I've noticed that the FP reader was much better on LOS than on stock. Since you can add a finger, then add the same one as a different print, you could fill out the missing parts of a fingerprint. Whenever it finds out that a print is already registered, it just doesn't do anything, like if you didn't touch it.
On stock if you register the same part of a print, it resets the process entirely.
I usually end up with less than 40% effectivity when trying to unlock. Can anyone point me to the right direction? Maybe it's a specific app

First off let me say I'm aware of the scanning several fingers per "fingerprint slot" method. In my experience this reduced the accuracy of it properly reading each individual finger. Maybe I didn't do it as well as I could have or something, but when it comes to getting past the lockscreen I don't have a huge amount of patience for tinkering.
My question is, now that we have root and Safestrap and people are coming out with actual custom ROMs, is it feasible that we're going to see ROMs with more than three fingerprint slots or is that something caused by a limitation that a ROM can't really overcome?
Perhaps someone can explain better how to work around this, but my particular needs for the fingerprint scanner - I think - limit the options when faced with only 3 slots considerably. Namely, I want to be able to hand the phone to my wife and have her be able to unlock it just as easily. I do most of the driving so if something needs to be done using my phone I give it to her rather than try to work it while I'm on the road. Plus there's all the times where one of us doesn't have their phone handy so we just borrow the other one's phone.
Thanks in advance!
When you go to add a new fingerprint and you have to swipe your finger multiple times you can use each finger individual for every swipe, ex: for setting up a new fingerprint you are required to swipe 5 times(don't know the actual number) swipe once with your thumb, once with your index. or once with your finger and once with your wifes, kids, etc.

I probably should have mentioned that I was aware of the scanning several fingers per "fingerprint slot" method, and then mentioned that in my experience this made it more difficult to get a successful read when trying to unlock the screen.
Anyone? Please keep in mind I'm asking about whether this is something that can be done, not whether people think it needs to be or whether a work-around exists since I've made it as clear as I can without multi-colored bold flashing text saying that I am already aware of the work-around.
Is it feasible that we might be seeing more than 3 fingerprint storage slots in future custom ROMs?
Hello Guys,
I found a way to have a seamless experience with the OP2 fingerprint sensor. When adding a new fingerprint always ensure that you touch the sensor in all directions with both the thumbs. This way you will be able to unlock the phone via both your thumbs. Hope this helps.
Cheers.
you could always just add a second valid fingerprint with your other thumb...

OP's way is actually better, the reader gets slower when it has to scan for multiple fingers.
Love the fingerprint unlock locked-screen feature. However, it has it's drawbacks. Can only be activated via - PIN lock. How you set up a pin,and after that it gives you the option to use fingerprint as well.
My question is : how do i use fingerprint only!? No more pin just the finger.
Best part about fingerprint is that you don't have to use the physical button. if the screen is off / locked just hold finger and it opens.
Also. I am now using Action Launcher 3. Super launcher. But it does not allow the function to unlock via fingerprint. Does anybody know if this works ? Where is the setting ?
The pin is used to unlock your sim card, the fingerprint is used to unlock your phone's system. If you don't want any pin code, you can either remove the sim card (well, it will probably be a little bit annoying when you want to call someone ^^), or set the pin code to blank. I don't even know if this is possible, actually.
As phones usually ask pin code before system unlock (fingerprint or other), you probably cannot have a third app that would allow to use fingerprint as pin, as it would have to start before the system. Unless I miss an idea, I think you can't do what you ask.
Figured that it has an automated backup just in case the finger is not recognized . You either get the pin or the pattern. Never just the fingerprint. There is no way around this.
Another question: how do i get the list of apps to go in one single page. Right now With ZenUI launcher there are a few pages. Action launcher 3 has one page (option). ..Is there any way to do this with ZenUI ? I got back to the default launcher from Asus cuz of the fingerprint. it's kinda cool to have it. Even tho Action Launcher 3 is amazing.
What's the problem with Action Launcher? I'm using it with fingerprint unlock and it works just fine.

Clearly you only assumed things only from the setup screen.
OF COURSE in this phone we only use our fingerprint to unlock the screen. No buttons, No pins, No pattern.
If, that is IF, the phone can't recognize your fingerprint for 5 times in a row (because of wet finger, wrong position, dirty etc) it will then requires a pin or pattern unlock. This is why the setup ask you for your pin/pattern first.
I was wondering last night, wouldn't it be a good feature if you could shut the phone down with a finger print, as well as activating it?
I mean, if you are somehow "urged" (by someone who thinks he has the authority to do so), to supply access to your phone and you normally use fingerprints for access, then when the phone is shut off the device needs a pattern as well which is harder to be "urged".
Then if the phone is encrypted, accessing the files is hard...
Just put you magic finger on the scanner instead of the normal one and "Shut"
There is an app that allows you to assign a Tasker task to fingerprint sensor in this article. I believe you could create task using a shell code to power down and tie it to the app. I haven't tried it but worth looking into.

Not going to ask why you think someone in authority might "urge" you to give them access to your phone but I don't think that's a fear the average user has.

I've attempted to that my self before but the fingerprint scanner's performance is noticeable slower and the gestures aren't that accurate unless you use the tap it double tap "gestures". I recommend using Google's own default swipe gestures since it's well optimised and well though.
In OMNI ROM for 8.1 the fingerprint capture is delayed slightly. Similar to the Z5 Compact. In my opinion the lightning fast fingerprint reader renders the lock screen useless and what used to be a quick display of information is now just a blur as my phone unlocks. This then prompts me to perform several other actions to retrieve/view the notification. Not to mention the music apps lock screen widget to skip tracks is now useless because my phone unlocks before I have time to interact with the lock screen.
How adding a delay in fingerprint recognition could be accomplished (if at all) on the stock firmware for 8.0?
Does anyone know if there is a delay parameter in some part of the system that can be modified?
What controls the recognition of the fingerprint scanner (kernel or android system)?
I know what you are talking about but a workaround is to press it with a finger nail or a finger that hasn't been setup like the little finger of your non-dominant hand.

Yeah that's the short term fix but I want a longer term fix if I am to use this phone for a few years.
Clarification on question:
I guess I am wondering what piece of the android operating system controls the scanner.
Is it the kernel or is it one of the few android fingerprint applications?
Any suggestions on this would be helpful so I can begin looking into a solution because I like the fingerprint scanner in the power button but I just want it to distinguish between me powering on to see the lockscreen/check time/change music or me actually wanting to unlock the device.
