I have the exact same problem. When using back button to exit facebook, wallpaper bounces for a sec, but when using home button that doesn't happen. I tried reinstalling facebook, but id didn't help. I had 2 S8+ software updates, and facebook app updates but problem persists.
If anyone knows how to fix this small annoying issue, you're welcome to help.
Best regards
ERMGH...is called live Wallpaper???
Same problem here. It's bad enough that when pressing back, you have to wait for the timeline to scroll all the way back to the top, before you can press back again to exit, then you have to watch the wallpaper quickly zoom in and out.
Funnily enough, my Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 rotates the screen after using Facebook in landscape mode, so it's definitely Facebook having some form of issue with Samsung phones.
Same problem
Must be a laggy animation

no is not live wallpaper is just when pressing back arrow to exit facebook, the background is like moving in and out really fast looks like half second lag something like that.
I had many facebook updates but still not fixed..hopefuly somebody can sort it out for us..i just pray to don`t be a bug in the phone or problem with the soft...
i see
did anyone else noticed that Facebook trends are now showing up in Bixby feed?
Happens to me as well, and I'm using Nova Launcher
same here on Nova launcher with Starfield live wallpaper. looks like the app is running in a different resolution and the wallpaper has to resize... maybe it's something to do with the way the app expands to the weird aspect ratio of the s8...
Any update regarding this problem? Here are the things I've tried - Cache Partition Wiped, Full Factory Reset, Tried All screen resolutions, Increased speed of exit animations. thru the developers menu. But the problem still remains. The screen bounces when you exit the facebook app by pressing the back button. It exits normally if you press the home button.
Another weird thing, if you clear the cache/data from app settings, the facebook app exits normally if you press the back button (when you're not logged on to fb). But, as soon as you login to facebook the problem reappears.
Samsung service centre reflashed the firmware of the phone but the problem is still there. They wont replace the device because the app is third party (albeit comes preinstalled).
Any help would be highly appreciated. It's starting to annoy me.
maybe somebody can report this straight to Samsung...I`ve done it but they say is about facebook to fix it.I report to facebook and they say can`t fix everybody`s problem but only major bugs.
so please everybody report the problem to facebook and to samsung and maybe they release an update
I have the same problem ..hope they will fix it
PS. To rezolve the problem go and set the animation to 0 in developer setings..this work for me..
this is called motion effect for wallpaper!
Never noticed this "problem" before. But I tested this out just now and it didn't happen. Then I thought maybe it's because my Facebook app icon is in a folder and not on the homescreen. So I tried moving it to the homescreen and it started happening to me too. Moved it back to the folder and nothing.
So... I guess this is a workaround for the people that are experiencing this issue.
Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
So I am experiencing the same bugs. I have recorded the glitch on my S8+ and sent Samsung the YouTube link:
The told me to contact Facebook instead.
However, you can see what's actually happening with the video. When closing any app there is a zoom-out effect. Facebook however appears to be using a slide effect instead. When this is done the phone does the zoom-out anyway -- and that's the glitch.
There is still no solution for the annoying glitch. Does anyone else experience this issue?
My GS8+ received update AQG5 today, this appears to resolve the glitch :fingers-crossed:

Hi, is anyone having problems with the facebook panel? when typing username and password, then sliding the phone back to portrait before pressing login; the phone freezes (inc. hardware) also some more freezing during loading of images etc. I haven't seen anyone else with problems, but i have a feeling it maybe to do with the wifi being on, so i'll try it now without wifi and on mobile web.
regards,
Joel
RE:
Definitely an issue with wifi and the facebook panel. I've tried using wifi and facebook panel while sliding before pressing login and every time if freezes, but not problem on mobile web :s.
Joel
Please report the issue here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?p...3#/apps/application.php?id=38125372145&ref=mf
When facebook panel is active on my phone, it constantly locks up
Its weird, It worked fine at first but now it keeps locking up.
I got the same problem, except it is when i'm using mobile data (3g, gprs etc). Happens most often when the fb panel is downloading (rotating circle in upper right is spinning).
Reckon its to do with the data connection. Bit of an irritation really, u never know when its gonna lock up and require a open+battery+cover+and+soft+reset operation..
when the main bubble page opens..there is a mild lag in the friends bubbles floating around..but i have no other problem with facebook app.
mine works fine, but did lock up once a while back
got same rpoblem here. facebook hangs and I have to remove the battery and place it back
locks up here too... and when you push the panel button to try and pick a different panel, it doesn't work either, the whole things just freezes. And as ehajj said, you have to remove the battery at that point. Nothing else works.
I'm new here, got my Xperia yesterday.
Having the same problem with the Facebook Panel.
Phone freezes when trying to change from facebook panel to another panel
Me too... panel freezes when trying to change to another panel.
I've experienced this problem so many times, and wrote it here...but no one answered...no replies...
So, only now I've discovered that I'm not alone after all...
it is notoriously bad for freezing a phone. I would have thought that the new updated CAB for the facebook panel would have fixed it, but it still isnt perfect.
There is an updated facebook panel now (available at the SE website); since installing that, I haven't had the problems with it locking up.
Hello fellow guinea pigs !
I've been waiting ages for thgis phone and i'm preparred to work through the issues rather than send it back. I've noticed it has a few more bugs than my garden shed. Maybe we can list them and togerther suss out if we can overcome them.
1. Won't update/seach or tweet via the twitter app, autocollect email or load facebook pages via 3G. Works fine via wifi though. Updates weather and internet browing is fine on both though.
UPDATE works fine with a T-Mobile sim. Must be a Vodafone issue.
2. Can only update lockscreen background from YOURE pictures, not the HTC background folder. Despite the default being from the HTC File.
there was another, forgot, i'll come back. i've got a few bugs too!
What version of android are you running?
Mine has none of thos bugs all the problem you said are working fine for me.
I don't know if this is correct but my software version is: 1.0.0.A6288 (if that makes sense)
1. No IMAP folder prefix option in mail - well none that I can find!
2. All the custom bookmarks I save are saved with a zoomed in screenshot so they all look stupid on the thumbnail view.
How's everyone's "people" facebook integration?
It has the potential to be so amazing and yet at the moment it seems to be a bit on and off. Just had a scare after sync 100+ contacts doing the "link facebook profile" as all the pictures disappeared.
When you click update I not really sure what it does but it takes forever!
Hopefully fixed by software updates :S?

I know it has a few problems right now, but give the phone a chance, HTC are working on a lot of the initial bugs and I'm sure they'll provide a software update to resolve these issues.
biggest prob ive found is when on a call the screen goes black
now wot button do you press to wake the phone up ? oh the ------- yep you got it no more phone call so how do you wake up the screen while on a call ?
Yeah the disappearing Facebook pictures is really annoying, they disappear in batches though... Each picture persists for about 24 hours before disappearing... Very weird behaviour. You can then re-add them by editing the contact and reapplying their picture "from facebook".
I will be REALLY peeved if they don't fix this in an update... (and soon!!) -- can we just try and determine exactly how many people are experiencing this issue (i.e. is it everyone?) -- and is it just me or does the People list scroll really poorly...? Very jerky, not at all smooth like some of the other lists.
And to add to your bugs -- I have found the "manage applications" to take AGES to load (much of the time) i.e. longest is in excess of 30 seconds, quickest is 3-4 seconds, not quite sure why, as my brother has a Magic and it loads in ~2 secs every time...

I LOVE this phone.
One annoyance: When looking through facebook photos via "Albums" you can do anything other than share a link via email, having a save as or set as button would be awesome!
Pressing and holding the home button to bring up the list of running programs removes the home button association to the senseUI. When you next press the home button it asks whether you want touchflo3d or standard android home.

Found another problem with the HTC mail app...
1. Regardless of what username I put in the smtp setup screen, after it validates the settings it changes the username to my pop username and password so I can't send email - baring in mind I get no sort of error messages very poor!
My word does the mail app need some more time in the oven, considering its just based of the standard Google e-mail app which has none of these setup problems. All they seem to have done is make - let's face it - an already poor app worse!

yer me neither. I didn't know you could hold down home to view that though. Is a good addition! and can always keep Taskiller running so easy to properly quit apps.
hopefully the first firmware update will solve all these issues .
Anyone have the issue where on the homescreen, with the HTC music and calender widget, whenever i paused on a particular screen with them on, the white text would be there for about 2 seconds, then disappear...?
Very odd. Although a soft reset seemed to solve it.
O one more thing, I LOVE the capacitive screen, the keyboard has really been worked on. (would be nice to have a proper " ? ") button though always find myself holding down k to get that which slows down typing time.
Weirdly I can't seem to set the screen brightness! Its greyed out in the display options. When I hook it up to adb on my PC I see lots of "ERROR/HardwareService(60): GetPreferredValue (settings.display.brightness, 102) failed!" messages.
EDIT: I have an unlocked white one BTW

Have you ticked the box directly above it called 'Disable auto backlight'?
once this is ticked, you should be able to manually set the brightness.

Hey guys, I love my HD2 but recently ive been having some terrible issues.
I text alot and it really irritates me that when i go to type a text it takes 30 seconds to allow me to do so, it will just be completely unresponsive for those 30 seconds.
Then also anytime i go to change the keys to " £ $ ? symbols and numbers it jumps the cursor back randomly so im still typing before i realise its typing in completely the wrong place.
Im also having the phone do random things without me letting it, it removed the lock screen by itself which i cannot get back and before that it was automatically changing the background and the weather service would randomly select strange citys?
Hi,
sounds like things have gone askew, maybe if all else fails you can do a hard reset (ensuring you back up any data you need first).

That's the SMS load delay bug that has been discussed a lot on these forums. It occurs whenever you have more than a few messages from a person, and the phone tries to load all the old sms messages from that person, but it does it extremely slow. HTC may or may not be aware of it, the hotfix on their site for SMS doesn't seem to fix it. At the moment, your options are to delete SMS history, or to disable HTC Messaging and using Microsofts default SMS (requires regsistry hacking).

Some people have reported that they got an overly responsive screen, I would suggest you try and replace your phone (or simply return it like I did because you can never trust a SMS message has been sent when you send it with HTC Messaging, another bug without solution). The wether
services choosing odd cities might be because of yet another bug that fails to correctly pinpoint your location for the weather app.

I have this fault, and I think it started after the text messaging hotfix, I am going to uninstall; that fix and see if it solves the problem. Have you installed that fix?
Nope, that didn't fix it - is anyone else experiencing this? When I click on the ""12#" (symbol) hey, the cursor jumps back to a point earlier in the test message. Usually it jumps to the last place that I pressed that button.
This only occurs in the HTC SMS Messaging.
I uninstalled the SMS hotfix and restarted the phone but it's still occuring.
Got the same problem here with the cursor jumping back using "12#". I have installed all latest official HTC updates, but none have solved this problem. Really annoying ;(
Anyone got a workaround or custom fix for this?

You can use myphone to back up and archieve your text messages regularly. This will then delete them off your phone but you can still access them on the web if you want to. Keeps the number of messages low and solves the delay problem.

Me too, i got the same problem!
The last thing i installed was the sim contact update.
But at the moment i dont know if i have the problem before that update..
to type immediately without the 30s delay, simply press send and then no then tap again and you should be able to immediately type.
I do also have the number/symbols bug and it annoys the hell out of me! would love anyone that could find a solution to this!
While generally being quite happy with the Gingerbread update for my Desire Z, clearly there are a few glitches.
First of all, my DZ is a Nordic version with the characters Æ, Ø, Å, Ä and Ö on the hardware keyboard.
On 2.2 before the OTA there was a bug which consistently caused capitalization of Æ, Ø and Å (æøå) when using the hardware keyboard. I don't know about Ä and Ö which are only used in Swedish and not in Danish and Norwegian.
This bug is now fixed using the native keyboard but still present using Scandinavian Keyboard which I have installed from Market. I must admit that I have not contacted the developer to ask if this could be a bug in the app.
Sadly, I have now experienced another bug related to the hardware keyboard after updating to 2.3 - today it happened for the second time.
When typing in Whatsapp and the SMS app (and possibly other apps) using the hardware keyboard pressing "S" will open the SMS app, pressing "G" will open Gmail and pressing "B" will open the built-in browser (not Dolphin HD which is set to default). This is fixed by a reboot (temporarily, it seems). Incidentally, the bug disappeared just now without a reboot while checking if it was also present in Gmail.
The missing pictures bug in HTC's gallery app is still there - still using QuickPic.
Anything that is not listed here - please add to the thread.
EDIT:
As many others I also get the constant Sense restarting thing which is driving me insane!
Also the brightness setting itself to maximum many times.
A handful random reboots. A couple happened with no apps open and doing nothing on the phone - I just happened to notice when it rebooted.
Since monomer888's advise I haven't had another shortcut typing bug happen (as of yet). Thanks!
I'm running software version 2.42.405.2 CL84109

- when exit from a fullscrren app, sometimes the status bar doesnt fit all screen, leting a space (about 10% of the screen space). Expanding the status bar fix it
- Portuguese translation erros remains from the first rom 1.34!!!!!:
Call volume is "Volume de ligação recebida" - shuold be "Volume da ligação"
The tips widget is "Dicar", should be "Dicas"
And a few others, that I don't remember now.
I've only seen some minor UI bugs and most recently, the capital letters typing a text message. That only happens when I try to type too quickly after opening the thread.
I must admit that I havent seen the gallery bug yet but then I don't really use the camera.
Might be worth posting your version number to track regional bugs.
Mine is 2.42.405.2
Brightness will be stuck at max waking from sleep sometimes. Brightness slider has no effect. Fixes itself if you sleep then wake again.
Playback of videos not taken with the camera is very stuttery. THis wasn't the case in 2.2.
I had the missing gallery pictures problem and the brightness problem as well-I have it normally on auto-bright, but sometimes when I wake it or reboot it, it automatically changes to full brightness and I have to select auto-bright again.
Also, Sense restarts after almost anything.
After installing, deleting or moving an app, returning to the home makes sense crash and restart.
I have a gallery bug aswell, can click on some line with pic and wording not shown.
I had once a bug in the unlock pin screen, tapping 7 was actually hitting 4, same if I hold on 7, i see the pressed status of the 4 button onscreen. It happened when i had no charge at all and plugged the phone to the usb port of my running pc. It was also impossible to switch on the phone, i had to plug it out.
Can't remember more right now.

I was wondering if anyone had noticed if there is still this bug or if you could test to check for me:
Start an app in portrait mode, slide out the keyboard for landscape mode, hit the home key. Do your apps/widgets load right away or within a couple seconds? For me it has always been that it will take 15-20 seconds for the screen to load, all I will see is the status bar and my background, no loading screen, no errors, nothing but that. Let me know if you had this prior to updating and also if you have it after, thanks!

I've experienced these as well. Funny thing is, I only experience the 10% bug in Facebook app.
Besides that "desktop loader" and sense-crash problem I got some strange issue with my mobile data connection - searched the forum for a while, haven't found anything, so I'll report it as a gingerbread bug.
Sense displays an activated connection all the time (3g/H - with those two little arrows flashing, thus indicating some traffic) but, unfortunately totally random, it decides to stop working.
Only way to check the data connection is browsing google. Turning off/on fixes the problem temporarily.
In addition, the speed of my mobile connection seem to be capped at some point - typically, depending on my location, it'll stick with 3G instead of H until I reboot. (noticed a remarkable speed difference by browsing the web before and after reboot)
Anyone similar problems?
Desire Z - 2.3.3 Stock
@Kueber;
While i've only seen the sense reload when my phone is uunder a lot of CPU load, I have seen it.
Regarding the data issue, i've only seen it with a certain app, "London Journey" This would retrieve some downloads, but not others. Maybe its a change in the data API relating to the new Download API. Using any other app was fine.
In maybe a slightly related issue, I've noticed that when in GPRS or EDGE, its much more reluctant to go to HSPA, especially when the H signal is low. However, this would normally just drop straight back to G / E anyway so is an improvement in my mind. It also seems quicker to see the HSPA connection has been lost and goes to G / E.
In your case, if location determins 3G rather than H, it could indicate you mobile provider may not have upgraded all their sites yet. If it passes data, then its stuck at 3G.

Hey there, thanks for your answer.
The strange thing is that my previous phone (HTC Legend) always displays a HSDPA connection (speaking of my hometown as testing area). My Desire Z also states a H connection until it get capped somehow. Then I reboot and the little H is back. It is definitely not a display bug, since the speed difference, as already mentioned earlier, is noticeable after rebooting.
Is there some kind of a "user control" in areas that aren't fully covered by a mobile provider, so that my connection may drop due to non using the phone? (It happens normally while phone is sleeping) And is it possible that my Legend, 2.2 stock btw, just isn't very accurate when it comes down to displaying the current connection speed? - to mention your point of a quicker HSDPA loss on gingerbread.
greetings
I also have the Sense constantly restarting. It is really, really, REALLY annoying!
It happens about 50% of the times when I return to the home screen from any app, even the browser.
Has any of you tried uninstalling the Gingerbread update? Don't even know if it is possible, though.
beside the above bugs. the missing pictures bugs also affects my sound files. i can't change my ringtone or alarm tone. it will change back to the default ringtone every few hrs as the sound files went missing on my sd card. has to do a sdrescan to get it back. but few hrs later it will go missing again & ringtone either be empty or back to default.

yeah it drives me crazy too. Any chance to downgrade easily before update?
I've had the exact same bugs as described above, it drove me insane.
after 3 days or so i was fed up with it and downgraded and installed Virtuous 2.0. the bugs are gone and i've got a stable, rooted phone.
has anyone tried to contact HTC about these bugs? I myself was too lazy to write an email..
After getting the Android 7 September 2017 security patch on my LS997 (Sprint V20), I am having a recurring issue that is driving me nuts. Any menu I bring up that overlays the rest of the screen (think swipe-down menu or Messenger chat head) is "minimizing" on its own randomly. For example, I swipe down to get the menu icons and now it's scrolling back up on its own before I touch anything. Or, I'll be using Messenger's chat head function to open a message and, in the middle of reading or even typing, it just closes back to the chat head. It's super aggravating if I'm in the middle of typing when it closes because then I hit another icon that opens some app I had no intention of opening.
It doesn't seem like it's doing this to anything that opens in its own separate window, just these sorts of menus that overlay anything else that's already up. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on a fix? I'd appreciate the help!
This is also occurring for me after the update. Extremely aggravating. Happening for family members with V20's too.

Sorry to hear it's happening to you too but glad I'm not going crazy thinking it's just me. Seems like this is an issue with the "draw over other apps" setting, perhaps? I've submitted reports to LG and Facebook, though this is happening with the stock OS swipe-down menu as well. LG got back to me and suggested I try putting the phone in Safe Mode and seeing if the issue persists. During my testing, this did not occur again while in Safe Mode. Upon returning to regular mode, the issue continued. LG stated that behavior suggests it's not part of the system and may be due to an installed app. I've tried uninstalling Messenger updates but it won't allow me to use it without running the most current version. I went into app settings and turned off "draw over other apps" for every app but Messenger but the issue persists.
Short of doing a factory reset, I'm not sure what else to do to get this to go away. Help would be appreciated!
