AT&T Persistent WiFi Notification - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I am debating picking up an s8 from AT&T. Can anyone who was one confirm if there's still an ongoing notification saying you're connected to WiFi 24/7? This crap drives me bonkers
I recall you could disable it on the Verizon S7, but not the AT&T variant

There's no persistent WiFi notification on my AT&T S8

There was on mine when you pull down you can see the message connected to WiFi, but if you go into WiFi - Advanced, it can be turned off from there. It seems when Network nofication, Hotspot 2.0 and Auto connect to AT&T Wi-Fi are all active it shows the message. When I turned them all off it was gone.

unlocked AT&T LG G2 does not has Tmobile data

Hi, this is my first post on XDA, i bought an unlokced ATT&T LG G2 last month and use it on T-mobile network, i was able to make calls and send/receive messages fine. i just changed my family plan from Classic to Simple Choice yesterday, and we were supposed to have unlimited data with 1 gb of 4g lte. When i tested the data plan on my sister's iphone 5, she was able to get online with the LTE icon on the notification bar. However, when i tested on my phone, it does not show H, 2G, 3G, 4G, or 4G LTE and i was not able to get online. i have contact T-mobile support, and they said my phone was already registered, all the information was provided correctly but i still has no luck getting my phone online. I have played with the data setting such as turning it on and off, the airplane mode and even restart my phone but i still have no luck. Does anyone has this problem? please help me. :crying::crying:

WIFI calling on VZW

Hey guys been doing some searching do not have a definitive answer. I know Verizon Wireless recently enabled wifi calling on their network for iOS and select android devices which was back at the end of last year. As Android has native support wifi calling since Lolipop I believe, does anybody know if wifi calling works on nexus 6p with a verizon SIM card inserted? I have read different places its part of advance calling, or you may need the verizon messages app, so conflicting information, my new job provides me a phone with VZW, I am currently on T-Mobile do not want to carry two phones but VZW gets next to no service in my neighborhood, talking 1 or 2 bars of 1X only! Any help would be appreciated.
There is currently no wifi calling on VZW and the nexus 6P unless you use VZW's message+ app.
I'd be surprised if any non VZW Android phone ever gets it.

Thanks! But the wifi calling definitely works with that app installed? I use google voice so SMS isnt what I am looking for as that always works on wifi, I am talking about actual phone calls lol which I know in this day and age is crazy talk
Edit - you mean this app right? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.verizon.messaging.vzmsgs
yeah that's the app. It has a voice call option, I just put the phone in airplane mode and enabled wifi. It would NOT make a call so maybe I have no idea what the heck I'm talking about.

935u on Verizon but no 4g or Advanced LTE

I recently purchased a 935u from swappa. Previous owner had the phone on t-mobile. After activating my phone on Verizon I noticed my phone doesn't go on 4g and nor does it have any settings to allow me to enable a advanced LTE. Not sure the best path to figure out how to get these to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sometimes requires calling VZW, as they see you as "non-vzw phone" so doesn't have Volte turned on for you b/c it thinks your phone can't use it.

Yeah so far i enabled the VoLTE per your suggestion. It's now enabled on the phone, but it's still prioritizing 3G all the time, unfortunately.

Sprint issue

I've had my G4 Plus active on Sprint for around 8 days, and all of them I have had issues with receiving SMS messages. Sprint is currently saying that since it is an unlocked device, the support they can provide me is very limited. They can have me reset the network settings, to no avail. Does anyone here have a G4 Plus & Sprint? If so, what did you have to do to get it working?
I had Virgin Mobile with my Moto g3 which uses Sprint network and for connectivity issues they recommend doing PRL update. Otherwise did you check SIM settings? Cellular network settings? Very rarely I had issues with delayes in text messages when I was in Sprint network so I installed Push Notification Fixer app.

I have done a PRL & device config update. No SIM settings I can check or change, so far nothing has helped. However, with the reports from others where it has worked well I requested a replacement from Amazon to see if that will let me fix it.
To check SIM go to about phone-->status-->sim status. You can at least check network and rule that out.
Shows disconnected from the cell network. That is probably part of the issue I'm having.
I disconnected from WiFi and it showed connected. And I could receive text messages without issue. At this point, I think something is messed up with the phone and I am hoping the replacement works fine.
Got a new phone from Amazon and all is good now. Works great, I guess I just got a bum phone.

VOLTE Wifi Calling with Unlocked S10+

Hey there, I've been doing a bit of research but it has been a long while since i have done any flashing of firmware etc. I received my s10+ device today. Model number is SM-G975UZKAXAA. I am a Verizon wireless customer. When I placed this device on my account I noticed I have no access to Voice over LTE, and I also do not have any access to Wifi Calling. My question is the following. I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that if I wanted something like this I would need to flash the original VZW Firmware which would have all the lovely bloatware etc on the device. Is there any way I can do that? I have seen firmware that has been posted but I dont seem to see anything that specifically is the VZW apps etc which should (hopefully allow VOLTE and Wifi Calling and maybe even HD Calling, if thats a thing)
I would appreciate any info anyone can provide me on this, as the only solution I can see at the moment is to return the device and start over with a VZW specific device.
Cheers~
Likewise but with a T-Mobile firmware for me
Unlocked US version here with Verizon and wifi calling and volte working out of the box.
You may want to call Verizon to see if they need to provision it for your account.

Hey guys, just wanted to check in with you (or anyone else who has wifi calling on unlocked Verizon). It is 100% working? It's the only reason I got the carrier version. Should I cancel and order the unlocked?

Yes, it works with my unlocked S10+ on Verizon. It surprised the heck out of me as I too have the unlocked Note9, but no wifi calling.
What about on AT&T? Can anyone say if they can at least get VOLTE? WiFi calling would be the icing on the cake. Thank you

Wifi calling worked on my unlocked S10 out of the box on T-Mobile. I'll try and check on VoLTE later but I get **** reception near work.
Can you explain how you enabled WiFi calling on unlocked version, on Verizon? I can't find a way to do it. What about HD Voice? My real problem is that data does not work while on a call, using my unlocked, on Verizon. Is there a way to get that working?
I have unlocked S10+ on VZW. I get LTE+ which is VoLTE, data works while on a call.

Unlocked S10e on T-Mobile. WiFi Calling, VoLTE and band 12 are working. There is no setting for VoLTE, but it works

I don't think that is right. LTE+ and VoLTE are different things. As well as data while on a call.
VoLTE means your call is being transmitted over LTE. I'm pretty sure you can use data while on a call WITHOUT VoLTE.

How do you test if VoLTE is working? Do you get an Icon for it?
I tested WiFi calling by going into airplane mode, turning Wifi on, and making a call and it worked. But didn't get a special icon for it.
For those basing your decision to buy unlocked/international vs branded, be warned. I can only speak for Att, but I spent about 2 hours arguing with their level 2 tech department and here's what I have learned. If you have a sim that is provisioned on a branded phone and then put the sim into an unlocked/international phone, you will be able to use volte, wi-fi calling, etc., but only until the carrier pings your imei for a periodical check, once that happens, those features disappear. Also, on Android Pie, the Enhanced LTE Services tab under Mobile Data has been removed as it is turned on by default, also confirmed with ATT. The only way to manually check is to toggle wifi calling on and see if it works. Anyway, just trying to help as I have gone to a branded phone for the first time in 6 years because the reception and enhanced features are more important than rooting to me.
I was able to get wifi and volte working on my unlocked s10 by putting sim into verizon phone, letting network recognize it, enabling advanced calling and such on that device and then taking the sim out and putting it back in my new unlocked s10. The option for volte appears in settings-connections-mobile networks.
VoLTE works on tmobile, not that anyone should be surprised. That has been the case for the S8 thru N9. Now... I noticed that Samsung removed the VoLTE toggle from settings.

Using what I learned in this thread, I called Verizon and talked to Level2 support. They tried to get everything working and could not - but this was when I had the new SIM installed, provided by Samsung when I got my S10+.
So because others here spoke of their 'other' SIM, I suggested we try that - so I plugged in the SIM from my S8 and asked them to reprovision everything. They did... and....Now everything that didn't work ... WORKS.
So I have an Unlocked S10+ on Verizon that has (among other things):
- Wifi Calling
- Real Time Text
- VoLTE ("HD Voice") (Which means data now works while I'm on a phone call)
- Visual Voicemail
So it seems the Samsung SIM was part of the problem, and they are reporting this to Samsung. The tech support person told me others have reported similar issues and they will get with Samsung to figure out what the issue is.
Hopefully this helps some others as well!
