Anyone getting excessive heating? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

My phone runs hot most of the time. I can get the background apps to stay off. Any suggestions?

Something is causing my S4 CPU to be running 24/7 and killing battery

For the past few days I've noticed my S4 randomly go from 80% battery to completely dead while just in my pocket... when I take the phone out, I notice that it is running very hot. I also keep getting notifications that my memory is completely full (I have 16gb + 32gb sd card).
This is a screenshot of what is causing the cpu to be running. 'Media' caused 80% of my battery to be depleted. Also, the battery decline seems to be a steady slope.
Is there any way to figure out what is causing this and how to stop it? Thanks!

Install wakelock detector. Charge to 100% and let it drain. Then check wakelock detector PRIOR to re-charging. THis will tell you exactly what is keeping the unit from hibernating properly. Poor case design can cause overheating as well. My i377m gets quite warm charging with the case on, so I just take it off. BetterBatteryStats also works.

WIFI automatically turning ON when phone battery hits 15%

as soon as my S5 phone hits the first low battery warning at 15%, the WIFI automatically turns on
makes no sense since that would drain the battery even faster
already checked all setting to make sure any auto switches are off
anyone else heard of this problem and know how to keep the wifi from turning on by itself?
nobody?
ok in case anyone else runs into this, i figured it out
after nobody replied i figured it had to be an app i had that not too many people use
after uninstalling one by one when my phone was hovering around the 15% mark, the culprit turned out to be:
prey anti-theft....a useful app, but now useless

[Q] GCM_LIB Wakelock

I was wondering if anyone might be able to shed any light on this, my N4 is awake ~90% of the time, and I can't figure out why GCM_LIB is causing it, or even what GCM_LIB really is. Pretty frustrating. This also happens on franco r213. Any help at all would be very much appreciated, as this is started to really pee me off.

Battery - What Am I Doing Wrong? - Help!

Hola,
I consider myself pretty experienced when it comes to maintaining devices and getting the best out of them - but I can't get my head around my S8. It's really bugging me and I've decided enough is enough.
I have disabled bloat, there's nothing bloated on it. GPS is turned of, Auto-Brightness on, Sync is on but I don't ave much Syncing.
It's a fresh install too, it's been running for about a week - but I have had this problem since I have had the phone.
So I can be on 100%, Wi-Fi off, just sat on my desk at work. And I can see it dropping a % every 10 minutes, doing nothing just sat there!!
Right now it is on 53% from 8AM this morning with 55M screen on time, 55 MINUTES!
What am I doing wrong? It's driving me crazy, my iPhone X is still on 100%. I know you're all going to need some more details off me, so just let me know what you need
This might help.
Try installing GSam battery monitor or something similar. With GSam you can see the old battery graph ie when WiFi, GPS etc is on plus also if the phone is going into doze. This might help for a start

Hi OP. Its frustrating when you have issues like these and cant figure out why. Is there any chance that subpar reception in your area is causing excessive battery drain?
Also instal wakelock detector (WLD) it shows which process drains your battery while screen is off. It might be background music, bluetooth or app notifications.
Do you have apps running in the background?
Try installing a data monitoring app to see if there are any apps running in the background as even mobile data drains a lot of battery.

Overheating when GPS or video running, app shuts down

I am running Android Lollipop (V5.01) on my Samsung S4 (GT-I9505 in Australia).
When I run Google Maps for over 1/2 hour or video for around 1/2 hour the phone gets quite hot and the the app shuts down. Sometimes I see a popup window stating that due to overheating the app was shut down.
I was under the impression that android was smart enough to throttle back the cpu frequency to slow the cpu down enough to stop it overheating with the current load. But, no, it is just smart enough to shut down the app causing the overheating. This is totally unacceptable since I use Maps to show me where to go and if it shuts down, I am lost.
Is this normal behaviour? Or, is this a Samsung add on that can be turned off? I would prefer to slow the CPU rather than shut down the app.
Is there something I can do about this?
Thanks
