Hey, I've updated to EMUI5 (B370 version) via Firmware Finder, P9 Lite VNS-L21.
Now, I've noticed an issue with notifications mainly from Pushbullet (sending links/files to phone) and Youtube so far. I've installed a notification logger app atm to see if it happens to more apps.
Sometimes the notifications disappear by their own in a matter of 1-2 seconds. Mentioning that I have no application set to close after screen lock, tried setting these 2 apps to ignore battery optimizations too, cleared the data/cache of both, still no luck.
It's easy to fix it temporarily, opening the app in cause allows its notifications to work fine for some time... until it happens again.
Seems to be some aggressive battery/ram management by the system, I suppose. Thought I was one of the few lucky ones with no issues on this update

I am having this issue since marshmallow
Had it on my n5 and now on n6p no matter on which rom
I don't have Greenify installed
I am using the stock theme system wide
My wifi connection is pretty stable
I have disabled whatsapp in battery optimization
I have not restored it through TB rather downloaded it from play store
Its like if i dont pick up my device after around 10 or 15 mins i dont get any notification from whatsapp and when i open it then i receive them
Is there really a fix for this?
Because i heavily rely on whatsapp and have to continously force waking it
Also i tried to change the heartbeat by setting it to 5 mins which was recommended default by the app
Anyone with any ideas? Because I'm out of all:crying:
I have tried clearing app data as well
But still does not help
Hi guys,
my issue is easy to describe, but I really don't know how to fix it.
Problem:
Normally Whatsapp, Snapchat or what else, will give you a notification when u have a message or something like this.
But sometimes, I really dont know when, sometimes when it's cleared from recents, sometimes when it's still in recents, the "information" wont come through.
For example, when a friend of mine sends a whatsapp to my device, he just has one tick and I dont receive anything. When I open Whatsapp manually, it "loads" all the information on the server and only then gives me the notification.
So it isnt really the problem of the Notification. I think the real problem is, that because whatsapp is like in a doze or something, the messages wont arrive on my device.
This problem isn't only for whatsapp, it's on all my apps which have like a "background communication"
Tried fixes:
In smart manager is excluded them from the saving power option
Checked if there is like a mobile data restriction
Cleared dalvik cache
Used Push Notification Fixer - but as I mentioned, I dont think this problem is the real notification, there is just no message, which could notify me
Re-installed the app with out titanium backup -- so fresh clean Google Play Store installation
My Device:
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge -- SM-G935F
Superman-Rom v 1.12 --> I tried with other customroms -- same problem
Prometheus Kernel 1.5.3
If anybody has any possible solution, please let me know
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Hi @MisterEvo,
i unfortunately cannot help you, but I wanted to say, you are not the only one with this problem - i recognized these "Push-notification-issues" too.
I tried nearly everything to fix it, like different Custom Roms, different Kernels, different Bootloaders, clear cache or reinstall app, disabled app in smartmanager, allowed background data usage and so on, but nothing, really nothing fixed my push-notification bug.
I would really appreciate if there are any suggestions from the community.
Regards.
Recently I am having notification delays with my S7 Edge G935F. I have read through some posts on this forum and other sources and can't figure it out.
Here are some of the problems:
1. notifications are often delayed for more than thirty minutes
2. if I want to manually check notification when it does not pop up, unlocking the screen does not make the notification show, I have to actually launch the specific app to see the notification
3. It is more than just not showing the notification, when I am using some instant messaging apps (like WeChat), I can't see new messages coming in while the app is running in the front. I have to press the home button and get back to home screen, then re-enter the app, then the messages show up. This happens to many other apps as well.
4. Other things go wrong as well. For example, my Android Auto was set to launch whenever I get into my car and car bluetooth is connected. It is also delayed, by more than hours. It often launches long after I finish my driving and get back home sitting on my couch.
5. Downloading new apps from Play Store has problems as well. It downloads to 100% and just stops there, it does not start installation. I have to use Settings->App to kill Play Store and re-open it to "refresh" it, then it starts to install.
6. After installation of new app, it does not show up on my screen or app draw inside my launcher. I can see the app installed in Play Store. I have to kill launcher and re-open the launcher to make it "refresh" the app list then I can see new app inside the app draw.
I have also tried a lot of ways to fix it:
1. change app to not battery optimized -> didn't fix it
2. update firmware -> didn't fix it
3. factory reset -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
4. flash to a different firmware (official ROM in different regions) -> works for the first day then it goes wrong again
5. use third-party ROM (Lineage OS) -> completely fix the problem, but too buggy to use
I can see the general idea of what's going wrong, some events happened (connected to car Bluetooth, new messages coming, app finished downloading, new app installed, etc.) and the system is not responding correctly. I am not very familiar with Android development but I feel like something is wrong with the "event handling" or "event raising" inside Samsung's Android system.
Please post reply if you have any idea or are facing the similar problems.
EDIT:
The phone is on Android 7.0, Build Number NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQER
You've stated that flashing the custom ROM solved the problem, so maybe you should try flashing a different rom that's a bit more stable.
From personal experience i can recommend the SuperStock rom. It's stock (obviously) and it's debloated and very stable with pretty good battery life as far as i remember.
there is some info about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/want-to-root-custom-one-stay-stock-t3631098?styleid=18 (ignore the root part).
Hi,
did you find any solution to this problem ? cause i got the same problem, and i'm going crazy... few months already and can't figure out what is the problem...
the temporary fix i've found is disabling the "google app" in application manager... it fix the problem but i can't use any Google app features (and i like using them...).
I've found few ppl experiencing the same problem searching on internet but no one with a real fix...
if someone more experienced can help debut this it would really mean a lot...
I think it is the battery optimization setting. You may check the settings>battery>advanced settings>optimize apps. You need to keep the apps un-optimized if you want the notifications and sync.
Also, you may check if Sync is on or off.
If these two does not solve, factory reset if you are on stock ROM. If on a custom ROM, you may check a different ROM
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Actually none of this works... The only thing that "fixes" the issue is disabling the Google app in the application manager... That's why its so weird...
The problem started around July/August 2017 for me...
As i discovered that disabling Google was fixing the problem, i assumed that they'll correct it by updating the app... But only one update of the app was ok, all others would make the problems reappear...
Messing with battery optimization settings doesn't change anything for me... Factory reset as well... The problem comes back as soon as the google app gets updated...
Try clearing cache and deleting data from the Google app the time the problem occurs
already tried... doesn't help at all...
Hello. I recently bought the Nubia Z17, really really happy with it. But there is issues with it which I have tried to solve but haven't suceeded.
The biggest issue:
I do not get notifications constantly, just sometimes. Snapchat, Messenger and Facebook pops up when they want to, but its very rare. Gmail never pops up, and never syncs in the background. I have tried to fix this by changing the settings in the NeoSafe app, but it doesnt want to work.
An annoying issue:
Also, a problem that happens when the phone gets cold. It feels like its pressing the left button by it self, the ''open app-drawer'' pops upp all the time and when i press it down it pops up again. I live in Sweden, and its currently only -5 outside, and China have that weather too, so why is it a problem?
An issue which I can't understand:
Also, I sometimes having trouble downloading apps from Play Store, I have tried to solve this and it is mostly solved by removing cache from the app, but same thing keeps happing after a while.
Anyone got any tips or solutions? I think I have the chinese rom with google services installed. Works great overall, fast, smooth and nice screen. I would like to avoid flash another rom into it or restore it.
Thanks.
i got the same problem on my z17s.... i have to let the app opened in multitask to have the notification, lucky i have 6gb of ram....i tried with neosafe and app settings but still the same...
if you have your phone rooted you can convert the apps (WhatsApp ...) as Systemapp. I did it with LuckyPatcher. With Titaniumbackup works that too. But I have had problems that the app was gone.
Give it a try
Here the same problem with my Z17s ... also tried to enable the apps in the "performance mode" in the power management, also no luck for some apps (although whatsapp works fine).

more problems than you. keep auto reboot. .. thıs phone ıs builshitt. ı give ıt away to my 3 age son for broke ıt LOL. ı will never ever buy nubia ın my life . Lg and samsung ıs the best
same problem....
Hi, I also recently got my z17, I was very excited to finally have a "flagship" phone. I encounter the same problem. I have tried everything said here, but what I did kinda worked. So I did a factory reset. Once reset and log in in the google app 1st, and then the play store, I downloaded the apps, but before opening the apps for the 1st time I went directly into the permissions section in settings and allow just about everything, I did the power performance and the network performance, then I opened the apps and I went into the apps settings to allow notifications. Like I said, it kinda work. I don't get FB notifications as often, but I do get gmail.
I had thought that it was a restriction of background data, but apparently is not.
Now, I cannot sync my google calendar with my gmail account in the phone. When I download the app and I open it it has a [email protected] account...and that is not me, I cant change it or anything. Do you know how to fix it?
Check if you have Neo Safe or something named like that. It acts as a security manager for your device. Its also able to block notifications. I think I changed some settings there and then it started to work.
Is anyone else having problems with Gmail (which comes pre-installed as a system app on the Mi 9T) not showing notifications until the phone is "awoken"?
I have accessed developer options, turned off miui optimization, I started Gmail and locked it to recents tab, I turn off battery optimization for Gmail & I manually turned on notifications. I can't autostart the Gmail app as it is a system app and apparently it automatically autostarts. But notifications still will not come through until I "wake" the phone by using it for something else.
I don't have issues with other "push" apps like WhatsApp - only Gmail.
Do others have the same issue? Can anyone recommend a fix?
Me too...
But it's not very often and sometimes affects other apps like WhatsApp etc as well.
Any fix to this?
Its a power saver issue. I think it's with all apps. If an app is awake you get notifications if you close it you get notifications for a while then its put to sleep. I noticed it with Instagram DMs and even though I set Instagram to be (no power restrictions) it still gets put to sleep! this is a really annoying issue! What's a "mobile" phone without instant notifications??
Same here. Gmail notifications are delayed for 2-20 minutes, but when I turn screen on (even without unlocking) notification shows immediately. Do you find any fix?
Just delete it as a system app through Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot tool and install the google play store version. In this way you can set off the power saving miui management

Already done, no effect.
My pixel didn't send a gmail notification until after turning the screen on too, it's probably not a device issue at least.

Off topic. For some other reason, I tried uninstalling Google photos via Fastboot tool and when I try to install from play store, it just gets enabled in a second; which means ultimately it didn't delete the system package; just hidden it.
Anybody came across the same issue?

Yes, I uninstalled GMail and install it from Google Play - installation was finished in second.
Set Gmail to auto start and make sure it has no battery savings mode applied to it
Gmail is a system app and there are no options to set it to start automatically or change battery restriction.
Removing it via abd does not work.
Btw is this a MIUI issue due to battery "optimization" or android in general?
