I have similar issue. I get reminder on the lock screen( not using always on display) for a calendar event and it would go away after what ever screen timeout setting is, then it comes right back. It would repeat this forever until calendar event is dismissed.
Is this what you get?

Yes! Don't like the idea of having screen on all night should a reminder pop up

Did you try going to settings then notifications then scroll all the way down to the bottom and select notification reminder and then select off (it is off by default on my phone and I don't have your issue).
Mine is already off, hmm.

Did you setup as new phone or restore from a backup. In my very recent experience restoring from backup causes all sorts of issues. My battery life was not bad but was not anywhere near my wife's S8 (more or less similar usage patterns). I would be on 20% whilst she would still have more than 50% remainig charge. I finally decided to take the plunge and reset the phone and do a fresh install. The result is a battery that lasts twice as long as before.
My 2 cents.
Is it from the Samsung reminder app? You can try do not disturb mode. But before you do that go into Settings -> App -> App manager -> Reminder -> Notifications
Make sure Set as priority is turned off.
Also try changing, from the same menu as above, On lock screen from hide content to do not show notifications, if that applies.
But it may not help too much, looking into the permissions it says "Prevent phone from sleeping" under Other app capabilities...
I know it's a pain but if you set a reminder, it makes sense that the screen will stay on for the fact that it should catch your eye and cause you to look at why it's on, thus reminding you about whatever you needed to do as soon as possible. Would be nice to disable that function for those that do not want this though.

The reminders are from what I have set in or via Google. I understand what you are saying but the AOD could just as easily have the reminder versus the entire screen on (semi-bright I might add) for the entire time until it's acknowledge. As soon as I touch the phone, I'd expect the reminder to pop right back up---every other phone I've had did this including my old Galaxy S4.......was just hoping there was a timer we could set or at least limit the time the screen stays on with the reminder

I bought an LG G2 yesterday after changing my mind and not buying a Note 3 instead. It's the T-Mobile version in black (fingerprint magnet, no white ones in stock unfortunately). I'm coming from a Galaxy S2, and everything feels amazing compared to it. There's one thing I don't like, and that I can't figure out... When I get a text on my LG G2, the screen lights up, every single time. I'm a pretty heavy text user, and I average about 10,000 texts a month. Sometimes I'm in a lecture and I can't text back or use my phone, but it's sitting in my pocket with the screen on wasting my battery and opening up all kinds of apps. How do I disable this? Thanks.
I know you can change text apps that have this option.

That's what I tried, but there's nothing about the screen in there.
I have notifications enabled, new message pop-up enabled, preview enabled, notification sound (text ringtone), vibrate set to always, and repeat alert set to every 2 minutes. Besides those settings, there's nothing, and none of them control the screen unfortunately.

Cant you just on click "notifications display message notification" ??
I'm using the app SMS pop-up to manage all my SMS notification.
The stock app has it's notifications all turned off.
As for SMS popup, there is a setting to keep the screen off when SMS is received.
Well.. I don't like the screen to turn on as well (I don't use any lock screens) and also, I like the pop up feature.

Yeah, there were quite a few bugs with 1.2.8. I had to send a full bug report to Motorola, as did others.
Some issues included:
Notifications not working with certain apps
AN failing to wake the screen when device was moved
AN failing to wake the screen when a notification arrived
AN failing to open an app from the AN screen

I turned off active display because any movement and it would turn on the clock and catch my eye which is very distracting and annoying, anyway to disable that without disabling the whole feature?
Mine was working perfect, did a factory reset to try and fix the high android OS usage and now it's not working. This is very annoying.

I did that. Then remembered I took the Navigation buttons out via the Build.prop and had a hell of a time trying to reinstall everything without them. I use LMT Pie Controls so I had to reinstall them through the Play Store before I could reinstall all my other apps. I then took LMT Pie Controls and made them flashable so that the next time I do a factory reset I can just reinstall them via recovery.
What irks me most is that half my notifications aren't working a week after buying the phone. When they worked the day I got it. Gmail doesn't show up, 1Weather doesn't show up, the battery no longer shows up. Outlook does and Messaging does. I know Motorola said there was a problem with 1Weather not working properly but the day I set my phone up a little over a week ago it worked. Now all of a sudden it doesn't, and Gmail should work but doesn't.
Also, does the image verification thing for the forum ever go away? It's kind of a PITA to remember it's there when I post. Guys, I'm not a robot. Seriously.
I turned off the sleep function of active display and now my notifications are working. I haven't tried turning it back on to see if it would work but just something to try for those who are having an issue.

Turn the phone face down or cover the proximity sensor face-up.
Just a suggestion. When some apps get updated like line app and some other apps, they get unchecked in that active notification select apps menu/setting. I have to go back and manually check them again to show up on active display.

Seems we should have a thread with bugs and if anyone knows how to fix them, solutions since we finally have Lollipop now.
First bug I've encountered is in Google Voice.
If you open the advanced settings, two of the options are grayed out that should be available... they allow google voice to hear you if you have an app open, or the screen turned off, and also to allow you to train it.
If you reboot your phone, you WILL have access to these settings for a short period of time before it dies again. just retain it then.
Voice search works if you have a homescreen open, or if you have google search open, but the additional functionality is busted.
I also searched, and it looks like Sprint users ran into the same thing when they got lollipop a month ago.
Where the hell is the samsung app store? Kind die for Samsung keeps crashing too! Wtf?
Its called either galaxy gifts, or galaxy apps.
I'd just clear the cache on it though instead of turning it off.. they offer some apps with exclusive add ons, and some freebies you might want.
Also, I remembered something mentioned a few days ago.. go into application settings and turn off dm-ignite.
(Its a browsing snoop app that collects your data, and send it to Verizon so they can share it with marketing partners so they can serve you advertisements in browsers and applications.)

Go to Widgets and add the Galaxy widget to get to the Samsung store.
Not a bug, but it seems like one... this game is impossible! Has anyone had any luck with it? (Settings - About Phone - 5 taps on android version to get the lollipop logo, then swipe to get the game)

When using the power button to lock the device, there is an ever slight delay. The screen goes black but I can still accidentally open an app when setting it down. I did the OTA without factory reset and then ended up doing a factory reset. Still there. It reminds me of what used to happen on some roms back in the SGIII days. It's not a deal breaker and if that's the biggest issue, I can live with it.

Now that is odd. I have not seen that option since I had my Galaxy S5. Thought it was a Note thing. To confirm, it is not there and was never there on my Note 4. Wonder if it's because I purchased from Samsung rather than Verizon. Seems Samsung would include their own Essentials app though. All Verizon apps were present.

Do you have weather bug that displays the current temperature in the notification bar? That seems to count as a notification so as long as that's on no pedometer.

No I keep my notification bar clear on the left. I think there is a way to set the priority level of weather bug notifications that will keep them off the lock screen. Seems I did it for play store on my S5 as I hated the lock screen notifications for app updates. I just can't remember how I did it.

Changing priority either blocks the notifications on the bar all together, allows them, or leaves them saying "sensitive information blocked". I don't think there is anyway around it.
My Note 4 seemed very slow at first after the update, so I entered the recovery menu and cleaned the cache partition, and that seems to have fixed it.
Swappiness == 130?
I installed on 4/3. BOAF. I didn't factory reset, I did clear the system cache (several times). Pretty much everything seems great! For a while- except, it is burning the hell out of my battery/CPU (which 4.4.4 never did) and I notice (via OS Monitor) that kswapd0 is running A LOT. Even when I am showing 450mb free, kswapd0 is using 6-10%. Often it goes up to 23% and my battery lasts 1/2 what it did before. I've rebooted a number of times, no change.
So, I started looking into kswapd0 and one parameter that is important is 'swappiness'.
I checked : cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
And it says : 130
Yes, 130! That's pretty insane - the standard default is usually around 60 (and could stand to be even less, frankly on a 3gb device like this). But anyhow, 130 is causing major issues!
Has anyone been able to get the advanced calling to work? I activated it but the option to video call is grayed out? Any ideas?

Hi,
The notification led is only working randomly...
Sometimes when i get an sms (missed call...) the led is blinking, sometimes is doesn't
When it doesn't i push the on/off button to power the screen and see the 'bell' having a notification (as i did know of course ).
So when i push the on/off button once more to power off the screen, the led is blinking as it should have...
Anyone has this issue too ?
Install glimpse notification and will always see led notifications blinking at missing event(whatever call,SMS,email, viber)

You even have option for double tap to sleep from lock screen if you want with this app.

Keep in mind that one more reason for using it not only at Axon but previous phone is that I have the option every time receive any kind event the screen wake up automatically and stay on for 5 second and then turn off automatically and begins the led always blinking until pick up and see the event.
If you having the device at jeans pocket there's a option not wake up the screen but only blinking the led notification.
Many manufacturers don't have that option that's why for me is must have app.

Yes it's bit of annoying but for that bug or better a bad ZTE feature the only solution is third party lock screen replacement like next lock screen.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.next&hl=el
It works great also with glimpse notification.(only the double tap to sleep feature not working with next lock screen)
Or just we have to wait until ZTE make the bell optional.

Glimpse notification is a help but next lock screen for me it wasn't (not always working correctly too)
Now i am using a simple app called NiLS Lock screen :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roymam.android.notificationswidget&hl=nl
It is very simple and effective. No layover over the existing lock screen, so another swipe to go to the stock lock screen is not necessary.
Also you can tap left on a message to delete it, go to the app. etc...
The good thing f.e. is when you delete a message like gmail with this app, the message is also effectively gone in gmail, so you do not have to do this action twice in gmail. For other apps the same benefit i think.
Just give it a try too

I always have an Android and a iPhone. Over the years I have found the iPhone to work better for me. I do at times pick up the Android and quickly remember why I left it on the desk. I just bought a 6T hoping many of my concerns had been resolved with the latest version of Android. Here are a few of the issues I have that do not happen with my iPhone, if you have any ideas please let me know.
- Proximity sensor not working all the time. Cheek selects features/apps on/off while on call.
- Gmail pushes only sometimes. Not consistent. Open app and receive all the emails at once. Notify every time selected.
- Display unreadable in sunlight. (likely no solution other than crank the display up)
- WiFi turns off when screen sleeps. Turn screen on and all missed notifications happen.
- Notifications on ambient screen are so short you can’t read them in time. Any way to lengthen the time?
- Facebook Messenger while in open conversation has notification pop ups regarding the conversation when in the conversation.
- Music quality from Spotify flat. Normalize volume off already.
Any help would be appreciated.

Gmail is apparently notorious for weird push notifications on Pie. You can try going into Settings>Battery>Battery optimization and turning it off for Gmail, though I don't know if that will help with push notifications or drastically change your battery life. Otherwise, a lot of people have (reportedly have) good success with the BlueMail app. I use Inbox, and it hasn't been a problem for me.
Display: Is your display set to adaptive brightness? The best way would probably just be to turn to max brightness when you need it.
Wifi: I believe Settings>Wifi>Wifi>Wifi preferences>Turn on Wifi automatically should fix this issue.
Notifications: Are we talking about the notifications waking the screen when they come in? Or just the length of the time the ambient display stays on? Because I don't think you can change the latter.
FB Messenger: I use Messenger Lite and I don't have this problem. Boyfriend is a recent iPhone convert, and he says it's more like the Messenger on iOS than normal Messenger. Who knows?
The funny thing is mail on iOS is even worse when it comes to push email notifications for me..I get all my push notifications on Gmail on pie..so ymmv I guess.

Agree but Gmail on iOS is much better than on Android. It pushes immediately, every time and allows for HTML email signatures.

Ah yeah you might be out of luck on that one then. People have been having problems with that for a while, so best bet might just be to use a diff app for better push notifications. Might be because Pie doesn't allow you to toggle that option for Gmail!
