Good. What the difference between b137?
Haven't tested yet, but it should be a few updates and bugfixes
<sigh> NOT Gingerbread, then?
I've already jumped right in and downloaded but something wrong with the transfer coz I have a corrupt zip file here.
Guess it's Oxygen for me rather than another download just for some minor updates.
Hardly any notable changes between the versions. The only updated libs are libhwfotaadapter.so, libjni_latinime.so, and libprojectmenu.so. Rest of the updated files are system apps.
Full comparison between the B137 mongolia rom and B138SP04 Estonia here: http://www.flibblesan.co.uk/report-B137-B138SP04.html
There might be some improvements to the wifi files as they appear to be newer, but I've not tested them.
I can upload a full dump of the system and cust folders if anyone wants them? It's relatively easy to dump the system from the update but I can only seem to extract cust by flashing the update. B138SP04-estonia-elisa-fulldump.rar
B162 for China Unicom is out too http://www.huaweidevice.com/tcpsdow...entName=U8800 V100R001C17B162CUSTC17D001 .rar.
Also here are the boot and system images compare report.
http://simplistian.com/android/boot-B138SP04-B162.html
http://simplistian.com/android/system-B138SP04-B162.html
I don't understand why there are so many lib differences. They should be the same version for China and overseas.
With the B137 to B138 compare can we conclude that B162 updated more libs than B138 from B137?
Hmm strange, so many differences between B162 and B138...I think Huawei is trying to create a totally different Rom version for China...I'll have to test both and see which is more stable (mostly interested in battery drain).
and if could see if the connections are goimg down all the time.
thanks
thanks
may try it .
Tried all of them, they are all 2.2.2 and nothing seems changed on the first view. A few things have changed from the back-end as none of the themes or mods are working anymore...
So just in case anybody wants to try them, circle battery mod won't work...Except that, I can't see any other issues.

My B137 theme is working on my device on the B138SP04 stock ROM. What theme did you try?

Did you restore the app or installed it again?
I've installed simple grey theme, cyanbread theme and circle battery mod on B138 and B162. All these were installed from Clockwork Mod, as every-time I had to restore from backup. Everything force closes after installation of themes/mod, including the radio module as reception was gone.
I used circle battery mod before on stock Roms, but they used to be rooted...Could that be the problem?
b162 rom installed.. root problem this rom. how to root???
not work z4root...
How to root this b162 version?
z4root doesn't work with 2.2.2 and SuperOneClick cannot connect to device. Yes.. checked drivers and tried that debugging on/off trick.

SuperOneClick is proved to be able to root B162.
Dont root it! Why root an official rom? can just copy "dload" folder to internal memory and reboot phone pressing volume keys. Worked for me -.-, or am i missing something?
I have B138 rom and I don't want those pre-installed apps. I tried z4root 1.3, it didn't work. If there's some other way, please tell me.

Got rid of the default apps, if anyone needs to do the same: http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/huawei_u8800

This is an AOKP ROM for the u8800. It is ported from Huawei Honor B977 4.0.3. I'd like to know if anyone else has tried this and what they think. It's a chinese rom from the anzhi forums (original thread)
I flashed this ROM just now ( thanks fjsferreira for the mirror), this is my feedback:
- Fast, smooth (on par with Aurora).
- Wifi, mobile data, bluetooth, and the like work.
- No gapps, Play Store, camera, browser...(you pretty much have to install everything yourself).
- No strip unicode in the Mms.apk.
- Popup notification support in the Mms.apk.
- Cool AOKP tweaks (naturally...).
- No theme-chooser (meaning you'll have to stick with the mix of Touchwiz 5, ICS and lots of tranparency that is the UI).
- Long pressing the Home key doesn't show the multi-tasking interface and doesn't take you to the Homescreen.
- The SEARCH key is set to turn off the screen (to revert it to its normal function (searching!), check this post).
- I'll add more feedback information as more people try it and report.

Make sure the system folder fits in your system partition. I think you need to chacge the partitions in order to flash this, but I'm not sure. Our phone's default system partition is 210 mb
Has anyone tried it? Or have mirror?
I would love to give a try, but download time shows me 18 hours...
I have tried the previous ver actually..... Partition is a must, otherwise phone wont pass Huawei logo. Its ported from Huawei Honor ...every thing works well but Home key does not work..... But be aware some time it happens that you cant return to stock partition and you wont be able to Flash official 2.3 or Froyo ROM back.

I haven't tried that way, you can try once.... All 4.0 official ROM designed for U8800 PRO also officially they have made .app file for changing the partition to install ICS so i doubt it will work.

Actually this version is much smaller (109MB) than the previous (180MB), so it may not need re-partitioning. It has a ".UP" suffix so maybe it is an update flashable only and you need the previous installed, but I can't know since I cannot download it. It just goes soooooo slowwww....

I know, right? I left the computer on and went to the beach but when I came back the file only had 86mb out of the 109mb...I'll have to try again tomorrow, since it will probably take some 4 hours to download.

If you guys use something to stabilize the download, like free download manager, speed is always above 800 KB/s (I've just finished my download, took less than 3mins)
http://i.imgur.com/5kkae.jpg
EDIT: anyway, here it is
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4ZMZwAV0MEaVUUzMjRDM2JyXzg
(I didn't try this ROM yet, and probably won't, Aurora is completely stable for me right now)
Well, just went ahead and tried the ROM. From my 10 minutes playing with it, everything seems to work, wifi, mobile data, bluetooth and camera (camera isn't included by default, you have to install one).
Also, no market by default, you have to manually edit the zip file and include the market apk in it.
Sadly I had to uninstall it after 10 mins because, and I'm seeing this more and more, the dev completely screwed up the UI... it's simply horrible, it's not default AOKP at all... He made a complete mess with icons from samsung, an horrible background in every app, horrible popups and menus, etc... I didn't like that at all. I didn't even took the time to create screenshots, I'm sorry, because it was burning my eyes...
There are some stuff completely in chinese, in the ROM control area of the settings, but overall, you can choose any language that Android includes. Note, while the theme of the UI isn't AOKP, the ROM itself is, with the usual settings AOKP provides,
Performance wise, I saw no difference than with aurora...

no it isn't working but i am going to try get it working in my release but first i want to get the battery drain issue solved
Just picked up a new galaxy tablet 7.0 (8GB) about a week ago. Great device so far and love it. I just can't stand the preloaded bloatware on the device and the space its taking up. It's currently running version 4.0.4
I've read up a bit up on ROMS and rooting the device. Seem pretty comfortable with it just have a few questions.
1) Do I need an SD card in the device in order to root it?
2) Best rom out there? Appears like the most talked about rom is the Cyanogen Mod 10?
No you don't need an SD Card but you may as well get one as you will need it once you start making nandroid back ups. Your tab fill up quickly ! Not to mention media and apps on top of that as well. Bigger the better to be honest.
No such thing as the best ROM, Once you are rooted try them all out and find one that suits your needs. I love AOKP M1( link in my sig) as you can customize it more than CM10 and has better features IMO.
If you dont want to customize it , try a deodexed stock based ROM with all the bloat removed, ROMSWELL makes some cool ROMS. Search the DEV section of this forum.
As i said its a personal choice , so flash them and try them out. Wont cost you anything apart from some time..... If you need help just ask and someone will give you some advice. Don't forget to flash some GApps ( Goggle Applications) as they are not normally included in a ROM due to copyright issues.
Most of all have fun.
Oh id go for a JellyBean based ROM , nothing wrong with ICS , just the latest version out (4.2 is around the corner as well with some cool new stuff )

Thanks for the info! So the 4.0.4 is not jelly bean but its ICS?
How can I not download Jelly bean.. when I try to do an update it says its the most recent one..
I did see that some ROMS allow you to OC the device, so squeezing that extra little juice out of it I wouldn't mind either
Yeah you're trying to update "stock" and its not been released as yet to the general public.....So flash a custom ROM (once you have root)
Once you root , forget about Samsung updates as they wont work any more, But the XDA community devs do that for us much quicker than Samsung does !
Heres a rough guide from Codeworkx (CM10)
First time installing CyanogenMod 10 to your Galaxy Tab 2, or coming from another ROM:
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM10 ZIPs to your internal SDCard ( or the external SD Card )
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM10 zip from internal SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from internal SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET
- Reboot

The ROM you are running is Ice Cream Sandwich, comes as a "stock" standard on our tabs, CM10 and AOKP are both JellyBean, Some other customs ROMs are as well. Both are under/over-clockable and both can use custom kernels as well. Both VERY stable and have very good support threads by the devs that compiled them.

Thanks for your help! Great info there. Are any of these ROMS more complex than the other? I just don't want to get into it too deep or too complex and having more of a issue getting things up and running properly or are these all the same complexity when installed? ie.. customization etc..
Aokp is very similar to CM based ROMs. They are as easy to set up as a stock ROM, only they allow for more tweaks than a factory ROM. The only thing that you have a to do with a custom rom is flash gapps(Google apps) usually in the rom thread. Read, reread, and grow a pair. The fear will turn into a high that draws you in. There is a reason that the term crack-flashing was born. It is very simple to do it on this tablet. If you have any trouble pm me, or post here, and I will walk you through it. I just did it a couple of days ago for my daughters. Good luck

At first try stable roms like AOKP JB milesone 1
As JeramyEggs said , just jump in and get wet ! They are all pretty much the same , I just prefer AOKP as I can customize it a little bit more than the others. I really dont like the way CM10 handles the navigation bar , where as AOKP lets you do as you wish to it. And I like the toggles it uses as well.
Dump stock what ever you do, Dont get me wrong I love the Samsung stock ROMs as they look stunning and the widgets are top class. The music/video players are quality. You will also gain some space on your tab as well. Stock ROMs are around 750MB and custom ROMs are normally under 200MB
Stock has no theme engine as such , that means if you want to change the way it looks ( other than wallpapers) you will have to start decompiling some system .apks ( Applications ) and it gets a tad tricky messing with .xmls.and getting it all working again.
With the theme engine in place you have 100s of themes to choose from ( over 500 in fact) and plenty of mods you can flash as well, You can even edit themes either online or on your PC with some XDA made applciations ( I use "tickle my android" personally to make themes / Edit apks like widgets n stuff )
CM10/AOKP are always being updated ( But AOKP has stopped development for the moment as I mentioned above , until 4,2 is ported) CM10 has a preview build out already. Both ROMs have a ROM control option to pimp your device up as well.
If you look through this thread , you can see most of the main ROMs and what we all do with them.
I tend to flash most of the new ROMs just to try them out. When I'm done messing around with it all I do is boot into recovery and restore my nandroid back up and I'm back to the way I was .Its kinda like system restore on a Windows PC.
Get stuck on anything , just ask as most of the forum members are all pretty cool and more than willing to help out.
My advice is......GO FOR IT !!11!!!1 What you got to lose ?

Reading some of this stuff I am overwhelmed. So in order to backup the device up I need to root it first?
I will start with the HOW TO ROOT YOUR TAB thing now and see how far I get..
So I started last night and let's say didn't get very far. Downloaded the neccessary files but for some stupid reason the Kies software (needed to install this to get the drivers installed for the tablet so I can transfer the contents to it) was not installing.
I left my laptop on during the night and it never finished installing the software. I obtained it right from the Samsung Support website.
Any idea what could be causing this?
Also, once I do get this software installed so that the device shows up under Windows Explorer so I can drag the neccessary .zip files to it. Is there a specific location on the device I should place the files on? I do not currently have a SD card in the tablet.
Oh and my device model is a GT-P3113
So I managed to install Kies.. Guess it was getting hung up on .NET framework 4. So I just downloaded and installed myself and then tried the Kies thing and it went right through the install.
So now I should be good to actually see the device in Windows Explorer once I plug it in.
My question still remains, any particular spot on the device I need to place the .zip files for rooting?

Anywhere you can easily find the tar.md5 file on your windows drive, the*cwm-root-gtab2.zip goes to*/mnt/extSdCard which is the root, don't place in a file. I rooted mine via http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25228-how-to-rooting-gt-p3113-step-by-step-updated-07182012/

Okay.. so /mnt/extSdCard is if you have a SD card in the device.
But I do not have a SDcard, that is why i am actually asking does it matter where I place the files within the tablet internal storage due to not having a micro sd card.

Well, do your own research. There is a table of contents in the 7" dev forum, go read the rooting method there and also in the general section. Also, I'm not responsible for what others post and, you can ask the other guy how he rooted his without an sd. I recommend reading about rooting before doing it. I will say this is the easiest device to root.
So I managed to root the device. Was pretty straight forward once I got going. I installed AOKP milestone 1 rom as per someones suggestion here saying it's stable. Overall it does look nicer now and smoother only a couple of questions.
1) I took a backup or the stock stuff before doing anything after performing the root. Now I noticed all the data is gone lol.. Is there anyway to get the data back? Mainly the game progress and all the other stuff?
2) I see AOKP has a theme function under it's settings, currently there is only 1 listed. Where does one obtain themes for it? It's not in the Play Store, is it?
3) Saw the overclocking option also, does that mean the overclock can be pumped up to 1200mhz?
Guess my main question now is whether or not I can get that data back lol..
If you performed a factory reset after flashing your custom ROM, which you should have anyway, I'm sorry to say you have lost your data.

Sure did.. Oh well now I'll know at least and look into the actual backup apps to backup game progress.
The .zip files I put on the table prior to rooting, like fix-recovery, the clockwork mod file as well as the actual ROM, can those be removed off the tablet now?
I played around a bit last night and I found the THEME Choose on the Play Store and I saw themes.

1) which app do you use to back up? some apps only back up apk and some other back up the data too
2) you can find aokp/cm theme on playstore, usualy nice theme will cost more
3) yes you can overclock it via ROM control on setting
I have a cube talk 5H phone wich I just bought, the network specifications are 2G/3G GSM:900/1800MHz,WCDMA:2100MHz, and for all I try I can't get 3G service on my phone even though I have my APN configured correctly and when I enter phone info dialing "*#*#4696#*#*" on "set preferred network type" I've selected "TD-SCDMA-preferred" and "CDMA auto (prl)" but still all I get is 2G.
Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with LeWa Os5 rom and the Miui roms but stock firmware is well.
I think the problem is band mode, i tried to fix it but nothing change.
Now i install new firmware but LeWa os5 is better than stock.

Aw crap, I'm running MIUI and I didn't backup the original stock ROM, but I recall I had the same problem with the original... Anywhere I can get alternate firmwares for my phone? Thanks for the quick answer :3
New firmware "A5300_V1.03_20130927.zip" is over here
Chinese link: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1IaV6
Chinese link is too slow, i upload somewhere else.
Alternative link: https://mega.co.nz/#!FxgwyD6B!abY1_giDlTPDopM7PIveQXOpN4gAWs805HBBmzysTHw
And i guess that in custom roms 3G work only with micro sim (i don't have one, so i did't test it).

And thank you also for uploading to mega downloads from baidu are SLOW where I live in spain and my internet is 5Mb/s
Interesting...
When i install the new firmware everything works. Whatever happy to solve your problem.
I have this phone and my 3G(UK) comes off the large sim(normal). I think it's to do with what ever
rom you put on(or maybe not? I thought this phone came with MIUI but it doesn't only the launcher is MIUI
I do hope cube build a real MIUI rom that updates every week like it should.
But on a good note the is a Oppo rom and it's very nice
Here is a tip for you. Use chrome browser on your desk top and sign up to pan.baidu.com
so if ever you want to download a rom pan.baidu will side load it to your space and
then you can download it when ever you want at 4-6MB a sec

Interesting, what Oppo rom did u use? Was everything ok? and did you flash it by Update apk in running android, or in factory mode?
Thanks a lot.
http://bbs.51cube.com/thread-83206-1-1.html that's the Oppo version I'm using.
You have to flash a zip to make the partitions bigger but that's easy.
I did flash Oppo ColorOS v1.1 too, it's very cool. But in the camera app, there is no choice 16:9 mode, should install third part app.
help
can somebody can upload somewhere oppo v1.1 for cube and also partition resize software and a little tutorial?
It is better than official firmware? also nicer than miui or le frog5?
Thank you so much

Is that recovery in English or is it the 0.2A Chinese one? The Chinese recovery won't backup batch 2 of these phones.

Yeah got a question / need for help with a P8 lite.
I have gotten this phone as a extra to my mom, but I have used it abit and im getting more and more mad on the Huawei bloat.
I have a Oneplus One with Cyanogen 13.1.2 normally and it much more easy for my mom to navigate then the Huawei.
She also liked my old LG Nexus 4 with Android 4.1.2, so I'm looking for a rom that is as clean as Cyanogen/official android (non vender versions).
I have looked at most of the roms posted but all seam to either have broken data/wifi or non functioning camera, so I need some guidance to the most working one.
I have no preference to what version of android its based on just that it is debloated and works.
The P8 lite dual sim is version ALE-L21C42B585 with Android 6 (Marshmallow) and EMUI 4.0.
I'm sorry for needing the help but I'm not sure what to go for.
PS. It would be lovely for the rom to be compatible with the flip controls mod (getting the "back" button on the right side).
Hi!
I've seen your issue, and I wanted nearby same things too, but you have only two possibilities:
1. Most compatible and working one = emui crossover
2. Most clean (newer Android version) but you've to flash gapps and CPU fix, download footej camera to record but you can't use 2nd Sim = Lineage OS
It's a big problem, in my opinion try both and see what's the best. Personally, in your case I think it's best the first:highfive:
Let me know

I think you should either flash AOSPA or slim rom. Both these rom are simple and light. The newest version don't require you to flash cpu fix or install footej camera since it is already included in rom.

So, if i understand, you want a simple phone for your mom, right?
In my opinion if i was you i do this:
Install B608 [ Need the default recovery] then my Basic version [ Need bootloader unlocked and TWRP]: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-c432b604-ds-p8-lite-emui-basic-t3652417
Then i install Nova Launcher with TWRP like this, download the zip from bellow and copy to microSD, boot in TWRP, mount system, go to advance menu, file manager, system, app, HwLauncher6, open it, select file, rename HwLauncher6.apk to HwLauncher6.apk.bak [ to stay like a backup], go to main menu, install, select external sd, find Nova_Launcher.zip and install it!, go to wipe and wipe ONLY art and cache. Reboot.
It will boot in Nova Launcher, it have a simple UI to work.
Is only a opinion!
.
Okay will be looking on the options you have suggested. May take some time but will report back.

Because you need to deactivate Huawei launcher and you need it in system if something goes wrong in data.
Huawei launcher all gets priority over other launcher.
I say nova launcher but Google launcher is good to.
Or i can try to find a Alcatel launcher that i rebuild to work on Huawei.
This 3 are similar.

I was using nova as default launcher on stock without any problem... all you have to do is set it in settings because there is no pop up message
btw nova is best for me and I'm using it for a few years, all other has something that irritates me.

You haven't kept up. LineageOS is abandoned because Xe bricked his phone. His work ends here for this phone probably. RROS and AOSPA are 2 fully functioning Nougat ROMs right now. If all goes well by September there may even be no workarounds needed. OP choose one of the 2 if you want Nougat

What about Haky's ROMs? Are they as stable as Surdu's?
Using 7.1.2 AOSPA since yesterday, pretty stable so far and battery life is fine.
