 . Plz do reply
If I am not mistaken the at&t note 3 is similar to the at&t/ verizon s5's (g900a/g900v?) as they have a locked bootloader. I am unsure if you currently have, or are able to root on your current version of android as there isn't much info to go on with your post, But with the s5 I do knowa few things for sure. Everyone else gets to have aokp, cm13, chroma, insert anything more than a debloated stock ROM with a few bells and whistles and a bit of xposed.
The best note5 port for note3 i was using was Darklords port, check in note3 android developement forum

Still no nougat update for my galaxy s7 edge

Verizon hasn't released Android 7 to the S7/S7 Edge yet.
There hasn't been any official word from Verizon on when they plan on releasing Android 7, but search for any information about it, a lot of different sites seem to think it's going to be sometime in March.
As for the root / unroot question, if KNOX was tripped during the rooting process, you may not be able to install the OTA update.
You might be able too using different software, which you should be able to find by searching the forum.
A handy tool to check of the CSC and KNOX were tripped or now, install the.

If it comes back saying Warranty Valid, then you should be able to install 7 no problem.
If it comes back saying Warranty Invalid, then you will probably need to wait until it's available for manual download.

That's great. The 935t is T-mobile. We have the 935v, which is Verizon. Which is what he was asking about.

Customer revovery for s7 edge g935v,anyone???

Ivery rooted my s7 edge now I'm wanting to customise but can't find a custom recovery twrp for the g935v anyone had any luck yet???
As of yet, it's looking increasingly slim that we'll get a custom recovery or even an unlocked bootloader for that matter. Side note; been curious if theres been any talk about re-working the method for S6 and S6 Edge, similar to how they unlocked the Note 4's bootloader. SO! You'll be using flashfire for a while, my friend.

Which Rom Should I Choose?

Hello to everyone,
I am using the Galaxy S7 Edge model. I bought it when it first came out and it stayed in the closet for a long time. Now I have decided to switch to this phone again. I've been far away from using Xiaomi for a long time. What would you recommend as kernel and rom for this phone. The model I use is the 935F model.

There are many custom roms available for your device. Check here:
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (Exynos) ROMs, Kernels, Rec
Improve your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge's battery life, performance, and look by rooting it and installing a custom ROM, kernel, and more. (Exynos)

LineageOS (LOS) is quite popular.
i tried a few ones, and finally i´ve sticked with LineageOS 18.1 for S7 Edge Exynos and never look back !
good luck with your choice!

Should I switch from my A40 to a Note 4?

My A40 has been crap recently (can't install ROMS etc.) And the newest note phone that has a simple bootloader is the Note 4 I have a Note 3 and the experience is great on it. So should I get a Note 4?

It's a good phone but:
as there are many posts about emmc failure of these devices I wouldn't have bought it knowing that in advance.
You never know when it happens and have no chance to avoid it.
If you can get it cheap, it might still be worth it as some guys offer repairing/resoldering it.
Don't take N910V Verizon, as these are very hard to flash TWRP/custom ROM onto it.
N910C with Exynos CPU are said to be faster than N910F Snapdragon but not that well supported with custom ROMs.
