I have a Galaxy S7 Edge and since last week the OTG function stopped working, I cannot plug any usb device into my smartphone. I'm almost sure this isnt a software problem, since all the otg troubleshooting apps says that my smartphone has otg support but dont recognize the usb gadget. When I connect it to a PC, I can transfer data normally.
I'm not sure if this issue is related to the water resistance failure(i dropped my phone in water and the resistance failed, the phone restarted and the capacitive buttons stopped working for a week).

So my Note 3 suddenly doesn't want to charge via any of my reliable micro usb cables... My usb 3.0 cables charges it perfectly fine. Yes I'm rooted and have been going great, just randomly a couple days ago my phone was just dead even though plugged in via micro usb.
Any thoughts?
sounds like a port issue on the phone. its not a year old yet so it if it is you should be able to get another one.
if it were me i would need to for sure it wasnt somehow software related and would try a factory reset and see what happens since it can do wonders sometimes.
Question - have you tried plugging it in while it is turned off to see if it charges with the USB 2 cable?

Today my edge+ started to pop up randomly USB connector connect and USB connect or disconnect... But i dont have any cable plugged in! Already made a restart and a wipe cache. Dont want to do a Factory reset

Update..it stopped charging..tried different cables and no luck..WTF!?!? Always with the official cable..no drop..nothing..really unhappy!!!
Same happened with my Galaxy S2 before. It is due to a faulty charging port. You need to get the charging changed.
I have the phone for about a month...that means..a new phone..already with faulty parts..a top of the line..a flagship one..€700...

My first upgrade to MM my JDS ODAC (USB audio) worked for a while then a month later its no longer being recognised.
Whenever I plug it in, phone will wake up but does nothing. Other stuff like keyboards, pendrives and HDD still works.
The ODAC is fine, I tried it on my Surface Pro and desktop, all's well.
After this recent update (includes June security update) which was supposed to "improve performance and stuff" broke the OTG entirely, now nothing works. Did wipe the cache and a full system reset but it still isn't working.
Now when I plug stuff in, phone doesn't even bother to wake up.
Does your device still charge properly? If it does then there is a chance that your USB OTG cable is damaged.
Yes it charges fine, I'll get another cable to try but sadly won't be back home till a month later.
I have the same problem. my note 4 (N910C) charges fine, but will not transfer any data. I bought 2 extra usb boards and it still doesn't work.. i wonder if it's because of the root i used.. I'm planning to try to re-root it and see if it'll fix things.
Hello Guys, I have a Note 4 here, which had two seconds contact with clear Water. The Screen and the Camera broke. I've tested the function of the Phone with an MHL Cable and i've got a Picture, so I ordered a new Screen/Camera and replaced it.
The Phone is working without any Problem excluding the USB Connectivity. I can charge my Phone without any Problems but I cant connect it to any PC. I've tried 6 Cables on 3 PC's and 1 Tablet but it is only charging.
I activated the Dev Settings, switched from Charging only to MTP back and forth and I get still no Notification in the Status Bar.
My USB Stick with Mini USB wont be detected either.
So I ordered a new Charging Port Flex, connected it with the Mainboard, attached a USB Cable to it but still nothing.
The Phone is charging without any Problem, only USB Connections are broken. Is it the Android 6.0.1 Update or the Mainboard broken?
Sorry for my bad English, it isnt my native Language.
Edit : Odin Mode isnt working either, so I think its a Mainboard fault.

Yep, done that right after the Water contact.
If it's not the motherboard it could be a dead short between pins 2 & 3 on the USB.
I replaced the whole USB Board with Flex.

It will be the hardware issue.
Probably you may gonna need to replace your usb pcb

I have this problem, it seems to be caused by a faulty motherboard. Does the IR blaster still work?
@a602820922 @pedodroid Its the motherboard... I replaced it since my cousin has one with a broken screen and everything is ok, the ir blaster and everything else is working its just slow charging and not recognized on pc, im thinking to sell it or swapping with another phone, i had enough with the issues of this good phone.
