Changing resolution doesn't help to save battery. Changing the display brightness does.
Custom roms are primary dedicated for more customization options and in most cases, since they are build from newer sources, better optimized kernels, have better battery life.
I don't want to start a discussion about battery life here as there are thousands around xda and everybody has another usage behavior that impacts battery life and everybody recommending another rom that fits its purpose.
It's like shoes: everybody has its own pair that fits its needs and you need to test them before you can say: "yep, they are great for me!"

what about that revivor os?
i have a stock rom and my battery works from 8 am to 3:30 pm all day with wifi , wich that revivor os rom how much time i can get with my battery life?

Nobody can answer your question since you're the only one who can exactly know. Read my post above if not done already.

Hi there!
If you install custom OS, definitely you will get better customisation ability. That way, you can manage to get more battery life. But if you are new to these things, please read a lot before unlocking, rooting, etc. You will lose your warranty and you don't want to end up with a bricked phone in case you mess something up.
Reducing resolution does help to get more battery unlike what @strongst said. But I would suggest you not to as you might end up with unwanted reboots and such. Changing display brightness and resolution does. Resolution does affect power usage because the CPU and GPU has to process fewer pixels at a lower rate. Same thing applies to all displays of all devices, mobiles, laptops, TVs, phablets, tablets, etc. But there is no big power saving. I would suggest you not to do that for now. App developers are still adapting to it. You can try this though. Report back your result if you try.
In case you plan to go with custom OS, try Lineage. I have seen best battery backup on that. But everyone's mileage varies. So I give no guarantee on this. You can do trial and error. Moto's stock OS is awesome actually. You can have a look at Lineage though. On Moto E XT1022 condor, I get 12 hours of battery backup. On Moto G2 XT1068 titan, I get 14 hours. On stock, it was 10 and 13 respectively. But everyone's usage is different. So, again I give no guarantee on this.
Hope I was helpful to you. Get back to me if you have any more queries. Feel free to private message me.
Cheers!

Why do you think it's not working anymore? No toast notification or extremely slow charging rate? Did you clean install again?

In addition to strongst's comment, how are you monitoring your charging? Use an app like Ampere to check how fast your phone is charging (if it's properly turbocharging, you should be seeing 1500-2500 mA). Also, charging speeds will depend on how empty your battery is, battery temperature and whether you're using the device as it's charging. Best to leave your device on a flat cool surface whilst plugged into the AC charger, or, if you need to use your device, use it for light reading.

It is charging as if it is charged from a normal charger..and yes there is no more any notification about turbo charging..I mean i used to charge my phone aid my turbo charger before..I used to see a notification stating that turbocharger connected

That toast only appears to come with the stock ROM - if you want to add the toast, here's an app linked in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71930804&postcount=2154

Does anyone no some tweaks for extreme battery life?

Also I would like to share this video with my friends, if you don't mind

Who thinks Android L 5.0 would increase Moto G's battery life ?
@NextGenGTR, What's the case you are using on your Moto G? It looks good and protective without ruining the look of the device.

Hi I don't know if this would be of any help but
I had the xt1032 which drained really fast. I tried using different chargers and calibration but it was of no use. When I got to Motorola they said that my battery's total hold capacity was only 20%. They changed my battery and I bought a Motorola charger from them. Since then I have no problems in charging my device and it gives me a pretty good battery life

I will try and wait to test out android L as maybe it is 4.4.4 as other people have noted that there battery life has decreased with 4.4.4 so maybe it is a Kitkat problem, i really do hope that Android L helps with the battery, thanks a lot <3

Best way to save battery is to install Disable Service and to shutdown location from google play services and some sync services. If you dont know how to use it search google. It also saves u ram.
Most of these were already done. The best change are ART upgrade & disable animation for me.
Only confusion is wifi optimization uncheck. It actuals says reduce battery usage but @op recommends otherwise.
@op what is the best cover/case to protect front screen in your opinion.

I am using the original grip shell which i bought for £4 however it is very loose and it creeks a lot, i would recommend an otterbox which is expensive or a chinese designed otterbox that is cheaper, for example there is one black one which is £5 and it is like an otterbox

So guys, in your opinion, which is the best Nougat ROM with the best battery life?

Battery life depends on so many facts, I already explained this in other forums. You can't compare battery life between different types of usage. So it's to you to test with your own UNIQUE usage behavior & apps+network different roms to find your own.
For example: heavy users(draining battery within 24 hours) don't care about wake locks or Alarms, but people who let their device for hours laying on the desk does

That's absolutely true.
I'm more of the kind of guy who leaves the phone idle a lot. I would love a ROM which doesn't drain battery on idle.
Since I use Greenify and also don't frequently keep my data on either, I'm expecting good battery which I unfortunately don't get on my Nougat stock (it drains about 5 - 8% on idle, which seems bad for me atleast).
Agreed - it's not the final build and all but since there's no Xposed or a custom kernel available, I'm kinda stuck with stock.
I don't wanna downgrade either for the sake of battery as I simply love what Google had done with Nougat!
That's why I am considering a custom ROM [emoji12]

The unofficial nougat is quite good, as I'm also have similar usage behavior and the idle drain is OK. I don't use greenify and amplify anymore cause doze in nougat works even better then introduced in MM where I used it to get better behavior even with doze.

Yes, even offlate couple of weeks ago, i rooted my moto x play and flashed LineageOS N 7.1.1. But the battery drain is so fast and it makes you feel you just have a 1200mah battery!!! (the truth is mine has 3630 mah gigantic battery).
BTW, somebody suggested to have Greenify, and this improved a little. Not fully satisfied with its performance though. My battery charge is not even lasting a full day!!!
Any suggestions guyz.

Custom roms are leechers battery :crying:, after trying and trying roms i´ve found that using kernel governors " on demand" works pretty well, always you dont play videogames :cyclops:

Just overwhelmed on my n6 stock 8 SOT

Edit: nothing to see here, only 6:17 hours, with only 2% remaining. For some reason the screen jumped on draining battery i guess.
Hello there! I was just on my way to home and i have some minutes to write about what is being a VERY nice surprise: just 4 hours on SOT and 48% battery yet.
My personal recipe, just begun on a lot of testing custom roms that will only deliver at most like 4 hours on sot, and maybe less.
So, here's my test:
Stock MM rom - decrypted
Pico gapps
Normal apps like Facebook, ig, lnkdn, wsap, here maps and others.
I know, and i'm aware about the security issues, and i was thinking on a replacement phone, yhe hell that i'm going to let down my beloved MOTO N6; i whish that this phone would have a 4000mah battery.
Best phone ever.

I can't upload pics, but i will upload as soon as possible on a desktop, and coz i don't have a tapaccount, but just to make things clear i been testing and using a lot of custom roms, included these ones that claim bug-free oses.
Well, i would whish a clean MIUI launcher and i would be done with this.

To clarify things:
the phone has stock android mm mob31t (flashed with NRT for unencrypted data partition)
Lastest recovery teamwin 3.0.3
Picogapps.
Some minor tweaks in settings, like enabled dev, for sppeding animations. Gps on device only.

Not that much, he's rooted and encryption disabled.
I turned off every feature I don't use. I activate a feature, only when I need it, just as long as I need it.
(BT always off, Wifi when needed, data always on, NFC always disabled, Ambiant display disabled, greenified everything, set a true black theme with black wallpaper, no gesture, LED activated)
You can earn maybe one or two SOT hours more, but you have to lower the resolution/density. (That increase perfomances too)
Edit: You can reach 10h SOT without lowering screen density... (while calling/texting/browsing/networking/youtubing)

Did not try Paranoid, but I read that it isn't stable at that time.
PN is stable, have nice features and is well updated. Good perfs and battery life.
In my case, I don't want to switch to another because PN works fine. And I learned to keep working things instead of switching and take the risk that it won't work anymore..

If I am right, layers on MM can be changed with RRO Layers, which is now deprecated.
You'll have to download the RRO LAyer manager and then somme layers of your choice.
If you wanna lower screen density, the better choice is 720p because of the homothetic proportions. (otherwise, some icons may be bugged)
I forgot, I try to avoid heavy apps. I did not install facebook and created a shortcut to fbchrome's page. Same thing with Tweeter.
GPS also disabled if not needed

It will fit with some modifications. Check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/battery-mod-t3536162 . Ordered a new Nexus 6 mid housing on Amazon for 10$ just in case I mess mine up. I'll post some pics this weekend. My battery life now is terrible.. Figured if I need to replace the battery anyways might as well upgrade it.
So I did the Droid turbo battery swap. So far so good battery life seems way better than the stock dying battery. I did have to modify the frame some to make the battery and back cover fit.Wireless charging and everything works.

Axon 7 custom rom with best battery life?

Hi all!
I have been getting bad battery performance on my axon 7 for as long as I can remember but didn't really want to try custom rom because I'm afraid it will void warranty. SOT reported with GSam is 2h30m. Fast forward the phone was water damaged and fixed locally so my warranty is voided anyway. So I think it's time for me to try out custom rom.
My main concern is battery life then functionality. Any recommendation for rom & kernel would be much appreciated! Thank you very much!

Guy above is right. But I'd like you to try something. Before changing it, use Accubattery to see how much capacity your battery had. After 2 charges you'll have a pretty good idea of how utterly destroyed it is. I managed to get 7 hours of SOT when the phone had about a month of use, now I'm getting 4:30. My battery says 2400 mAh.
Also, there's a bigger battery going around, a Losoncoer 3650 mAh battery. It's reportedly the same size and all. If you happen to try it out, let me know. I want to change the battery and i still haven't decided whether to buy one of those or an original one.
For comparison, the original one is 3140 mAh

you don't if you don't want to, and how would you not see the improvement after basically doubling (or more) the battery capacity?
Maybe you'll need to download a battery calibration app, those basically delete the calibration file and the phone should generate a new one

I bought my phone used in January. I was told it was a little over a year old . It was immediately obvious to me that the battery had issues and I had no insight into the charging history . Accubattery pro told me the capacity was just over 1800 mAh or 58%. I just rebooted after the install of the new battery and now it's it's back where it should be and working great.

Lol what. Accubattery is just to get the capacity estimate. After using it you should just decide whether to change the battery or not.
My battery is at 1700 mAh or 55%. I guess I'm replacing my battery first then. Is there any advice as to slow down battery deterioration process?
Edit: back to the custom rom question, does it make much of difference on battery life over stock?

Yes to both. First, charge the phone only up to 80% or so. that will prolong the battery lifespan about 3 times. There's a mod that can be installed via Magisk, that automatically stops charging when it arrives to a given percentage, then starts charging after it uses a couple percent.
And custom ROMs can be much better in the battery life department, but not always. In my case I get about 4.5h SOT on stock and 5.5H on Oreo AEX
(My battery seems to have 2400 mAh, also want to change it, but I have completely decent SOT)
P.S. Please do tell me if you buy a 3650 mAh battery. I'm thinking on buying one of those. They say that they are the same size than the original ones. plus they are not that much more expensive

What rom are you use right now? I get about 3.5 to 4 SOT on stock. Considering to flash AEX, but I not sure it worst it - stock rom have pretty good camera, spearker, "google now on tap" which is very important to me (google assistant hater)
The 3650 mAh is completely fake. I think it is impossible to place a bigger battery in the same space in the machine
