Hi,
I've searched high and low all over XDA for a definitive answer on this so I'm sorry if it's already been answered.
Is there a completely foolproof way to install a2017u firmware on a Chinese A2017 zte axon 7 which *preserves the capability to download OTA A2017U firmware updates*?
Does TWRP need to be removed and stock recovery restored for this to happen?
(I have seen drakenfx's thread on twrp-flashable systemstocks but I'm unsure as to whether these are OTA capable.)
Are all functions preserved and working on the A2017-to-A2017u phones?
Thanks
Ps.I want to install A2017U firmware due to concerns about security on a2017 Chinese firmware, and lack of camera raw and daydream support.

The only thing that I am expecting to be different is that more updates are being given for the European markets and that the English dialogues in the services to be better adjusted to English and the services available in Europe Rather than China

hi chryant ....You have found some solution?
i'm searching on this post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-guide-updates-to-stock-files-via-t3469484
But I do not have anything clear.....
I have reviewed 32 pages of the forum section "ZTE Axon 7 Question & Answers", 12 pages of the section "Guide" and performed a search in the forum with the search tool.
So far I have found that is possible to flash A2017U over A2017G.
There is no information or guide to flash A2017G over A2017.
A post from 14/11/2016 states that this will be useless as A2017 has a different hardware than A2017G, as the modem do not pick up the bands.
If you are searching for the same, please stop search. Apparently is not possible to flash A2017G on A2017.

Wrong on so many levels... no one seemed to attempt that because A2017U's software is much better. If you looked better you'd find a "Transform A2017 to A2017U" post, which basically tells you to backup everything, install the A2017U firmware and restore chinese bootstack stuff.
Long story short: Everyone says that if you install the correct modem file you'll be able to use the modem just fine.
Hi, how do I check my current bootloader version that is on my phone? And how do i know what version of bootloader will be in any stock rom i want to flash?
I don't want to overwrite with older bootloader. Need to know the current and the next one i will flash.
My device is from Europe and I have NPN25.137-92 installed.. I think this is not the latest stock nougat for my region.
Cheers.

No need to push your question everyday. If someone is able/wants to answer he will do.
First of all: NPN25.137-92 is not the European firmware, it's the one for India and Brazil.
The latest one in Europe seems to be NPN25.137-93-14, since yesterday there is another update with version number NPN25.137-93-18 out incl. August security patch but until now only US users (software channel RETUS) have confirmed it. For India/Brazil (your firmware) the latest Nougat firmware is NPN25.137-92-14.
Have you fastboot flashed some firmware on your device so that you are on NPN25.137-92 now? That could be the reason you donĀ“t receive any further OTA updates.
Your bootlader version should be visible when you boot into stock recovery.
Yes, I must have flashed pretty wrong firmware, and now I want to get back on the track. Though I dont remember and I dont have knowledge what was flashed before that. Now I wonder what should be my next step in order to have latest European nougat, or oreo.

Flash latest european firmware NPN25.137-93-14 via fastboot. It can be found somwhere here in the Moto G 5+ threads or you can download it with Lenovo Smart Assistant: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds101291
That should keep you back on track.
If you can't wait you can update to Oreo with the available OTA found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...fficial-moto-g5-g5-plus-t3848246/post77856408 ( Read OP of that thread to find out how). But as I posted above there's a newer nougat firmware out in the US so you may not receive future Oreo updates if you use this OTA.

Need an advice: I'm currently on POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-10, OTA says i can update it to POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-14.. Then I could get Oreo OTA from the thread above. In case of any further trouble: will it be safe to return to nougat POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-10 via fastboot? If yes, if then I update again to POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-14, it is safe to take nougat OTA again? And then oreo OTA again? Hope you get my point.

No, that's not safe. Downgrading is always a risky thing because of the bootloader and taking OTA after that could completely hardbrick your phone.
So if you're once on 93-14 you shouldn't flash an older firmware than this. Same applies to downgrading from Oreo to Nougat.

Well, in case of firmware, I cannot find direct 93-14 fastboot rom for download. I have found 93-10 only, that's why I'm concerned about not having the most up to date rom version on my hard drive to flash in case of<>.

Hi,
I have a ZTE A2017G (ZTE A2017GV1.3.0B02), is it possible to do something (root, ...) to recover a Daydream compatibility on this mobile phone ?
Thank you for your help
The rumour is that ZTE will release an Oreo update with Daydream support again included so may pay to be patient and wait.

It is possible, you either a) wait just like @RobboW said, or b) roll back to Nougat, but you'll lose your internal storage and app data if you do. Rolling back is easy, you just have to get the official Nougat package from the ZTE page (get it from ZTE australia or germany) and install it via normal SD card or internal storage method. There might be an O-N rollback package, that'll work, but the normal Nougat packages work too
The Russian site has an O-N rollback specific package alongside the other packages.

I've just been given this phone. It's my first zte phone.Im a little familiar with unlocking and rooting as I came from The Honor 8 years ago. However everything about this phone is quite new to me. Would like some help with the different processes in order to maximize this phone's potential. I've looked here and there to learn more but most resources I've found were quite outdated. Furthermore I have some thermal issues with the phone im hoping to correct. So where and how do i start?
I would recommend to downgrade to Nougat first (if you are using stock ROM, there is a downgrade package by ZTE), then once in Nougat, use Axon 7 EDL tool:

For A2017G firmware
https://www.ztedevices.com/en/supports/a2017gopen-market/?id=018CA84820E74A69B04A3D2BFCF6AC7E
For other versions, (A2017, A2017U), use Web search for ZTE firmware links.
Read carefully ZTE A2017G Upgrade Guide(Through an SD Card).
Extract update.zip from the downloaded zip, put it in root of external SD card. Then use Update option in Settings/Phone.
