Custom Rom Question - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Okay so I have a rooted s7 edge G935A on QC2 with android 7.0.
Now my question is, is there a way to flash a custom rom with flashfire and maybe flash a kernal or something with Odin. Or how would that all work out? If you could tell me or link me to a guide for this that would be appreciated.
Thank you.

As far as I know the custom rom can only be in flash via twrp. And it looks like your bootloader is locked. So there is no twrp for that type (for now)

Do you think anyone could make a custom ROM for the G935A and make it so we could flash it with flashfire? I know there is the echoed rom but that is only for marshmallow and I'm on 7.0. Is there any developers I should talk to about making a nougat rom, or should I just wait.

I'm already rooted but the ROM that is shared in that post is for T-Mobile, I'm on AT&T wouldn't that cause problems? I'm also on QC2 not QC1... Also thank you for fast replies bro.

and what is KNOX? 0x0? 1x0?
My previous Smartphone(LG-D838) has a poor a android development.

"My previous Smartphone(LG-D838) has a poor a android development"... and the NEW one too
For recovery, you can use the hlteskt/n900s version, which is compatible.
Unfortunately, there are no custom ROMs for your variant,
yeah, most likely i have this really BEST luck with me for smartphones that i really do need to suffer.
Darklord S6 ROM was compatible to my phone, but the CM12 has no reply if compatible with my model.
is there a way for me to use CM 12 since my previous phone also has no update for CM12

If you use CM, or any AOSP-based ROM, you won't be able to do voice calls or text messages. That's because of how the LGU+ network is set up in Korea, and your variant is built specifically for that network.

I don't know about Darklord, but I doubt it will work. Make sure you have a backup and stock ROM ready, if you do try it, though.

what is bootloader anyway?
i installed CF autoroot and installed CWM n900s version using flashify.
i cant go on recovery at first using vol up +home+power then i use flashify reboot on recovery then it went bootloop.
after that i installed again the cwm n900s version kk via odin3 and it went ok but the system.ui crashed when i turn on my device.
i go to cwm recovery and wipe cache hoping to fix the problem then the system.process(i think) not responding and displaying black only.
i really want to fix the phone without wiping or factory resetting but panic comes first to me.
now it is ok.
Thanks, just sharing my really scary exp. its my first bootloop.

SM-910S Problems in rooting and also flashing a stock rom

Hello,
I recently trying to root my device. I try different methods like Cf-auto root even installing a zip on recovery method but both gives me a bootloop that requires me to reflash my stock firmware. My device is currently running lollipop. Also I can only flash stock firmwares lollipop same version or higher but not a downgrade like lollipop to kitkat because I try to downgrade it to kitkat and odin give me a red fail indicator and on my device downloading mode said SW Rev Check Fail fused 2 Binary 1. Can someone determine the problem or is there something that can i do?
Thank you so much !

You should search this forum, there are some thread already discussing about this problem + solution.
You most likely are using 5.1.1 Stock Lollipop which is "can't" be rooted unless you flash custom PERMISSIVE kernel.

No one discussed about this note 4 variant regarding to my problem. My note4 is SM-910S the korean one. I think it blocks everything i can't even root or reflash it to kitkat stock firmware.

First : Have you tried flashing custom permissive kernel?
It's a known problem to root ANY 5.1.1 Lollipop regardless of handset

I don't use custom ROM but I do use custom kernel. However, the dev requested it not to be shared (I think he also isn't an XDA member). Sorry I can't help.

Is there any TWRP or other recovery for SM-G930V

Seems like the only recovery is see in TWRP is for the edge or international versions of the model, so I'm having a hard time adding a recovery. Can anyone help??? I'd greatly appreciate it.
No...the phone just got root and the bootloader is really locked down. No one saw us getting root, so who knows what can happen.

FlashFire is the compatible recovery. There are two ROMs for the Verizon S7 Edge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/development I have personally verified that the PlayStore ROM posted for the Edge will work on the S7 flat.
I should mention that you need to be on the U firmware prior to flashing those ROMs. The ROM also installs the G935 engineering kernel, so you need to flash the G930 boot kernel with Odin afterwards. I can make a write-up later if there is any interest.
I can even modify his ROM with the correct build.prop and kernel for the G930V.
How's the stability and finctionality?
A guide would be awesome. How do I get it up and running lol.

Sounds interesting, don't know if the different firmware/kernel would run better on our Verizon variant.

If you intend to root it, then you still need to use the same engineering kernel. I will say that before I rooted the U-firmware, the phone was much smoother and faster in stock form than the stock Verizon firmware.

Not just the kernel alone. Flash the U firmware and you will be able to select any band, as long as the radio is in the phone for it.

Thanks. Is it the G930U or G935U firmware that's needed? I'm guessing the Edge U firmware is what you're speaking of.. is it a simple flash? I'm running PE1 rooted at the moment.
930u for flat 935u for edge. Just flash entire image over. Shouldn't need root

OK I just accessed service mode on the PE1 firmware.. no Band 12 or 17 option. I'll flash the 930U firmware and attempt again to see if there's a difference at all.
Also, is rooting the 930U firmware the same as the PE1 firmware process?
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

I flashed the G930U firmware and was able to receive Band 17 successfully. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction with the U firmware!
Did you flash the 930U firmware on a flat S7 or edge Verizon variant device. I have a rooted Verizon device and using it on T-Mobile.
Version 6.0.1 July patch.
Can you pm or reply here on how you managed thanks
G930v custom recovery pass dm verity
Can someone point me in the direction of a thread to install custom recovery on the Verizon varient S7? Say hypothetically I could pass the dm-verity check.
How would I go about implementing the pass to install a custom recovery.

SM-G935U Question ....

.
I have been looking around and reading a lot about this model phone G935U. I am wanting to run a custom ROM on it,
but I would need a custom recovery in order to flash the ROM correct ??
I do not think there is a custom recovery ( TWRP ) at all for this model G935U because our bootloader is locked.
So with no recovery we have NO CUSTOM ROM's right ??
Or is there a way to flash a ROM via Odin and not have TWRP ? I can not believe I got this expensive phone and I can not flash ANYTHING.
Thank you for any ideas or tips. BTW I am rooted and running ......API3 boot-loader.
.
I can't believe it either. You'd think you'd read up first.
FlashFire. Google it

Hi. My question to you is, what do you want root for.. do you just want to root your device with stock rom or you want to use some custom roms?
I just want to root it so i can fully control my device.. delete some bloatwares and can download app with root supported like titanium backups and etc. Its either stock rom or custom rom can do..as long as it is safe and never affects my device performance..and dont make my device a laggy issues or something like that. Thank you for the response..

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.
If it says 935f. It's probably compatible with roms and recoveries for 935f.
If I'll have to do something like this.. I'd definitely try myself first. Just use odin method to root 935f. Since it's just flashing recovery and installation of super su. There's not much at risk. You can try odin method. If anything does wrong you can still flash it back using odin too....
And if it's about custom rom. I'd highly recommend checking your phones box for the type of chip inside your device. Download recovery and flash via odin. Copy rom to sd card and flash it. But do remember to check oem unlock. Plus you need to download the exact rom for 935 model and exynos/snapdragon version.
