So yeah, I smoke too much crack, but am I dreaming that my battery life has diminished since the flash to the latest Tmo ROM or are other people getting this too?
Yes, I have done a search and I see a smatterng of posts here and there and no I did not take a baseline, but I thought to get some opinions.
It takes a couple of days (for the radio in particular) to settle in. I'd be willing to be that after a few battery cycles, you'll be back to normal again.... errr.... well, you might not be, if you were really on crack, but your phone should be normal again.
I hope after a couple of days mine gets better...it drains a lot faster now.

you could always try different radios and see which one works better for you as far a battery life goes. If you're not going to use your 3g for a while just turn it off, and that will extend your battery life by a lot. 3g eats battery real fast.
Ditto for me!
I am definitely running into the same issue and am seriously considering rolling back unless the stupid radio settles down soon. Is there a way to roll back to the previous ROM? The only major advantage the new ROM has for me is the updated SWYPE keyboard...
I am in an office for a good part of the day where I get mostly E and sometimes G. I notice that it drains the fastest when I am connected to my Wifi Network.
That may seem normal, but I swear that it is draining faster than with the last ROM.
Mind you, I was one who had virtually no issues with th last ROM save for the pink spot in the pictures.
Last nigt I tried to play a game as a test...low energy consumption-Yacht II (Yahtzee basically). At the end of each game which took about 1.5 minutes I lost 1-2 full percent of the battery. That seems excessive.
....so I smoked some crack.

lol.... Time flies when you're smoking crack! That might have something to do with it.... could just be your perception. Crack make you paranoid! Judgement also sucks when you're cracked out.
Try sobering up for a day or 2, do some battery tests, flash back to the older rom, do some tests with that one. Then you'll know for sure... then smoke some more crack and let us know the results. lol
Back to normal battery life, finally!
Ever since I upgraded to CHT 1.8, my battery life has gone back to normal. I guess the updated TMo Rom didn't play very nicely with CHT 1.7.1.
Hi there folks! So, the galaxy s2, it's an awesome phone, the best i ever had, probably as powerful as a decent netbook. almost impossible to make it lag, the screen is awesome etc... but there's a serious drawback, which is making me want to go back to the iphone4, the battery life. i know, there are bazillions of threads about it, but come on, all people reply to those threads are suggestions, almost placebo like. e.x. "use juice defender", "turn off wifi, gps..", come on, these are not solutions. even with minimal usage, i can barely get a day out of my samsung, with heavy usage, i have to charge it 3 times a day, and considering that it uses a stupid and extremely low current limiter through the chipset (around 500 mili amps?) it takes 3 hours to charge it. for comparison, i have a asus transformer with the keyboard dock, hell, this makes me even more sad with the galaxys, as the transformer, lasts a whole day (at least 14-15hrs) at 70% brightness while gaming.
so, what the problem samsung? I'm using Ninphetamine's kernel with lightening rom (all up to date), i tried other kernels, other roms, but all of them have this issue, even when everything was stock, a day of minimal usage. here are some screens, android os is consuming most of the battery, does the section "android os" also include the kernel battery consumption?
is there a extended version of the android built in battery usage, a more specific one?
Works fine for me. Get a grip and read around. Easily get 3 days with average use.

I hope you wipe battery in between your rom flashes...
I am Heavy user and it lasts me around 13-15 hours and am on stock not rooted.
Besides was curious How heavy you use it cause If you are like sitting whole day with it you are better off on the computer I guess

If you are using ninphetamine and an android 2.3.4 ROM and still having battery issues, it's your problem. You have an app installed that drains battery, this is not a suggestion, this is fact. Do a completely clean install of an original dev rom, remove google latitude if it's included (known to drain battery).
If you aren't making it through atleast a full day of heavy use with that setup, then it's a hardware problem and you should RMA it.

well no, i never wipe my battery, why would i ? battery drainage by android os seems to be consistent. well just in case its a magic trick, i'll try it now
The transformer is a tablet, of course it has space for a huge battery extended by another huge battery in the keyboard. Perhaps you have a faulty battery that's not keeping charge well because I get nearly a whole day on a single charge, med to heavy use. And juice defender is a legitimate program that actually works, its not a placebo. Get a grip and stop blaming legitimate programs, or else no one will take you seriously. Read around, try some different roms, but it might just be a bad battery, if you have warranty, get the battery replaced. It couldn't hurt to try.

Well threes your problem. Its not a magic trick, its fact. Do it every time you install a new rom Also, as I said before, it might be a hardware problem.
15 hours off charger, 53% battery left, 1 hr voice calls, 1 hr screen on. Not bad I'd say. I've maintained everything on except bluetooth. I have google talk, and trillian, whatsapp, facebook, tuenti, push email and a couple other things going on in the background like twitter and such, and I couldn't be happier. Well, if it could make me breakfast . I'd say you're doing something wrong. Stock, 2.3.3 not rooted. I'm just a normal geek joe!

So far I've used VillainROM with ninphetamine which gave great battery life, and MIUI with the kernel included which is also pretty good (not as good as villainrom with ninphetamine though). As daily ROM I use MIUI though since I love the interface and theming options.

I wouldn't suggest Cyanogen at this time, it works pretty well but it's not a stable or near final release. Also you can't use ninphetamine with Cyanogen without breaking things since ninphetamine was made for stock ROMs.
Battery wipe DOES help. I can say that with confidence cause I have seen the effect.

Like everyone said: Wipe Battery Stats, and/or switch to VillainRom. I dont think Lite'ning produces the best battery life in my experience. I couldnt stand the rom.
And one of the good things about Android phones is that you can buy an extended battery from ebay. They're quite affordable as well
I get crazy battery life on Litening rom. You need to do factory reset before or after installation.
Hi all,
I just come with this Screenshots to know your opinion on the consumption of my s5. Honestly Im jealous of those people getting 4,5hours of SOT in a full charge. I believe I can barely achieve 2h. My phone is rooted, de bloated with smart debloater and uses Greenify (which has not provided me a noticeable gain).
I've seen a very big drain just after plugging off the phone (like 5 or 6%) in two hours without using it. Also everything I unlock the phone the drain is very fast. So idle state seems no to be the cause
What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
By the way, while writing this post I've lost 5% of charge.

Need a new battery I think and with the battery you gotta keep it cool, don't charge you phone and use it when its under 20 ℅. And the hotter the battery gets the faster it will discharge and if your charging at the same time the CPU will work harder to charge the battery and do whatever you want to do with your phone making it a double whammy wearing out your battery much faster than normal. You not supposed to let our batteries to go below 20 %. Well you can but don't use it at the same time your charging.

Thank you very much for your information. Any suggestion about a new battery? I've seen this one.
I've just plugged off from 100% and I got a battery drain of 5% just by speaking 15 minutes (no hand-free). I think it's a very big battery drain for just a small talk. I think that confirm your hypothesis of the wasted battery.
Is there any way to know the real capacity of the battery I currently have? It is just to know how far it is from its original performance.
I've checked on Go Power Master app and it claims 2520 (at 90%) mah in my battery. Is this confident? If so, I shouldn't expect a big improvement buying a new battery. What about using other roms or making a factory reset?.

How old is your battery? Mah rating and the rate it discharges are different you can discharge 2600 mah batter in an hour or 3 days depending on use and environment and conditions. Like I said before the hotter your battery gets the faster the disharge go same with the cpu the hotter it gets the more power it demands from the battery. And if your battery get under 20% fast charging comes. Into play as well which is bad for the battery as well.
If your dropping off that fast I think is a defective battery or over clocked cpu settings. My s5 did he same till I bought a new battery I last 8-12 hours of heavy use now compared to 4 hours. With a new battery I suggest a higher capacity but same dimensions as the old one they can be expensive but a bigger battery will damage your phone over time.
I have a 5600mah battery now by 5he way.

Oh that battery looks OK I can't read the language lol just make sure its not refurbished or used and check out if u can refund it or not lol
My battery is from October 2015. It's the original one that came with the phone
Here is last report:
Despite performance is not the worst, do you think the difference with a new one is very big?
Back in my S3 Mini days I had to change the battery and the difference was huge for it. A year ago I replaced my S5's battery for the first time (I own my black beauty since february 2015) and I remember that I saw an improvement in battery life and in performance a bit as well.
A trick: take out your battery and put it on a flat surface (table or whatever) and try to spin it. If it spins freely, buy new one for sure.
I'd advise you to also update from KitKat to Marshmallow as that made my phone brand new but I see you're on 6.0.1 already so nevermind
I myself lose the first ~10% of my charge in one hour or even less...while not doing literally anything with my screen off. So yeah, maybe it's gonna be time for another replacement in a few months
By the way I tried Greenify today. The drain was far worse than when I didn't have it installed lol. Android Marshmallow is finally that one guy who's capable of handling himself alone without helpers like Greenify so try without it, it eats up your CPU anyway (as minimal as it can be, it still does).
With 3G always enabled I can get between 3 and 4 hours of screen on time (no games ofcourse) and around, idk, 10 hours total time until it hits below 10% and asks for some juice.
This^ was simply impossible with android 4.4.2 on the same phone so 6.0.1 really impressed me a lot as I had awful memories of Lollipop (that's why I didn't update for so long actually).
To sum up: try all the software ways of extending your battery life - with/without Greenify, uninstall/disable/optimise certain apps like Facebook and Spotify (says they slow down my phone), change ROMs, change kernels, change settings and if nothing works get a new battery.
PS: When Samsung go back on track and put a removable battery + all old features in a new flagship, I'm switching to that (S9, S10, SX, whatever xd). Newer phones got water cooling (~30 degrees while gaming, S5 gets 36-40C).
Thank you very much for your long answer. Honestly I don't trust too much battery savers. I've tried in the past many of them with no visible results. In fact greenify has never shown me any benefit. Notwithstanding, in this specific case, I've seen that hibernating "mi fit" (from xiaomi) I can appreciate a considerable improvement (5-10% of gain). I own a mi band and apart from keeping Bluetooth on (which seems not to be a big drainer) mi fit abuses of this connection. In fact "tools & mi band" seems to be more energy efficient with the connection to the mi band.
In any case I'll order a new one as it is not normal to have the drain for 100 to 90 being off and idle
I've changed old battery for a new one and I haven't seen any considerable improvement. After it, I've done a factory reset and a battery calibration (using the app on the store that requires root) and nothing... Any suggestion? I have the feeling that new battery is OK but somehow my phone is unable to take advantage of its performance...

If it gets fixed after firmware reinstall then it's a software bug. If it gets fixed after changing the battery then it's a hardware bug. If it doesn't get fixed after trying both things then it's black magic :s
Also try to clear dalvik-cache and cache and do factory reset before and after flashing.

OK I'll go ahead with this. Good guide to reflash stock rom?
I'll do several factory resets to see if it helps, but I start to think that it's black magic
Thanks
Sorry for the delay in replaying but I've made several attempts with not specially good results.
Now I'm getting 24 hours battery with 2h SOC for WhatsApp and browsing. Furthermore, I use Bluetooth for the miband.
The battery drop from 100 to 90 still remains. Maybe it's smoother but significant.
I've changed battery, changed roms (several times wiping everything). I've tried battery calibration app from rooted devices. I've tried the calibration procedure for non root devices (here I think I've obtained a little bit of improvement) but in general I have the feeling my phone is not detecting well the capacity of the battery (either new or old). Any tip? Advice?. Could it be the charging circuit? Can it be fixed? Should I keep doing calibrations more often to see if I grasp more capacity little by little?
Thanks for your time and help

I also thought the same...But I didn't install any new apps other than Pixel Launcher.... And Now...I Uninstalled it.... Still facing the same problem.
I guess it is just the horrible LG software. I also experienced extreme battery drain in standby and could not figure out why.
I decided to flash the Resurrection Remix ROM onto my LG and look at that... Amazing battery life with the same usage and same apps installed.
My battery now drops 2% over night. With stock it was 9-10%.
I know it might not be the answer you are looking for. All I am saying is: maybe the Oreo update will help for Stock solutions.
There are reports out there that show amazing battery life with stock but they often disable a lot of services which in my eyes is not the purpose of a phone. Other than that... Try your luck with Greenify or something like that (could be hard to reach real results here without root though).

Hmm.... But I hav paid 760$ to buy this phone.... Why Should I settle for less ? If its a budget phone...then Ok...but this is a Flagship Device.... I am going to take this to Service Center. These Battey Problems are irritating me.
As far as I remember, that idle battery drain is known issue in Android 7.0 and our precious G6's have 7.0 and probably will never get 7.1 which has this problem fixed, LG rarely releases incremental updates, mostly only releases new devices with newer software (V30 has 7.1, Q6 also has 7.1 and their battery life is great).
7.0 bug causes "Phone Idle" thingy popping up in battery stats almost always on top, sucking up to 1000+mAh of battery in my case so I have to charge the phone almost every single day which is a little bit frustrating considering phone's battery and that it lies unused for around 8 hours every day as I have to leave my phone in locker room when I'm at work. This is the only thing that I hate in this phone.
We have to wait for Oreo... which also makes me a little bit nervous because 8.0 also has many bugs... Yes, 8.1 is right behind the corner but that strange LG update policy will probably halt our phones on 8.0...

Being able to have numerous apps for different purposes downloaded on your phone is what makes our smartphones so good. However, there may be a few that are resulting in rapid Android OS battery drain., without you even knowing about it.
Try These
Stay in Power Saving Mode
Reduce Display light
Try using the App Greenify, helps you identify which apps are causing battery drain, and put these into hibernation when you are not using them, to stop them from lagging your device and leeching the battery

We have to wait for Oreo... which also makes me a little bit nervous because 8.0 also has many bugs... Yes, 8.1 is right behind the corner but that strange LG update policy will probably halt our phones on 8.0...

Sorry to burst your bubble early, but October Security Update won't change a thing. I've had it for a while and phone idle is still on top of my list for battery draining.
*fingers crossed for Oreo to fix this "bug"*
