Showing the lockscreen takes a certain amount of time - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi Guys!
I've noticed that some roms (most of them apart of Invicta and sometimes RR) have some delay when pressing the power button to show the lockscreen.
That's pretty annoying since it takes even 5 seconds sometimes!
Any clue or fix?
Thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure that the kernel is offline'ing all but one core in deep sleep (doze), and thus there is a delay when waking up.
If you download an app called "kernel adiutor", you can set the minimum CPU cores from the "little" cluster to 2. This should fix the problem.

[Q] Screen not turning on

Hi,
I have this annoying problem regarding waking up my device when its locked. Normally i should press the power button, or the trackpad as im running virtuous rom, and the screen should give me the lock screen. But this does not happen, intead screen stays black, the keys on the bottom do light up, and it registers my touches on the screen as i can put the music player on again.
This is happening for quite some time, but lately its more often and its really frustrating me because i have to hit the power button for like 10 times in a row before it finally goes on again.
When it stays black and i put it off again, touching the power button, moste of the times the screen will flash the lockscreen and go black again.
Ive tried to find a sort of system in it, like a period of time or somthing like that, but it seems as if its completely arbirtrary when it happens and when it doesnt.. Only thing i remarked was that when it's off for a longer time, it will have more chance of getting on the first time then when its off for a shorter period...
Any suggestions to fix this evil thing?
cheers
This is a very comman problem.
what you need to do is setting up a screen off profile on setCPU
min 245
max 368
scalling : powersave
I agree check your screen off profiles. Also try not to oc too high. You might also want to install the pershoot kernel if you haven't already. I had this issue when I fist installed the virtuous rom & switching kernels and tweaking my cpu profiles resolved this issue.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Screen off profile doesnt help, What does work is less oc'ing it... stupid thing is i can only oc to 902 mhz for the screen to turn on all the time... Thats like not oc'ing it at all ><... I'm on the virtuous kernel now, will try the pershoots in a min, i'll keep you updated
Oh sorry, screen off profile does help, didnt enable profiles in a whole ... pershoot kernel helps a lot, with that one and the screen off profiles, i can oc to 1517 and even then its just not going on very rarely... thanks for the help... Only thing thats regrettable is that the pershoot kernel does not have the smartass governor ...
EDIT: I realised i didnt enable the profiles while using the virtuous kernel either, so i installed that one again and guess what, it works!! Every single time i hit that power switch it goes on like it should... what a relieve thx guys
grtz

Lockscreen Lag

I ve been having this issue with all roms i tried. When i wake up the phone from deep sleep and try to unlock the screen the movement seems a little bit laggy. What could be the problem?
What CPU settings/governor do you use?
368\1200 ondemand ive tried smartass 2 even performance, ive tried 806\1200 and still feels laggy for a sec. Now i dont think its a big issue but i was just wondering why it happens
try to wait 2 secs before unlocking...or change your lockscreen, i suggest you if you use cm7 to disable unclok feature and just use menu button to unlock if you use MIUI -change lockscreen... if oxygen-then don't know.

i have the same thing too
i have to wait a few secs while holding my finger on the screen to make it less laggy
but everything else is normal
it seems like there are different u8800s my cousins u8800 doesnt have this issue, and his u8800 has more responsive touchscreen, its definitely a digitizer issue. He bought it 3 months after me so i guess they changed digitizers on their later releases

delay between Ringtone and Screen

Hi All,
I have a weird issue.
When someone is calling me, there is a delay (several seconds) between the ringtone sound and the number appearing on the screen.
Its occur especially after at least 5 minutes of not operating the phone.
Any help?
Yeah me too facing same issue. it takes 1-2 secs to wake up while ringing.
are you using Abyss kernel and under clock CPU to minimum 100mhz ?
I had this problem with Abyss Kernel and set minimum speed of CPU to 100mhz.
using CF-Root kernel now, this problem is gone.
could be 100mhz wake up latency.

[issue] Need some feedback from GB users

hello, I would like to know if I'm alone on this issue, right now I'm running stock 2.3.6 on my i9100 and I have found an issue.
When Power saving mode is activated (the default one), if I open the camera app and turn off the screen for 1 minute, the phone dies and I have to reset it to make it work again.
Some friends told me that on ICS it doesn't happen so I was wondering if I got a faulty unit or this OS has this bug.
I would like some feedback from you guys with gingerbread onboard, thanks.

This has never happened to me, but maybe try to turn off the device and take the battery out, leave it for a minute and reinsert the battery and restart. Then try to reproduce the problem.
Never happened to me or even heard of it
Sent from my GT-I9100
have you tried to see if this bug would occur without power saver mode on?,i never had this issue before nor heard of it
thanks everyone for your answers and concerns, the problem has been isolated:
It was a bug caused by a underclock that I did have that so far only occurs on the circumstances that I had on my phone.
When your phone turns off the screen, it will go to sleep mode or deep sleep mode depending on the running apps you have in that moment, these modes allow the CPU to low the frequencies (CPU Clock) in order to preserve battery life.
Comes to public interest that when using the camera app, the phone uses a high frequency clock to process photos and videos taken with the camera.
As because I did have a custom kernel that tweaks the CPU in order to gain more battery life, when battery saver option (which slow the max freq. clock of the CPU) was ON in my phone, the phone couldn't jump directly from sleep mode to max freq mode to keep camera app running and the CPU kept "slept"
If serves as interest of anyone, the kernel I was using was Siyah Kernel (don't remember which version, just check out the date this thread was posted and compare it with siyah kernel log to know by that date which was).

[Q] Anyone else experiencing status bar lag?

I'm having lags when pulling down the status bar. Any idea how to fix?
Same phone, same problem. Please let me know if you find a solution.
When it starts lagging i restart the phone. After that it works normal.
Yes, I do the same but I was hoping for some 'longer-term' solution. By the way, is it in any way harmful to restart a phone several times a day?
No it is not as long as you do it properly.

It's because of the CPU governor (Ondemand). The CPU underclocks to like 300mhz when idle, and that causes the lag. You'll notice that there's no lag when you pull down the bar after you've used the phone a bit.

Yeah that works. Also by doing some fast pulling downs one after the other it normalisez a bit, but still after some time it starts again to lag.

On mine the lag stops if I pull it down some times very fast or after a reboot, but it still starts later. Do you have any idea what we can do ?

You can try to pull it down fast several times without stoping and it becomes smooth again but not for much.

I think that is not the case, I had such issue on my last phone, Alcatel Idol X. Notification bar would lag all the time unless I start some other app, facebook or some news app for example. While those apps were running (actively, not in background) it was smooth. But it doesn't help my S3Neo. Thank you anyway for your opinion!
