I have an idea i dunno if anyone does require this feature... well here goes...
whenever we try to dial, sometimes it does happen that either the person on the other line doesn't pick up or it is engaged [don't u jus hate tht ] anyway this is where it get's interesting, wht if we cud link the External Speaker to the Light Sensor in such a way tht when we dial the number, it gets connected to the external speaker giving the ringing tone and if it does get connected we will put it next to our ear and the external speaker gets disabled which will enable the internal speaker voila!!!
Anyway I hope I explained wht I was trying to say.... do you think this feature wud be possible....
I like the idea, but it wouldn't work when its dark outside

But wouldn't it still be worth having even if it doesn't work in the dark?
I'd say it would.
I was wondering if its possible on N3 to auto answer a call if you take the phone to your ear, without the need of press a button/slide to answer ?
Having all these features and sensors I couldn't find any option that does that.

Not that I know of, but in hands-free mode you can just say "answer" or "reject" (and it will also go to speakerphone).
Here is my fix for the mic problem I had till a few hours ago (mic not working while changing to speaker mode in a call), maybe I'm the only G5 owner that had this problem, but still somebody could have it too, the fix is shown in the screenshot.

But where is this file present?
/system/etc/mixer_paths_tasha.xml
Sorry if this sounds silly, but given that I'm simply a Googler that happens to have the same problem, I'd like to better understand what this fix is exactly. Is this something that developers have to do or can a normal non-tech person apply the fix that you have provided? How do I access what it is that you have shared.

If you have a rooted phone, then you just need to install a file manager that can access root folder (the best for this is in my opinion is root explorer because it has an built in text editor), and then you simply navigate to system/etc and you open up mixer_paths with the text editor option in root explorer and just simply find the lines of code in the pics I provided and change the numbers, save it, restart your phone and it should work after that.
Hope this will help to fix your problem, if yes than hit the thanks button if you want

You must have a rooted phone to get access to system files, sorry mate :/
You can try, but I dont want to be responsible if you break your phone :/
Try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575

I'm having a related issue that maybe you can help me with (maybe not).
My stock camera doesn't record sound, and when making Hangouts Dialer calls I don't hear anything, nor does any mic work (headset or chin mic).
However, when I hooked up a USB OTG hub to the phone, then plugged in a USB headset through the hub, everything worked fine.
Also, regular calls (and Google Voice) work fine. I'm now using Open Camera to shoot video, and that app has full functionality.
So I'm thinking this is some kind of oddball firmware issue. Any ideas?
Hi, I have the same problem. Can you please tell me where I can find that xml on android 8?
I had the same problem. It turned out to be a "hardware" thing. There are two microphones, one at the bottom of the phone which works when on earpiece, and the second one on the top of the phone (above earpiece) which works when on speaker mode. I cleaned the first one several times without noticing there is a second one on the top. It turned out that the second microphone was blocked by some dirt. I cleaned it and now it works like a harm when on speaker mode.
Hi,
When you turn the volume up on my Verizon s8 , when you get to a certain point ..there is a message that states you will damage your hearing etc etc.. and to hit OK In order to allow the volume to go high as it can go...
Does anybody know how to remove this warning ? So that the volume side buttons go as high as the phone allows without interruption?
i would love this removed as well it fully annoys me.
If you don't mind rooting you can add Rom control to your framework to remove it or you can remove it from the framework itself. Java and Samli is required knowledge tho. If some fantastic dev can give you the right path it will make your job easier. Or find a Rom with Rom control built in ?
I don't want to root the phone bc of that 80 percent battery issue
There is no way to disable that"feature" on stock TouchWiz, unfortunately.
It is particularly annoying when you are trying to raise the volume on your headphones, and are forced to take your phone out of your pocket and hit "ok".
Yes this is the most annoying thing on the S8
Hello
I'm having an issue, well... not really an issue but an inconvenience.
I have a J5 2015 with LineageOS 16 installed. Everything has been working great until now. However, when I'm answering calls and want it to switch to the loud speaker, I have to manually do so every single time.
Is there any way I could let the phone automatically switch from ear piece to loud speaker when I leave the phone further away from my ear? I looked through all settings but didn't find anything relevant.
Thank you

That's not a feature of any ROM really. You use a tasker script to set it switch to loudspeaker with proximity sensor but if you don't know how to use tasker and scripts then you will definitely not be able to do it.
Very strange feature request. pixel, OnePlus, xiaomi, Samsung etc, none of these phones have a feature like this so I don't know why you are expecting it to be in the settings
Hello
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure how often do you use it but I use it a lot. I normally have to do something else while the other person talk on the phone. That's why I want the phone to switch to loud speaker immediately when I put it down.
I previously used an IPhone 5s as my first smart phone and this feature was included. Guess I got used to having that around.
Could you share me the link how to set it up manually using tasker script?
Thank you
