How to improve network connectivity in Zuk Z1?? - Zuk Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There are network connectivity issues in Zuk Z1.
My phone shows no network or network in red colour in settings > battery > battery graph compared to yellow and green of lyf and moto g4 plus.
Also, internet speed is very low (mine 15,20 kbps;buddy has 150,200 kbps) compared to other phones (buddy's lyf and moto g4 plus).
Plus internet speed and network connection is variable, i.e. Slow fast speed, network reception coming and going.
Although its fine in better coverage areas, but in low coverage areas, zuk just sucks...
Any solution to improve it is welcomed.

Also, is there any way to enable extra gsm/lte bands.
(I understand that unlocking bands also requires tuned antenna for reception and transmission and thats a hardware part).
Or any way to increase signal strength or connectivity
(software related like changing something in kernel, like changing tcp congestion algorithm )
( or changing anything from *#*#4636#*#* menu ).
Plus is there any specific reason for bad network connectivity of zuk z1, like,
Antenna position (good or bad)
Hand grip position (holding in any specific way that increases/decreases signal reception)
Anything else that blocks antenna reception.

see i have tried all roms you can name
cm 13.0
Lineage os 14
AOKP
XOSP
slim rom
nuclear rom
mokee 6.0
mokee 7.1
resurrection remix
miui 8
bliss rom
dirty unicorn
zui 2.5.115(beta)
zui 2.3.055
basically everything i came across i flashed it into my phone
I didn't find any rom ceven close to zui 2.3.045 in terms of stability, battery life and network reception, so you might wanna flash exact 2.3.045 version in stock form unmodified
u can also consider miui 8, I don't know why but all these Chinese roms are much more stable than cm or aosp based roms

Which 2.3.045 you flashed
the stock twrp version
Or the debloated one made by franko76 ( posted on zukfans.eu as zui 2.3.045 st multilingual)
Or the qfil stock version.
P.S. I don't have any problem with zui notification issues.
I don't use whatsapp or telegram or facebook or any social networking site.

I also face such issue but after flashing with zui using twrp somewhat change i seen with network issue.
First flash it using twrp again go back to any custom ROM you will find stability in network issue.
I prefer firehound custom ROM because jio sim network issue is not there in this rom.
Internet work fine here than other Rom's
Moreover reduced heating issue

cannot accept call on jio4g app using resurrection remix v5.7.4

I have been using resurrection remix v5.7.4 by msohaib7 for a month.. It is absolutely great.. Well thanks for that.. But there are just 2 problems for me:
1. Not able to pick any kind of call by Jio4g app. It just get hang when try to pick call on Jio app. We can call anyone without any problem though. (app is updated..)*
2. Mini militia is not working. When opened it get crashed automatically..
Please help.
I'm facing this issue
Planning to downgrade to older version of RR
Me too having same issue..did the problem exist in older version of rr
Or try upgrading to nougat version of RR (v5.8.0 with Android 7.1.1). Mini militia works great in it. I don't have Jio so I can't say about that.

Even the older version i.e. RR 5.7.3 had this issue too with Mini Minitia, and Hill Climb Racing, etc. But calling worked fine for me. Though it's smoother than ED300's, but his ROM has lesser bugs. Try that one :good:

[DISCUSSION]Signal strength on 4G/LTE sim on new Nougat roms

I am using Kenzo on RR 23-12-16 Unofficial build with Jio sim and observed signal strength is getting reduced as the roms get new updates. Anyone else observed same? May be because of older firmware.
If you too observing low signal strength please share your setup and observation, let try to find a fix.

the best strenght i was able to find is in Citrus caf lemon(almost full every time):good:

I'm on Abhishek's fw and network is quite stable and almost this full.
Although some fws give better signal strength, it doesn't prevent/reduce the signal fluctuations. Only citruscaf and cosmic have stable and full LTE signals AFAIK.

On du but I don't face network issue on any rom
I used to get 2+ always right now only 1 bar.
Anyone having full signal dial *#*#4636#*#* go to phone information and check actual signal strength.
Also who has du, citrus cosmic and cm14.1(volte) installed, zip and send me this folder /system/etc/firmware.
Also if any other rom then too.
Thank you.
Mostly this for me.
Yes
Yes facing the same
Isn't -100dBm is worse than say -90dBm. Is it possible that the bars scale differently in some ROMs?
EDIT: Seems like there's a huge difference in asu. I've no idea how that works.

Firmware folder from citrus caf.
Citruscaf gives -93dBm while miui gives -103dBm
I'm on offical cm14.1 latest build with latest firmware of strix, still facing low strength issue at my college. Not at my home, but while moving there is lot of fluctuations
Whenever I used Abhishek firmware, the network was too unstable to even download anything, but it's rock solid on psyman firmware.

using the bazinga kernel that it comes with, using this rom past 3 days, no problems yet, only problem i face is that all cm14 based rom doesnot provide simcard enable/disable switch, which is very much required if you are using jio sim for internet and other network sim for calls, coz when you put both the sims the jio first wont get signal, then you have to turn off other sim and search jio network and select it , then lte u will get then you will turn on the second sim, now you get both sim working,
if you are not using jio then i think no problem

I have been using RR 5.8.0 ROM from mshoaib7 and i haven't found any bug except crackling notification sound (sometime).
You can find the thread here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/development/rom-resurrectionremix-v5-8-0-lenovo-t3508961
And for the crackling notification sound bug,you can solve it with custom kernel from MR.AW
You can find the thread here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a6000/development/kernel-semar-lenovo-a6000-plus-t3534853
This RR Rom combined with the custom kernel really have good performance and great battery backup :good:
