Good day to all.
I recently bought a V20, a Taiwan version H990DS, so with a TWN ROM. The latest TWN ROM is from last year. Is it possible to flash to the newer Singapore ROM? (SEA)
Like this one : H990ds10e_00_OPEN_SG_DS_OP_0314.kdz (10 april 2017)
I now have :
BASEBAND : MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00027-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.77269.3.79643.3
KERNEL : 3.18.31
BUILD NUMBER : NRD90M
SOFTWARE VERSION : V10c-TWN-XX
MODEL NUMBER : LG-H990ds
I have experience with flasing rom's, but only at Samsung devices. LG is new for me. But I have read the threads around here how to flash a new ROM.
I hope somebody can give me a answer to my question. Thanks in advance!
Greetings from The Netherlands
Hello
someone actually managed to do it, so it seems doable, and fairly easy I'd say.
I was tempted to do it myself, and still am, but then I was just hoping LG would come around with a new update to avoid me all this nuisance...

Hi @buongu
It is just one person who switched his ROM, (@Mattfly93)
On Samsung devices, like the S7, it was a piece of cake switching ROM with ODIN. The risk was very minimal.
I wonder how high the risk is switching ROM with the LG V20 H990DS using LGUP.
there were others too, a guy here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/australian-f-h990ds-t3551066) tried out different ROMs to find better suiting apn settings; other guys too, actually a lot of people with the H990DS seems to be into this subject

I see, thanks for the link. I read that topic but must have overseen it
Are you going to change ROM version? And what is the reason to change it?
What are the differences between the Taiwan(TWN) and the newer Singapore(SEA) ROM?

Yes I'm definitely considering a change. Mainly because they keep receiving updates, I don't know the details, but it seems like there have been a few improvements in the audio compartment as well (which is what I care most about), practically every version had them expect for the h990ds twn. SEA seems to be the one getting updates on a regular basis, so that's the one I'm looking at
there shouldn't be any real difference, same apps, same sw release, just a few fixes ahead so hopefully less glitches.

I don't enjoy this kind of tweaking anymore
I used to, when updates were scarce and custom ROMs were pretty much the only way to prolong a smartphone's life... but nowadays companies promise a 2 year support for all their devices, so why do we still need to put up with boring and elaborate actions like this?
and there's a chance we won't see any future OTA either, judging from the info I have found it will still be recognized by your software as from TWN, but the update won't match any of the ones for TWN or the ones for SEA, so from that moment on manual updating is all you have... and THAT pisses me off

I can understand your feelings about this and to be honest, I share them. I am not afraid of switching ROM from TWN to SEA, i think that will go without any problem. But after that it is manual updating, that is something I did not realised. I have to think about this, but the chance I will manually update is big. The updated software and, most important, the security updates can not be ignored. We will keep in touch. Thanks for your opinion.
I would like to know if I can safely use the 'Refurbish' option in the LGUP tool for changing my TWN(Taiwan) Rom to SEA(Singapore) Rom?
Or do I have to use the 'Upgrade' option?
I am currently on the India ROM, which was last updated in January. Also seriously thinking of switching to the SEA ROM. My only concern is if VoLTE will work on it -- currently, I use a Jio 4G SIM. Does anyone know if SEA will support it?
I also have a S7 Edge, and when I changed ROMs on it (from India to UK ROM), VoLTE stopped working. I had to flash back the INS ROM to get it to work again. Does the same happen with LG ROMs? That is, are regional variants of LG ROMs unique?

All you need is in the 1st post of this thread. Good luck and let us know.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/v20-kdz-restore-failing-9-completing-fix-t3546817
I took the plunge and it did not go off well! A few observations.
1] I was trying to switch from INS to SEA. Refurbish option did not work -- throws up errors when installation reaches 4 per cent.
2] Upgrade option went off without errors but I ended up with cust id mismatch error after reboot. I think Upgrade leaves a few files behind that are related to firmware region. However, you can dismiss these warnings and use the phone. I also ended up with device failed to decrypt error, but that was sorted with a factory reset.
3] VoLTE (from Jio in India) does not work on the SEA firmware.
4] The SEA firmware felt smoother and more responsive than INS one from January. I also see a few SG specific apps.
5] Have now restored back to the INS firmware by downloading the appropriate KDZ file.
6] Now hoping LG wakes up soon and ports the SEA update to other regions!
Thankfully, the LGUP tool is pretty reliable, and if you are used to ODIN, you will be at home here. I would suggest you go ahead and check it out. Maybe it will work for your region...
I just did the same from TWN to SEA, and surprisingly VoLTE is there!
I see it in the shortcuts, I have no use for it because neither of my carriers support it, but it's there

That's interesting. I did not have this option on SEA. I guess it is carrier specific. From my experience with Samsung S7 Edge, relevant carrier strings had to be present in the CSC file/ folder for VoLTE to work.
If root was available for our device, then perhaps this issue can be fixed.

For India, the latest update listed on that site is from April 1. But I don't see it in the downloads section. Does it take over a month for the firmware to be actually available?!
Does any of these dual sim firmware enable band 66?

Hi All,
Just picked up my shiny new Gold SM-G9250, and I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread for all of us who own it! Phone has already updated to baseband G9250ZCU1A0D3, and seems to be running very smoothly so far!
Being a Chinese version, there's no Google Services on the phone, so would be curious if anyone has managed to root their phone and get GApps on there yet.
Hope you're all enjoying your phones!
:good:
Hi man!
I'm looking for a green S6 Edge and the only variant that has this color available is the G9250.
So, does it dual sim? or single sim? Does it have any logo on the back saying it is Dual?
Thank you
It's a single sim phone, I'm afraid.
Why are you afraid?
Can you post some pics of your device?
as in 'I'm sorry it isn't Dual Sim.'
Any of you having the low bright and dimming essues ? My s6 edge gets waaay brighter but only outside.... auto or not auto still brightness problems.. software or hardware essues?
I haven't noticed anything yet, but I have mainly been using it indoors - only took it outside for a short while yesterday.
I'm out and about today, so I'll keep an eye on it and post later with what I find.
Still trying to track down root/recovery for this firmware if anyone has been successful? There was a page based on the phone's original firmware, but not sure whether to risk it.

Nice!
Could you direct me to a link for the files you used?
iGordy101, how did you unlock your SM-G9250? Did it come unlocked?
To the other G9250 users, the Taiwan version of the the G9250 comes with Gapps installed, perhaps there is someway to load it onto there?
Based on model numbers released so far, it looks like only the regular S6 will have dual sim option, but only for limited bands.

Oh Guys! Not sure about the different regions, but the members on MOBILE01 found that 'crom service' in Samsung Apps is the factory bootloader unlock! I just unlocked my bootloader, ROOT, HERE I COME!

I'm So EXCITED! Samsung provides factory bootloader unlocking!
I posted the details here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...o-bootloader-unlock-s6-edge-sm-g9250-t3086325
Just a quick update.
I also found the CROM service post, unlocked and rooted my Edge. However, the recovery seems to not have taken properly (I'm getting the dm-verity verification failed error when I try to flash a zip or reset the phone). Phone still works fine, but I'm still that elusive step away from getting Gapps running on it!
Haven't had any problems at all with the auto-brightness bug that I can see - perhaps it's a handset issue thing? I'm just waiting for the firmware to appear on Sammobile so I can reflash it and try doing the recovery thing from scratch.
Keep the post updated if any of you have luck getting a working recovery/Gapps on the phone!
Cheers!

How were you able to use the app? My app force closes.
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Premium HD app
I didn't have any problem - found the app on the store, downloaded, it opened and unlocked without issue (and very quickly). I'm model SM-G9250, so it could be because of that.
Anyone had any luck yet finding a fully-working recovery for the AOD3 build? Or any other method of getting Gapps on the phone?
Hong Kong version G9250 , everything is unlocked , single sim and comes with google services. On AOD5 now
That's interesting - is it ok to flash firmwares of different regions between phones of the same model number? HK firmware flashed to a mainland phone for example?
i would also like to know this and if so, how to do it
Apparently it's ok to flash firmware to different regions, but it will break OTA as the CSC codes don't match up.
I've been checking the Chinese message boards, but there isn't currently a working root/recovery for the AOD3 build. Hopefully, some clever person out there can help out with this, as it's way beyond me!
I gave it a try with the HK firmware - didn't work, and soft-bricked phone. Had to flash the original software again. Wouldn't suggest anyone else tries, just in case.
I'm sure the proper files will pop up online soon - no need to rush!
can someone explain the simplest way to get google apps?
ive unlocked the phone using crom, so what is the next step to get google play?
is the simplest method rooting it? Is there a method that works without messing up the phone?
If so, where would I find it? Otherwise, can I flash tmobile's security on top of my U firmware? Lost access to company email, might have to flash back to Tmobile firmware..
You can go www.sammobile.com and search up the firmware by phone model.
Hello mate,
Unfortunately there isn't an update yet for G935U. Apparently the only update out as we speak is for AT&T.
Have you seen about it?

Which firmware are you guys downloading? Looks like theres quite a few options. 2 options for USA and 1 unkown plus verizon, T-mobile ect. Also has anybody tried rooting it with the eng.bootloader?

I've used the USA version of the "U" firmware (on my G935T, from T-Mobile). I've not tried the T-Mobile version; so I am unsure of the differences. The reason I used the generic USA version was because I assumed it would be more likely to not include all of T-Mobile's bloatware. When flashing using Odin, use the latest "U" version (currently APL4) of firmware for BL and AP and use the latest T-Mobile firmware files (currently ver APK1) for CP and CSC fields.
If you search XDA, you will find several threads involving rooting the G935 for T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon using the "U" firmware and eng.bootloader. One such thread can be found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/how-to-root-s7-edge-t3410470. The GS7 root is not without problems. Common complaints (versus stock firmware) are: reduced battery life, running hot, lack of some carrier-specific features (i.e. visual voicemail, FM radio, etc). Some of these issues can be (nearly) resolved with various kernel tuning and patches but, in my opinion, the stability hassle is not worth the minimal gains from rooting at this time. However, if you do choose to root, using the "U" firmware is recommended by most people in order to improve stability and battery life (a great improvement over rooting carrier-specific firmware but not quite as stable as unrooted).
Can the U firmware be used for flash an S7E running the November update (4APK1)? Are there any benefits of running U firmware vs TMO specific firmware?
Hi!
I am sorry if this has been asked here before. I'm fairly new to this kind of stuff.
So I'm a foreigner living in Japan. Due to the allure of local warranty, I decided to get the Axon 7 (A2017G JPV).
It has been months since the last Nougat update came to other A2017Gs but hasn't arrived on the A2017G JPV. So I thought, may be ZTE Japan was just taking a longer time, etc. So recently, I decided to contact customer support. And their answer was unclear at best. They were apparently still deciding if they would release a Nougat update for Axon 7.
So here's my question. Considering that my Axon 7 is also A2017G, is there a way for me to install the latest A2017G European ROM or any other A2017G Stock ROMs for that matter, without unlocking my bootloader and rooting? And get OTA updates from A2017G European? If so, can someone please kindly point me in the right direction, I'm getting a bit lost.
If that isn't possible, is there a way, to install the stock A2017G ROMs (aside from JPV) and then relock the bootloader afterwards?
Please help me. Thank you.

Hi
Thank you for replying so quickly.
Please bear with me as I am still a bit confused.
The link you gave mo contains Factory Images for the A2017G, right? Therefore, I should just put the factory images (zip file), into the root directory of my SD Card, and update via settings (no need to unlock bootloader or root, right?)?
My A2017G (JPV) is now on A2017G JPV1.0.0B03.
Which factory image should I use?
Thank you very much.

Considering @ultramag69 said, do you think I should still proceed with this?
I don't think you have to the same radio firmware with all the G version out there.... If you dare to try it probably you will end up bricking your phone.... So don try. Unless you are sure can warranty claim it if it is briked
Unfortunately this region locking thing came in, sometimes it's different hardware for different regions but mostly it's to stop the grey import trade...
Due to this it is a requirement to unlock your bootloader if you want to flash other region/carrier roms, which again is a trial in itself...
If you do wish to try it, make sure you have a flashable version of your FULL stock rom, not an OTA - the difference is an OTA is a patch, usually of a few hundred Mb or so to update parts of your ROM, the full ROM is a stand-alone installation that will completely replace the current ROM.
Generally this will get you out of hot water but be aware this is also not 100% guarantee...
It will probably also delete all your data, back up first....

What I'm confused about is he's not asking to flash A2017A/U firmware (where region locking comes into play) on his device, only another country's A2017G fw so why would he need to unlock bootloader? It's still fw for the global model if I understand correctly.

I'm on your side - the modem file might be different, but since the hardware is the same, it should work. Maybe the modem file has improved signal stuff for Japan, but it's extremely improbable considering ZTE's craptastic devs...
Also, what could be the worst thing that could happen? Here are the possibilities:
- Works: enjoy
- Installation failed: Should fail before even changing files anyways
- Soft brick: get to recovery, download full update zip, install, wait for Nougat
- Hard brick: "I woke up this morning and it was off, doesn't boot anymore, I want a replacement"
And if the modem is too crappy you can always go back to Japan's firmware
I believe that the Japanese version is different from the other G versions, at least on the modem level. Japan uses some bands that are not used by any other country in the world, so unless ZTE Japan decided to release the G model knowing that it would have some connectivity issues on all Japanese carriers, the Japanese G model must have at least a different modem.
Bold = band is present in the global G model
KDDI: CDMA BC0 / BC6, LTE 1/11/18/41
NTT Docomo: UMTS 1/9/19, LTE 1/9/19/21/28
Softbank: UMTS 1/8/11, LTE 1/8/9/41
I kinda get what you're getting at after looking further into the models. Basing off the spec sheets, Amazon JP has the exact same A2017G TD-LTE with matching bands sold by ZTE. Whereas on the ZTE JP page, it instead matches the bands of something named Axon 7 TD-LTE JP (couldn't find model number, but sounds like OP's A2017G). This has over half the exact bands available on A2017G, additional UMTS bands 6 & 19 and one CA band.
I think someone in another thread previously mentioned about potential signal issues with the Axon 7 being sold in Spain after flashing DE fw. Looking at their spec sheet, it appears to have a few bands missing, may have additional bands, but it's hard to tell since only the frequencies are stated. Could just be anecdotal as you'd think with the greater range of frequencies, it shouldn't face those issues. Anyways this is a separate matter, and potentially an apples to oranges comparison.
Thank you all for your advice and insights.
I figured, damn all worries, and just used the recovery mode to flash the update.zip.
Lo and behold, it was updated with seemingly no issue. Even tried if my mobile data would work properly. And it did.

Any suggestions or experiences to improve my reception? Is it the modem?

Hey I know this is an old thread but I thought I would poke in and add my feedback. I also live in Japan and have the A2017G. I bought it because it was the only phone on the market at the time that [supposedly] supported Google Daydream. Later I realized that only the US version actually worked with Daydream. Later on support was added to European ROMS (when upgraded to 7.1.1). But for some reason the Japanese ROM, despite being 7.1.1 would say 'Incompatible Phone', even when installed manually. I contacted ZTE's customer service, which was terrible; all they said was "we don't know when it will be supported". This was about a year ago, so this week I just got sick of waiting, found the German firmware (A2017G-N-B10), installed it and everything works fine. The radios have no issues, and I was able to download Daydream right from the marketplace.
Thanks for everyone who contributed to this thread!
I just bought an unlocked AT&T phone. I don't care about security updates. I do like performance improvements and certain changes when moving to a new operating system though. However I am not willing to make those changes if I sacrifice stability.
Should I switch my AT&T rom to U.S unlocked? Is the gains worth it? Do I gain anything other then "Android 9 pie" in the settings? How is performance?
Will I get OTA updates after that or will I still need to use LGUP?
Thank you
Edit: I think I answered my own question. The ability to use HDMI out is not available until after the December 2018 update. My phone is stuck in November.
Also, unless you're an AT&T customer there's no reason to want or keep AT&T firmware.

Would only flashing and no root/bootloader unlock allow me to keep the serial and imei in the phone? Or should I make alot of backups of files?

Let's take one topic at a time.
Using Dev Patched LGUP to flash to NAO firmware for your carrier unlocked phone only gets rid of the AT&T bloat and allows you to update firmware while keeping AT&T firmware does not.
Nothing about that conversion touches serial or IMEI.
_____
Unlocking the Bootloader and rooting is a more advanced process which is harder. But that also normally shouldn't affect serial or IMEI. If you do lose serial or IMEI there's a method posted to write them back, I believe.

With the talk of Android 10 available via OTA update on AT&T only, it might make sense for ppl who want Android 10 to stick with AT&T firmware because if you cross-flash there is no going back. Android 10 for other carriers is not out yet so if you cross-flash, you're stuck with Pie.
Sorry, nevermind, seems its coming out for all soon.

For V35 on AT&T firmware, you won't get the OTA AT&T update unless you're an AT&T customer. Or AT&T MVNO Red Pocket customer.
Whereas you can flash to NAO Android 10 firmware when that is released via KDZ.
People, don't get hysterical like you did with the Pie update. All variants will get Android 10. All but AT&T will have full image KDZ which you can download and install.
NAO KDZ will be the best choice for those who are not Google Fi customer or AT&T customer.
Don't go trying to flash Korean carrier firmware like some did for Pie. Just be patient.
Stupid question... i bought one chep last year of course AT&T and i paid the unlock code, of course it came with Oreo and as later i found it couldn't get Pie. So i flashed it to the unlocked version, but as someone in other thread it seems that the firmware "official" has just been on Oreo, mine seems has security update of June and it has been updated this month with another security update...
Mine seems to work normally, however i could say it has three main flaws, first and most annoying for me is that do not disturb doesn't work properly even with rules established, only way to get it working is setting the alarm, which is a bit annoying considering that as for this virus situation i am not working since 2 months ago, and of course i don't want to get disturbed after 10:00 pm and also very early in the morning...
And second one is the signal which is worst than my previous V30+ converted to US998, funny because with other of my old phones as Z2 Force, Iphone 7 and of course US998 i could get easily 30MB+ at average using same SIM card and in the same area for more than two years, but since i have this V35 i can barely get 2MB at average and max 38MB, and max with the other ones mentioned i could get 45MB and in one time i got 60MB
And i don't know if mine has a weird battery but it can barely get around 15-16 hours of normal use.
Should i flash again to AT&T, flash the latest Pie with security update or just wait for the KDZ of Android 10?
And is that true that it now can be rooted?
This thread is widening in scope to the pros and cons of the various vendor roms and android levels. There are a couple of points to add toward that end. To my knowledge, all v35's on any existing rom can be rooted including the AT&T model. The difficulty with AT&T phones is that kdz's aren't released. You need to make your own backup before flashing to another rom if you want to return to AT&T firmware from say GFI/NA.
The next is about Oreo, at least the "h" NA/GFI build. Hotspot and tethering is broken. It may work once or twice after first setup, but it will stop working. That is a deal breaker for some. Everything (that matters to me) seems to work on Pie.
It will be interesting to hear reports on Android 10 on v35. Before taking the leap, it is important to know that ARB remains 0. An ARB change could lock you to Android 10. I don't recall reading about ARB changes on flagship LG phones in the past several years. Regardless, ARB or back-flashing is not yet reported and I do not know if qfil can overcome an ARB change. My suggestion is to be patient and watch for A10 v35 updates from the skilled, brave and sometimes foolhardy here on xda or tg.

NO, that article doesn't say that. It doesn't mention LG G7 whatsoever at all. Seriously. You are just making stuff up?
Confirm what? That you can cross flash to Korean carrier V35 firmware to other V35 against our advice? Why would you want to do that? Just be patient!

Yet again, we went all through this a year ago with Pie.
You can flash it "successfully" but you wipe all data, some of the menus are in Korean... Then a month or so later every other variant gets a KDZ (EXCEPT for AT&T). So then people have flash again to what they REALLY want -- which is a North American Open (NAO) carrier unlocked variant firmware. AND they lose data again and risk messing up their phone by cross flashing entirely different region yet again.
There's no need to do it. JUST WAIT. FLASH to NAO firmware when Android 10 is released for that variant.
If you're already on NAO firmware now, then when Android 10 is released for that variant, it would be simple "Upgrade" in Dev Patched LGUP (keep your data). If you're not yet, then it would be Partition DL or Refurbish mode to cross flash to NAO at that time. You would lose your data only once.
The people who are impatient are NOT going to stay on Korean carrier firmware long term. They will cross flash yet again to NAO when it comes out, because it's more desirable. They will be unhappy with the Korean carrier firmware. Many will mess up their phones. Don't be one those people!
Look it's your phone. Do what you want. But weeks ago I predicted this would happen and have cautioned people to not make the same mistakes again that were made last year during Pie rollout.
I just installed the korean ROM and it works... kinda good there are some minor bugs that may bother you if you pay too much attention or that are a bit annoying i am going to put here:
As soon you reboot your phone it is going to give you some warning about well some codes and stuff, i guess because the hardware is not the same?
Menu is in korean at set up but you can change it to your language
There are 3 apps that are in korean and you can't uninstall it, specially Q voice that is on korean language not working
LG Smart World does not work, but anyway i never used it, also Quick Help but it never worked on Pie too so its irrelevant
There is one app called DMB which does not work, don't know what it does but it just freeze when i try to open it
Some weird bug with the battery? It doesn't show up the estimated remaining battery, it just keep on calculating data
For some reason i haven't been able to find or change the data configuration, you know change LTE, 3G or 2G. Seems like it is on auto mode which is kinda annoying for me.
The only drawback i could say for me its dual apps... is not that easy as on Pie
And for some reason it fixed in my case the annoying but it had about do not disturb, which only worked when an alarm was set, but if there wasn't alarm it never worked
Seems the "AI" camera has been improved or fixed because when i selected AI cam it just never do anything relevant compared with my old V30+, now it recognize stuff such person and so on
Although i love stock music player i just hate the annoying purple tone with it, now it changes depending on the setup of the midnight menu. I think that on a rooted v30+ it could be changed but i am not interested on root it and doubt being on Android 10 could be rooted. But it has integraded FM app radio which i regulary use but being the american version of course it has been removed, so it has to be installed manually
What i like its that now it has integrated viedo screen recorder so good bye third party apps, which in my case i really don't like you know if you don't pay you have adds and stuff related.
But the drag menu is with a bug? i don't know how to explain it but it just goes with the hour and date long... instead of just taking a portion of the screen
I just did it and didn't wait because my v35 is broken so i need to change or leave it as secondary phone, around 20 days ago the fingerprint begun to be erratic and was hit or miss trying to unlock it, i have tried cleaning it but it worked as i mentioned on hit or miss. Right now seems i can't configure it. No idea why it just became erratic. And there was a little crack on top of the screen and it seems it got wet under the screen with a white spot, so i guess it is going to be progressively worst with time. Even i tried the old trick of putting on a zip bag but after i left it for the night, when i opened it in the morning it was just wet...
My only question could be if this can be flashed to the North America firmware...

People who flashed to Korean Pie last year were able to flash to North American Open (NAO) Pie when that was released a month or two later.
For most people, cross flashing from AT&T to NAO first and then waiting for Pie would (using Dev Patched LGUP Upgrade mode) have been the better decision. Instead of cross flashing twice -- to Korean, then again to NAO -- to different variant firmware. NAO was what they really wanted in the first place.
OR if already on NAO, just be patient. Android 10 is coming.

Well it seems that when NAO kdz will be available i will have the G8, as for me the fingerprint stuff drives me nuts right now that is not working lol, it has been a fantastic phone just well i guess it's time to move on. At least is good that can be flashed to NAO easily and with no problems like other brands out there.
Hello everyone,
I cross-flashed Android 10 on my v35 following this guide everything went as expected.
* I restored my backup from original Android 9 without any problems.
* Overall the phone feels faster, the camera experience is better(not sure that it has any benefits in the quality), unfortunately we cannot change lens during video
* The gCam 6.2 that I was using and was previously kinda stable now cannot save the picture, installed a 5.2 version that was stable in G6 -> v30 and v35 and I will be using this one until the problems with 6.x or 7.x are resolved.
* There are some korean apps that can be hidden but it they do not create any problems.
* Gestures are exactly what I needed and far better than FNG (apart from the customization options that are completely missing)
* Battery is also considerably better, but must be tested in time.
Hello to everyone!
Recently i bought an unlocked AT&T LG V35 which i am using it in Europe without any issue.
I want to cross-flash it in NA ULM kdz cause i don't want the AT&T firmware, but after a lot of reading here and there about the way i have to flash,i am a little bit confused,so i have some questions in order to go on.
My phone came with Pie version AWM20c and security patch level July 1,2019.
1)Which version of NA kdz should i download from LG firmwares site?
I see 4 versions..AIO,GFI,AMZ and USA..Maybe the latter is the most suitable?
2)Should i first crossflash it to Oreo NAO firmware and after update to Pie,(like used to do with LG V30 US998 that we must first install Nougat),or going straight away to NAO Pie?
3)The method of crossflashing is the same like LG V30 from other carriers to US998,as it is in Frankenstein thread?
4)Which of 2 methods between Refurbish and Partition DL is better for my case?
I want a completely clean kdz install, because a weird fact happens to my storage capacity in System, which has 16GB of storage used, and i suppose that all this used capacity,is because of AT&T bloated firmware,in addition to my 2 LG V30's,one is AT&T unlocked and the other is open EU 930,that both have about 10 GB used storage from system.
Thank you all in advance for your answers.
Succesfully crossflashed ULM firmware NAO USA 20f,android 9,security patch level February 1,2020.
Previous software version was android 9,AWM20c,security patch level July 1,2019.
I followed the same procedure of Frankenstein LG V30,V30+.
I used the Partition DL mode to flash and everything went fine..just in the end of the process and after the phone rebooted for first time,i got a notification referring the below:
"Decryption unsuccessful
The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt.
To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you"ll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account.
Reset phone"
I don't know if this notification is something bad,but all looked normal after the reset.
No issues till now,no AT&T bloatware,LG logo when powering on,instead of AT&T logo.
As others mentioned, the software version form, remains AWM,instead of ULM.
The previous version from AT&T was AWM20c,now it is AWM20f despite the fact that i have ULM firmware.
I hope my infos can help others in future.
Of course a big thank you goes to everyone here that contributes with their knowledge, making all these useful guides.

So far, from what's been reported, Brazil, Russia, and Europe have all started receiving the Android 10 OTA for the G7....
I'm in the U.S, (which sucks because we're usually the last of the bunch to get Moto OTA's).. Nothing here yet...
From what I've heard, it should be here sometime between now and mid-July...
I'm a noob when it comes to android roleouts. Just got my G7 4/64 river. It's sitting at Pie w/ April 2020 Sec. Updates.
I am dying to unloc and root with the latest TWRP and Magisk.
My phone is a XT-1965-6 'International' Dual SIM...Lang is English and my location is Eastern US, if it matters.
Will unlocking and rooting bork my ota Security Updates? If so, can I just say screw it and flash the latest '10' ROM
and do manual security updates as they come?
Also....I use TracFone 'bring your own phone' and my SIM is still in my Moto G5+...btw TF uses AT&T in my regeon.
SO...Do I need to contact TF and req. a SIM just for my new G7 or can I just pop it in and go?
Sorry for any noob-ish questions...ya gotta start somewhere!
my new G7 or can I just swap it over?
SIM swapped ok...next is unlocking the bootloader...fingers crossed! Do I want the matching 'retin' Stock ROM or should I use the 'retail' for the XT-1962-6 'International' version? What's the diff between 'retin' and just 'retail' ?

Be careful flashing stock ROMs. You want to always be sure to be using the same stock ROM that came with your phone.
(I think IN is a country code, not International...I could be wrong tho.)
Best of luck. Always make backups! Any good ROM dev puts that as one of the first steps...listen because they are wise!

I guess if I do update to another G series, (tiny tiny chance) I'll be sure to get the cheaper variant models, like the Play or Plus or Platinum or Super Awesome..-wtheck ever moto wants to call it-since they come ahead in line with updates.

Yeah...RETIN = Retail India
I'll be using an exact bld. #s matching signed stock ROM ofc. I've recently unlocked my Moto G5+ and with the gracious assistance of a kind soul, I was able to get TWRP flashed, followed by a flash of the latest Majisk...ofc there's a few steps in between. Afaik and been told, rooting of the G5+ is pretty similar to the G7...the biggest differences being the the G7 is a 64bit and also handles the default encryption a little differently. That being said, I'm gonna make/keep a thread as I work thru the process of making a basic outline of the steps...then with the help of knowledgeable members and staff, go thru and fill in the exact details for each step...fingers crossed !!

I do believe that's mostly correct, because the partitions seem to be roughly the same BUT, theres a post under the G7 category that is titled something like "TWRP for moto g7"
If the G5 also has a/b slots then yes, you should be fine however I'd still look for the correct TWRP feed to ensure that you are using the correct one for this dev. One of these posts about a custom ROM had included a version of copy-partitions zip called copy-partitions-payton zip, DO NOT USE this one. This device is river, not payton, so when I was using that on my previous device, also a G7, it missed partitions during my backup that later proved to be a headache. If you need a link to follow for either unofficial TWRP or the correct copy-partitions, let me know. Goodluck!
I have updated my G7 to Android 10 (RETUS)
I feel like G7 is reborn after update.
It's full ROM update through LMSA and wiped everything to avoid any possible problem.
True dark theme for all applicable apps
Cam has improvement and it has much less noise
Dolby Audio can be disabled with USB C digital headphones and audio is great
Screen color temperature turned slightly blue-green (it was reddish tone)
You may notice a brief screen flash when it turns the clock off
18 watts USB PD charging stays unchanged
So far I am pretty happy with Android 10 update
